okay, so when i used to play on release i had this shitty issue where classic wow was really laggy. and only classic. with/without addons after flushing, clearing caches, retail ran fine and for whatever reason i could never fix it on classic. i remember eventually it was the most obscure unlikely silly sounding fix ever, but it took like months of looking and i dont remember what it was. but that was on my laptop, and not im back on my desktop dealing with the same lag. any ideaS?

its an asus thing, the asus mobo/PC runs a program called ROG III gaming service. that you have to task manager end, and it clears the classic lag right up. i knew it was the most obscure dumbest thing ever just couldnt remember it from before on my laptop. A-ok now. horde skeram.

do some reasearch into different builds and items you may want
think before you make character choices like talents and specs, they matter a lot more in classic than retail
understand you will be doing a LOT of walking on foot.
guilds/friends are a lifesaver
expect to get attached to your char a little bit.
if you play hunter you are playing classic hunter, while everyone else is playing classic WoW- FYI.

idk if there's a release for TBC yet, but it wont make too much difference. AFIAK when it drops you will be able to pick to move move a character into TBC or stay in classic. once you get to TBC content most anything you did/do in classic will likely be irrelevant.
iirc there's going to be a paid option to boost to 60 and start right into TBC content, so thats a thing. otherwise, a solid month or so (generaously, if you're lucky or commited its shorter) can get you 60 or near it with a decent quest plan and steady progress.
also, fun tip, as soon as you make whatever character, or at least by level 10 open chat and /join LookingForGroup
not quite the same as groupfinder, but fits the same role with some more human interaction/selection.

MMORPG: Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game. There is no better 'one' because they differ RPG wise. Classic is the most RPG 'WoW' to me if that makes sense? I enjoy immersing my self into a fantasy MMORPG, and the newer versions of WoW, more and more, isolate me from that. WoW of today, while an amazing game, due to added features one rarely RPs/communicates with others -I like the must have friends/'manual' group aspect of classic. I don't get that same immersion depth I get from Classic.

For the thing about dungeon groups though I feel boosting is over-exaggerated, or that it's easier to get groups than people make it out to be, although I am on a high pop server
I've been playing it by myself since my friends quit after launch, and I've still had fun! You should be able to make friends to play with in-game too

@hybrid peak If you are boosting your first character you'll want either a mage, hunter, or lock for easy farming to be able to make gold. Hunter is particularly good especially for the Primal mana farm in nether storm. Alternatively you could go with a stealth class like rogue/druid for farming dungeon veins/herbs in TBC.
Paladin is another decent investment since they are able to do boosts effectively in TBC or you could farm Scholomance for dark runes which will still sell reasonably well in TBC and will be in demand by healers.

classic doesn't have wow tokens or a blizzard store. Classic is basically the WoW that was introduced in 2004. They tried to recreate it as accurately as they could.

That is a hard question to answer, and you will receive a lot of biased answers. With all of that being said, Classic TBC is a much improved game compared to Classic Vanilla. Compared to retail it has a much stronger emphasis on character identity since the community in your server is mostly static with occasional transfers. I would consider it a more casual game than retail, because while classic TBCC (I won't be referring to vanilla from this pont) has mechanics and challenging raid bosses. It really doesn't compare to the difficulty of mythic raid encounters in retail. Retail also has alot of QOL changes, but many in the Classic community find it detrimental to the overall game experience. In particular transmog, LFR, LFG, personal loot, WoW tokens.
It's never too late to join classic, and TBCC has the single character boost to help people like you that are joining late into the game get into TBCC in time for the opening of the dark portal. If you plan to stay on Classic servers, that is a whole other beast entirely and to be perfectly honest with you I don't know how classic will look after TBCC/prepatch drops especially with the cost of character cloning being $35 which to me disincentives people from keeping a character in classic if they want to move on to TBC. Not that it effects me, I prefer TBC since I'm tired of Naxx at this point but it is a very valid complaint.
And to be clear, I haven't played retail since shadowlands dropped since I have been playing classic. I watch videos about it and have heard bad things about torghast but take what I say about the current state of retail with a grain of salt.

Tailoring and enchanting are usually the go-to for cloth classes. Tailoring is always great for leveling a clothie (bags, gear), enchanting is also pretty useful to have. Engineering has a headpiece that can be useful for warlocks (if it has the shadow power enchantment when made, so it's all about luck)
It really comes down to what you want, but my suggestion would be tailoring + probably enchanting

Classic was big on having a reputation on your server. They kinda removed the PvP portion of that already but it was still a thing via rp/pve. Now with connected realms they are getting rid of the RPG and community aspects of the game. If they merged realms you would still have that.
