Classic is unforgiving, but rewarding.
And it brought back content permanently wiped out when CATA came about in retail.

I was in school when I began playing classic about 9 months ago so I had some time π my friend wanted me to experience some of her journey when she played vanilla. Including getting scared in duskwood, and having to run across the entire Elwynn zone LOL

for some reason there are a lot of strong opinions in a classic wow channel. some people do not want to pay for a half complete experience like SH. some people want to enjoy a slower and less stress environment, where toons just run around killing low level monsters without having to reinvent the wheel or meta like retail does every time. you donβt see me coming on the retail channel and bashing the game, some things are QoL for one group but it is not for another

@dusky loom Pick and choose on your own terms. There's no "should", it's simply what you want. Retail gives you the most up to date experience. Classic simply brings back old gameplay mechanics and content which have long since been phased out, much of it which is sorely missed. Classic also brought back the talent tree system and pet management, among many other things.
I had stopped playing Retail for a while because IMO the gameplay became "paint by numbers".
In Classic, you kinda need to know what you're doing, and if you didn't, or even so much as try to attack a mob 3+ levels above you, the game is fairly unforgiving.
Retail feels a lot more polished because it's the result of 16 years of development.
Classic is a representation of only 2-3 of those years.
There's more that can be said either way, but that should give you some idea.
Also, given the age of Classic, it can run on a potato.

Thereβs an add on called azeroth auto pilot that tells you what quests to pick up where and exactly what to do and all, which makes it super streamlined to level but takes away the point of exploring if ur looking for efficiency. For gearing a shaman iβd just look on wowhead for a nice shaman classic guide

Can someone explain to me what Classic WoW is exactly? I have looked and haven't really got a clear idea yet.
Is the entire point of it to reset WOW back to when it was first released, graphics and everything and then slowly add expansions to it? I don't understand the eventual goal of it. Is it just a version of WoW that they keep purposely dated behind the current release and they eventually will catch up?

The speculation is that they will release everything up to before Cataclysm, which is considered the era of WoW Classic. It is a definite confirmation that TBC will be on the way, so what the future after that will be will be.

Classic WoW is WoW but at a earlier stage. Right now I think it's still at how WoW was when it was offically released. (Don't take my word for it I dont play classic)

@snow needle Classic WoW is the base version of the game that released back in 2004. It emulates the state of the game back then, prior any expansion.

@signal elk If you've got quests that are level appropriate then you're in the right place. For skill order, at your level, looking up a rotation won't make sense because you'll be missing core components
@signal elk Your items ARE probably trash, since you won't have herilooms, and that's okay because the content is pretty easy. Just make sure you have your pet set to taunt, and don't pull (make mad) too many enemies at once
