Hi, was there something wrong with uploads during the last few days? My client uploaded data after a couple of farming sessions but there is no reputation displayed in my account...
You can only earn 50 reputation a week, 25 rep, twice, for data uploads. The reset for the week happens some time today.

No problem. After those two each week there's no further rep entries. You could keep track of the upload count on your quick facts though, if you want, though I'm not sure how often that cache gets cleared/updated.
One more thing, are the stats for skinning the Silithid elite beasts updated at all? I farmed them over the course of the week and the skinning numbers don't seem to increase at all. @teal dragon For me this was a DNS issue or something related to that. I changed my DNS in my local network settings to public DNS and the website loads correctly
I am having the same issue as RubyKnight. I am also in Chattanooga. Contacted my provider, EPB, and a service tech (who also plays WOW) has the same difficulty. The issue lies somewhere with EPB communicating with Zaming. I am able to connect to Wowhead on my phone plan but not through my fiber optic.

EE (ISP) in UK, same issue; dns checkers show it resolving fine for all the test servers all over though, so clearly working for most. A ping redirects to another domain and resolves that to another IP which seems odd, but maybe this is normal

I'm having the same issue. My ISP is webpass out of Seattle. Changed DNS to 8.8.8.8. Halseyauto loaded fine, what info from a trace route is useful?
someone may have asked you to run notepad on some file in windows to add an ip address somewhere

I'm guessing you're gonna see wow.zamimg.com in there with that bad IP. if you don't find it there, not sure what's causing your computer to get the wrong IP

the wizards on my end have another suggestion. at a command prompt, run
ipconfig /flushdns
if that looks like it worked, try another
ping wow.zamimg.com
but if it didn't work, you might have to run the command prompt as an admin because windows be windows

The issue for everyone seems to be your local DNS, weather it be the router your connected to or your ISPs DNS server.
@robust mason Did a firmware update on my router (NETGEAR AC1750) and wowhead now loads fine on my computer that I had changed the DNS on earlier but not immediately on my phone trying to connect via wifi. Going to change the DNS on my phone and see if it works there now too
Changing DNS on my phone and HTPC it's now also working there so my issue is resolved. Not much to report on what fixed it outside of doing a firmware update on my router and using google public DNS in combination
i curious what dns you had before using google's
basically here's what's up:
your computer needs to reach wowhead, doesn't know how, asks your router
your router asks your ISP
your ISP asks our name server
our name server says "oh it's W.X.Y.Z"
and that message gets passed all the way back to your computer. However, someone in there has an old response cached, and they're not asking our name server where to go. maybe it's your isp, maybe it's your router. maybe your router is programmed not to ask your ISP, but to ask someone else (like google)
when you tell your computer or phone to use the google DNS, it stops asking your router (which is giving you bad info anyway) and asks google directly. however it would be helpful for us to know if your router's asking your ISP, and your ISP is sending out the wrong answers, so we'll ask your ISP what's going on. or maybe your router's asking some DNS that's not belonging to your ISP but some other server, and we can contact them or you revert it to your ISP or whatever.
that's the high-level view of what's going on, obviously it's not something you should worry about, websites should just work, but that's what's in play
Switched my phone back to default DNS just to see what it is and it defaults to 192.168.1.1 and goes back to not being able to connect to wowhead so guess it might be a router thing? Outside of my purview so can't really even fathom a good guess

you've been very helpful and i don't want to ask you to look into your router settings if you're not familiar with them, i don't want to risk messing something up in there and losing your connection entirely
i'm gonna look around for a bit to see if there's some web page you can visit or something that'll get us the info we could use more safely
Did notice that Dratnos and I both use Webpss for an ISP so not sure if coincidence or it's an ISP issue

Since there's individuals in EU also having the problem I doubt it stems from this ISP specifically, but maybe the two places are using the same source.
you can try https://www.dnsleaktest.com/ on an affected browser and click "standard test" and it'll try to find out what dns it's using, tho it may be inconclusive
mine says this but i'm using cloudflare's 1.1.1.1 and i can't query the ip it names directly
hey, that might get us somewhere. i can't query those name servers because i'm not on webpass's network, but they did refuse right away so they're probably the correct IPs

welp, a few things. our network engineers might talk to our cdn providers and ask if they'll make noises at your ISP or if there's anything we can do on our end for you and anyone else with similar issues.
you can call your ISP support line and ask why their dns is returning outdated info when the rest of the world has the right info (tho that's probably a long and painful support call and may not get you satisfaction).
you can tell your router (or just your computer) to use a different DNS like google's 8.8.8.8 or cloudflare's 1.1.1.1, there are instructions around the web for that
however, as a Wowhead staff member, i don't want to make an official recommendation that you mess with your router's settings, you should probably call your ISP and have them work you through it, since it's their system that's broken. but, if it were me, speaking personally, my router already uses 1.1.1.1 for DNS and i don't bother with my ISP, since comcast is usually a pain

yeah. i mean sooner or later their dns should update like everyone else's does, otherwise more and more sites become inaccessible for you. but we'll double-check to see if there's anything we can do on our end to speed it up as well, maybe there's some extra setting we can change or something that'll help your ISP notice our changes, idunno.

Sadly there's nothing else we can do. The issue isn't actually on our end. ๐ฆ There were other potential options mentioned earlier today, like a dnsflush, restarting your router, etc., but I can't guarantee success.

I am a bit confused, people from Hungary, Belgium, USA, France and UK and so on facing issue reaching Zaming and it is labelled as an ISP issue. There is no common ISP in those countries.
I am unable to reach the site either through fiber optic nor 4G network (neither on my computer nor my phone). I have issue also reaching Bloodmallet, I can land on the hompage but the spec pages are unreachable. Also, I can access any other websites (including warcraftlogs, worldofwarcraft, raidbots, etc... However, each call to wowhead (for tooltip as instance) is failing.

no - that's not how DNS works
I dont believe its ISP problem, I get occasionally fully working wowhead, occasionally I get error mentioned by other ones too

the DNS service is usually provided by your ISP
so if their DNS fails to resoolve certain websites it's fair to assume there is an issue with it
and wowhead error is with several DNS services and several ISPs
they might list wowhead as a source for content that is problematic for whtever reason and not resolve it
you can search for alternative trustworthy DNS alternatives on the web and see if that helps
or use a VPN
how do you explain then my case, wowhead is responsive at times and at times it getting time-out errors
wowhead is the only website I came across that doesn't work
if there is an issue with the DNS it might sometimes come with a valid answre and sometimes it does not
that's not so hard to imagine
it could of course be anything else - like issues of the routing between your ISP and the ISP of wowhead for example
that would not affect the DNS responses though
DNS doesnt work like that like you propose, it doesnt randomly choose one nameresolving to be compromised occasionally
and if I retrack where issues begins it is actually one hosting service causing issues
yeah as I said - it could be anything else - but if you want to make sure it's not a DNS issue you can swap the server to verify that
ISP DNS is often slow and bad at updating when there are some routing problems, that's why using Google or someone else independent is always a good idea.
So folks are saying "i can access all these other websites but not wowhead" and "how is this an ISP problem when various people around the world are reporting it?". So here are more details on what's going on. For a couple years, our static asset server was hosted by a company called Instart. At the end of March 2020, we switched over to using Cloudflare. For a period of time, both companies could serve our content, but we control the DNS record for our hostname (obviously) and we switched it over to Cloudflare as soon as we started using it. DNS, when it's working properly, switches over pretty quickly, and takes anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour to up to 24 hours, but rarely longer than that. For some users, their ISP's DNS servers apparently didn't update to point at Cloudflare, and continued using Instart.
(and some ISP have a habit of deciding what is bad content and not resoolving such homepages) ๐
Finally, Instart stopped hosting our content (which is fine, we aren't pointing to them anymore) but some ISPs are lagging behind and still telling your computers to reach Instart instead of Cloudflare

so if you do a ping or a lookup of wow.zamimg.com and your ISP (or your computer, or DNS, or hosts file, or a zillion other places that get checked and cached) says something else, well, we already told them the new address, and they're not getting the message
DNS often uses multiple servers. When some are still bad and some are updated, that's when the problem is intermittent.
there could be a million explanations to why it sporadically doesn't work that don't necessrarily have to do anything with wowhead's services @waxen beacon
like for example a DNS problem I looked at with Vodafone was when one of thier DNS servers was not caching entries properly and would only hold like 5 million entries at a time - during low traffic everything worked fine but in busy hours it would fail to respond or cache less popular sites - it took months to find and fix the issue
Now, @fervent folio did a ping and his DNS said the host was at 74.220.199.6 which is some parking page for "bluehost", which I have no idea how that ended up there.

Some final notes before I get back to other things: if you decide to change the DNS server at your router or computer to Google https://developers.google.com/speed/public-dns/docs/using or Cloudflare https://1.1.1.1/dns/ then:
a) you should know what you're doing and be comfortable with it, and know how to undo your changes, because it affects how you find all websites. we can't help you further if you can't reconnect to Discord. ;)
b) your browser (and sometimes your computer) has its own cache of name lookups, so if you change your router then just hit "reload" on your browser, it might not work yet. Reboot/restart everything from where you change it, on up to your browser.

If I understand what happened correctly, here's the timeline:
Late March, 2020: wow.zamimg.com starts pointing to cloudflare
Late March, 2020: almost every DNS server tells their clients that wow.zamimg.com is on cloudflare
Mid-May 2020: your ISP still tells you it's on Instart
May 18? Instart stops serving Wowhead content
your DNS had about 6-7 weeks to get with the program, and still hasn't. I mean, yeah, eventually your DNS should do what everyone else does, but it hasn't after a long time already
with that background (and knowing how poorly a lot ISP maintain thier infrastructure) I would recommend to try and switch your local DNS config ... but as stated - please only do that if you are comfortable with such settings
nslookup is pointing me where it should but wowhead is serving just timeout errors
well, i just fixed mine. I used to have static ip setup after some portforwarding
some might have done the same and don't need it anymore so just reversed mine what they used to be
can connect now without any problems
@waxen beacon if www.wowhead.com is timing out, then your issue is different than the static DNS issue we've been discussing
@tawny knoll glad you got it figured out. that's why we're not recommending people change their hosts files or anything as a workaround since they'd have to revisit it the next time the ip changes. ๐

@robust mason Hello Erorus , my router just re-initialized the connection on its own. After a while (30 minutes), it was back online and I had no more the issue. I can now surf on the website without switching to another DNS.

Just switched back to my default/ISP's DNS and wowhead now also loads properly from there. That being said, using Google's DNS does have a lot of pages load/scroll a lot smoother so this ordeal is a net positive for me haha

Hey, is there a way to opt out of the new loot browser on the site? I really don't like wasting screen space for the possibility to get on another page, it seems counterproductive to me. I don't want to skip a page if what I want may be on this page! Talking about what can be seen on the screenshot. It hides a whole line for little use.

No Teralion, you can't opt out. That is in place for any list views on the site, it's not specific to loot tables. It can be quite useful to some people and makes it clear how many are in the list, and allows to easily change pages without having to scroll anywhere when that decision is made. With any change, it may take a bit to get used to.

Classic wowhead doesn't seem to have the quests listed for shaman T3 token hand in. The only one listed is for shoulders so there are 7 quests missing currently.

@fervent marsh no one else has reported that sort of thing, no, nor have I ever seen that. I'd recommend disabling ad or script blockers and trying again... they have a tendency to mess pages up. You might also try another browser to see how the page looks elsewhere.
@lost drift nothing you can do on your end, we have to "restart" it when this happens. Though it should be restarting itself if it goes down so next week we'll have to look into why it's not doing very well with that.

Im having a hunt for my toon so I can check my BFA attunments, but whenever I try to find my toon, it errors out with "Character does not exist #104"

Have you logged off that toon since? You need to be offline for the API to update
Just log off for like 5 minutes, that should give the API enough time to update, then you can log back in and continue playing ๐
Blizzard posts are sent to all webhoooks. If you have multiple in a channel, you'll have multiple copies of posts tagged as Blizzard.

Hey - quick question regarding drop rates
Here it says in the tooltip 9.45% but in the bottom it says 17% based on a count
Which one is the most accurate? ๐
Also, there is something funky with these drop rates:
7% overseer, 6% spellbinder, 5% warlock. Theres 10 warlocks, 8 spellbinder, 5 overseer in each BWL. That should give you on average 1.5ish dooms edge per BWL. Probably not the case ๐
not sure why you use the classic site for the drop rates - it has has significantly less data sets to math it out.
assuming that the drop rates havent't been changed you should have very acurate data from the bfa site

Hello, I'm trying to log into the site in order to use the quest completion tracker tool, and the system isn't letting me access my old wowhead account and won't let me link a fanbyte account to that old account because the username is already used. I tried the login with battle.net function, but it just linked me to where I am stuck now.
I've tried the password reset, but it just resets the fanbyte password, not the wowhead password I'm trying to actually log into.

For example, I loaded up my rogue the other night, and the only non-Classic-related recommended guide out of about 8 or 9 was for fishing, even though I have "BFA" selected for what version of the site I'm on, and my character is level 120.

If you don't see any ads in it then it just means there isn't any inventory for you personally at that time. Some people see ads in it pretty much constantly, it varies by individual/browser.

That's not how it works. A video must be playing for an ad to be inserted. We use cinematics when there's no ad to display. It works like ads during a YouTube video.

We have no way to know if you, individually, will ever have an ad available for injection to generate revenue. Yes, if no ads play then we're not benefiting but we can't predict that and say, "don't play cinematics for this individual".

Yes, that was a change, if there's nothing else it shows a model.
If a screenshot is submitted, it overrides the model image.

first, I entered my phone number, and your process said "invalid phone number" for my google voice number. So I had to use someone elses number. Google numbers are valid, you shouldn't filter them out.
second, why is there so much shadowlands BETA posts on the retail site? I see beta, BFA, and classic, but, when I select BFA, all I see is shadowlands spam, shouldn't all things shadowlands be in the beta category?
Do you mean in the news dropdown filter? If you uncheck beta you shouldn't see any shadowlands stuff (I don't)
@atomic urchin the phone number thing you need to take up with Discord. We're not the one's receiving or verifying your number.
Our main site, www, includes all news. The BFA toggle selected at the top indicates the database used for searches. If you wish to filter out certain news categories on our main/www page, find the 'Types' drop down under Today in WoW, above the first news post, and remove those categories.
Hey all. TGIF! I'm hoping someone can help me with the character profiler on wowhead. None of my characters are loading on the wowhead website. They are all "not found". My Realm, Sen'jin has an apostrophe in it and I'm wondering if that's causing the issue here? yeah then it seems to be a clear issue with gtt - maybe the guys here operating the site can file a tciket with their cloud service - but you could also file a complaint with your ISP so they could switch routes as well

Hello. I am also having an issue with my wowhead account. It seems as though you can no longer log in with just your username, and it appears as though I'm unsure what email I have attached to my account. I sent a site feedback post but it occurs to me that my email may be blocking messages from wowhead for whatever reason. Whenever someone on staff has time, please DM me with regards to the wowhead account with the username "Wrashis"
You can log in with username still but using email makes it more obvious that you need to update it should you change email addresses in the future... thus avoiding such issues.
It's likely that your password may have been less than 8 characters which has been invalidated now. Please send an email to feedback@wowhead.com with your username, current email address and what you think the email address is that's associated with the account. @wheat cypress Not anymore. We used to through StanzaCal, but that service is no longer available to us since it became a pay-only-model. Honestly it'd be great if Blizzard implemented such a thing. An API for events based on region/realm and notifications/sync-ups with calendars like you suggest. Maybe approach them on the subject. ๐

I've been unable to access wowhead website for the past week or so, and have been frantically googling for answers but I've yet to find any solutions that work for me, until I used a VPN. Would anyone be able to tell me what the issue most likely is then? I'm happy I can use the website again but I'd like a permanent fix rather than a workaround ๐ฎ
What issues/errors were you encountering prior to switching to a VPN that resolved them?
It was a time out I believe - I tried doing the tracert wowhead.com thing and only 3-4 of the 30 jumps worked, rest timed out. And Google chrome gave me an ERR_TIME OUT error of sorts, altho I can't remember exactly what it said. It happened on firefox, chrome and edge so I have to think it's ISP related but I don't know how I would go about fixing that

Is it possible to make the "Last Updated" date bigger or more prominent on the Warlock Guides? I feel like it would be helpful in identifying which guide is the most recent since they are authored by three different people. Additionally, does that date apply to the information as a whole or specific sections?
each last updated has to deal with the page you're looking at
if you see a guide that you think is outdated, make sure to report it so we can get around updating it:

@junior moon Just letting ya know the Dwarf model on the Shadowlands dressing room t-poses when the 'pause animation' button is selected. Doesn't do it for non-beta shadowlands but for some reason the male Dwarf t-poses in Beta dressing room

Usually that they're not available in the API and gray ones are probably old/deleted.
The information you see there is provided by Blizzard directly, it's not a list we generate.

No no, I'm familiar with it. If the character is clickable it'll load up in our Profiler, assuming it's found in Blizzard's API. If they're not clickable, or red, they aren't loadable or have not been loaded recently enough to know for sure if it's current, accessible, or exists.
hmm i moused over one of the red ones an it jst showed something about a javascript or whichever then i clicked on a blue named toon on another page an that one loaded, but didnt have a profile
The blue ones should be ones that are clickable.

Once you look them up, if they're found in the API, they'll likely appear blue and clickable from the battle.net list in your account settings.
yeah i figured that otu, clicked one and it populated a profile so i just clicked the x an deleted it since it was a lowbie toon, also some of my higher lvl toons/alts lvl 100 or higher have eyeballs next to their names

The Looter doesn't recognize password changes via Password Reset (it's old...)
Once you reset your password via the above link, go to your account settings and change the password once more in there (since you now know the "current" password after a reset). The Looter/Client will then know the "new NEW" password.
You will still have to enter the new NEW password in the Client once you complete all that.

I have a bit of a problem with the recent post about max corruption resist.
A lot of people are interpreting the post wrong in 1 of 2 ways: Either that starting this week it'll be mathematically impossible for players with new cloaks to catch up to people who are keeping up with max resist (while they can still catch up, just not on the same week); Or that Fresh R15 cloaks will start with the indicated resistance rating in the 3rd column in the table and that if they don't keep up with cores they will actually have lower resist than someone with a new cloak.
I know that you're sharing the correct information and people are interpreting it wrong, but even so, while I know it's not your intent to spread misinformation, people are misinterpreting your information because of the misunderstanding and spreading this misinformation themselves

Raef is correct, we were the first group to cut ties with Method. We do not want to write something insensitive that sounds like a gossip mag or 'reporting on drama' especially when it is painful to so many women. and people do not expect to open up wowhead and find something triggering to potentially relive their own trauma.

Hello! I came here with an issue of not being able to connect to the wowhead website a week or so ago, and I've done some troubleshooting since then (including the pinned fix with the dns IP changes) and I still cannot access it - same error as before. I have tried wireless to no avail, and I've tried on 4 other devices (brothers pc, cousins pc, phone and tablet) and they all work on wireless and ethernet. Anyone know what the issue could be? Hi, i just wanted to ask about the Wowhead Looter Addon. While it is active i got 1 - 3 second freezes everytime i get a new achievement. After deavtivating the addon it has no freeze at all. Is there a way to avoid that without deactivating the addon?

Can you make sure you've run the Wowhead Client to get the latest version of the looter please? If it's current, provide the version number please and any in-game info that's popping up so PigeonD can look into it and replicate.
ok so it was not the newest version and i did a update right now to version 1.9.40 and after testing it happened again

as far as i have seen on a wowhead forum post there is a interaction with wlScanAchievements(true) after u get an achievement
