a good program i use to disable specific sections is a program called adguard you can disable certain parts of a site on your side that you dnt like so you can just block that section from even appearing

The PTR is only in English until it's live, we don't localize the PTR subdomain. Comments made on PTR will all go into the English comment section upon becoming live, so ideally comments are English only until on LIVE.
The AnyClip thing is an ad unit that plays cinematics from the game, we're not the only site that does this I might add, yes it auto-plays, but without sound. Since it's an ad unit it can be removed/hidden with a Premium subscription: https://www.wowhead.com/premium - as far as spoilers, the content is several months old now and not generally considered a spoiler at this point; obviously we can't account for everyone but you should be able to pause it if you don't want to watch it. Sorry for any inconvenience there.

To clarify on Any Clip - they serve video ads, and we get more/better deals when the ads are sandwiched between video, vs images. So ideally there are small snippets of cinematics between the ads. However there was a bug where, with Ad Blocker on, just the cinematics would play so you'd get a marathon of cinematics which didn't make a ton of sense. Any CLip has just pushed a change to stop the autoplay when AdBlock is enabled, and they're looking into other quality of life improvements such as previous/next video navigation and reordering them chronologically.
Were we not to use this new video tech, which monetizes decently, we'd have to have more ad units elsewhere on the page to cover site operational costs, so we'd like to follow industry standards as far as video ad presentation to minimize the need for additional ads.

I don't really have the ability to go into this in detail right now but yes, any time you visit a profile it's intended to be added to your account for later viewing. You can always load it up and click the red x to delete it and it'll only affect your version of it. This is how it's always worked. Sorry for any confusion.

As far as length I'd say something along the lines of the one I linked. It really just depends on how thorough it is and if it warrants a guide or just a comment on a particular heirloom page, etc., but if you have a series of heirlooms to talk about and it's different enough from the one I linked, then we'd be happy to approve it.

In the azerite trait finder, with retribution paladin selected, quite a few traits are missing such as โOn My Wayโ and โLifespeedโ. It looks like whoever organized it decided to just show pure damage traits for ret, even though the two I mentioned give a secondary stat. On My Way sometimes even sims as a sidegrade for some pieces (<0.5% difference). I would like to suggest only hiding what isnโt selectable ingame when filtering for spec, which means showing all role and defensive traits, or just relaxing the filter so that it hides only obvious stuff you wouldnโt choose, like the ephemeral mana return trait.

According to a comment on that page, back in 7.3.2, that achievement was split into 4899 and 12429. 12456 is not reporting any criteria ingame, Blizzard may have removed something internal that was marked deprecated, or continuing on the tread of useless errors, is popping up the error when it used to silently return nil, similar to the silly xml load errors.
I have temporarily fixed my "can't complete quests" issue by wrapping line 1799 of Wowhead_Looter.lua with a `if id~=12456 then end` which allowed me to complete quests.Update: should've paid attention to the error message itself. The achievement's criteria is hidden. GetAchievementCriteriaInfo(12456,1) returns an error, but GetAchievementCriteriaInfo(12456,1,true) returns the expected criteria.

@reef grail not sure if this is the best place for this feedback, lemme know if it's not. I noticed you've updated the azerite section of the hpal guide to include glimmer, but it's not listed in the azerite subsection of mythic+, and (though there isn't a lot of data out yet), glimmer is undoubtedly S tier and almost certainly BIS for M+.
The CM and SW combo, and holy avenger haste, as well as higher haste on gear (usually) lets you keep up FAR more than 3 glimmers at a time. It massively helps with spread healing as well as spread damage.
I've been running 3x glimmer on 345, 360, 375 pieces, and the spread healing from it is strong enough that beacon of virtue almost seems like overkill.
The SW with CM combo is particularly strong with glimmer.

I sometimes get issues with wowhead where it seem to consume resources in the background while having multiple wowhead tabs open. As this is a web app, I would not expect this kind of behavior rom the site.

@tepid pecan If you've had the tab open for awhile it will start to consume more resources, the ads on the page will periodically refresh, so if you start to notice lag or anything you can simply refresh the page to clear it out. Honestly it's takes quite awhile for it to reach that point though, in most circumstances.

The fix is to change line 1799 of Wowhead_Looter.lua:

Yes, it's always a false positive, they usually correct it fairly shortly after an update. Windows Defender made me have to bypass it to run it recently but seems to be fine now.

I think I received a similar e-mail some point in Legion about the Mystic Runesaber... which I already owned way before I got the e-mail.
Sadly though, this isn't something related to Wowhead, as far as I can tell, but Blizzard themselves needing to be made aware of. That's not to say the warning of the "your friend purchased you [X or Y thing]" scam isn't appreciated.

there's something about missions i could mention here directly, it's that the first threat of most missions is static but this information isn't communicated when i look a mission up
for example Out of Our Depth will always have Expert Technician as its first threat (or rather threat counter)
when I say most missions I do mean 90% of missions are 100% predictable in that regard, not that 100% of missions are 90% predictable ๐ treasure maps have the most threat RNG I've seen, and while missive missions are rather easy I'm not sure they're not random with their threats

As @crude urchin likely told you, database comments are not to be used for sharing YouTube videos. You should use the 'Suggest a Video' function rather than making comments with YouTube links.

mesages on the console complain about some scripts not being able to load (for whatever reason) and a load of external js files from google etc. being blocked due to tracking protection

deactivating tracking protection get's rid of all the messages, but right-click still doesn't work after the page completes loading, it shortly seems to be working though, so I guess something thats getting loaded deactivates it

I have no idea why that is on auto-play anyway. It seems Firefox has a setting to not-auto play, hidden deep under the hood, but I do not know why it is by default the user who has to disable this.

i think pets arent part of the battle.net api you need to use the programm for that, its the same programm that provides wowhead with the drop data and stuff

For the Hunter Cat series contest, could it be clearly specified at the bottom that the contest asks for a transmog and CAT pet combo? A few people seem to be confused by the wording at the bottom and just submit their regular pet and transmog combo pictures, even though the top of the contest post does say it needs to be a picture with the family featured. Plenty of people simply scroll down to look at the 'contest' bit so it might be nice to specify.

The How to enter: section is very specific. Even linking to the database page for Cats (pet=2).
The title talks about "cats", there's a bunch of examples in the post, the example photo in the contest section is also displaying a tansmog and a cat... there shouldn't be any ambiguity here so if someone doesn't follow the instructions then their submission will just be skipped over when considering a winner.

I'm writing a raid guide for my guild, would like to do that on wowhead since it comes with benefits that make my life easier. Is wowhead the right place for something like this?
It's not supposed to be a featured guide or anything, just something I can share across my guild.
There's no option to release it, only submit for review, which seems overkill.
Would it require a review everytime I edit it aswell? Also, it's not in English, but German. Can it only be reviewed by someone who actually understands the content? Cause that would probably imply that I'd have to wait a while before it is greenlit.

@vagrant glen All guides need to be approved by Staff before being made public for various reasons. Writing a raid guide for your guild is fine, as long as it's written in a way that anyone can look at it and benefit from it. If it's specifically tailored to your guild to the point where a random user can't benefit from it it'll most likely get declined.

It should already be uploading any profile that changed since the last update.

It is uploading data, but the Client has very little to do with your profile on the site (with the exception of Toys, Followers, Heirlooms). The rest is obtained from the Blizzard API, uploading data wouldn't have any impact on that. We're looking to add a quicker way of updating all characters someday in the future though, but it can't be automatic, if this was automatic we'd be locked out of Blizzard's API pretty quickly each day due to limits.

@teal dragon Why can't it be automatic without overusing the API? Don't you guys have an API queue? The refresh button on profiles always says "queued: next in line" when I use it. Tens of 1000s of players can be automatically updated with a queue.

Premium users are always bumped to the front of the queue (that's one of the benefits), and that's just with manual requests. Automated requests would be at least an order of magnitude higher requirement on the limited API requests available.

In a video I saw, BossMods announced Starboard and Port according to sailing direction. So in the raids perspective, Starbord = right, Port = left. But actually, it should be the other way around.

I created a custom list of WoW items as listed in the Wowhead Database. This list address is https://www.wowhead.com/list=103277320/ancient-trading-mechanism-items. It worked just fine.
Shortly thereafter, Wowhead prompted me to switch from local character info to Battle.net integration, which I did.
After switching to Battle.net character info updates, my custom list began displaying my main WoW character's equipped item info instead of what was previously displayed in the custom list.
Any help would be appreciated.

Once a custom profile or list is converted into a Battle.net profile it will only display official information from the armory/battle.net. It appears the Battle.net one was converted back to a custom one that can be edited again... but unfortunately since it was converted into a B.net profile and back you'll need to remake the list that existed previously. I would encourage you to keep any custom lists separate from any actual character (i.e. no need to convert anything to Battle.net or vise versa, just make a new one).
This is an old system, and I apologize for any confusion is caused or the resulting inconvenience. Hopefully the issue can be avoided by following my advise on keeping real characters separate from custom lists.

Correct, it's just applicable to that one page. I'd recommend just deleting this one and starting over. You can have up to 11 or 12 I think as a free user so you can just add any official ones you want, which will update and sync (on demand) with B.net and then make your custom lists separately.

@compact lintel you can click the little X on that bottom ad to close it temporarily which will allow you to click the button on the cookie notice (sometimes there are two X's, click the one closer to the middle). I thought our devs had adjusted that but I'll check in with them on it. What mobile browser are you using? You may have to click two X's to completely get it to close.
@stone shuttle It has always been playing cinematics. That's what it's designed to do. It periodically plays ads. Rather than being all ads, back to back, we have cinematics. A video unit such as this has become necessary due to ad trends where ad inventory prioritizes video content over static imagery. Many sites, including other WoW fansites, utilize similar practices. Yea, I assumed any new azerite armor 370 and above you got in season 2 had the fifth ring. The goggles that take tidalcore or breath of bwonsamdi do list a fifth ring in the tooltip in my prof window. Makes sense since the goggles I linked take season 1 materials.

IE is the fastest browser, which actually blocks popups without any addons. Edge is the second fastest browser, a downgrade tbf. Chrome always has been slow, and runs far too many processes. Firefox trailing after (does it still exist even?) I can't see why microsoft would ever even entertain the idea of using chrome.

The ad numbers are pretty unfounded; yes, ad blockers are used by a significant percentage across the internet, and every site has deemed ads still profitable enough, in spite of the ad blockers, to display them. It is not 90%. Please provide detailed instructions to the feedback email as to what happened when you tried to add the hat (did you type in the full word, part of the word) and what error popped up. I was just able to add the hat without a problem.

My assumption was the issue being caused by the base ilvl being 280, which obviously isn't enough for the 5th ring. But since they can scale up to 370+ they can get one at those higher ilvls. I tried setting the ilvl to one of those, but it didn't have an effect on the # of rings.

Thanks, yeah it seems blizzard added the 5th ring to ALL gear whether it had it or not, so we tried to prune them following assumptions, but it's also eaten some S2 PvP and Dungeon rings

@placid flicker @olive dove the S2 items are showing 5 rings again. This means that S1 items are showing 5 rings as well, as that's blizzard's placeholder data, but we didn't want to delay fixing S2 items. We're looking at another solution to hiding 5 rings on items that should have 4.

Highly unlikely to be a virus or anything dangerous, at most annoying. You're likely getting the same misbehaving ad, people tend to see the same or similar ads for a period of time. There are tens of thousands of ads that vary from person to person and location. We really rely on users who encounter this sort of thing to go back to our site and click Feedback -> Advertising Issue so we can automatically receive recently displayed ad data and track it down.

Generally issues like that are because the data published by Blizzard is outdated and they are hotfixing the values in the live clients. It will likely remain incorrect until Blizzard actually publishes them in a patch.

Hey there. I'm doing some online training for front end web development. With BFA being kind of meh I find myself still interested in collecting artifact weapon skins for my alts. Right now, though, there's a major pain point with artifact appearances. The only in game process to see if you have collected a skin is to go to legion, equip your artifact weapon in proper spec, and then access your artifact appearance thingamabob. Annoying!
I know that wowhead has my character information (as I'm logged in) and has a handy dandy artifact appearances tool. I was curious if the artifact appearance tool could be customized to pull information from your characters and tell you which ones you have already (for example, yes I've completed balance of power on this char but I do not have a +15 so it shows one icon lit others not, or something. Maybe even links to a guide on how to unlock that particular appearance). I also think it'd be nice if there was a link to the in game artifact appearance - because you always get a better idea of how something looks when it's in the in game character view.
I'm pretty sure i can put most of this together myself (as a project for myself) but I was curious if you guys know if the wow chracter information API even has the information I would need to do such a thing?

@pulsar mortar you can check collected skins by going in transmog appearances -> main hand -> artifacts, I am fairly certain you don't have to switch specs. this saves the trip to your class hall.

Hitting refresh character list prompts a Blizzard authorization, which I granted, then says refreshed 1s ago, but still shows all the chars I moved to a different realm on their old one with their old levels. The chars I created on the new realm don't show up at all. Strange.

@raven sentinel It's a quirk of how spells cast from items work. It requires 9 other charms besides itself, which is also consumed by the spell, but that's a different flag in the database.
It's not something Blizz is going to fix, it's been implemented like that since vanilla.

@zenith rivet There's no way to merge accounts, you can email me at feedback@wowhead com telling me both emails and usernames. Indicate which account you want to keep, and which email and username you want associated with it. Once I fix it up you can very easily connect/ disconnect a B.net account in settings (like, a few seconds of effort). Thanks.

Now that I am playing WoW again, I am using the Battle net launcher because it allows me to access to the other games through a single launcher. Is there a way to set up the wowhead looter to be used and still launch my game through the Blizzard launcher?

The Wowhead Client will open the launcher when you click Launch WoW. It cannot be set to bypass the launcher, if that's what you mean. The looter add-on will load when you launch the game, assuming it's enabled in your add-on menu. Be sure to periodically load the Wowhead Client to automatically receive updates for the looter add-on.

I noticed that the item which teaches the pets are not completed but their asociated battle pets are. For example, I don't have any completion marks in "Drop of Azerite", but I have them in Azerite Puddle, which is the pet that the Drop of Azerite teaches.
Strangely enough, I have checkmarks in just two items that teach pets: Lil' Siege Tower and Smoochum's Bloody Heart.

@cobalt pond that's entirely something I've observed as well. These in-app browsers on mobile for some reason experience this way more often. Twitter, Facebook, Discord. I'm not certain why but whenever I load a link I tell it to use Chrome and it never happens there.
To elaborate a bit on what Funky is saying, it may be redirecting you but it's usually not instant so getting back to the page long enough to click feedback, advertising issue and submit can help us look into it. It can send data about ads you personally saw for several hours prior to submission.

Oh, I hardly fault you guys. Ads are just generally getting more invasive just about everywhere. I'll be sure to report what I can next time and have my stuff load into the browser instead. This morning it was just nuts with how spammy the redirects were, I couldn't even get back to wowhead. X.x

@cobalt pond thanks for that, appreciate the understanding. There is a setting in mobile Discord that you can switch to force it to open links in the actual/external browser. Under Behavior. Just found it myself.

Username would be your Wowhead username: Haruda (not an email address)
Password is your Wowhead password, not a Battle.net password (in case that's what you're trying to use). If you don't remember the password associated with Wowhead, log out of the account and then visit https://www.wowhead.com/account=forgotpassword to reset it. Once you reset it you can use that new password in the client, with your username, and you can log back into the account on our site with Battle.net (or with Fanbyte, using your email and the new password; the end result is the same).

Uploading current character data through the client should update that within a few hours.
Toys are only updated through the client.
Your last upload was in October of last year so anything since then would be out of date.
Just be sure you run the Client to get the latest version of the Wowhead Looter addon and be sure it's enabled in your in-game addon list so that it can gather the necessary data (you also want to make sure Upload character data is checked in your Wowhead Client Options menu).

If you're still having issues try making sure you don't have any adblockers or privacy badger, extensions like that, running... they could be interfering with the connection to Battle.net's API.

i really like the blood DK azerite page i did wonder about a spell that is not in https://www.wowhead.com/guides/blood-death-knight-azerite-traits-powers-armor-bfa-battle-for-azeroth#azerite-powers-ring-3-powers its called Cold Hearted and make Icebound Fortitude heal for 3.828 every sec and its cooldown is reduced by 15 sec it sound awsome so is it just a missed spell in the list?

Hey, wonder if the team can help me and my friend with this question:
On the the 8.1.5 allied races unlock requirements guide on the wowhead site you listed: "To roll a Kul Tiran Human/Zandalari Troll on a server, you must already have a level 110 on that server." As one of the requirements for creating these new races.
Strangely enough this is not listed on any official blizzard posts i found, and makes very little sense. Also, it is not the case for any other allied race in the game at the moment. I can UNLOCK any allied race on one server/realm (where i meet the full requirements) then change to another server/realm where i never played before, and create that allied race and play it there, no problems.
So is this really going to be different JUST for the 8.1.5 races aka Zandalari & Kul-Tiran? Or is this a misunderstanding?

I had to do the quest unlock once with a lvled character, but I can go to another server with no character and create any unlocked allied race I want now. Of the first 6.
