I'd find it completely understandable if it just stay in the Misc. section or something because half the time RP is basically "opinions and fiction" type of stuff. I've just been noticing that a lot of guides to roleplaying have been rather... spread. There's no consolidated source., and it would be kinda neat to basically make section / hub based around it, even if it's kinda minor.

I've been keeping quite a few bookmarks now actually, particularly with herbs / medicine, a few medical things, stormwind military / codex (for a guard guild I was in), and a few others recently like "how to RP a night elf" (which includes much of their lore, etc.)
I for one am not a person who thinks people should strictly RP in one way or another, but if it were possible to build up some consistency and / or at least list a bunch of sources, I think it would help.

I've written a long guide (that needs a revision) and a short gude (newer but not on the web) for RP etiquette.
It deals entirely in etiquette and leaves what and how people play up to them.
For example, IC does not equal OOC, however, the human brain is funny in nature and we're capable of connecting to and immersing ourselves in our characters, and our bodies physiologically respond to stimuli we're presented with in RP the same way as we get excited or angry at intense sports games or cry during movies. Insert Sciencecat Here. "IC is not OOC" is also the battlecry of many bullies as well. People will be mean and nasty to someone IC because they dislike them OOC in order to make them miserable, and if the player says anything, the bully will say, "It's only IC, can't you tell IC from OOC?" Then they'll turn around and try to shame them to others around. That said, peoples' OOC comfort and safety always trumps immersion and if they need to stop a scene because it's making them uncomfortable. It's inappropriate to insist or presure someone continue a scene they're uncomfortable with. The appropriate reaction is, "How can we work together to make this better for everyone?"

Would it be possible to make a tool that tracks invasions on all the regions, and shows you which ones are up and when they expire? It's kinda annoying right now ingame, since you can't see expiration date when you finished it so if you didn't write down timestamp or remember it, you won't know the spawn of next invasion

Err, any fixes for if the model viewer will not load in the dressing room? I've cleared my cache and it's done nothing. I can get the model to appear in the 3d viewer but not in the DR.
It seems to work if in HD mode but that also makes my sorry little laptop chug away, so I am wondering if it's a performance issue on my end...

Yeah, just be sure to visit your character in the profiler and run an update to get the latest info before checking Pathfinder.

Hello, is there an coder/mod? I had a problem regarding the comments and the number of characters in them. Look, I wrote a comment (http://ru.wowhead.com/item=151623#comments:id=2516911), there were about 4500 characters in it. As soon as I wrote more, they were erased, although the limit was 7500. What could be the problem?

You can delete 1 and 3, only 2 is right. This should get you some space.To those that were reporting loading issues with the attunement tool, someone discover that their browser addon 1-click document view was causing it.

@fading python So I think this is due to the Cyrillic characters. 1 Cyrillic character doesn't always equal the same as one non-Cyrillic character. It seems you've likely used up all the available "bytes", it's just not showing that properly because once it's converted into viewable text it looks like there's room for more characters, even though you've reached the cap.
Your method of "continuation" is the best way to go and you've done that well. Sorry for any confusion the character count is causing you in this process.

The download thing is weird, I assume it's trying to download files that are just $ signs? Or $.swf? If so, that's probably a conflict between a browser extension and a flash ad causing the browser to behave strangely. It's highly unlikely to be dangerous but I'd just delete them if they get downloaded.

Likely a malfunctioning ad. The file has a $ or $.swf name?
If so, it's just a flash ad that's trying to function while we're trying to prevent it from doing so, or one of your browser extensions is. Should just delete, unlikely to be harmful beyond pure annoyance.

iirc, when you upload data via the client, it's not immediately made live. It's periodically integrated with the site. In this case, it just took about a day to get populated. I had a theory it would happen, but wanted to make sure. I'm glad it worked 😃

The biggest gripe I've had with looking at wowhead filtered search results for drops and stuff is for example having to click through the individual NPCs to find out where they are located. Is there perhaps any chance to display such data aggregated into a map? Say, like google maps. Of course, data could still be displayed in a side panel.
Picture entering the name of an item, quest or achievement, and the map canvas would scroll/zoom to the relevant zones/areas and highlight with pins on the map. Just like Google Maps. As well with a sidepanel for other continents/zones that aren't on the continents.
Differing drop chances could be opacity-coded while different mobs could be color-coded.

On your Soulrender hotfix post, it mentions an elite tracker that's supposed to show what's up and if you've killed it for the achievement or not? I just wanted to mention that me and 2 friends just tested it and it isn't 100% accurate. It's telling us we haven't killed certain elites we have for the achievement AND telling me I HAVE killed an elite 3 times that I know I've never found yet. I just wanted to let you guys know since the addon doesn't seem to be 100% reliable.

(I have no idea what you could mean for the "telling me I HAVE killed an elite 3 times that I know I've never found", especially since it doesn't tell you how many times you've killed anything.)

Wowhead doesn't maintain the addon. You should contact the addon creator on Curse, or whichever site you used to download it.

-When you select a Tier 3 trait on the crucible, the main Artifact Calc updates (e.g. it will show that trait at 5/5)

@Squidly#2735 Just from the description and the picture of that addon, the right column shows "Killed" when you killed it today, "WQ" if it's a world quest at the moment, "(0) NO" when you didn't kill it today and it probably isn't up, "(x) YES" when you didn't kill it today and there are x groups in the group finder, so it is probably up. Hope that helps.

@bleak cipher I would reinstall the Flash plugin for the browser you are using, and make sure it is enabled. If that doesn't fix it, you can use the Feedback link in the top-right corner of the site and report it on pages that it's happening on.

@amber ocean I would NOT reinstall the Flash plugin. Even Adobe themselves are abandoning Flash, so the earlier you get rid of it, the better. The mentioned feedback link or - if it is an ad - report ad should help, though.

That's entirely subjective. A lot of sites still require flash to function. If the user needs flash or alread has flash, then they should be sure it's working correctly.

Well, that Flash is being terminated by Adobe isn't subjective, but you're correct that some sites still rely on it.
We'll see if Blizzard got their stuff together in the last year and manages to get their Blizzcon stream working without Flash. I'm wuite sure that was the only thing I needed it for in the last years. 😉

I have adblockers, but do not have them blocking WoWHead... I'm also premium, so it kinda doesn't matter anyway. I'll point out that AdBlock Pro and uBlock has never given me zoom complications!
Also, the price of a year of premium on WoWHead is less than two starbucks coffees! I'd highly suggest it! 😄

He offers 600k-1m gold to people who get recruited by him and boost 4 of his characters to level 90. After that he blames you for breaking the deal somehow and removes you. As I could see from his wowhead profile he has done this a couple of times.
You gotta have all the heirlooms, buy your own game, he barely gives you anything. And expoits the raf system and scams people I guess.

A new tooltip option just went live - icon sizes
If you add iconSize: 'small' to the whTooltips options you can make all icons "small" instead of tiny. Available sizes: tiny (the default), small, medium, and large.

HAI there wowheads, noticed something strange... I was trying to nail the Garrison Herb trader for a neglected alt, and went to http://www.wowhead.com/npc=91031/nicholas-mitrik which on 27th September told me he will be up in EU on 29th and in the US on the 3rd. However, following the long-known vendor cycle and a vendor that actually visited on 29th, I realized he will actually be up in EU on the 3rd, the supposed date for the US region! 3rd was yesterday, and I actually did find the Herb trader in my Garrison on Draenor-EU yesterday. Meanwhile, today Wowhead says he's supposed to be up in the EU on the 4th, which is today - and that's impossible since he WAS up yesterday already.

@gleaming tendon It's definitely a browser extension that causes that. I've had numerous people point it out as a site bug and once they disable their extensions they figure it out. I can't recall which one specifically causes it, perhaps you can try it out and clarify which it is. 😃

@amber ocean The ZAM Support Desk goes directly to me and can be used for any of our sites. But, for now, we haven't implemented it directly with Wowhead. That'll probably be early next year. But Wowhead is an option in the Product choice drop down when creating a ticket with it.

My guess is it's hiding/blocking something that is causing the layout to change in such a way that the box doesn't know to adjust. 😐 It's an unfortunate side affect, one of those kind of things that's hard for us to help with since we can't compensate for every browser extension to exist.

Tooltips get really funky around the right edge of the screen if you have Premium and have images enabled. Up until the point where the tooltip itself hits the right edge things are smooth like normal, but if you keep moving the mouse to the right the tiooltip starts flickering with every mouse movement, and will often flicker on/off each frame if you leave the mouse still.

I requested on a form a while back to add more script-friendly tools and such from wowhead for PlaySound and all that. ^^;
the PlaySound change has broken a LOT of addons. Particularly, those that had sound when you clicked a button. In a way, though, its been good. It weeds out unsupported addons.

I'll drop it here then 😃 I noticed that the details of current world quests are displayed on their relevent pages. I take from that information that somewhere in the depths of the wowhead databases is the information about how often they're up, when they were last up etc. Is it possible to make this available to the world? It's more "important" for WQs which give specific rewards, for example profession WQs with recipie rewards, but in general it is interesting information to get an idea of how random the WQs actually are
We often see comments of "haven't seen this up for months", this way you'd be able to see exactly when it was last up 😄

Quests should be showing, those are obtained from Blizzard's API. Double check that you've Updated the profile recently.

It's likely a local cache in your area, part of our CDN, that has the stale version. It should resolve itself relatively soon, a day at most.

I'm actually not sure how to explain it very easily, but there are many servers all around the world users access, our site is the "origin" and these servers only check the "origin" every once in awhile to get updated info. At some point this tooltip wasn't working and the servers checked our site and then "saved/cached" the bad version. We've sent a purge to everyone but it can take several hours for all of them to recheck the "origin" for current/correct info.
So to clarify, you're not the only one and we recognize that. We've made a change that should result in this being fixed soon.
If you'd like the tooltip I can give you a screenshot of the working version.

Hi, it might be a strange question, but is it possible to download data about the gather location of farming nodes for addon creation? As far as the gateway, the flag of 'NPC not in game' or 'item not available' those kind of things... 99.9% are from Blizzard's own data.
Sometimes it's wrong... sometimes I'd guess they just don't recognize it as 'in game' since it's not something you can really interact with? I'd only be guessing really.

Hey! I'm in the middle of updating the page on Wowpedia, for the cut Moro'gai faction that never made it out of beta. So far I've added a few items and all the NPCs I was able to find with a simple search. I can't find the items through the search, but was able to just guess my way to 5 of them, through IDs, as I already had the name of one of them.

Yeah, if you're on live looking at your comments, if they're posted on PTR it shows (Deleted) but switch to PTR and you'll see them showing properly. It's just a limitation involved with these two databases being separate.

been having an issue where a lot of enchants aren't available in the profiler. for example on this one here: https://www.wowhead.com/list=447/ascala-herald-of-the-titans-gear#0-equipment-set
the only neck enchants i can select are the draenor ones for haste, for example. no crit or mastery or any other stat. this happens regardless of what level i set the profile to. this isn't the only thing it happens with, just an example.

Hi, when I search the database for items with particular secondary stats like haste and want to sort it. It still doesn't do it as you would expect.
You see mixed values in terms of you get rank 1 a high number followed by a smaller (rank 2) and followed again by a high number (rank 3)

Basically from what we can tell is it was translated from English to French (Paul S. Kemp was born in Michigan and graduated from University of Michigan) so the translation is already a little weird. So we're translating it back to English from French from English.
I mean, it's a book titled the "Troll Wars." Whether or not it has anything to do with the next expansion, though... I slightly doubt it honestly, but it's definitely hopeful, especially if we're adding "subraces" to Trolls. :v
