Suno should go for smaller models, specialized in a few genres, and then add a style layer to the output. I'm now thinking of doing some of this stuff myself. A lot of new research in AI has come out lately.

I also think a "one fits them all" is very difficult, you always have to do a trade-off for some use-cases and usually the fringe groups get cut as they don't generate the main revenue or traction

If you look at the top tracks on Spotify and then use Suno to generate something similar, you could create content ready to upload to Spotify. That shows how version 4.5 excels in certain areas, but it’s not quite what I need at the moment.

Yeah, I get why people like it and acknowledge I'm not the main audience for it, v3.5 is fine to me, if there only was a slightly less glitchy version of it i'd be satisfied, it takes forever to improve the quality in edit but at least the songs at their core and setup are what I was looking for

I was able to generate some voices on v4.5 which I struggled with achieving on v3.5 for example really crystal clear high soprano, bell resonance, generated a persona from the v4.5 output and v3.5 now can generate sweet songs with it, so everything has a use

Well, the ultimate [money making] goal is to have an adequate quality that's entertaining. Not perfect audio quality. As there are old classic analogue songs that can't compete with the level of quality now, but still just fine to listen to among the rest, I figure most of my songs have met that benchmark.

I feel like it's because there are multiple different things a persona is trying to preserve. As much as people complain about them I think they're very useful, personally.

I wonder whether personas are composed of a set of seed values behind the veil. That would explain:

• "My songs all sound the same" (with similar prompts)
• "My personas from older versions don't work well with new versions" (because the seed is interpreted differently now)

I also tried a while back to do the following and Suno errored out on me:

• Crop a song (not really crop, just copy the full song to remove its original persona)
• Make a new persona from the cropped song
• See Suno tell me that there was an error making the persona

On v4.5 nothing seems to be interpreted, the songs I get have nothing to do with the persona as if none was active at all, there's no adherence to anything from style, over instruments to the singer, but I've heard v4.5 personas are a hiss or miss ( ) on v4.5 as well
V4 used to be very bad with the personas I had as well but a month ago there was some update so they work better on V4 now

That's really interesting because a Persona I made from December in v4 definitely still will cause 4.5 to use a very similar if not identical riff, and very likely keep her same voice intonation... at least until it invariably decides to put her on a cliffside at sunrise with dragons flying overhead for no reason despite me trying to force the model to stop being that way.

Oh I believe you! I think it's more that the way the values are used changes, or maybe even what is considered a valid value to begin with.

For instance, I feel like the reason I got an error trying to recreate a persona as described above is because of possibly a change to the base datatype of the seeds and they were no longer able to convert from the original format to the new one. Like maybe it's an incompatible size, or worse they stored the data as a string and then couldn't parse it back to its primitive number without throwing an exception

What I did was I made a Persona of the full song, Covered in v4.5 using that Persona and (mostly) the same lyrics.
After I identified where it started to deviate, I Cropped the original song to near where it changes, and then Persona'ed that Crop and used it for the Extend

and in the process, I got an even more bangin' second solo

That would require that you get a shred of the original output in the first place, which i've never been able to get with v4.5

Some folks have used persona to great effect... but what I have been seeing in the last few months is an expectation that Persona are vocal presets, and Persona are most assuredly not that. I would love for Suno to have vocal presets, and presets for band make up and style. I feel that once these things make it into Suno, it will make a lot of other AI platforms obsolete...

Hey, everyone. Quick question: has anyone figured out how to get 4.5 to actually honor breaking instructions? It's my one complaint about the new model, but it's a DOOZY. Out of more than 400 generation pairs, not a single one has acknowledged any attempt to get it to just play some music between vocal sections, unlike 3.5 and 4.0 where it was ridiculously simple.

One thing I found out accidentally that subs get their videos automatically generated if they publish a song.
If kept private, they would need to manually gen.

In my mind, it shouldn't be that hard to implement a blocking system. It just involves an additional step of q boolean check if there are any users in the block database for yourself and remove the entry if there was.

Though I never worked on the scale Suno delivers to so I do not know how much of an impact it would have on loading time

Not in the specific way you think. It might bring in some of your vocals elements, it will try to follow your melody and then apply music. And if you apply the exact lyrics, you may get a nice song with a great vocal regarding the lyrics, but be off on melody and voice quality.

Generally, the best answer is try it and see. But follow up is , no, it's not simply going to write music around your vocal, no scan your voice and have your authentic voice singing a song outright.

1st question. Yes. CReate output. Click Get Stems to filter out vocals. May need to run the instrumental stem through Cover 1ce or 2ce and Remaster the same. Then you'll have a karaoke track to sing to.

Reminder, you'll need to "copy" the instrumental first by cropping the whole song before you can cover it.

Also, you may, if it helps, run Get stem again to rid as much of the vocals from the instrument track portion. ( it will naturally have vocal overbleeds)

If you've burned enough credits it probably is time to give 4.5 a break and wait for the June 1st release to see if they've fixed your issues, replaced them with other issues, or made them worse.

Craft a persona from a maximally shimmery song and keep making new personas from the most shimmery version you can.

If this is a consistent issue, You could try inserting an intro instrumental at the start.
Either through metatagging (e.g. [Short <mood> <instrument*> intro]) where the *instrument can be specific (e.g. solo guitar shred) or generic (use "instrumental" for this), so long as the instrument is used in that genre or had been defined.

Alternatively, you can use audio upload or generate an intro on another model (e.g. 3.0 which is better at more niche genres).

If you do this, you can simply fade in or trim off the problematic area(s).

If that does not work, you could try providing your prompts so we can try to look for an alternative, though this is easier by providing a link to your song and approx timestamp of the issue

Great idea on inserting a longer intro time using some music. I'll try that next. The issue I have with using multiple models for different parts is the quality differences between them are noticable to me when trying to mix them together. With AI its very difficult to get similar sounding tracks on purpose. Fading or trimming sadly, wouldn't work for important vocals especially when its an intimate composition where the music lowers to make the vocal stand out. I'm wondering if this is what I have heard called AI fatigue? The best output I got was just before signing up. Once I signed up its been hit or miss and a down hill ride as far as vocals go. Unless I switch Genre's then its like resetting the AI vocals. Switch to hip hop or pop and whalla clear vocals. I suppose If I were working on multiple albums of varying genre's that would be a perfect way to rest the AI vocal generation. But, if you are like me and want to remain focused on a single project until its done, not that good.

Trying to create acoustic or folk-style songs on Suno with live drums and original chord progressions – but it keeps ignoring my prompts.
Even with clear keywords like “drums-driven” or “emotional tension”, I still get the same generic vi–IV–I–V and no drums at all.
I’m paying for creativity, not repetition.
This needs to be fixed. What can we do to make it happen?

1. I think the AI can only generate parts of a song for a certain length of time which is when it resamples to stich the next part when continuing. This assumption is based on how, sometimes, you can hear quality differences at specific time points like 1:30:00 in 4.0 iirc
2. These quality differences from the potential resampling is due to the AI picking up noise you may not hear. This is why degradation/noise increases at certain points, the AI thinks it is part of the song, had it part of the analysis, tries to recreate which results in it building up
3. There is no such thing as "AI fatigue" (well, for this case, not people getting tired of topics related to AI). Remember, despite how amazing AIs can seem, they are still programmed executions - the difference is that these Narrow AIs are very good at recognizing and continuing patterns in the area they were trained in. It is not like a real person and does not face our limitation (though the equivalent of being fatigued for them would be lack of RAM available for usage, heh. It will slow the process down but will not fundamentally change it.)
4. The differences in quality heavily depends on your prompts, especially the style prompt. Differences from identical prompts is due to RNG (as we cannot control the seeds)
5. Did you try to use descriptors when defining the vocals? You can even have moods. For example: melancholy smooth male vocals (note: while sad and melancholy both relate to sadness, the patterns associated with those terms are different. A great example is the effect of spelling "a capella" vs "acapella")
6. I often tell people to be more specific in defining the subgenre(s) they want, not to use the simple broad genres. This will give you patterns related to the style you actually want and often sounds better due to the smaller pool size
   (One more point)

7. You can kind of influence quality using style prompts like "high quality", "studio", "vinyl", etc. This is likely because these terms were present in the AI training. The results of this would be to use the patterns learned from pools of music with those description leading to decreased presence of low quality music poisoning the pattern process

I was unaware you could prompt for vocal moods and was viewing the outputs more like a pull of a slot machine lever. I do use meta tags for lyric structure but apparently not enough for the actual instrumental intros, solos and outros. I will attempt some more precision with these models when defining the structure in the style description box. I kept thinking that box was limited to literally style types. Despite this handicap I have successfully created enough quality songs with my lyrics to publish two Country albums so I cannot complain too much. I just wish it were more consistent in the vocal output. Even using a persona results in variation and distortion that sways from the original.

If you are using the 4.5 model, don't be afraid to use the magic wand tool, it helps a lot. Press it again if it does not quite describe what you want. (If the magic wand prompt does not appear when you generate, copy what generated > clear the style via garbage can by the magic wand > paste in the genned style prompt)

Just had a good test for the Wand tool. Just went through 10 iterations of a song trying to get the AI to do what I wanted using styles and meta tags. On the 11th try I had used the Wand and it added some extra descriptive text and I got a version of the song that was really good.

These dedicated programs typically function better than Suno's stem splitter

In 4.5 mode when I use persona to create new songs with completely different lyrics, 6 or 7 out of 10 new music are too similar to the original one that I used to create the persona (the melody)

And there was even this case where the new music not only sounded like the original one for instrumental parts, it didn't even fully follow the new lyrics I gave, when it came to Chorus part it used the lyrics of the original one

By "clear vocals" do you mean, "a track with only vocals and no instruments"? Because if so, the answer is yes, but it is REALLY TRICKY. If you just mean clean-sounding vocals, Suno cand do those really easily in 4.5, and pretty well in the others, depending on your genre/style (if you're looking for anything rock based, favor 3.5 over 4.0; anything in styles that are more pop or country (or related), 4.0 is better than 3.5).

I'm running into a very odd issue. A song is way too long and cut off, so I'm extending it, no biggie. Its resuming right at the bridge. But Suno gets through the first stanza of the bridge, and instead of moving on to the next it just repeats that stanza again. I've run it like 6 times and every generation does the same thing. Any suggestions?

Two things... 1) What version are you using? 2) Often times, this is a "timing of the extension" issue. As near as I can tell, Suno "preloads" what it's going to do next as it goes along... if you are having trouble with it repeating the same snafu or similar over and over again, bring your extension time back just a bit.

I have observed the same thing. I expected a Persona to only copy the voice characteristics, much like the RVC voice conversion programs.

Maybe there should be an Orchestra thing that is like a Persona but only preserves the instrumentation while the Persona only preserves the vocal style. (If they are actually separate things in how it works)

This is actually my preferred method, I generally get what I need from that and almost always a fail with the editor. One thing to make sure of is to remove the original lyrics from teh window and replace them with ONLY the extended lyrics and tags, and make sure the styles window is also complete with the original styles prompt.

The real issue with Suno’s output is that after a break, the final part of the song often returns with completely different compression, volume, or mastering settings. It’s either too quiet, too loud, or the melody loses width. sometimes even sounding mono. I have countless examples of this. Isn’t there a function like @bugs to report these problems? Out of 100 songs, maybe 1 comes out decently pre-mastered and fixable. But these issues? I can’t fix them. Boosting the section doesn’t help. Compression just flattens everything. It’s frustrating to face this every time without a way to resolve it.

Since @hollow hare called out people who complain that the new models wreck their old output and that proper prompting will get you what you want I will gladly ask you what you would suggest here. Some parameters

• I'm using a persona that has a voice tone I like a lot, and it sometimes keeps that tone even in 4.5.
• Lyrics are throwaway. This was just me testing how to get harmonies in vocals.
• I tried to use an identical prompt with each generation.
• using or omitting "No" style prompts doesn't seem to change much of anything as you'll see in a moment.

Here's a 3.5 gen. It is pretty much exactly what I expect it to sound like down to the note. The drum style, the guitar phrases, the vocalist's actions. It keeps exactly the right feeling, mood, pace, everything. I'm actually sad it's wasted on throwaway lyrics. It disobeys the lyrics but I didn't care much. I assume it's because the persona was from a Japanese song made from v4 in January.

Here's a 4.5 gen. This doesn't sound much like how I want. it breaks into soaring lyrics, it wants to sing anthems, it thinks she belongs on a cliffside at sunrise with dragons flying overhead. Here, in 4.5, I slightly modify this to remove the [forbidden] zone that specifies "no" to a lot of things including screaming. the first thing it does is scream at me.

That said, the genre determines the vocals more than ever now. you can demand all you want not to have screaming lyrics but 4.5 assumes that if you primarily start with Thrash as your prompt that is what you get, at least a little bit. This is different from previous models where I nearly had to fight tooth and nail to force screaming in certain contexts.

You can upload up to 120 seconds of audio, in which you can use to extend from, or make a persona from. However, if Vocals are detected, you can not use it to make any song that you intend to make public.

there is absolutely a bug in v4.5 when you have an instrumental track longer then 5:30 minutes. After the break it turns down the sound to mono. I have such good tracks and they all go tits up after the break...

Likely if only using Suno , Replace might be the only attempt at doing something like that in one step from your original.

If you highlight/delete the lyrics in that verse and either leave it blank to click Replace.... or put in place markers to keep that time stretched over that same period as with lyrics. Such as either random characters, commas, or even hmmms or ahhhhhs. But honestly, I have not seen what 4.5 would do specifically with a "deleted" lyrics area , so i don't know it it would keep the same instrumental going for the exact same length.

Worth a try though, right.

Of course, if they are going to take your track offsite and record to it, then do everything else offsite as well. Why use Suno to edit a finished song.

Once you upload a song, you can extend off of it, then click "Get Whole Song" under Create in the menu to splice the two together. Or if preferred, you could just work straight from the extend without the upload at that point.

You can, as well, do a Cover directly of the upload.

That's all that can be said. You cant expect it to simply lay music over your uploaded vocals. It wont do that perfectly. It creates a generative attempt at something creative. Though, if you add lyrics, it will make attempts to sing the lyrics as written using nuances and motifs, if at minimum even, the melody to create something nice based on your style direction.

Yes. You can upload your talking. But don't expect it to "auto tune" a song for you. However, it may use qualities on your voice and add snippets of the words you speak and come up with something creative..... or just give an instrumental with an occassional break with spoken words. Who knows.

It has to figure out what you've uploaded, so it's more iffy if you Cover it straight off the upload. It may even just give a 4 minutes hallucination.

Youre talking about the actual persona tool. A persona on an instrumental, honestly I'm not the most experienced to persona an instrumental. Mine are most always on a vocalized song as an "artist" persona.

Suno does still tend to repeat riffs or arpeggios. You would need to list what you find help make change us , like, inprovisation, free interpretation, fingerstyle, etc.and experiment which works good with your genre.

I ran your full lyrics and prompts as a test and got same original 3 minute mark / So we think Sunonthinks your song should only be about 3 minutes.

. Ran two, "chorus" extentions , and got 2 seconds responses. Same as you (for 8 seconds)

I did run an extension at 3:00 and it gave me a full chorus of about 32 seconds extension. But that's still ending it short.

And I used the Edit UI to test extension with full lyrics and got two 30 second instrumentals (but I think I had clicked instrumental earlier before going to Edit UI) So, just running an "instrumental" extension might at least get us past that 3 minute mark. Yea Suno is stuck on think you don't need another chorus and possible it logically can see past your chorus -- in the future, you might get more distance to add a short tag line extension or a two line lift extension or just instrumental then back to the chorus.

However..... when i ran a 4.0 Remaster first....and extended (i pasted in your full lyrics) id get full 2 minute extensions. You said you tried that? With the House style repetitive chorus, this may be the way around. REMASTER FIRST to give extension a bit more seed info.

You can upload spoken words along with posting the lyrics and it should follow to try putting some music behind the lyrics and even, in a couple of them, say 15% , pull off some nuances in the character in your voice, but not emulate exactly. I use Replace to change even just a word. Often I use it to change out a verse, a line. I use it to give me alternates for chord progressions and melody. It's all pretty handy and hasn't ever made an entirely new song.

Replace may or may not change words in a verse. I made a song months ago that was very resistant to its lyrics being altered. It required covering the entire song, but that lost the original version's soul.

@worn thistle A good "one year" tester has suggested remaster backwards has been working for them. 4.5 first then 4.0 Remaster. But I haven't run mine through yet to test. But there is that. It's a work around of course. And most of my originals are 1) good fidelity 2) not a 3.5 which I've Remaster under 4.5 only and 3) with my understanding the more I gen , then more likely I'll have a variety to choose from that work.

If its just poor fidelity in a spot, which is usually the case rathee than the entire song sounding off, I just over to Replace, swap it out and done.

Weird word spell, it make weird bass, weird melody, weird voice, weird [command], and why the hell it makes random (male or female vocal) when it say in "exclude style" male, male vocals, male singer. And in "style description" Female, Female vocal, Female singer. It's broken. Even when i remaster the song in V4.5 the volume drops extremely down, the bass is all the way of the song, weird crack voice, like jumping from deep octave to high octave and the opposite. And it seems even the V4 is "downgrade" too, the vocals are broken too, the effervescence on vocals It wasn't as bad as it is now.

V4.5 sometimes doesn't even know what to do with those proms. And what worked with V4, that I used two different languages ​​many times, doesn't work anymore and when I use it, it's disastrous

It's either good or bad, if the folks on the other side limit physically what you can send as proof. But a contract is a contract. There no such thing as a standard boilerplate document which works for everyone. As you say, it's extra effort on our part when a separate document might be produced with the needed info and title "Commercial License" at the top, though it adds no more information to what's already available: TOS and receipts and timestamps.

My Spidey sense is that Suno has considered it and certainly they are aware and they've been addressing this on a case by case basis where a free member moves to a paid member and asks Suno for an endorsement/license.

The play counter has always been a bit odd - the first few plays will update quickly but the more plays you have, the more plays are needed for it to refresh with the new counter. So you might need like 5-10 plays for it to update if it's at 80.

i gave v3.5 a song consisting of basically 4 lines of lyrics and it whipped up a masterpiece again with minimal prompt tags, it's just so easy to use once you have a persona plugged in

You can spend some effort and experimenting and come up with some nice suno made vocals to personas. Right now, it limits against using uploaded vocals for reasons of those who will try to emulate celebrity artists. Unfortunately that affects the rest of us as well.

I find that even if you give it explicit directions, it has a very heavy bias on what it thinks a music composition should be and will fight you hard to do what it wants instead of what you want.

I tried it in a few genres besides metal and found it adheres to the same pattern. A bog standard boring riff or phrase to start, leading to some rising or hopeful moment and then a euphoric break like a cinema or a victory, and then either a gentle fadeoff or an abrupt end.

Genre doesn't matter. Doom metal? The happiest most hopeful doom metal you've heard... it'll forget it was playing a metal song even.
Moody country? Things will be okay in the end.
Dark EDM? Eventually it'll explode into something soothing.

I want to give this a shot at some point. I'm having a challenge even finding a first 15 seconds that do what I'd really like. The older models felt very adventurous with an immediate hook that made me sit up and take notice. Maybe 5-10 seconds at a time is really the way to go with 4.5 but I wonder if the end results will be as good even doing this. It certainly is more expensive. Another plus as far as Suno is concerned I think. The more they force that kind of action the more money they make.

Is there a place to comment on the three major issues 4.5 have? I been using it and loving it. But I have 3 major complaints. I know it is beta so they are still working on it.

Will post them here just in case others noticed:

1. 4.5 does not seem to be able to handle instrumental. I was able to do in 4.0 a 2 minute intro of just instrumental before it sang. I can't do that in 4.5. It is obsessed to just keep singing and do at most 10 second music breaks no longer. Don't matter if I put [Break] [Instrumental solo] etc.
2. 4.5 is obsessed to end the song just 1-3 seconds after the final word. Sometimes I like there to be a musical impact afterwards, but since no instrumental solo or breakdown tag is working, they are pretty much pointless in 4.5, it just decides the song shall end.
3. Extend... Yeah extend it is going like: Yeah I will extend for 5 seconds but I won't do anything you ask me. So the whole Extend function is broken.

1. What genre are you trying to gen for? Maybe I can give it a shot on my end (let me know what you want)
2. Yeah, I had a hard time pushing it if it was not classical or lo-fi music. [<instrument> Interludes] helped a bit but... well, I haven't played much with prolonging music on purpose
3. Yeah, I heard this issue. Thankfully for you, clips < 8 sec gets refunded.

For point #3, there are often two suggestions I see:

• Keep extending the small clips (if they have something) until they have a long extension
• or go back a bit further while the music is playing. A few seconds can make a big difference

1. I switch genre a lot, but for 4.5 it been a mix of jazz, nordic rock and soft acoustic.
2. I never had this issue with 4.0. Well, that one had the issue it often could not stop itself playing instrumental, now we got the polar opposite where it just want to end and refuses to do a fitting musical ending. But at least in 4.0 you can fade out or just fix it with an extend.
3. It is unfortunate, because I really like to have some songs to get a moment to breathe at the end. The problem is when it does a great ending but only got 2 seconds at the end, so I either has to redo the entire ending passage because I learned in 4.0 that cutting mid-lyrics is a bad idea.

One Style Prompt I tried to extend with lyrical notes it refused was this one "A melancholy jazz-classical fusion opens with soft radio static, joined by a gentle piano motif and lush cello and viola undercurrents, A soulful, nurturing French female vocal weaves through sweeping violin melodies, The arrangement grows with subtle orchestral depth and jazz-infused soul rhythms". I had it shorter, I just been trying out the 4.5 creative button that is why it is so long.

You can check your phone number (while you are not logged in) by going to the Create New account panel (NOT the SIGN-IN Panel) and use the optional phone number sign-up, as if signing up with your number for new account.

If you enter your original account phone number, it will give you a notice that that phone number is already registered -- and cannot use again. That's good.

If the number is NOT correct, it will try to send you a code to sign up for a new account. Of course DO NOT go further -- you are only verifying that you are applying the correct number to sign in. If it sends a code, that number is NOT your correct original phone number.

Are you seeing your actual Avatar you have been using and User/Handle name? Make sure you feel you are actually signed into the original account.

@steady kelp Alright, here we go. I don't know what the team did, but I noticed a difference since yesterday, I just couldn't comment until today. Did the v4.5 model get any recent updates? If so, you really should let us know afterwards, because the change is noticeable. Super upbeat and energetic pop songs are sounding much better now, thank God. The vocal quality has improved, backing vocals too (finally!), and the instruments are more defined (hallelujah). I can actually hear the mix and tell what each instrument is doing. I generate a lot of mainstream pop, and last week the quality was pretty weird, robotic sounding, with instruments that were muddy and unrecognizable. But today, it's way better. And no, it’s not just placebo, there really have been improvements. Just compare with older tracks and you'll see. Thanks to the team! 👌🏻🤩
