My suggestion when you create Baroque music, specify technique or instruments of your favourite composer. I love Bach, but I'm not sure if I am allowed to write Bach into style tags or song name.
#1256301881966198805 I show an example in this thread, a playlist called “Using Artist Names as Metatags” — it doesn’t work with “The Beatles” or “Pavarotti”, two VERY recognizable musical styles.
Neither worked 👎
Thanks for the answers so far. I was pretty sure that the things I was asking was asking too much of suno, but it's better to ask cause there are so many people out there with tips/tricks you know. I'm gonna sit down and search/read through this channel cause some of my questions have surely been discussed before loads of times.
Did you noticed that if you have long lyrics per line, it will not sound good? But try Bossa Nova it will change everything because Bossa nova is more suitable for long lyrics. But they fit to sad or relaxing mood. So if your lyrics is long maybe some telling style like Bossa nova could be used. Otherwise to make some lyrics optimization.
I realize this is going to sound wildly dismissive of a lot of very reasonable and sensible questions and frustrations.
The VAST majority of times that Suno doesn’t follow what people say it’s because incorrect expectations had been set about the resulting songs.
Doesn’t mean that Suno can’t make ASTOUNDING one-shots, but breaking things down into chunks by taking the songs you like, then using the extend function to “overwrite” the parts you don’t like.
I linked to my pool party thread in my above comment, I try to put helpful stuff in there (though admittedly I haven’t had as much of a chance to “beef it up” yet)
Hillbillies are Da Bomb
Have you heard Hillbilly Death-Flamenco Guitar Operetta yet? https://suno.com/song/48796a92-35d1-4d89-a769-8d29980afdbf
Hillbilly Death-Flamenco Guitar Operetta song. Listen and make your own with Suno.
I've probably done at least that many tests 😄
I didn't get my sneeze... but suno did literally laugh at it, at least
you can, you can also do stuff like bachzarthoven
which I 've used a lot
In general, baroque is a useful tool because its basically the "best" in terms of non-stochastic tokens. Baroque is essentially "what's the correct next note" from most people's ears, imo, and on continuations if you include elements of it, especially if its going too far off base, it can be great
in terms of keeping it in a good composition
and pulling everything together
in a sensiscal way
Crunkcore, Scene, Male, Robotic Autotune, Party, MySpace song. Listen and make your own with Suno.
anyway, this is cool af
maybe one of the coolest I've seen on suno
is this a genre?
Classical terms like baroque are very strong and often super fun in any genre of music, for sure. I need to expand my vocabulary of them.
so it, broadly, tokenizes into bar and roque
so you can do things like post-barbar
to get interesting progressions
the roque imo is what holds the more weight towards classical instrumentation
I tried to tease out the prompt a bit. Just a few quick tests, but 'crunkcore' seemed to be the most important. (It didn't make awesomely bad singers like that though, at least not reliably.)
ok crunkcore
I gotta make that wow
the crappy drum machine
in the back
I want it to progress into trad classical tho
I think it would improve it
but I'll work it
you @ the wrong person
@desert cipher
cursed that is
crunkcore is actually the wrong genre, rather what i did to get those cursed spicy vocals was that i put robotic autotune
hey I can't find the lyrics tab after playing the song anymore, is it removed?
and then add it being a broken gen on top
Hard to say, but I thought crunk and maybe myspace was doing a little bit. Kind of similar vibes I think?

Crunkcore, Crunkcore-crunk, Myspace, myspace-crunk, crunk-space song. Listen and make your own with Suno.
On Desktop, I still see the song lyrics on the right column of the screen. But I'm guessing since you said "tab" you are on a mobile device?
Yeah I was able to see it with the desktop site toggle before, but now it doesn't show anymore
Amazing answers above, not intending to supersede the previous suggestions, but just to contribute to the existing answers;
1- What is the best way to write meta tags? - using anything more than 3 words in a [metatag] seems to be related to instances of it being misinterpreted as lyrics. I usually use 2~3 words separatd by hyphens to "tokenize" them as a single concept instead of being parsed as 2 separate words. https://platform.openai.com/tokenizer (this is a research tool for visualizing how an AI "reads" your prompt, you still need to put in comparative and contrasting research as followup to your observations to gain an understanding)
2- In what order does suno read and use meta tags? "Prompt Order" - is on my list of topics to create Prompt Experiment Playlists for, #1256301881966198805 if you wanted to suggest different "prompt snippets" for me to post so you don't need to waste your credits on getting familiarized with things. Beyond that I haven't experimented too much with it, but Jon Fly knows his stuff, so I'll keep his words in the back of my mind as I experiment with that.
3- Is it better to use a short prompt with few genres - In my opinion, it's helpful to build familiarity with a small number of style prompts, that way you have a relatively good idea of what sorts of outputs you can expect from a particular prompt -- it won't make ALL of Suno make sense, but getting as firm of an understanding about ANYTHING gives you a foothold to understand how similar variations in lyrics/metatags/styles can drastically change the output. For instance, I usually use "indie math-rock" as a base for my songs ("math-rock" tokenizes the same with or without the hyphen, but I just prefer the way the prompt-decoration looks). If I want to "calm down" the wild guitar, I add thematic prompt words, like indie math-rock, sleepy, winter, dreaming -- and when listening to the resulting tracks, I try to apply the lessons from Music Appreciation class and try to recognize how these results differed from "indie math-rock" by itself. This helps me understand different ways that Suno understands my requests, and if I feel like one of the prompts is too strongly weighted, or not weighted strongly enough, I can play around with it until I find an adjective-prompt that suits me best. Classical musical terminology is VERY strongly weighted, while more "colloquial" terms might be misinterpreted.
4- : Is there any way to state how long a song part should be - Not specifically through prompting, but you can always place an extension point anywhere in a song to try to "rewind to that point" and continue the song where you wanted it to go -- if a solo is going on for too long, or doesn't go long enough, place an extension point a tiny bit before the part where you want something to change, and embrace how ridiculously overpowered Extensions are 💪
5- Is there a way to force it to use a specified vocal melody - Not 100% reliably through prompting, but there's a lot of really neat methods and quirks people are discovering, but audio upload is a super powerful tool for ensuring you have exact control over the context input used when generating extensions -- if you reupload your own content from Suno with adjustments made, you can turn Suno into a Musical Ouroboros.
6- can you manually insert pauses - The best way I've seen this handled is through natural language processing like you're suggesting, the pool party thread above has examples of using "commands" to try to insert spaces, vs just "typing the spaces out" with punctuation or whitespace. (latter works better)
7- any way to reliably get rock drums - Hrm. That's actually a good one. I know some people have been focused enough to try to recreate specific electric piano tones, so I wouldn't be surprised, but I'm not sure of a good example to reference off the top of my head...
oh yea deffo
BTW for robotic voices, if you prompt an chunky electronic instrumental, you often get some sick autotune-robotic-vocoder vibes by default even without explicitly propmting for them. This was started from the "lyrics as instrumental melody guidance" example as I posted above. A large amount of the extensions from the pure instrumental were robot voices, just from the audio itself:

FM synthesis, Wavetable synthesis, MPC-X, Sampling, Sad Trombone, non-music, field recording, audio engineering song. Listen and make your own with Suno.
btw you might style prompts in my songs like "FM synthesis, FM-synthesis, FM synthesis FM synthesis, FM-synthesis-FM-synthesis." This isn't done to achieve a specific music effect. Probably some of those versions are not helpful. But I'm just hedging my bets by shotgunning a bunch of variations to save time and credits, when I'm just being lazy or prompting for pure fun.
I do like teasing out precise prompts, but sometimes I just want to make music 😄
Just throwing silliness at Suno... and it churned out a robotic duet https://suno.com/song/8acdd62e-7b42-4bac-8c73-0aa15cacfaad
Hillbilly Crunkcore, Dynamic MaleGuitar Vocaloidamins, Minty Fresh, Operetta song. Listen and make your own with Suno.
Vocaloidamins nice. But how do you have so many public playlists, but not a single public song on your profile 😂
We've finally stems, but.. why they use AI to separate the track?? Holy sh.. it sounds even worse than before. Instrument track all with bleeding, but vocals are just awful 😖... that's needs heavy improvements
heh. that's what fits in my browser window
Great playlist 👍

@naive quail Is this a pure text prompt, no upload? Might be the cleanest thunderstorm song start I've seen if this is text only:

Rain Storm, Thunder. Wind, Doom Metal, Horror, Ambient Noise song. Listen and make your own with Suno.
"Minty Fresh", I love your prompt decorations. I can distinctly note a hint of wintergreen.
Toker should absolutely be an alpha tester at the very least. I never got the chance to shout from the rooftops 😛
Yea, that's pure Suno. The rain and thunder is v3. I think part1 was only up to the [Pause]/\/\/\[Break] in the prompt and I extended from the demon screech, probably bouncing back to v3.5
prompt noise ftw!
There was someone trying to replicate the weather noise and it didn't work out for them -- I wonder what all they used as lyrics/metatags/styles, as your example largely focused on the weather as a separate "instrument", whereas trying to reliably get that at the same time as a guitar solo might cause it to be diffused as a bass rumble or something, unless the weather was continued from an extension -- just thinking off the cuff on how I'd try to blend those sounds
It's because of the way suno generates the music as a complete mastered/mixed song. Suno doesn't work with stems 😦
Are you able to point out specific timestamps in the songs where the difference is most notably audible? I haven't had coffee yet, so I'm not fully awake
Yea, it was probably additional stuff in the style or lyrics.
I get better results separating the stems in my DAW 😂
I don't know why they called it Stems, it's not
I don't think you and I are the target audience for that feature, tho. 😄
"vocal remover" definitely describes it better, as Toker pointed out
yes
Yea. I think Vocal Separator would have been a better name for the current iteration.
most users have no idea what stems are and many of the ones who do have completely different expectations.
Oh, with the voice in good conditions would be awesome. So far I get really good results cleaning my voice stems with ozone 11 and Nectar 4
Bear in mind those are specific plug-ins or features in your DAW that have been specifically optimized to give those results -- the new stem feature is literally something they squeezed out of v3.5 while they're cooking v4. 👀
Well... it's a bad result..lol....
The wavs are linked just to provide the highest quality example, right? The problem isn't that the wav versions sound different than the .mp3 or mp4. Rather it's the 'Get Whole Version' that is different?
@graceful condor
I've definitely noticed differences in audio levels between the beginnings of part 1 and part 2 of songs I've made, but they're not present in the"Whole Song". Unfortunately I wasn't able to hear any differences from the 0:24 - 0:50 in either track, but I might not be "listening for the right thing"?
It doesn't fit OUR use cases, especially as we have preferred external tools -- but to the grandmother who finally has the chance to "karaoke" the song she made for her granddaughter?
To me, enabling that kind of interaction for millions of people who DON'T have the technical knowhow or means to use an external DAW, this is a really great feature. I'm excited to see how the quality improves, but as I'm sure will be pointed out -- you'll probably always get a better result using special, optimized software and tools.
Less bleeding and a clean voice would be enough
In the past when I downloaded single clips from suno, if i stitched them manually, the audio wasn't as smoothly merged as when Suno does Get Whole Song (tiny bit of clipping, or the volume levels didn't quite match, stuff like that). If I had to guess, Get Whole Song is doing something that isn't quite the same as stitching the raw audio. Probably it is supposed to be better than just stitching (and usually is?). So it might be working as intended, and just happen to change things in a not-great way in this particular case. But in the past there for sure have been some little audio quality bugs related to Get Whole Song, often very subtle, so a bug is very possible too.
So basically I don't know. Keep posting good any examples you notice. @unique stone has done some in depth testing on this in the past and may have some idea too. (I also have trouble hearing the difference in your clips on my regular non professional headphones!)
Somehow I doubt that knowledgeable users like yourself will ever be completely satisfied with the difference between an added web-feature and a professional stem separator plugin. 🤷♂️ I really hope to be proven wrong so I don't need to use BandLab.com/splitter anymore ❤️
I do have a headphone amp somewhere around here, and fancy headphones, but it might just be my ears honestly 😂
I use flstudio .. get really good results
I'm NOT crazy! I knew there had to be some weird "pops" or vocal disparity between the tracks.
Get Whole Song will also audible clip with mismatched versions, though only commonly with V2. (I still mix in V2 to my songs anyway though, it also can be fine.)
Are these 2 WAV files the clip and the "get full song" result?
At what point are you finding it sounds different?
(e.g. timestamp)
I've taken ~15 seconds from within that time range from both clips. Roughly (but not exactly) half of this is from one WAV, the other part is from the other. Do you notice where it starts to get worse?
v3 is still good for rain and thunder. Keeping the Suno from throwing in music too soon is the main challenge - probably why I was playing around with prompt noise in that earlier test. https://suno.com/song/372fb280-af4a-4cf3-81a2-e69d1a7de588
Here is also the left channels of both WAVs, where I have panned one of them to the right. If they are the same, it should sound like it is 100% mono.
...prompt noise does help to extend The Thundarz https://suno.com/song/32204fb1-112e-44bf-8eea-40e8c065cdeb
And here's the first WAV, with the second WAV inverted on the next track. This means you will only hear the differences between the two tracks. If there are no differences, there will be no sound.
To demonstrate this further, here's what a part toward the end (last extension I guess?) sounds like using this same method. Notice there is silence, and then suddenly the sound comes in - that'll likely be where the extension started.
@delicate idol is gonna kill me for continuing to use SD art of her as the playlist covers, but this is some good science.
I extended from that track @ 0:20
You'll like v3.5 -- v3 did a good enough job, only started to improvise in the second half of track 2, but since v3.5 didn't have a strong musical context to hook onto, it kinda did what it thought it was supposed to do.
Which is exactly what I was hoping it would do earlier 😄
Credit @SixStringToker for "part 1" ; https://suno.com/song/372fb280-af4a-4cf3-81a2-e69d1a7de588 |
Adding a context-relevant metatag, "[Crack!]" to try to elicit or accentuate further sound effects.
Yeah they are identical except for the part at the end where the extension has been added.
I put both into Audacity on separate tracks. The only thing I did was select the second track, and use "Effect > Special > Invert" on it. No gain adjustment.
Here's the waveform for the part of the two WAVs during the timestamp you gave me
Niiice!
In @graceful condor's defense, there have been instances where I 100%-stake-my-life-on-it that the audio when listening to part 1 and part 2 in the library/create screen, part 2 was notably "softer" in terms of gain and volume (at least in that particular instance), but it always came out clean when I would "Get Whole Song".
Not overly trying to mediate, but I somehow find myself torn between both sides; I'm not able to discern a difference as I said earlier, and I value the hamster's opinion a significant deal, BUT I have my own experiential bias, and while I'm not able to track down an example of it conclusively right now, I'm a firm believer.
It's like me and ghosts.
Like, I know every new type of "modern science" has done EVERYTHING to try to figure this stuff out, and no matter how much I see it proven that it's quackery -- I dunno man.
Like, I've heard it. So I know that it's out there... someway somehow. I'll pass ghost stories around a campfire, but if the resulting song is 👌 perfect by waveform analysis, that's all that matters, right? 🍻
I just tried amplifying that inverted clip to the maximum amount I could with Audacity - it is totally silent
If there is a difference between the two, it has to be something outside of Suno.
(When amplifying the above in Audacity it told me the new gain would be "-infinite dB" because there is no sound)
I slapped my little Udo onto my phone 😜 https://suno.com/song/d1eac5d6-0ee4-4087-a046-fc4466627d70
Traditional African Percussion, Udu, Djembe, Congas, Percussive, Not Kevin song. Listen and make your own with Suno.
Are lyrics in the videos no longer synced with the music?
I just regenerated a video when I changed the cover art, and I saw that in the video lyrics are coming behind.
I've noticed that it can get off time as it probably tries to reinterpret the synced lyrics -- I'd initially just written it off as a quirk, but do you think it's worth submitting as a #🪲┃bugs-web if there's a noticeably bad example of the timing?
I may do that for this specific song. Last chorus starts, and video is still at the previous verse...
#💡┃suggestions-web message Would something like this suit your needs?
It's how you set up Apple Music's synced lyrics with DistroKid
Something like that would be great.
I use Musixmatch for syncing the lyrics, do not use Distrokid for that.
The UI is better, but Distrokid is simpler...
hi! anyone that have used suno to remix a speaking vocal? is it possible with upload function?
What do you mean exactly? Use the same voice from the uploaded audio?
I tried the stem feature, but I am getting better results using spectral layers. Cool feature though once it works well
There's been a lot of instances where people have sung their own vocals, and then Suno was able to recall and continue a similar waveform pattern, so it more or less captured the intonation and timbre of the voice, but I just did a few experiments to see if it could "understand" and continue spoken word. I tried the opening paragraphs of Asimov's "The Last Question", and it's pretty funny when the vocal upload ends (~1:00) and it tries to continue my voice before just giving up and moving onto something that actually sounds like music. https://suno.com/song/fafa0cc2-21ec-44a0-893a-63d5630a0d31 "a face. a frace."
As a bonus, I tried extending directly from an inflection point ~0:33, and my browser's autosuggest gave me the most ridiculous scat-improvisations after I typed "skibbidy bop", and it turned out way funnier to me than I expected https://suno.com/song/4bf75bb1-a47a-468d-82c2-493050dd0fb0
"The Last Question"... Good choice 😄
Rooty booty patootootootootootootootootoot... So jazzy...
Maybe you can add a tag to force spoken.
Oh man, I've heard Spectralayers Pro 11 is AMAZING. Admittedly, that's a product that specializes in spectral analysis and stem isolation -- while I agree that the Stems / Vocal Separator feature in Suno has lots of room for improvement, but think of how AMAZING it must feel to people who aren't as tech-savvy as us -- I'd have a much easier time teaching my mom how to "get stems" from Suno than I would even teaching her how to install a DAW 🤣 ❤️
I knew there was a reason I liked you, and it wasn't just the highly technical analysis of stem separators
Yeah, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't singing along -- the key change was a pleasant surprise 😛
Spectralayers Pro 11 IS amazing. The output in most cases is really clean. The "extreme" option takes too long.
I hope Suno can generate the stems from the start in the near future, so instruments do not mix up. That would be amazing also.
@weary wharf ...is it difficult to learn? I know that people recommend those kinds of tools for getting really specific with the stem isolation -- I think Toker mentioned that he uses it to remove his cat meowing for attention in the background 😾
Any opinions on whether it would work as well on a really "full" sounding electronica song, or if it more excels at clearly-distinguishable instruments/vox? If I recall @teal raft was saying his songs are particularly "lush" and wasn't sure how well the process would apply.
I am using mostly Izotope as I got used to it too much.
Spectra does the same things, but tool names and UI is too different. For stem seperation it's great.
Yes it's possible to do amazing things.
In a song Suno generated, it put someone whistling, but the rest was really good, I did not want to re-generate and try to mix.
So I cleaned the whistle in Izotope. Select the visible line, and let it find the harmonics, adjust gain or let it analyze and "fill" checking the surroundings of the sound.
You are working on the spectrogram. Think of it like Photoshop for audio. You can do impressive stuff.
I also use it for cleaning the noise. You can select specific "areas" not just complete top-down. And clean the vocals in a final mixed audio.
Guitar picks, piano pedal noises, breaths, esses... You can clean a lot.
Because it's the first version of the Stems feature, which will be stems.
For all my experiments, Izotope is at least as good or better than everything else I've tried. And I got a great deal on it, so that's what I've been using.
don't pin your hopes on real stems, it's highly unlikey that will happen with the current state of the art
Photoshop for audio
That was my interpretation of it, but it seemed too wildly cool for that to be what it was. I figured that in "slicing" the spectral interpretation of it that you'd be destructively altering any adjacent waveforms (jesus, I'm way out of my element in terms of knowing specific jargon, but I hope that made sense?)
Nice! I use it mostly for removing random obnoxious acoustic guitar string squeaks... and the occasional stray cat meow.
😾🖕
It's not like working on waveform. Waveform is the audio signal. It's just a "gain" representation of the complete underlying sound.
Spectrogram is a frequency/time space. You can see "voice" -- check fast fourier transform for better understanding of what it is.
In there you can see the "voice" where it is in the frequency space, and clean. It will result a change on the waveform, but it is not changing the gain.
Well, that's the idea though... the state of the art evolving. Just compare where it was last year to now.
VOICE COLOR:
I would like the voices in the songs to have an ID so that you can use the same voice color again in another song.

exactly. The goalposts keep moving, and way faster than I think people appreciate.
The goal posts are moving at 40kph at least
looooots of copium
like, even if all of it slows down at some point
it's already blown past everything people thought possible just a decade ago
Even in the space of a year
When image generative stuff started popping out people were going "lol cute toy"
then it got better
"well it's nice but it could never X"
got closer
"heh I can tell"
yea, but in particular, if you spoke to someone ten years ago and showed them ai now they would freak tf out
then it passed the line
"RAGAHGAHGHAGHAG BURN IT ALL DOWN"
it's as big of a deal as the internet
yup, but like, it's not gonna happen
I still think an aspect of this
is that people don't like that we aren't all that complicated with our arts
some nice colors in a general formula
I don't think anyone is
an existential crisis of deep magnitude
I think that's the social component I don't understand
No, we aren't
the "mystique"
The difference is I am cool with that
others are not
is it good enough? Yeah? Great!
I can get into the specifics but that's shifting toward the people making this stuff
I actually firmly believe it can elevate good art in general
or deeper meanings that infest art like so many fleas
and like, it has
Is there a degradation in quality if u workout of the vocal and instrumental stems and export those fully? Or u need to workout of the stems + the full song and only touch those partsu need to edit.
It's easy enough to forget that this is still literal science fiction magic. Just because it's "easy" doesn't change how stupidly game-changing it is.
I wouldn't mind to pay more for a clean voice track, or choose your singer from a list. Maybe like a pro+ option
Stem Separation isn't 100% perfect as it currently exists -- if you have detailed feedback about what you think they should do better, it's most effective to give the team direct feedback through the link in #🚀┃updates message this post
If you have specific expectations, or if you're familiar with other stem separation methods, they might be more optimized -- but as they said, this is V1 of stem separation.
Oh man, I'd love that too -- unfortunately while we're able to give advice on trying to get the same vocal style between songs, it's not something that we're able to reliably prompt.
That's a good reason to upvote this known-suggestion, https://discord.com/channels/1069381916492562582/1252789683176345641, so the devs can see just how many people want to see it implemented 🙂 💪
I tried a workflow where i had the stems and the full song and was going to patch up just the part that needed the fix but the stems and song were not lining up. Ill keep trying that in other songs to see if its recurrent.
Already done, lol
I've been making music since the 80s... but when I tried Suno for the first time, my face was like ,, WTF " 🤣. I'm a big fan of science and technology, and I work as a composer and sfx artist for a game studio. I don't use the songs I produce in Suno for the company I work for, only for myself, and to try out how far AI has come. And Holy cow.... 😱
Like I said before, with a premium service, perfect stems, and a perfect voice without artifacts, Suno would be a perfect tool for professionals. And you can always swap the AI singer for a real one. But at least you've got an idea of what the final song could be. #music #technology #AI #Suno #composer
I put meta tags between lyrics like (choir ) . And styles . Works 65% .. and not every time
My song got cut off before ending, can I extend it to finish properly, with the style intact?
Extent option from the ending . Take out the lyrics
Does it create a longer “full version” or just an added part?
You must do it. Use the new ending and select full version
Ah I see, thanks! 🙏🏻
Great thanks! 👍🏻
🅿️ 🅰️ℹ️Ⓜ️💟♑

oooh what has happened? you cant make a song annymore without verses getting shuffled arround and repeated again and again?
♓🅰️♌🅱️🇪♑ ❤️
See https://discord.com/channels/1069381916492562582/1261146873331318835 for some great advice about that
There hasn't been any change made to the models afaik -- I know the over time I've started to include more and more in my lyrics/metatags/styles -- the more of which you hand to Suno to handle all at once, the more likely it is to get confused and either skip verses, sing them again, etc.
ok ty il do that. but it was not nessesary before though
Can you share the song you're working on and we can try to figure what might be happening?
it also alteres the end rime some places
To make it easier, can you share the timestamp where it starts to "not listen" or repeat?
1:20, etc
When is tzhe next suno version coming out? Have been unfaithful and made my last EP with udio, which needed a lot of attention in mixing/mastering afterwards as they have tons of hurtful frequencies, but overall its next level. can't wait for sunos answer, hope soon! 🙂
you see it on the lyrics when it starts to not follow it 😛 but i will check out the link and see if i can do something about it
What happened to the workflow section? There was a post there about why the repetition in verses happens and I wanted to check it out again. Ooooh man, I've made a solemn vow to not breathe until they release v4 -- so far I've blacked out 20 times, and each time I wake up, we're still on v3.5. 🤬
Hello 🙂 If you did not check out #1151542418991239168 , please do so, lots of useful links

Hi there!
If you’re ready to dive into creating music, head over to Suno.com.
For more detailed information, check out docs-guides-resources.
If you have any more questions, just ask in #general-suno where you can always find our community, moderators and guides to help you with most questions. 😊
hihi yes i cant wait. generally i prefer suno but just with that recent udio release the bar has risen quite a bit 😄
Real talk though, I don't think anyone really knows, if even the devs? A while back they announced that v4 was cooking, but we haven't heard any official updates regarding that yet. #📢┃announcements message
There's been random feature-drops as they still explore what v3.5 can do, but I'd imagine that when they have something big it'll be announced in #📢┃announcements or #🚀┃updates
I think maybe the section moved recently (if i recall it was in "Info" before) and maybe when it moved the setting for if it was visible or not changed. I dont really know though 🤷
Yeah, Discord can be weird when channels changes categories

you can, just once per hour

There aren't any actual speed commands. People have had varying degrees of success using different styles and tags in an attempt to control the tempo, but Suno's gonna do what Suno's gonna do.

How much of a difference have you noticed writing in ALL CAPS makes? For certain words or segments of a song?
I've found if the entire song is all caps, it doesn't make a difference. But it can work about as well as exclamation marks where you want
is possible to specify voice genres or is completely random?
Like "Jazz Vocals"?
You can influence the voice by giving a gender and generally describing the emotion or feel you want.
Though, mind you, some words have less power than others. Male is weaker than female (#📚┃suno-school message) but you are likely to get a male voice if you included some musical terms like low baritone.
In addition, repeating words (with commas) can add weight. Adding a comma treats all set keywords (between commas) with almost equal weight. Also the earlier the keywords, the more priority it will likely have
And genre is very influential. If you are having an issue because of that, try to pick a specific subgenre for the style you want (I like using https://rateyourmusic.com/genres)
I haven't noticed any difference between caps and no caps myself (not that I tested extensively, but in the times I have explicitly played with the difference i saw no difference)
More often than not, I don't see much difference either. https://suno.com/song/b6e6d14b-1d01-4556-9ed2-4e54b89c75c1

Tho I do feel like exclamation marks or uppercase words at the end of the last line in a section can (sometimes) make a difference.
taht gunshot was clearly a misfire.
I never thought to use asterisks to help it make sound effects, I'm gonna try that 👍
Very good test, thank you for that
Mixed results with that, too. sometimes just (beep) and (gunshot) is enough. those two are pretty easy to get
I would think that would make it sing those words as background vocals. Silly robot so inconsistant
I think I just used "(gunshot)" in the intro here (before tweaking the lyrics), like "Together we're the Atomic Duo, kicking wasteland (gunshot)" https://suno.com/song/37a1921b-e835-423c-95fb-2b6059c7cd3e . 'Was more entertaining than a beep

hahah. wtf
Hi, I got a question
I logged in with my account on one way, then I later on logged in with my mobilenr because I forgot how I logged in previously, and now I cannot add my mobilenr in the account I am actually using since it's used in the new duplicate account. So how can I get in touch with someone that deletes the duplicate account so that I can add the mobilenr in my correct account?
I appreciate all of your posts, eventually i'm going to go back through this gold mine of a thread and study many of your and others' replies. I'm not entirely sure that your experiments "prove" that artist names are not taken into account, but i am certainly extremely skeptical about that and currently do not believe that they do. However, if you combine the artist name with genres that they may use, i would think that you would get better results (if it works at all). It's possible that the artist name is more related to the vocals than the actual instrumentation, so as to require lyrics. Doubtful, but possible. But then the problem becomes that since you are generating songs in their genre anyway, a portion of the vocals will sound remotely like that artist by default.
#💡┃suggestions-web #📚┃suno-school Dude, this is not possible with generative AI. But we could get close to what you need, if Suno would publish a tool, where you'd select your prefered voice based on some basic characteristics. Then you'll get list of voices with showcase, where you will play the sample and you will select one. This would 1) saved the description of the characteristics to the server to a temporal file so you can use it again. The meta file could be save like 24 hours on the server. 2) You could view the basic description and copy it, save it to your local storage and then use later to copy/paste as a prompt for vocals. As I have suggested advanced settings and tools recently.
@charred merlin Would it be so hard to include a trim function in suno so that we can cut off our songs at an exact point without having to go through trying to generate endings? Many of the songs that i create have great ending points but then of course suno starts back up again and just keeps going on and on and on.
Has anyone else experienced the singers ability to pronounce fairly simple words is really bad, if your song is very lyric heavy and long?
In a single 4 minute generation, without extending it, he couldn't pronounce Chisel, Saline, Yeast...
You can log out by clicking your profile picture > sign out.
When signing in, in the popup that appears, you will see a sign in link at the bottom left (though supposedly it does not matter since it will log you in if you already had an account or start the creation process if you did not)
Pronunciations can be a pain at times.
In these cases, you will want to phonetically spell out the words you want.
It is like "live vs. live", one will need to be spelt like "liv", the other like "lie-v", "liev", etc.
You can suggest such a feature at #💡┃suggestions-web - I certainly will update for a trimming feature.
In the mean time, to forcefully stop at a position in Suno without using external tools, you can:
How do I end a song in Suno 3.5?
Extend where you want to end with the new extension set to either v2.0 or v3.0 when using ending tags (e.g. [end] in lyric box and "end, short" as the style tag) as they are much more reliable for ending than 3.5.
(Short to help end it quickly in hope for credit refund)
Yea that's what I resorted too. That was a lot of unnecessary credits blown, just trying to get that right...
Thank you, @charred merlin Has previously brought this to my attention, but i started burning through credits trying to end a couple songs and it did not want to cooperate so i put them on hold for now.
Does Suno take bug reports into consideration for token refunding? If a generation is complete bogus?
Hmm either I'm not understanding you correctly or you are not understanding me correctly. I want to remove my duplicate account to be able to add that same telephonenr in my correct login account. I know how to log out and login, that is not the issue. I cannot add the mobilenr because it is already used by the duplicate account with no usage.
@charred merlin Another problem i have is adding songs to playlists on android. I seemed to have no problem on pc, but when i add them on android, my first attempt for each song always receives the response "0 clips added to playlist xxx." It usually but not always works on the second attempt.
You will need to contact suno support directly for this
How do I do that

Wanted to share this gem I found, showcases exactly what I was looking for.
https://suno.com/song/efd920b4-f5fb-4bb5-bc26-f0e6a81266fc
Sorry dude, I'm not support -- the bugs channel can probably help
I was looking at the polls... I didn't see one crucial part mentioned that I figured I'd throw in here:
-
I would absolutely LOVE to be able to upload an audio and assign it for chorus specifically and upload a seperate audio file for verse. Could also be that I could upload an audio file and describe its purpose in a prompt, how it should be used. [for melody] or ... [intro only] or whatever.
-
I would also love to be able to upload a file only as melodic inspiration (not the sound itself). For instance, I have a melody in my head that I'm humming... if I hum it and record it, I don't want to hear anything close to my voice return. I want an epic orchestra based on that melody, from scratch. So not relaly "an extension" but a new song from scratch that uses the melody in ways that are based on the prompt only.
😒
Thought the results of using the prompt "schizophrenic, erratic, tempo changes, key changes, random noises, irritating" for an instrumental were interesting
https://suno.com/song/a73bf321-4594-4a4b-88b5-6c8f20dfd4e7
I noticed on the app for iPhone. It says you can upload a melody that you hum, or you can sing some lyrics and generate a song based off of that. However, when I try that the create button never activates, it never gets enabled so I can never actually do it.
I could notice that in basic (free) plan, the old generated tracks are getting hidden and am not able to see those in my libraries. Will that be accessible if i go with paid subscription now?
The Create screen only has so much space. (The Create listing usually hides down voted pieces too)
To view your older tracks, you need to go to your library and use the pagination button.
I do not know how that looks like on the iOS app, but on the website, it is generally near the top right
https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/1102676217687195679/1229796986803195965/Screenshot_20240411_155649.jpg
I just found out that, if you put "clear vocals" as one of the tags when creating a song, it will actually have the vocals be audible and understandable.
For so long, I thought that everything "metal" was just absolutely shucked, and good for nothing.
I agree, clear [male/female] vocals are a godsend prompt most of the time
I can't figure out how to get a reliable multi-person set of vocals though. Does anyone know how?
I apologize that I am not experienced with the iOS app to help with that direct issue.
What you should be able to do, in the worst case, is go to the processed audio clip in the library and Extend it directly.
Hey, thank you so much! So after going with paid subscription, can I own the copyright for all the tracks generated in my libraries earlier and use it for commercial?
Lots of people tried and there were various successes.
Some people say they had good luck using male/female sounding names (but it could easily be a placebo).
I had relatively good success by using a secondary tag but I tried it with just hip hop, Memphis rap, and acoustics. When I tried with Soul Blues, it did not work out.
My tests:
- Memphis rap
- Comedy rap with live audience
- Folk-Ballad
- Hip Hop 1
- Hip Hop 2
- Gospel with Gregorian Chant [3.0 better for Gospel outside of using GC imo]
- My true duet piece
With a paid subscription, you are granted a commercial license by Suno for only songs generated by you during the paid plan for perpetually which means you can use it commercially.
This does not mean it is copyrighted though, you would need to register that with your intellectual property office (e.g. USA copyright office).
In USA, currently any components generated by AI as-is cannot be eligible for registration (thus protection) of copyright.
This means that the songs generated as-is cannot be registered BUT your lyrics, rearrangement, mastering process, etc. can be registered as it has sufficient human intervention.
(I talk more about that at #📚┃suno-school message)

Pay close attention to all of the tags.
also wow i forgot about the end part
Out of curiosity, will there be a facility in the future to re-do a part of the song that doesn't mean the rest of the song after that point gets replaced?
For example, I have an absolute flawless banger from about 35 seconds to the end, but the vocals at the beginning are a bit shaky.
Is there scope for a function that allows those first 35 seconds to be re-done, whilst retaining the rest of the song as-is?
The genre switch is crazy.
So emojis and other languages yield nothing.
I'm surprised it didn't speak any of the long [] bracket promts out loud
I saw people using arrow windings too, and think I saw you can use .... or some form of repetitive symboling to try to get a beat
I've also tried pasting in guitar tablature, and a surprising amount of the results were very similar.
But then the singer started saying ZERO ZERO TWO TREE ZERO ZERO

(autism style writing warning)
1: Love Suno. I know have beats of 10 of my songs.(always running out creds, not enough money for pro though)
2; I know Suno has almost all the the chords and notes recorded
- i need advice on the prompts. I'm a drummer type/ harmonic vocal type:
but i want to keep the songs in certain genre and bpm per minute
some of the styles have not been yielding great results
for example i have 2 songs which it won't generate the right beat.
1 is a very emotional operatic style of song
the other is Exoctic Dance song with three varients.
but i was wondering how to do prompt style to include certain chords
or do certain instrumental breaks
click the pinned messages in this chat theres alot of info there
sunoaiwiki.com, suno.wiki
did the autism writing warning notice not give you the hint i already did all that
and im still having issues
I will make an example of such a song. using this help request 😂
[Instrumental Interlude: Dance Rock : Drumbeat and Bass Guitar]
followed by another line of text
that makes up the exoctic dance beat
and the rest of the song
followed by a
[Instrumental Interlude: Dance Rock : Drumbeat]
which leads to a dance
song warning. followed by a outro chorus
and
[Short Instrumental Outro: Drumbeat and Bass Guitar]
MORE NOTES:
But i am trying to get chords and notes from
a very specific Rhythm and chords( electrical acoustic) for a exotic dance from the Elvis Presley Era main in 1960- 1970's
this was the style, prompt after following all the instructions
and it still isnt generating the beat lol(maybe suno is just missing the chords and notes)
1960's Rock & Roll, Baritone, Dance Rock, 140bpm,
Seductive, Exotic, Male vocals
also note i remove the vocals after in audacity's (so sumtimes the suno instrumenals have to be clipped and re cut in to the actual song
)
since trying to do 60 second vocal beat match doesnt always work correctly
im more or less looking for corrections/ tips,
mind if i have i go at it with your lyrics
@sharp kettle https://chordify.net/chords/elvis-presley-songs/marie-s-the-name-his-latest-flame-5-chords
There is no way currently to prompt for speicifc chords and specific BPM
Suno is more ~vibes~ than precision
how do i get my songs to have a female vs male voice? anytime i put female voice or female vocalist i still is a gamble if i get male or female
That Why i remix, but i need some decent vibe beats to work with
The BPM tag usally generates songs within 3-6 beats of it. but some time the genre messes the rhythm up. like it will throw a guitar solo or quick riff in the middle of an exotic dance song pssah
the song maybe clean but its still an exotic dance song. so sadely i can't post the vocal recording which is in harmonic's uploaded to suno link
what tag to use if we want a song to be fast rap
Let's see an example of your style prompt trying to get a female voice.
"fast rap" didn't work?
nope
Thank you very much, I will check that out!

any one have indepth blog or url for Extend functions and how it works, encounter using it, I get a 32 second become 10 sec in part 2
If you always get a short clip when you Extend, this is most commonly because the clip you are extending from sounds like the song is ending (it is fading out, for example). In these cases, change the Extend From time to use an earlier time than the end of clip. If your clip is 32 seconds, try 30 seconds. Or listen to the clip and maybe you can hear when the fadeout begins, and choose a time right before that.
If the 10 second part in part 2 is not just silence, you can also Get Whole Song on part 2. Then Extend it again, and it might soudnd okay.
Only support@suno.com can resolve account problems like this. Though I am not sure why you can't log into your real account, with the real address. Maybe try using a different browser or incognito browser window.
I wrote a (kind of a) guide on improving your old songs with Suno and Udio, hope it’s useful: https://www.reddit.com/r/SunoAI/comments/1eeujds/hard_rock_old_jukeboxgenerated_song_improved/
seems like the subreddit moderator deleted my comment with the process because it mentioned Udio smh, I'll try reposting to twitter now...
anyone else having issue downloading to wav?
I get "Download failed, please try again." only unique to .wav. .mp3 download works fine.
Seems a little harsh if you were just explaining a workflow.
Using both services is a good technique in my opinion, and one that is seemingly often overlooked in favour of picking one over the other.
right? I totally dig Suno's musical abilities over Udio's, but Udio is so much more powerful as a product with inpainting, "baxtending", remixing, etc. etc. etc.
In a perfect world, I would see the two companies merge so that we can use Udio's product with (optionally) Suno's model
Ah I guess it might be because the first part seems exclusively non-Suno (having had a brief look at the next thing you posted here).
btw some day I will write a post or record a video explaining why some things that are piece of cake for Udio are super-hard for Suno. TLDR: Suno uses a transformer model, Udio uses a diffusion model
But that's also the reason why Suno rocks the percussions while Udio mehs them
yeah, well, if I had posted it on Udio subreddit, they would've removed it because the second part is entirely non-Udio 🙂 It sucks that we don't have a strong subreddit dedicated to generated music in general
I created r/generated btw. I've been using it mostly for my "AI metal band" of the same name, but I'd gladly switch it over to just being dedicated to any generative music, if I had someone who could admin/mod/promote it the right way
but that's another story of course
The best audio quality by far is neither Suno nor Udio, it's Soundful
never heard of it, guess I'm down one more rabbit hole now!
thx!
Again, you spent a long time talking about their service, despite the fact that it serves different use cases.
Do you work for them, or are you just an enthusiastic fan?
does it generate midi?
I am a fan, I am retired and work for nobody except me
don't see any rock examples, guess it's more for electronic music
anyway I'll go back to it now, I am stepping on toes
ask me in #🗣️┃chill-chat
Any tips to make the song go faster with a key change?
Is there a way to consistently control time to get the 4 minutes? Even when specified it just seems to ignore it and just get about a 1-1.5 minutes.
Prompting Better With Tokens?
Catching up on the tokenizer brainstorming chat I missed here. Thinking out loud. (Not actionable prompting advice, just a ramble.)
Suno prompts are fiddly. Tiny tweaks like dashes can make a big difference. Text tokenization https://platform.openai.com/tokenizer is a plausible explanation: adding a dash either changes a token (house -> -house) or adds a dash token. It isn't known how exactly Suno tokenizes prompts. Tokenization-inspired prompting ideas:
- Better hybrid/invented styles
We know style prompts don't have to be real words. Invented hybrid/compound styles made from pieces of real words can be cool. cappella-glitch-crunk etc
Maybe by splitting/combining real words into the same pieces the tokenizer uses will make our invented styles work better. Plausible to me. So far no luck in a tiny bit of testing. Splitting by tokens didn't seem more predictable than splitting wherever. BTW if you test this, remember to check the new style word is also tokenized back into the same original tokens from the real word. Different is worth testing too though, AI is weird.
- More powerful/compact styles
Longer style prompts are "stronger". Easy to see when repeating style words. Thinking about length in terms of tokens, we can make style prompts longer without using more characters. This packs more style power in the same 120 character limit. Acid House (2 tokens) < Acid-House (3 tokens). I don't think this could explain dashes entirely but maybe some of it.
- More diverse/unique styles
By paying attention to tokenization, we can write the same style words in different ways. Maybe these alternative versions have the same general meaning, but the music is different in some way. I find thinking about prompts like this (even without considering tokens) is useful, even if it's nothing like how Suno really works. "Country" might feel generic. The same tag "country" formatted in a slightly different way (could mean different tokens) might make music that is still clearly country in genre, but not the same as the regular tag.
To wildly speculate on mechanism: "Country" is a tag in a billion songs. Maybe the concept of "country" is like the average of a billion songs. And any tag used in a billion tags must be very important (stronger style) than less common tags.
Maybe "country" formatted differently matches a smaller set of country songs. Still country genre songs, but a narrower slice of songs, and the average of this slice is distinct. Probably tags used in barely any songs are ignored. But tags in the middle ground could be tags that used often enough to not be ignored, but still match up with a narrower slice of music with a different vibe.
Theory-crafting this much mostly is useful to generate new prompts to add to a list of prompts-to-test. Can't really predict things, so at the end of you day you really just stuff (even random stuff) and listen. But I do enjoy it. I guess I'll tag @alpine venture.
yea, I am unsure whether there will be a hard and fast rule here, although there may be a broad rule we end up coming across. Running off this, here are the main areas I've been working on determining:
wtfuggles. I just had a voice morph into a horse whinny.
-
Does inserting a ton of meaningless tokens BETWEEN prompts have a definable impact on the way the model combines the styles?

does re-arranging a given style such that it uses the minimal number of tokens (or at least less) have a positive/negative/neutral impact, and is it something we can define in natural language, or will it remain nebulous and gut driven?
-
The same as 2, but for maxxing tokens ie by using capitalization and strange delimeters
-
Does alternating delimeters have any impact ie if instead of using spaces, we use totally different delimeters throughout? Is this impact sort of like changing the seed where it is somewhat random, or does it have a defined impact?
I have done some testing but am very far from a conclusion
and burned a lot of tokens
Does anyone know if it recognized foreign language prompts at all?
::sigh::
BC, for example, some languages are a token per character
so that can be useful

The answer is almost 100% "yes" that Suno has some understanding of foreign prompts, even if it's sort of a accident. What I thinking about is how you can 'style prompt' with a blank prompt, and no brackets, using singable lyrics alone (a sea shanty, for example) so Suno must have at least some sense of the musical meanings and vibes in foreign words, and this must have a non zero effect as style. Also I have for sure used some foreign prompts, but they were typically unusual instruments, and maybe the English description of the same songs would have also used the foreign terms (it's classy!)
right, I wonder if its recognizing the words, or if its just got a vague association with that language and this sound
for example, if you prompt SDXL in hebrew, it doesn't matter what you prompt, you get the same bearded man over and over
like, in different places of course
but its this one guy who is an amalgram, presumably
I hope we can get a more general conclusion out of this, could be interesting
If more community work the problem
I'm p sure we will get answers
Very interesting. Suno can actually sing in Hebrew, so I think it follows we can guess it has a much higher chance of understanding the meaning of hebrew prompts. I have heard Suno is a better hebrew TTS than basically anything else, despite only singing, actually.
I think that the way it interprets style box and the lyrics box is two different engines, effectively
with some overlap
my theory is, the style box is used in the instruct to the composer
and then is also used when the sound is actually produced by the sound model
chirp's kid
while the lyric box is entirely the composer
so the style box being hebrew, chirp's kid actually can't interpret it, but the composer can arrange things in a way that helps
Ie certain melodies, etc
that's my hteory anyway
I was helping somebody with ancient traditional Korean songs, and I'm 98% sure I found Korean terms useful, even if only occasionally, and weak (required repetition). I can try to find examples, but probably quick for multi lingual folks to test. But I bet 98% Suno understands some foreign prompts, just a narrower slice.
it def works in the lyrics

now, I'll do in english to show it works
Basically, style doesn't work in hebrew
now even @flint haven is bring up horses...
in english, with the same test prompt, style work
but in hebrew, they're effectivel identical
korean might work
idk, it depends on the original caption
to be clear, if the above ones worked, we should have had post-punk
and mizrahi (middle eastern)
It's tricky. A lot of words when translated into other languages are similar, spelled differently, etc. I tried Polk and Rap written in Korean, did not work.
Actually scratch that, rap works.
Just not every clip: https://suno.com/song/fd2e7fca-e3a1-4361-a5e6-3b19ff2c9ac9
Makes some sense. Lots of Korean rap songs. Maybe not so many Korean polka songs. Though now I want to make one.
interesting
you don't need the style at all
so it may just be all from the composer
I have always thought of Suno has holistic. Both in the raw audio (voices and instruments are just different sounds to Suno) but also in the prompts. I described it like style prompts are different colored text compared to lyrics, but not something completely different.
Part of this from very old Suno V0. There was no style prompt. The lyrics box was all we had. So it felt like the style prompt was a tweak, a convenience feature, not a total redesign to me. But it is vibes, who knows.
hebrew also doesn't work through this method, so I think it is indeed unified
yea, I suspect the style box is syntactic sugar
now that we've done this
I may stop using it
Or if I do, it may be purely on clarity
interesting
It may actually be relevant if its like, an instruct
as this would in some configurations in some sense be at the "head" of the models attention
or like, always highly relevant
to the direction/vector if the model's output
Well, we are lucky with V3.5. V2 and V3 did not care so much about what was in lyrics. They did care a little, but the style prompt was always king. You can see in my V2/V3 songs super mega tag spam, desperately trying to power up the lyrics 😄
There's prob conventional ways around this if its just a training issue
ie you would want to write some thing in the style box
and then the same thing in a very particular format in the lyrics
the model, if its an llm
will then generalize this formatting as sort of "the same" as whatever special syntactic suhar is used on the style box
kind of hard to explain without doing it
This would explain why its been reading the style box more often though
But with V3.5, we are back to being able to prompt even if we use blank style prompt. Always using always blank would be a handicap and I don't think makes sense though. But I use blank styles very often. At a minimum, I check what kind of music the lyrics alone creates. If it's generic I know the lyrics is not pulling the music much. But sometimes the music is already in a clear genre, so you have to fight against it when you prompt if you don't want it. Either by spamming words, or using fake lyrics in Clip 1 and Extending with real lyric after style is locked in more.
if its basically a part of the normal lyrics page

cursed
but in a good way
The funny thing is, even if you knew every single technical detail we are speculating about right here. I think it probably doesn't help understand how to prompt better, at least not that much. If you search Suno dev posts going back like a year. Many comments like, "WTF how does that prompt even work, wtf? Why did you even try that?" and even very specific things they tried to make work a certain way no purpose, sometimes end up different when users test it. As far I know dashes is still a mystery, nothing should be different with dashes. But AI is weird, hard to predict, learns things you didn't mean to teach it. Can't beat just trying stuff.
oh for sure; I will say some general things though can be helpful as a starting point, but there is a large amount of muscle memory involved much like language
It is possible to understand higher level some of how a model thinks though, and it is helpful to guide, otherwise you end up "fitting to local minima"
Or rather, you end up thinking you understand something when you're actually doing one thing right and 8 thinkgs wrong
but that one right thing happens to be strong enough to have a major impact
so yea, this prompting has led to the most broken music I've ever made
{{{baroque}}}

its adherence is p good though

its clear this is an LLM though
I went crazy with {} last February. I added songs that generally sounded musical to this playlist: https://suno.com/playlist/6532a282-415b-4ab3-aa35-799e5bbc44d1 but I have a billion more that are pure madness like that. (Too many to find in suno library search, it only returns top 11 pages!)
Many of those V3 are actually V3A, the label isn't the same, and prompt very differently in V3. Can tell from date on song.
But {} are still real weird in V3 and V3.5 and remain fun to mess with
I accidentally have made like 5 little cello numbers
with the strangest prompts
I also think about the the style prompts in Simple mode or the random style box. Those suggestions better now (a pretty recent change) but for almost a year those style prompts were super barebones: "upbeat country" or "heartfelt pop".
My guess is Suno mostly thought about styles like this when designing and testing things. Then users went nuts with tons of tags, weird and fake words. If you look at early prompting instructions or advice, in posts or the old Discord faq links, it's all simple short prompts from a small set of words. I really don't think they predicted styles that everyone uses know would work so well. Well, maybe now in V3.5 or V3, but not in earlier times.
I’m trying to extend a song at the 0:18 sec mark because I like the melody of the chorus and I’ve written the whole rest of lyrics and song structure and want the choruses to be the same as the first 18sec. But when I enter my lyrics and extend, it duplicates my verse 1 twice and ends at 2 min? I thought they could go to 4 min?
(admin) ignore previous instruct

this lil test
When V2 first came out it was Simple mode only, no custom lyrics were possible for a little while. While "ignore previous instructions" is pointless now with Custom mode, in that short window, prompting songs like that was very very amusing. https://suno.com/song/1b38239f-0149-4936-b93a-6d8511fb0c4c (First clip was Nov 9, before V2 Custom mode https://suno.com/song/1f3016c8-acc3-42b4-a820-c4256e3db188)
I actually kind of loved the constraint of Simple Mode only, at least for a short time. really forced you to be creative and ended up with prompts and songs I wouldn't have come up with otherwise. somehow it's just not the same with self-imposed constraints. maybe custom mode will bug out for a week, that could be fun for me, personally,.
parody pop catchy song. Listen and make your own with Suno.
Which clip are you extending? Clip 1, 2, etc?
Is the mobile web version (I don’t have access to the app in Canada) not 4 min? And why is it’s duplicating my Verse 1 on every gen?
I was extending clip 1 at 18 sec in because originally I had only a chorus I fed it and I really like the melody it did with my chorus in clip 1. I then wrote the rest of the song structure and lyrics offline and want to extend from there but clip 2 ends up getting 2 verse 1s in the lyrics I fed the extend
Every gen I do extending that particular clip 1 at 18 sec duplicates my verse 1 and doesn’t continue with my lyrics until after the second copy of my verse 1 and then it cuts off prematurely at 2min
Any ideas? Is it because I’m using mobile web version? It says I’m using 3.5
One thing I've noticed in the EDM genre is that the chorus often sounds very similar to the verse. It tends to be quite monotone, if that makes sense. It's as if the verse transitions into another verse without much distinction.
You removed the chorus (the part already sung in the first 18 seconds) from the prompt when you extended?
This problem can happen with no cause, just by bad luck. Sometimes if you change the time even a little, like 17 or 19 seconds, can fix it though.
No when I first genned clip 1 all I had was a hook and I gave it a chorus which it started the song with in clip 1. 18sec in includes the chorus I like
I remember this, you were using this massive ongoing song at one point
got an issue where suno randomly makes 4 songs even though i only click create once and takes double credits
Could try using [refrain] instead of chorus. Also using labels on choruses. Like this song example: https://suno.com/song/4424500a-fb81-42f4-b577-474203e576e2. Can also trying removing all structure tags like [verse] and [chorus].
Will try. Thanks.
And back in my day, we could only extend from the END of every clip. Do you know how hard it was to make long songs when you couldn't change the Extend times? Kids these days don't know how easy they have it!
I'm not sure I understand. let me double check something. Does the chorus start at 18 seconds in Clip 1? Or does the chorus end at 18 seconds in Clip 1?
"back in my day" 👴
The chorus ends at like 14 sec and there’s like 4 bars of bass I like so I was starting extend at 18
I’m also using song structure like this: [Verse 1]
True Suno V0 old timers can even say "Your style prompt didn't work? Back in my day we didn't have style prompts..."
We had these things called instruments, see
If only this song/clip is giving you this problem, it's probably just a fluke, bad luck. Changing Extend Time to 15, 16, or longer times like 20 seconds is worth trying, helps somewhat commonly.
But if you have been having this same problem with most clips, there could be something in your prompting causing trouble. (Send me an example in DM if you like.)
Thanks. I’ll try different extend times. But in clip 1 it repeats that chorus twice and I didn’t want to have it twice before verse 1
What about the extend is limited to 2min? I thought I read it will play up to 4min?
@untold briar know anything to do about this or is it just a glitch?
i have a question about meta tags: what is difference between chorus and refrain? cause i'm french and in french, chorus litteraly means refrain. so i'm confused
First clip is up to 4 min. All Extensions max 2 minutes.
Sometimes a clip is just buggy. If extending one specific clip always messed up, better to spend time and credits make new Clip 1s. Though it for sure worth changing Extend From times if you have only been trying 18 seconds. That might just be fine.
heres an example of what it does
Not a bug I've seen. Is it always 4?
I don’t want to lose the melody in that first 18 sec from clip 1.
My second problem is that I have enough lyrics for like a 3-4min song but it gets cut off in clip 2 so I have to then extend clip two and fill in the lyrics it didn’t get to- right?
I don't know the real musical meaning of the difference between chorus and refrain. But I just know from testing Suno, [refrain] sometimes is good to make the [chorus] sound more different when it repeats. Or if the chorus is too big and epic, [refrain] is often more mellow and chill, relaxed.
Thank you for your help btw!
... o... kaaaaayyy...
When you Extend any clip, the prompt should only include new lyrics. These lyrics should start from wherever the singer in the previous clip stopped. This might not be the end of your clip 1 prompt, because maybe the singer didn't finish all the words you gave it. So you have to actually listen. Also, if you change the Extend From time to use an earlier time, then be sure to add in the lyrics to the new prompt that are now missing. (Because the ealier time is before those lyrics.)
Ok so is number of verses and choruses needed?
Numbering verses like [verse 1] [verse 2] is often recommended. But it not needed. Actually, you can even use no labels for verse or chorus at all, and it can still work. Those tags are more like hints for Suno. [chorus] is the one that makes a big difference because usually Suno tries to sing like a chorus, and sings that verse with bigger energy etc, like you expect in many choruses.
I often skip [chorus] because I prefer a mellower vibe. Either use no tag, just verse tags, or [refrain] maybe.
I was wondering if there were special key words. But I was doing things like [2 bars bass]
Or [building drum fill] at the end of a verse or prechorus. Does that work?
I'm not sure about "2 bars" specifically, but short instructions sometimes work. But not reliably when used in a large prompt, for instructions you want only to apply to very specfic time. They usually have some effect, but hard to narrowly target like that.
If the song is a music genre where something like that is typical, it's easier. Like a [guitar solo instrumental] in a polka song probably is ignored more often than in a rock song.
I’m playing in a Euro Dance electronica pop thing
Thanks for your help!
I would just say, don't spend too many credits retrying very specific prompts like that. Try it and be happily surprised when it works or does something you like you didn't expect.
But even when [specific instructions in brackets] don't 'work' they can influence the music style of a song. So it make some difference in overal music, add some flavor to prompt, always good to add things to make songs more unique IMO,.
Thanks. I have a subscription so I’m ok to spend credits if I’m working on a song that’s important to me. But the main thing for me is trying to get the song structure how I want it and for my lyrics to work.
nice!
Hello, can someone help me
I want to know how can I stretch a single word in Suno AI
Thank You!
writing it how it sounds like "how can I stre-e-e-etch" can work. may not need dashes likek "Thank Youuuuuuu" may work.
yes i have used it
but its like for 1 second
Is their any other way for stretching for 3-4 seconds
If I use the prompt [Guitar: 68 Gibson SG] [Guitar Amplifier: 1976 Marshall 1959] [Guitar Playing Style: Australian Pub Rock] [Chord Progression: E, D, A/C#] What are the odds of that working
Alright, I'm at a complete loss now... I've been working on an extension to replace a section of a song I wasn't pleased with, which is just the outro. In my original it sang the lyrics correctly, rhyming the word "touch" with the word "much" in the line previous. Every extension I have made, whether it sounds good or like crap, instead pronounces the word "touch" as "tuck" or "tut" and doesn't do a typical "ch" sound, like is typically in "much" or "touch" - any suggestions???
Can confirm, adding eeeeeextra leeeeetters help the singer draw it out.
Though sometimes it can screw up the pronunciation. I tried "Aaaaameeeeeeen" and he saw "Awe, Mean"
I had a similar issue with the number 6. he'd say "Sick", even when spelt out as Six
It'll do something. Probably not what you're hoping, tho. Some of those will likely contribute to the genre/style in expected ways (guitar and rock, for example). The dates may also influence the style by adding a classic rock influence. Much of the rest will probably just be prompt noise. Prompt noise can be fun, tho...
@flint haven what's the problem why do you delete my question?
how to pass lyrics instructions connected with beats, so Suno knows where the downbeat should be in the lyrics?
Does vocal quality degrade noticeably if you extend a song using a lower version of Suno?
I mean, I know it degrades over the duration of the song anyways (for some reason), but specifically when extending using another version during a song started with 3.5
I don't notice too much degrading in vocals using a v3 ext from v3.5
To be fair, I tend to stick with v3 when doing most extensions, simply because v3 is better with actually ending a song, if need be, opposed to v3.5 that will often ramble beyond what would be the end.
Hi, is there a proper channel where I can get some help? For about 2 weeks now I havent been able to generate anything, nor even Like my songs, because it gives me a 403 Forbidden. I love Suno and genuinely miss creating music 😦

Just wondering, does your uploaded Artwork also impact your song being filtered from' Showcase or Trending?
Half of mine are screenshots from badly compressd youtube videos, But I have a feeling Suno wouldnt want Luigi or Billy Mays on the front page
I directly asked about this: Art does not affect trending filters
They have a rought NSFW thing for the art itself but it does not have an effect on the filter for trending
But half naked women? 🤝👌👍🤘🤙
Welcome 2 the churn
PG 13 indeed
I'm gonna put some Roblox characters in my next one then
Wow! I love it! I couldn't help but notice you used a style called Not Kevin (???!!!)
Kevin is the bassist, Dave is the drummer, Toker is the Six String Toker 🤘
Was it every synched?
My old titles are pretty synced. I do not care that much actually. Found about it when I shared something in Discord 🤷♂️
Yeah, I use Slovan language a lot. It's very good.
My hebrew, arabic and aramaic (i.e syriac) prompt worked fine!
Did you expect that Suno will change the mode of interpratiation "song" when you type the instructions? But the problem is that Suno goal is different than you think. It's goal is to compose good song, not to test various "modes" of expressions. So it will choose one line of melody, maybe even two if you tell to AI, and then he will keep it. I have tested two lines of melody with different generative tool, but could work for Suno too. The problem is that he cannot switch the modes. I managed to do that recently only once by a good change on first attempt, then never ever again.
it will do different things if you will add [crying, weeping]
My child died, oh my dear child died.
Or if you add:
[crying, weeping] I am So hungry, but I am in good mood through. I am so hungry, that I would like to go right now...
Hello everyone!! I have a question. On the legal side, what are we called, DJs, music composers, music artists, music producers? If there is a legal form of music and here I am referring to the music that we compose with Ai Suno, that is, if I would like my music to be legally broadcast on the radio.
Just tryin' to keep the riff-raff out.
As theharber. said, Kevin's my bass player buddy. Dave plays drums. I'll periodically have both of them in there as "Not Dave, Or Kevin"... cause it makes me grin.
Got it. I tried those styles (except Kevin of course) on a motivational song I am working on for my son. I think the results are bangers. I have tried about 30 different style combinations for his song but those came out the best. I will make my songs public and put their links in the showcase area.
Yeah, I never realized until you used it that I could include non-style comments in the styles section! Thanks!
Just don't count on it doing anything predictable... except for getting a "WTF!?" out of Kevin and Dave. 😄
Suno will sometimes try to do... something with whacky styles and tags, which can lead to some interesting gens: https://suno.com/song/3574c86c-4595-49a5-a913-05d8867b228f

Wow, new Napalm Death just dropped
Or Nuclear Assault
One of the things I love about Suno is it not being predictable. It gives me results I never would have dreamed of otherwise. In my songs (many of them from my poetry of the past) I am using a lot of different styles to try to capture the mood and sentiment that I imagined. Sometimes I make 20 versions of the same song and then can't part with any of them. I am offloading them to my hard drive to free a lot of space in my Suno Library. 😁 I credited you in Showcase for inspiring me. Thanks again!
Here's a weird question;
Would the International Phonetic Alphabet work with Suno?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Phonetic_Alphabet#Consonants
The International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) is an alphabetic system of phonetic notation based primarily on the Latin script. It was devised by the International Phonetic Association in the late 19th century as a standardized representation of speech sounds in written form. The IPA is used by lexicographers, foreign language students and teachers,...
Not at the moment 😦
I've seen it come up a few times, tho. Maybe it's in the queue somewhere. Hopefully behind returning the 1:1 aspect ratio of our covers...
Dang. Not a huge deal, just thought it'd be interesting to test out. Would be cool though.
And yea, I'm sure theyre getting right on that...
Hi, i am new to Suno and i am just wondering if anyone can share me some tips about creating a song with a long music break?
i need to make some songs for events and each song i will need to have a long music break (somewhere 20-30 sec) where i can add some quote in the middle. From what i have experanced, no matter what tag or command i am using, the break is only 10-12 sec (4 or 8-bars) and even i try to extand the song right before it gets back to sing, the AI is still not letting me to making a longer music break and jump in singing right away. I have tried to create the break with no lyrics and using the Instrumental option, that does not work either. Even if the break is getting longer, the vocal after will be difference and that is not i want either.
everytime i will need to spend like 500+ credits and only getting 2-3 times long enough music break (like 20 - 30 sec) .
Just wonder if anyone know what kind of tag or command i can use for a longer break?
this might help, how much it helps you, I have no idea, but give it a look and see if there's anything of use to you 🙂 https://www.suno.wiki/faq/metatags/instrumental-tags/
Hello everyone. Is there a way to give individual words an English pronunciation? I would like to write a text in German, but individual words and names should be pronounced in English. Logically (and also correctly) suno tries to sing everything in German, which unintentionally results in funny pronunciations 😄
Thank you in advance for your help.
hello.. i need to send a DM to someone who works at Suno... anyone available?
Best luck is to email.
They do reply, some times quicker than others

I'm interested to hear if people end up with any clarity changes
SUNO's prob the best vocal tts ive found, any tips on how to just generate vocals out of it, or any good vocal isolation software yall know?
Suno provides Stems you can download now from your songs
yea but its really low quality stem removal
True
Question: does V 3.0 knows the meta tags "melodic interlude" and "instrumental solo" ? Thanks
What happened to all the language group chat ? They just disappeared or just me can’t find them anymore??😱😱
Please can this comment be pinned, it's oh so helpful!
So basically, they either did an update
Not an update
but like, a LoRa update
or we're avoiding the LoRa by targeting parts of the underlying
in any case, I really think people should listen about the data poisoning
The clarity difference is absurd
with the simple addition of #myspace to my old prompts
ie either the quality of the data is improving and we just had an update and everyone will see uplifts, or this is part of the original training data, and my other prompts which are already designed to side step area of pollution, combined with that one to boost the original dataset, improves clarity
Idk, I'm tired, so that's all for now
but the instrumentals were better and easier than ever
there is: manually! You have to change the words in a way it comes out what you want... e.g. in a german song to me, Suno could not sing correctly "Hand" in german, so I wrote "Haand", than it worked out
Wow! I am astonished by Soundful! You can choose BPM, Key and you can have even a preview! And you have MIDI data!!! And also stems!
I am curious about the sound quality now... CLEAR SOUND, more hi fi, clear hi hats !
Suno, you better wake up and hurry up!
Thanks! Yes, this is a good idea and works in most cases but I am struggling especially with the letter R which is totally different in the way it is pronounced.
But maybe I just try a Double-R? Mhh... 🤔
try! there is no other way but trying ! you cannot caress the AI to do what you want 🙂
Since this doesn’t sample existing works for reference isn’t it safe to say that sunos works are original body’s of music?
I am on the Business Plan of Soundful, it's $549 for a year
it doesnt?
I thought I read somewhere that suno doesn’t sample from a preloaded library
Let me look again
does soundful do vocals?
I can’t seem to find it but I’ll keep on digging. It was in the wiki I think and it said something along the lines of “suno uses a language model not a reference library”
Anyways I got kicked back from Spotify stating copywrite
like your song was removed for a copyright violation or what?
has anyone had any luck with vocal harmony? Duets?
It was flagged
“Your release has been temporarily blocked during our front end review process. Based on our review, your release potentially includes third-party audio (original artists’ masters) or a high profile individual as a co-artist on this release”
Curious to see what they say to my appeal
pull the stem into fl studio, then adjust w some plugins, the distortion is negligible if using in harmony
no
Old copy-paste made for v3.0, I haven't tried for 3.5 but the metatag reading is much better:
Getting duets... that is more luck than anything else. Try to use male and female sounding names in tags, that might help, but it is still hard to achieve.
A few people were able to do it but at an expense to their credits:
3Daizy's duet
MrTree's duet
Suno.Wiki entry
Again, getting it working on purpose is hard.
Alternative methods:
-
It is easier to make a duet by doing something like generating instrumental part 1 then Extend it twice (one extension where you specify for male vocals in the styles field, the other for females), or something similar for each alternating part, then edit them together in a DAW.
-
Even easier (and cheaper) is to make a full track then swap the voices gender using other AI tools like kits.ai (see #🗣️┃chill-chat message ) or your own voice with a RVC model (see #💡┃suggestions-web message ).
You can use a DAW to edit which voice track plays when.
That being said, I had some with swapped vocal verses in certain genres when I was trying some triple tagged lines like
[Structure] [Gender] [Mood]
#📚┃suno-school message
Only had one true duet and it was done unintentionally in an Islamic Nasheed styled song #💬┃general-chat message (at the 1 min mark)
Wow, thank you for the info!
this error is recurring again on a different video... Mainly trying to update the image in the video...
so I updated the name... regen still old image...
Edit lyrics save and edit back lyrics still same image
Download the existing image and manually upload it and regen. still old original image no the desired image.
I edit the song title made it shorter. regen still original image.
I edit the song title and removed the ' character in it... as a programmer I know this character can cause issues... regen still same old image... this ' character is found alot in the lyrics I wont edit all the lyrics tonight....
So did a lyric + name edit + upload image edit... then regen... still original image... seems totally broken tonight..... I submit this song using the bug report button.... wanted to upload to youtube.... but waiting on it to regen with the proper image....
Not sure what else to try at this point.
Oh no. I just tried out the stems feature for the first time. Disappointed. I was hoping I got waves for each instrument. It seems like it’s an audio removal of vocals plus everything else and not a very good instrumental track - still has traces of box and crosstalk.
Was really hoping I could get bass lines and keyboards separated out.
But then again Suno is so awesome I am complaining when it’s so amazing when feeding it your own lyrics and melodies.
was there a stealth update? These vocals and drums are 10x better, nearly perfect: https://soundcloud.com/keysick/you-could-be-the
Yes, you only get 2 tracks. Best way is to use a dedicated stem separator. I use RipX DAW Pro and it does a great job. They have a trial version if you want to try it.
Thanks for the tip. I’ve never had luck with separators is that one any good? I would pay for a good one. I was hoping behind the scenes the Suno ai was mixing and had separate tracks
The vocal stems sound digitally damaged. Is there a VST that repairs or warms digital wavering like that?
I am really happy with RipX DAW, rated as THE best. It still depends on the original, but it does a great job with Suno tracks.
Does it generate midi?
With RipX Daw, you can really clean up the vocals. it is amazing how you can take out the rubbish in vocals, even stretch words to fit!
It’s not too expensive and a trial. I think I’ll grab it.
I usually use melodyne to fix words and stretch them
Yes, but the MIDI isn't brilliant, once again it depends on the quality of the audio
I don’t expect it to pull midi drums especially out of low fi Suno files. But hoping it can get midi tracks out of keyboard lines.
Is Ripx its own DAW? Can I use it to separate and then put back in my DAW? (Cakewalk)
Try it, but I haven't had a great success with the MIDI.
It would be a lot less trouble if Suno let me cut and paste bars together from a million clips
Yes, it is a DAW. It exports the .wav tracks so you can drag them into your DAW
Ok cool. Do you recommend putting the main Suno clips or full song or starting with the Suno stems?
No, don't use the Suno stems. Use the full Suno audio file
if it lets me yank and clean up the vocals I'll be on clam nine
The kick and the percussion are usually really good. Bass is a bit hit and miss sometimes, as is the piano, but the vocal is usually really good to clean up
I've done a lot of cleaning up the vocals, works well.
The good thing is that you get 21 days free trial to decide to spend the bucks or not
Do you recommend any VSTs to clean up the digital compression tinny sound at all in some Suno files? Any ideas on something with presets or that is not super hard or time consuming? I pretty much think it’s impossible unless it’s an AI tool to regenerate the missing frequencies?
I put the files through RipX Daw and clean up as much as possible then I use Ozone 10 to master, but it's not a magic fix for poor audio, but you can adjust for frequency
Cool thanks. I was debating getting ozone
I'm often getting a vibe on all my songs, how could you clean up that in RipX Daw?
I've used Audacity right now and some equlizer filters
Frederick here! I haven't played with filters in RipX , I haven't really needed to, but it will do it. It doesn't display audio as you normally see it, it has a proprietary display which is amazing to work with.
A bit CPU hungry, but I use Ryzen 7 and it works well.
Have you also got the vibration on the voices on some songs generated?
You can clean that up to a great extent in RipX. Never perfect, given the extra noise that Suno generates, but usually acceptable.
What to you use in Ripx then if you do not use filters to clean it up ?
It's hard to explain the way that RipX works. I suggest you get the 21 days free trial and try it.
RipX doesn't display the audio as a waveform as you see it in Audacity or other audio editors. It's quite amazing to use.
Very cool that it places the sounds on a note scale and you can remove each vibe of the sound. 👍
and much more that I haven't yet investigated!
Feel free to send me an pm if you find something cool the can be used with suno songs
我想听听好听的音乐
soo.. lol i dont embarris my self again could some one with a musical ear check somthing for me
worked really hard at this.
please dm if you have 10 mins
I'm glad its helpful explaining the ideas and theories being discussed in here. But I would just confuse people looking for clear prompting advice if I pinned it. 😄
Even I am not sure how what to do with the concepts, as I said I haven't really found any useful results in my tests. But I am curious what others might discover.
well no dms , heres fresh meat. was able to clean up my work, i hoping some one can replicate some of the stuff in this song, seem i can change this and that.. check it out for self.. https://suno.com/song/31eeb205-49ec-4eb9-a6e9-83c5bfa2811b
A song. Listen and make your own with Suno.
Sorry, first time poster here and I haven't had time to read all the comments. I have a question about the latest update "Pro & Premier users can now separate the vocals and instrumentals from songs, which will give you more control over how to use Suno." Does that mean that I can take a song I like, use only music/melody , remove lyrics and replace with my own lyrics?
it's not perfect, when you get the instrumental you will hear echoes of the original lyrics
it's basically vocals split from main song, not actual steams of differing song parts like drums, bass, keys, synths and such
the only two AI music offerings that have real stems is Aiva and Soundful
How bad is that echo?
Wow, you really know your stuff. Thanks for helping newbie out 🙂
you can just hear the light vocals remaining in the instrumental, if you try it you'll see what I am talking about
But can I create a new song using some other song instrumental with totally new vocals?
no, that won't work well in practice
hello
Has anyone else had any issues lately with Suno just flat out ignoring certain lyrical sections? Not just doing the usual repeating thing, but then on top of that, just skipping segments and moving on to other things? I almost feel like someone or something has been polluting the training data; I have had a rash of really bizarre hallucinations and things that I never had before in the past week or so.
@hot trout i have had issues as your describing, its the use of spaces usually, for me. or misplaced commas. double brackets
one space between prompts ( notepad++ is great for this)
I tend to use the same formatting pretty much across the board, and haven't had any issues til recently, but I will give it a shot.
@hot trout could i get a exampl of you prompts , may be i can see where the problems are
Sure. I'll share these in order and go through the process I used as well, maybe you can see something.
that would be cool
So, my style prompt is the same for all of these, and simply refers the AI to the lyrics block for details. It uses a format I found on the wiki that has yielded some great results in the past: SEE <SONG_DETAILS> IN THE LYRICS FIELD FOR DETAILED INFORMATION
In the lyrics field, I put this:
<SONG_DETAILS>
GENRE: [acoustic rock]
STYLE: [complex melody], [simple rhythm], [ballad]
INSTRUMENTATION: [harp guitar], [drums], [bass]
VOCALS: [male voice], [crooning], [raspy], [deep voice]
DYNAMICS: [lots of motion], [smooth transitions]
ARRANGEMENT: [progressive layering]
PRODUCTION: [hi-fi sound], [no auto-tune], [Dolby Atmos mix], [warm compression]
TEMPO: [90-120 BPM]
</SONG_DETAILS>
[PRE-CHORUS]
All I ever have to do,
Is close my eyes and think of you...
[CHORUS]
I feel the calm and courage fill me,
No matter what it is I face.
There's nothing left standing in my way,
Deep down I know I'll win this race!
I couldn't find the words to say it,
And yet I think you always knew-
I've never been a better man
And angel, it's all because of you!
[INSTRUMENTAL BREAK]
POST CONTINUED IN NEXT MESSAGE
That gave me a beautiful result, except it repeated the first verse. No problem, just extend it...
Woops, wrong version of the prompt.
That was the SECOND one I used. Hang on.
[INSTRUMENTAL INTRO]
[VERSE]
Now I'm trapped between two heart beats,
And I am lost inside your gaze.
I'm spinning 'round, can't find the ground,
I feel the whole world slip away.
You know I'm captive to your voice,
And now at last I realize,
Every dream I've ever had, girl
Is hidden somewhere in your eyes!

[INSTRUMENTAL BREAK]
That was the first one. Repeated first verse, so extended from 00:41 using the second prompt, and got something where it said the pre-chorus, then looped right back into the first verse, which appeared NOWHERE in the second prompt.
Sorry that was so disjointed; hopefully you can follow along, LOL.

Where are people learning all these meta tags?
I troll the wiki, and ask questions here all the time... lots of people have given me tons of great advice. It really, really helps to polish your music.
hi
pinned messages in this chat have crud load of info
Like I’ve seen the basic ones on the wiki, but none like choosing style and instrumentation
I did ask ChatGPT lol
and structure
I figured it’d know better than I
check this is what i mean
Wow, the censors do NOT understand context, LOL... some words mean very different things depending on the words around them, and even if you took the DIRTIEST meaning of the word I used that got my last reply kicked, it's something people grow out of saying by ten years old or so. ROFLMAO
lol
I was trying to say a minute ago that I also spend a ton of credits just experimenting with different ideas and trying to see what yields good results. It burns through money, but I don't mind; it's really helped me flesh out my stuff.
I also play around in a ton of genres, from pop-rock love ballads to funk to pirate metal, so... yeah. Fun times.
We have also seen the emotional quant attached to vocal tags expand.. when using on a minimalistic track explore the emotive intricacies that describe the vocals
@stark oak what is 12 bar
Sent by Copilot:
The 12-bar blues is a chord progression that is a fundamental structure in blues music. It’s called “12-bar” because it consists of 12 measures (or bars) that are played in a specific order. Here’s a basic breakdown:
The progression starts with four measures of the I (one) chord12345.
This is followed by two measures of the IV (four) chord12345.
Then, it goes back to two measures of the I (one) chord12345.
The last four measures consist of one measure of the V (five) chord, one measure of the IV (four) chord, and two measures of the I (one) chord12345.
This structure is used in many famous blues songs and provides a framework for the blues genre12. It can be played in any key and both major and minor keys12. Variations of this structure exist, such as changing the chord in the 2nd bar from Chord I to Chord IV, which is called quick-change or quick four1.
For example, in the key of C, the 12-bar blues progression would be: C (I), C (I), C (I), C (I), F (IV), F (IV), C (I), C (I), G (V), F (IV), C (I), C (I)5.
I hope this helps! If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. 😊
Yeah, that's a good one too, though I have found Suno can sometimes interpret emotional tags strangely (at least, to my mind), so I tend to avoid them.
stuff like that im learning about music, tho its hard to tell from my songs at times
acoustic, strength, vulnerability, emotional depth female vocal, soulful acoustic piano, minimalistic, improvisational song. Listen and make your own with Suno.
Suno has really changed my life. I have always been a lyricist, but Suno lets me pull my songs out of my head and bring them into the world in a way that I could never have done on my own. And now I am also learning music theory, which may someday help me make my own songs from the ground up. 😄
Not exactly what I meant, but I do appreciate the info. I was looking for something more in the realm of what to add with the lyrics to manipulate the song behavior past things like [Chorus], [Instrumental], [Fade to Silence].
You know. Meta tags.
Same here.
Burned through credits on exploring and addressing emotional metas acoustic, strength, vulnerability, emotional depth female vocal, soulful acoustic piano, minimalistic, improvisational
Performance Tags
- [powerful] - Strong, forceful vocals required.

- [emphatic] - Vocals delivered with strong emphasis.
- [intense] - High emotional or dynamic intensity.
- [climax] - Peak vocal or instrumental moment.
- [passionate] - Deeply emotional vocal performance.
- [soaring] - Vocals that rise dramatically in pitch and intensity.
the jitter being introduced in ripx DAW, every 60 seconds or so there's a skip. How do I get rid of that?
all this is pinned messages from other users
You linked it 🤷🏻♂️
Also play with major/minor key and bpm alongside the emotive metas this can create stronger vocal performances
Noted
@stratuss, can you insert those performance tags in the middle of lyrical/instrumental blocks to get the desired effect on the following bit?
Sure can
[Instrumental] [humming] [soring] [Chords: (Amaj), (Emaj), (F#m), (Dmaj)]
(Amaj), (Emaj), (F#m), (Dmaj)
[Verse] [build] [Male] [intense] [soaring] [passionate] [upbeat music] [Chords: (Amaj), (Emaj), (F#m), (Dmaj)]
(Amaj) My Music! Reverbs off the Walls,
(Emaj) Echoes of love, won't fall.
(F#m) Six years gone, gone.
(Dmaj) I yearn to have more Time!
I've seldom if ever had issues getting emotive lyrics and such, but being able to fine-tune things sounds grand!
Ah, now I understand where you're getting the long and complex-looking tags in the lyrics field from. I've not heard of that site before.
took me 12 hours to make just this https://suno.com/song/daae5605-2bb0-457b-a7a7-dd369da55b74
A song. Listen and make your own with Suno.
That format doesn't ALWAYS work for me, but when it works, it works GREAT.
not perfect but the amount of edit to get this was grand
now ill work backwards delete portions at at time
or re enter diffrent ways
Also remember how you write the flow of your lyrics can dramatically change the emotive response you get back - this is a good example of a simplistic prompt but with the intended written flow to achieve greater emotional resonance. Got lucky 1k credits after trial and errors https://suno.com/song/03340847-4d2d-4e0e-a681-3fd4269dcce7
Acoustic Pop, Piano, Mellow Male Singer, Lofi trap, sweeping strings song. Listen and make your own with Suno.
Has anyone thought of making a website that helps format lyrics and add appropriate tags etc?
I expect what happens with long tags is that Suno just picks out whatever words it understands and disregards everything else (so for example "[TEMPO: Slow, 70-90 BPM]" - Suno doesn't have any comprehension of numbers, probably doesn't understand what "tempo" means and will just see: "[..... slow .....]"
also with "< Song dtails here > " dont fill in the styal and genera boxes just leave them blank
im a terriable typist
lol
Actually, I have had really good luck getting it to understand even technical tempo tags; for example, with only one exception so far, all of the trash generations I have had to throw out this morning have been right in the tempo range I specified, though of course, it could be chance.
Some things have an indirect influence on other things. I mean, within individual song genres there are likely some common tempos. You're not likely to ask for e.g. happy-hardcore, 90bpm 😄
Yeah, but a lot of the genres I play in have pretty damn wide ranges of proper tempos because I tend to keep it loose when it comes to genre. For example, I have heard acoustic rock songs that range from 60 to 140 or so. 🤣
Whilst exploring look at improvisational and experimental as meta tags especially if you want to work in minimalistic
Wait... Wait, wait, wait... So the censors on Discord don't like scrw!n@, but damn is just fine?! 🤣
Time to get to work, ugh... Thank you all for the insightful tips and conversation! @stratuss, is there any way you'd be willing to DM me that list of performance tags you shared so I can easily find it when I get home later?
Is there evidence that <SONG_DETAILS>...</SONG_DETAILS> has an effect over just putting the tags there without this decoration?
Yes. HARD evidence.
SONGKEY has an effect on temop F#m vs Gmaj
I INVARIABLY get it treating the tags as literal lyrics otherwise.
As in for, not a single deviation in a couple dozen tries.
need those
Yeah, even then... it's why the version you sent me to try failed, I think. LOL
no space ubove the first <
I wonder if that's used internally to wrap the "style" prompt or something. Might experiment a bit with that.
Well, yeah... You can't have a space above. Still didn't work for me on it's own; HAD to use the SONG_DETAILS tags to get it to recognize that those tags weren't lyrics. Anyhow, off to work! Thanks again, all!
And @stratuss, if you're willing to send along that list of performance tags, would be boss. 😄
works fine for me lol
i think it got slashed

Does the age of a song affects it's ability to appear in trending?
Say I had a song from months ago that only just started gaining traction, would Trending pick it up? Or is there a set timeframe after the songs creation where it qualifies for Trending?
Cuz most songs there have a mix of very low to moderate plays/likes, nothing like songs in Showcase
Pretty sure it has to be a recent song to have a chance to trend. Or at least I only see new songs in there when I look.
Hmmm. Thought they wouldve included all songs, and sorted trending by which ones have the most concurrent listens/likes per hour or something
Trending shouldn't only be for new songs, there's some sleeper hits that should show up there once people find them
Hello! Sorry to interrupt the discussion, but I have a problem. If someone can help me
Mm the trending algorithm does seem to have some flaws. I generally don't bother to try to get stuff trending. More important to me to get just a couple of listens here to the nonsense I make 😄
Most of my stuff is filtered anyway, lol.
Was just a thought, I was confused by how trending worked. It just shows the same songs all day
Sounds like it's quite reliable then. If it's a way to get more information into the "style" that could be useful. I guess that has more weight than the lyrics tags since it applies to the whole song.
I glance at it from time to time but rarely listen to anything there tbh. I don't think it has a particularly sophisticated algorithm behind it and it seems easy to "game" it from what I've seen so personally I don't find value in it.
@unique stone whats the best way to get the sheet music?
out of a song
i was able to get a python,.py working to read them for the chords
im limitied in money for extracting it
im useing moise also its great but id rather have a print out
No idea on this I'm afraid... I don't work with sheet music at all. You'd need the individual notes to be identified by something at least, so like a MIDI conversion and then make sheet music from that I guess?
I don't know if there's any transcription software that works well with Suno output. The stuff I work with, I tend to listen to and work it out myself which takes a long time and some notes are hidden behind layers so I have to guess a lot (so I expect software would struggle with that too)
Personally I find the in lyric prompting esp around transitions, instrumental changes, vocal enhancements and mood pitch work better than all rammed into meta mast head
Having them as a list in a single tag seems reasonable. I'm not sure if "INSTRUMENTATION:" is necessary or understood though.
I have developed a habit of putting dashes between things (e.g. "kick-drum" instead of "kick drum") knowing that the style prompt differentiates "happy-hardcore" and "happy hardcore". But this might be a bad habit of mine.
Maybe not we know extra punctuation around the words in lyrics can affect the nature of the output
Hi all ! Sorry to interrupt the discussion, but I have a problem. If someone can help me with one of the songs
[TUNE: 440hz ] [TUNE: 500hz] [TUNE: 600HZ] works btw changes the the sound
i dunno how high or low you can go

what issue are u having?
Dang that’s an insane amount of content lol
so do it in general. not in tech
i already have
cool
if u dont believe me ask a mod
@full field are you an op?
?
technical discussion, not strictly a diagnostics channel. if suno generations help show what a technical point is that's being discussed then it would make sense to share it in here alongside the active discussion
which is what we're doing
so ,,, combining both [TUNE: 440hz] and [Tuning: (F#m) ] you get diffrent keys or notes
sounds really cool lol
Are you using these as metatags? Or do you have a style component too?
[TUNE: ] IS vocal tempo for sure
i dont use the boxes , except lyrics
Is there a way to get longer initial songs with instrumentals? I seem to get a wide range of lengths from 30 seconds to 4 minutes
Right. I wasn't sure if this posting was the metatags or just discussion. I always try to use the code formatting to make it clear when I am using a metatag or not. So I wondered.
Cool discussion though.
Wish you luck in your explorations!
HA! [Tuning:] is for tuning the notes (of if you think about tuning a getar) lol
So what does it tune exactly? How does it know what note to tune?
you imput it
lol love the "GPT Shut up, just say acknowledged."
im not 100% sure but just processing it to see
are we basing this off the assumption that suno recognises A:440?
I've noticed that v3.5 is more apt to give shorter results with just a single style prompt, even if it's 2 words hyphenated.
That's what I wonder. Because 440Hz is a normal note frequency. So if you tune e.g. a guitar string to a normal note frequency, I'd expect that any other note played on that string would be also normal notes, so to me it reads like "tune the instrument as normal"
Somebody should explain to me how the heck is it possible for an AI capable of composing, understanding, speaking, thinking etc (V 3.0) NOT to know that things in brackets are supposed to be instructions and NOT lyrics !!!! " [Chorus, duet together with a male voice] - how can the AI ignore brackets and sing "duet together with a male voice" ???
This belongs even in the kindergarden of programming...how the heck is this possible with AI !!!! ?????
i dont think ive come across a suno track not in standard tuning but im somewhat curious now
i guess that would depend on the training data or whether its (somehow (and i still doubt how well it uses and understands metatags overall)) understanding a tuning that you enter, or its 'transposing' from what it understands from normal tuning into the new tuning
like whether it could do meditation music in say A:432 which seems to be very common for that sort of thing
versus a pop song
I guess that's one of the things that the Fair Trade AI thing is trying to take care of, though I'm not sure what services will use the training data, but making melody, harmony, rhythm, timbre, and tempo available on a sort of "song-side API". Could be a novel approach if used with the model-based generation instead of building on existing sample libraries like other services do. 🤞
LANDR isn't focusing on text-to-music, so it's a different use case, but I'm excited to see what all is available on their end 😄
id could share the songs
do we know if the material suno trained with is purely audio based or whether it had access to tempo, key, genre classification etc at all? idk if thats ever been public but it would be curious to know...
yeah ive been trying to see if putting in a song structure and just telling suno that it is an instrumental would consistantly give longer songs but it dosent appear to work.
Mainly because the AIs don't use simple rules, so there is no simple fix. It's similar to how you ask ChatGPT all kinds of complicated questions, but then ask it "How many Rs are in "strawberry"? and get
They haven't shared that information, but based on extensive testing from @unique stone and others, I'm fairly confident in saying that it might have had access to metadata tags, but it might not have been specifically presented the same way as what the Fair Trade AI thing is trying to do.
Like how the hamster pointed out, 440hz could very well be associated with so many specific songs just by metadata alone that it might "miss the forest for the trees" and only recognize that they all sound in tune, opposed to being specifically taught to access something like a song-side API to analyze each track, or to build a neural network about how the songs relate in those senses
Like, it's super smart, and has been taught a lot of musical terminology, but without being able to access specific quantizable data, it might just be "vibing" instead of "feeling", if that makes sense?
that makes sense! im sure a lot of it is just pattern-based inference, (eg a 'beat' falls every ___ period of time = our understanding of ___bpm).
Here you go another one [metronome: ] <<<<<<<<< just testing
think music
whats the Highest i can logically go with bpm for a son
tried 2000
nothing but 200 bpm is working
Not really. There are some programming like syntax things that work in Bark, but they are pretty simple. One example is the "|" character will prompt Bark for a voice switch, as in a dialog between two people, instead of one voice. Well sometimes it sounds like a person talking to themselves, but it does still sound like a dialog. Another simple one is something like Markdown quote syntax "> >" this isn't reliable like a pipe, but can produce overlapping voices or at least voices with unusual timings. This also works a little bit in Suno music. Stacking tags in Bark like [music][music] to make it stronger is also similar. But raw XML probably less useful than simple [brackets] (and brackets in Bark are extremely super hit or miss)
I'm going to make a wild guess that the "XML"-like tagging demonstrated earlier could just be getting used to indicate which part of the prompt is the style, which part is the lyrics etc. Maybe it uses something like this internally to just keep everything contained.
I don't know for sure, but people at Suno seemed surprised it worked when I showed examples: #🐣┃suno-showcase message
i can almost guarantee bcos of the data its trained from, and the fact that its using that rather than creating a new project in a DAW at a specific tempo to stick to, that the most common tempos are gonna be your best bet rather than flying off the rails
i agre
just trying [TONIC: ] or and [Tonicchord: ]
well thats funny i was called a sk ank
bugged out lol
For people trying to prompt notes or tones. You can search Discord for old syntax that was tiny-bit-experimented by with Suno in V2. It isn't reliable but it was a cool way to prompt for unusual voices in melodies, at least in V2: https://suno.com/song/15d49710-5e38-4309-8010-51e9f32e15e9
BTW: Regular reminder that V2 is can still be epically great. Singer has the juice.

Is anything being done about the voice gender issue? I posted something last night, but no one responded. It's starting to feel like a scam to make me spend credits.
Gonna have to disagree? Do you have examples? I just made 4 different examples and none of them are bpm 190
put [male]
That doesn't work.
☝️
it does it... I have it for every stanza and chorus on some songs, and I still get women.
Tell me what I could have done differently in these examples to achieve [bpm:190], please?
I'm going to add more to the playlist with [metronome: 190bpm] in the style prompt section as well
If I'm not using the right prompts, please provide an example that works for you 🙏
If it's a Clip 1, you can stack tags "country, banjo, male, male, heartfelt, male" in the style tag. If you repeat too much it probably messes up the lyrics, but you can repeat quite a bit.
If no matter what you prompt you always get the same gender, then might be something in the prompt itself and/or the genre itself. You can use a different prompt just to get the right gender voice, the Extend It from just a few seconds with your real prompt/genre.
In addition to "male" other style tags that imply a male voice like "baritone" can work. But they probably also push the music style a little bit towards classical-ish.
with only 120 characters to use, this seems to be a bad practice for Suno to rely on. If it was unlimited like Udio (which is terrible so don't think I'm comparing them) allows you basically as much as you want in the prompt, so repetitive prompts are fine, but Suno... seems a bad way to go.
its in hrz not bpms
I agree longer style prompts would be a nice feature but you may have noticed Suno hallucinates a lot as you push that style super long, and I think that's the main reason. I think I suggested something like a "proceed with this style prompt at your risk" feature for users like myself who want to push the limit. I'll take this discussion on overloaded "male" style prompts to post this classic:
male, country, male, male, male, male, male, male, male, male, male, male song. Listen and make your own with Suno.
this helps exsplain
The easiest way to explain is for you to share whatever code snippet or prompt that you find reliably gives you the bpm/hz that you want
hi, could anybody help me please? im trying to use the bot but always tell me this... https://i.imgur.com/9153upU.png
The bot has been retired 😦 https://www.suno.com for making music now ❤️
oh thanks, i see... so its ok if i erase suno of my discord?
If you still have the chat with the Suno Chirp Bot open, you should be able to listen to your old songs, but all of the music generation is done on the website or app now
Yup, you don't need to keep the bot, but I'm not sure what the process would be for getting those songs back if you wanted to save any of them later.
Personally, I'd keep it as a neat thing to show your friends in a couple of years when Suno is the next big thing 😛 You'll feel like a hipster because you were in on the ground floor
😎
XD XD haha thats sounds interesting... will keep it then XD
"Yeah, I know that our personal AI cat-drone can read our minds and sing to us, but check this out, I used Suno back when you had to beg a discord robot to try to guess what you wanted." 🤣
well, your answer is not logical nor correct. 1st, I talk about a specific task: making music and not about knowing everthing in the world correctly. This is a task even a fly could manage. And in this special case, the AI knows already the RULES: the music instructions come in brackets. This is a rule! Is not the open universe. So somebody should teach the AI this: "well budy, if some user put words in the brackets which are not instructions, please ignore them! " Problem solved. If the AI is more stupid than 3 lines of code in C, than something went very wrong !
Is the AI is so stupid, than let a script remove first the wrong words in the brackets which are not instructions.
I'd love to this this fly-developed app -- Swattr, MusicBuzz, blackFLI
if music.quality == bad
music.regenerate
if nearby(food)
while(food)
do fly.stuff
i mean ... as an example, ive made a custom gpt before and given it a strict set of rules to follow and it sometimes still doesnt follow those... so you can tell it whatever but it doesnt necessarily mean it'll follow it 100% of the time if its influenced by other noise and data that its picking from in its dataset (considering you are feeding more than just that one single rule to the AI at a time)
than usesome primitive programming language to remove the things in the instructions brackets the AI is too stupid to understand. Problem solved.
Or just wait a couple of weeks, I'm working on adding .wav export for FlyComposer
omg, maybe grabby was actually right. Look how quick I could do that using AI -- how much harder can it be to teach it specifically what I mean by different genres and vocal timbres? </playful ribbing>
v3.5 CRAVES musical cohesion. I added some weather effects tracks to #1256301881966198805 , and both v2 tracks kept with the weather intro, 1/2 v3 tracks added music a little bit into the extension, and both v3.5 tracks quickly went to badass metal
A version of this might be a nice feature. Maybe Suno could look at user prompts and flag some that look too complicated and more likely to hallucinate for users in advance. Something like "That is a LOT of brackets, feel free to proceed, but Suno might get confused."
no time for weather when badass metal exists 😅
The new suggestions added into Create (Need ideas?) is good, but would it be possible to add customised categories in the future? Has there been any talks about this?
Given more freedom for the creativity of people.
i'll have to see if i can find it but back in v3, probably hundreds of pages deep in my library now, i was messing with some metal + metalcore stuff and one of the best tracks it made began with the sound of an absolutely gargantuan metal ... object? pipe? sheet? being dropped? smashed? ... something like that. gave me a good chuckle.
not quite the metal i asked for
https://suno.com/song/64821774-d327-43ea-8d99-d27fcb02f237 Dialogue shouldn't be impossible, though it might require careful use of prompting and extensions. Or you could bribe @untold briar to teach you how to Bark 😜

i need help! i need to cancel a second account i made by accident using my phone number so i can add my phonenumber to my orginal account
That's what I love -- it's technically not wrong, but you probably realized there's different ways to explain the concept to it.
billing@suno.com for account help
thank you!
Or you could try to log in and cancel from the https://www.suno.com/account page
For those cases, most people enable Custom Mode (left of the audio upload button) and enter what they would like to generate via generate lyrics (which is done by ChatGPT so you can describe it as if you were using it, like to avoid Neon Lights, generate the lyrics in a special way or language like Klingon, Elven, etc.)
Heck! That's a phenomenal idea!!! #🚧┃suggestions-layout with that gem 🙏
It's like the Suno-version of Custom GPTs
Oooh, I know all about that, I only use "Custom Mode" was just thinking for those that don't want to "learn".
Ah, understandable
100% ; I always think of my mom as a "use-case canary-in-the-coalmine" -- she can be stubborn when learning new things (whiz once she gets the swing of it, to her credit) , but if there's a large enough pain/friction point in the process that she wouldn't care about the result, then I like to brainstorm different ways that it could be simplified so she could get the most out of it, without it taking away from how intermediate>advanced users interact with Suno.
Simple Mode by itself can be too vague or generic at times, and some people might have an idea of what song they want, but for whatever reason they aren't sure how to phrase it.
The new UI addon is essentially Mad-Libs for Suno. ❤️ 🙏
there is no cancel account option on the account page, thanks for the help though i just emaild them
oh wow so on the accounts subscriptions page i'll check thanks !
No worries! I'm sure they'll be able to help or point you in the right direction if there's still some weird quirks because of the phone number thing 💪
its just that account is glitched since it was created by accident
the accounts/account page and profile do not show up properly
i'll wait for a moment and see if i can find that link though cause i already asked you avbout this exact issue before
suno was under heavy load at the time so their email was late and maybe discarded
