I’m starting new thread just to not make messages that much further down for everyone else.
So your terrain tool appears to be working somewhat. So it is possible world bounds. Select your world entity on the list on the lift, then look at its object properties. Send screenshot of that for me.
Try changing the green max 500 number, that may be your max height.

I think the minimums are wrong too
Height max is the height of your terrain. So if the highest elevation is 500m and the height max is 400m then everything above 400m won't work (I think)

Do you know how to make back up daves of your map? Essentially copy pasting your main project folder somewhere else.
But I think the minimum X and Z should be 0 and the max should be the size of the terrain in meters
We’re both not home able to reference our maps, maybe someone else will chime in. But before messing with those numbers close out and make back up save. Then you can try to mess with height world bounds changes saferr.
Yeah most things here are "I think" because very little is explained. Half the issues are bugs. And I don't have the time to mess around with things as much anymore

i used a wide tool and it follows completely different lines that i do not know what are

So in my experience you want to do terrain work a little bit closer than you are. It also may be that your computer is processing the changes as your moving, and the slight lag changes your direction slightly. You also want to mess with the strength, falloff, using the same tool but with smooth setting. I tend to use the flatten tool, then smooth tool. But my terrain is a lot different and I’m no expect on terrain editing.
Sculpt will continue to raise (or lower using ctrl or alt I forget) until you release the button. Where as flatter will only go to that level. And smooth tool will continue to smooth

the sculpt tool definitely works only in some places
So it won’t work directly on roads, only around roads if you have “adjust height map on the road entity selected. It sounds like you have a bounds issue.

yes
that is probably why i can perfectly draw only at 25% of the map
and the numbers make no difference what so ever.

The world bounds need to be changed in notepad and then reopened in world editor.

Do you have a back up of your save made? And this may be a dumb question based on on what you’ve said so far, but you haven’t sculpted your terrain at all? It’s just default imported height map? Only asking because it looks good if it is basic import.
I am very skilled in World Machine, which is a software that is capable to export basically into anything, i used create masks to paint the textures and the whole heightmap.
i have not used the sculpt tool until now since i wanna create roads. and do a bit of manual touches.

The other weird thing in your video is there’s like a square Shadow that follows you. I don’t think I’ve ever noticed that.The black square gotta be something with your camera I’m sure, but it looked like the edge of that shadow caused the terrain tool to have an edge on where it raised.
I am quite sure that is how lods work in this system
its a lod box around the camera
within that stuff loads more nicely.
Do not rename the default layer, make a new layer, then move everything except the world and terrain into that layer. Save, quit and reload.
can you not just make it the other way around
From what I understand default layer needs to stay. It loads before all others. So you want world and terrain to load first. Right click on your unammed world, new layer. Name it anything you want. Make sure EVERYTHING in that list your are moving is collapsed, meaning you don’t see any children, only the parents. Then move everything. I’ll link a video if you need example.

There’s chance it’s not bounds issue, try what I just mentioned. You definitely have a weird issue. Just trying to help with process of elimination by what’s commonly mentioned in here.

the bounds btw did absolutely nothing btw
and when i paint
i click this magical button called rebuild height map
it literally spreads out what i painted into the whole map.
What do you mean it did nothing? The black box didn't change? (View > World Bounds is how you turn it on)
as you can see i managed to hit it pin point
it was not the bounds issue
this has something to do with the fact that i am running 2meters per pixel
most people are running 2m/px (for the heightmap)

Have you tried on a different project. Loading up a terrain with no imported height map.
i cant even import the height map into a new project without it crashing
tried a test map and it works
not to mention the bound map is no where near close that
and i can still sculpt it

So you are able to do a brand new project with a flat terrain, no imported height, and can sculpt. When you import your generated height map it crashes?

i completely deleted the terrain in my actual project

the new project has functional sculpting but the project i am working in has not.

Okay interesting. So you make whole new project, import your height map and satmap, it works fine on a brand new project. On old one still doesn’t. Is that right?

when i hover over the ground it doesnt show a reticle
it says Material:none
this happens to me too on flat terrain that i just tested right now
reducing camera far plane into 2000 allowed the reticle to show up
did the edges days ago and it works fine

nah i found out while testing right now that the reticle for doing scultping does not show
i set it higher cause iwant to actually see what im doing furhter away than 5 feet
and its caused by far plane.
Thought that was not my issue with not being able to do scultping.

As a project reality dev, i spent enough time reading 2008 tutorials.
That tutorial has slot of good information. I’ve been trying to do videos with information from that tutorial, things I’ve learned, and things I’ve read here. But that tutorial is worth a read in case you missed something it says. He tries to keep it up to date too.

No offense, but that may be your issue. I’m all for reverse engineering, it’s how I learn most of time. However, the engine has been out only like 3years, still buggy, and a lot of people that have spent a lot of time dealing with the bugs. That’s point behind that tutorial. PianoMan has great videos I believe one about importing sat image in a 4 part series. You could skip to where he starts with loading infusion on new project. If you were a dev you understand some things need to be specific and everyone’s machines handles bugs differently. Such as the default layer I mentioned earlier. So I would highly recommend tutorials to just get the stuff working instead of bashing your had this early on.

all i did was do PPE effects
terrain
import height map
make sure 0,0,0
import satellite map
set all the presets in world
atmosphere etc
thats all i did
there is no reason for it not to work.
then i started working on terrain painting, so doing objects was the last.
I agree, but unfortunately it isn’t when on non imported height map you didn’t have issue. So something is happening. I only asked about objects earlier because there’s a way that you can copy layers with objects into another project. So if Project 1 is “corrupted” but project 2 with the height map and sat image you want is working just fine, you can still transfer the items over. They won’t be in perfect place most likely, but very close if not spot on.
So i rebuild everything imported back all the terrain masks
and it works
all it needed was deleting the terrain and completely reimporting it.

So deleted the terrain entity, reimported it, and it now lets you sculpt like you want to?
