i'm really surpised as well, reforger could at this point become its own game in a matter of months (since now its basically a tech demo) if peaple continue to pump out content with this speed :D
you guys from bohemia just have to do 3 things:
- release a somewhat similar to Eden, Editor (something more accessible than whats now "Workbench")
- develop the AI (but you've already said that its one of the objectives of EA so :D )
- tweak Game Master a bit (i've heard some criticism as it's not as "complete" as Arma 3's, but this could be considered "secondary" in comparison to the first two points )
then you'll have made the perfect arma game imo
and fix bugs, but well that was somewhat implied tho XD
+1 to the first point -- there's still a large enough portion of the playerbase that just wants a more casual editor like in prior titles
me and my group are in that portion, we would love to switch from A3 to reforger (once more content releases or big mods start to roll out) but the editor and AI (and price in a way) are really making it not worth it as of right now
BloodLust patch released: tweaked blood material, fixed issue where splatters had a weird box outline in certain lighting conditions, and tweaked splatter sizes.

I wish it was possible to set only select portions to be hidden. Having the microphone on RHS Status Quo's CVC helmet poking out of the bottom of the screen is pretty cool, but the helmet brim overhead is a bit more on the distracting side

Dang was trying to post a picture, won't let me but that's fine. But I think this is the same kind of thing that people used for Arma 2 and 3 to make shields, right? Since these are also bulletproof while on a character, wouldn't it be possible to make body armor with that too?

Yea sometimes it doesn't work, from what I've seen. Even the bullpup that BI put in doesn't seem to work for everyone, myself included. Be nice if they added a loadout editor

I have no doubt we will, I just think that it's weird that they didn't think it necessary to have that in game when this launched
This game is really confusing sometimes. On one hand, the AI works pretty well in terms of them searching for enemies, they go indoors to search, they retreat if they're heavily outnumbered, but somehow they just like, REFUSE to take cover other than going prone. They have very basic pathing that usually makes them jump fences instead of going through the hole 5 feet away, that sort of thing. For a test, it's nice to see this in a state where it's relatively playable, but the AI is so inconsistent that it's just kind of awkward. Then some vehicle's wheels clip through the ground when driving, it's missing a basic virtual arsenal, that sort of thing. I'm not too upset about it, but if they're selling it for $30, I was expecting at least a few more basic features

Guys, be careful what content you put in the game. If you don't have the author's permission to put it in the game, don't do it. If everybody starts doing that, it's going to get messy real fast. I respect the work of the importers as much as the artists and developers, but importing content without permission is a detriment to the whole community and the developers. For example, Widow got specific permission from Void to put RON stuff in game (which is fucking awesome, might I add). However I think Bohemia is only letting select modding teams port over Bohemia content. Like RHS and CUP, as far as I know, are the main ones that are "allowed" to port this stuff over

Well, I think this is more enforced now that Bohemia is using their own workshop. Now, it's 100% their job to police it and make sure there's no copyright infringement. Otherwise, they're "allowing" it. So yea, get permission and you're good. Otherwise, you're gonna have a lot of people reporting it
Also seems like you can't rip stuff from previous arma games and dayz without getting the go-ahead from Bohemia, so that's kinda new too. People used to get away with it easier

These packs have specific licenses that allow importing into other games (Arma and/or DayZ). Maybe it's just a little harder to tell in the video. Yea I saw that there was active bleeding, just way more blood on the initial hit than on the bleeding, which obviously is realistic. I remember bloodlust from awrma 3 had more blood when bleeding. That looks really good, can't wait for every server to make people download this lol

Get hit by a helicopter blade and just spray blood, that'd be cool too, but I don't know if there's a way to differentiate between damage types and blood decals
also blood decals are currently set to live forever in BloodLust2, but I should probably change that -- haven't seen any noticeable performance hits from having a bunch of blood decals yet
might change it to live for 10 mins in the next update

This new engine is awesome from what I've seen, just missing some features, but the engine seems to be way easier to work with from what I've heard. Just a matter of learning the tools
I know the blood pooling in BloodLust in Arma 3 absolutely killed my frames
It never affected mine too bad, cause ya know, the game always ran like shit lol
For me it dropped my game down to 1 frame while it pooled out, and then would run a consistent 15 frames while it was there, so I just turned it off entirely
I'll be interested to see how a DayZ mod turns out. That'd be fun as hell with the really good lighting in this

It's been great so far, adds that little effect that you don't know you need for immersion till you have it
especially having blood splatters on the wall
I'd like to know or figure out if it's possible to animate materials, like changing the alpha amount, specularity, color, etc during runtime
then I could animate these splatters to appear less harshly/instantly, and also animate blood pools
There was one where the blood would smear across the ground when ragdolling, idk if that was bloodlust or not cause I haven't messed with them in a while

All I want now is ragdoll deaths, I find the biggest thing for me right now that makes gun fights feel not as great is the lackluster response when the guy on the other end gets hit

I don't know if I would do the current animation we have, they do feel kind of cheesy, but a small animation that goes into a ragdoll, sort of like what Project Injury Reaction for A3 did

Well the animation only plays halfway, then it ragdolls. I think they could play even less of the animation, then ragdoll. But if it's a headshot, immediately drop to ragdoll, no animation, just drop like a rock

was gonna try that out actually, edit some A2 stuff and bring its true potential out, how'd you keep a lot of the details?
@sweet hull The basic workflow for adapting it was to bring it into blender and get rid of the modeled magazines (Easy, they're in their own vertex group) then I brought the vanilla normal and ambient occlusion map into substance painter
Then I just work with those and work up a new colormap

Cheers, I'll note that some of the lower poly areas such as the barrel and grip really show their age. It's worth doing a little sprucing up with subdivision and such to bring them up to par with Reforger models

The AKS-74U is only about 2000 tris, whereas the Reforger vanilla AK is about 17,000

When using older assets Iβd suggest adding some extra bevels and geometry to certain area that are extremely close to the camera like iron sights and such.
@random basin That is looking to be the solution. It is a very workable mesh with a lot of tri budget to go until you hit the ceiling of vanilla assets

Thanks to @finite compass my rifle finally shows up on the Arsenal, along with the PMAG, PMAG is also compatible with the base M16A2 rifle. I'm still working on the weapon, actively working out how to set up a few attachments but not sure how long that will take.
For anyone curious, this is a purchased model, from CGTrader, proof can be shown along with any required licencing. I've also noted this in the description, despite the seller not requiring it.
This was all done on my Livestream on Twitch last night, glad to have gotten it working.

Forgot to crank the graphics for the shots, same spot, full detail. Noticed a few issues and forgot to change the fire mode to safe,semi,auto so it's currently safe,semi,burst. Rookie error lol.

Looks damn good. I'd suggest moving your "eye" down a little and moving the rifle forward a pinch. Slightly clipping through the shoulder. A good refrence point would be to have your finger just a mm away from the trigger.

Yeah mate, I have a number of things to fix, the fire selector is out of alignment, eye position is a little off (I guessed the position and not moved it yet lol. I am also working out positioning etc. First version and first mod for me so can't get it all right π
How exactly is the "eye" position defined? Is it via Enfusion or from the model or animation?

Next patch for BloodLust2 fixes an issue that wasn't using all of the splatter and bleed textures I made, which will increase the variety of blood decals.

they have to be recreated from scratch due to a new engine and a New texture Workflow

the models (and i think that the textures too) can be imported, but all the configs need to be remade from scratch.

Weapon Camera Shake mod updated -- fixed an issue where melee and zooming in scopes was broken.
I always loved the audio in DayZ. Guns where extremely loud, most likely a way of "balancing" them for pvp. But if you shot one of the big braked 50's in that game your headset literally exploded it felt like. Would be awesome to get that kind of audio in Reforger/A4. With earplugs toning it down and being a necessity
