Also, WCS seems to be heavily pushing back on major HQC features. Operations screen is broken and there's no AI there I believe.

It's very different than any other mainstream FPS. My advice is always play the tutorial all the way through and start with official unmodded conflict. In terms of flying helicopters you will need to rank up to the appropriate rank each match (for conflict) to be able to spawn helicopters, and will need to balance how useful the helicopter will actually be vs. the supply cost of getting it

I really enjoy and strongly recommend Reforger; however, it is not everyone's cup of tea. It's a military sandbox (not military simulator), meaning you can make it whatever kind of game you want, within the limits of mods and the game itself

If you are looking for a Vanilla community to join, I recommend players to NOT JOIN Warpigs servers managed by @wispy gust.

I was in a discussion where a player was deliberately being dishonest and spreading misinformation about the 1.6 update (saying Privates couldn't build Command Tents, that AI was "stealing player XP"), and when I called him out using those exact words (and not name calling), I was told to stop by their Community Manager "Lord Calvin", who said "it was not our place" to call this player out.

When asked "if it was that player's place to spread fake information on the update", I received both a 24 hour Discord timeout and an in-game ban. After asking the reason and what rules were broken through Direct Messages, the same Community Manager went on to ban me from their Discord server and not reply to the DM'd questions.

This situation was a textbook example of power tripping and admin abuse. After asking for a friend to simply open a ticket on my behalf, it seems like the ban was extended to a perma-ban in-game.

Nothing about this series of events made any sense, though I believe the player called out might've been a close friend of the Community Manager given his course of action.

I will be making an Arma Reforger subreddit post to include screenshots of the message exchanges to fully disclose this incident. I hope the team over at Warpigs will put said Community Manager under scrutiny considering his unreasonable and impulsive behavior and given that he handles such a large community.

So my friends and I have been playing on the Combat Ops - Kolguyev Official servers. There is a task to destroy an objective: Generators, Fuel depot, etc. We cannot figure out how to destroy these objectives. Dozens of C4, many LAWs, and even VBIEDs all fail to destroy them. 40mm underbarrel doesn't scratch em. HOW DO YOU COMPLETE THIS TASK?!

As for why the server got taken down you'd have to ask the owners of the server, BI always issues warnings and explanations before outright banning a mod/server/user, they typically do not share their reasoning with anyone other than those in violation of EULA/TOS/whatever

We've managed to destroy the generators by placing so much explosives that the whole power plant building got flattened and the task was set as complete. But it doesn't seem right, cause the amount of explosived it took requires a whole vehicular raid to arsenal and filling vehicle with explosives.
But I could not finish the task for Fuel Depot destroying although we've managed to destroy all 4 fuel storages.
There's definitely something wrong with those missions and I feel like I'm missing something.

I agree that there must be something wrong with the mission. When it takes more than 20 C-4 bricks and 12 direct hits with HE mortars, there is definitely a balancing issue. Are we supposed to find and capture an enemy helicopter and do a rocket run on the objective? It seems a little unrealistic.

Squadleaders see their squadmates as hexagons and squadmates only see their squadleader. Its to make it so that ppl can regroup with their squadleaders.

Stability for Xbox has worsened, with vanilla being the most effected experience. Ideally it will run for about a half hour before it starts giving seriously long freezes. Usually will freeze 3 times before dashboard kicking you on the last freeze. If you know the server number you can usually join back and get character restored. Certain modded servers like Vietnam still have freezing issue, but it is a much shorter duration than on vanilla and more livable

I do that, too from time to time, but still light or with salvaged gear. Once harassed military base Levie for over an hour, waging a full on guerilla war on the Russian team. So much so that my team started joking that "this one guy is sitting in the enemy base". Russians started randomly firing into the woods with MG and grenades. Fun times. K:D was 51/1 in the end. 🤣

Not really. Usually I ignore these players since they can't really accomplish much and contribute very little. Same reason I always find more important stuff to do than going behind enemy lines.
If you play for the K/D ratio you contribute very little.

They just released an update that kind of put a bit of turbulence into the community. As a new player it may be a bit tricky to learn the systems because the veterans are still relearning the updated mode. I recommend community vanilla servers over official ones and wouldn't do modded until they get up and running again. Also try PVE servers if you want to learn game mechanics in a less stressful environment.

We placed a bunch of C4 on the fuel depots, but nothing happened, so we thought the mission is just bugged.

We also had the objective to destroy a Scout BTR-80, and it took like 8 AT-hits, a couple of C4 charges, a few mags of AP for the heavy machine guns and a dozen 40mm underbarrel grenades to destroy it.

It's so difficult to finish the objectives in this mission.

Nice update Bohemia, but still not playing until you fully fix the AI transport and allow building of a main FOB at ports. Without those, the game dies and is boring / mundane.

Love realism, but real life has enough boredom in it, doing the mundane for fun is not a thing for most people.

you can still build it like a few hundred meters away from it, maybe like 500m but they dont want supplies to be respawning with no effort. Thats fine if the lazy players leave anyways. If you want something expensive like a heli then you shouldnt be able to grab it immediatly, but would have to grab supplies for it. a few ppl doing supplies is enough. Everytime i play official, ppl do supplies so i dont think ppl care about that much.

Cool if your severs have had that, but it always seems to be the same people running supplies - and having had my turn, it gets boring fast.

I get the why, but at the end of the day there needs to be a mid point - have a base where you can build and get supplies, just make it spawn supplies slowly and make it so you have to ferry more there.

100% relying on logi runs has killed every game I and friends have played, both sides grind to a halt as there is not even enough to get a jeep once supply pers get bored.

It's not lazyness, it's boredom. Most people IRL have boring jobs, to unwind and have to do logistics just to keep the basics in a warfare game, is mundane, it is not fun.

There is no mid point with this version, if it doesn't change to meet halfway it will be a detriment to the game. This is nothing new in the gaming world.

I do love the game, so I do hope it finds a good middle ground.

Battlefield 6 is that way my friend lol. As far as the boredom of a "warfare game" its a milsim dude. Play modded servers with scenarios that allow your lil port bases or better yet find a server that turns off supplies.

Milsim yes, but at the end of the day, it is still a game. Hence the midpoint I mentioned, find that and GTG. If not, forcing logistics makes it a truck sim with occasional milsim.

If you love it, awesome and I hope you and others enjoy it I really do! I'm just highlighting as there are a large number of pers who are not exactly happy with it, lose them and the game runs the risk of slowly dying. Then nobody can play.

Noting a risk here, have a hardcore group who have loved Arma for years, but this has killed it for them. It's a reality of humans, not many want to always drive trucks around doing supplies, and in its current state if that doesn't happen the game dies.

Just the way of things man, if they stick with it sure, their choice, but feedback is feedback, up to the devs on how they take it.

You are correct, but player base has moved in my area to the new mode, you know - new and shiny. But it put people off pretty quick, and all game modes took a hit. Game fatigue is my thought, new update was cool and all but the logi gameplay made a lot go meh, at least for now.

I'd have implemented the new system, with the following:

Port base can be built on, and spawns supplies - Commander designates how much goes to air / ground vehicle / weapons / supply point (has to be moved to be used)

ALL other bases have to have supplies moved to them, no auto spawn outside of port (and a minimal trickle at starting FOB so you can still spawn in if it turns to custard).

In essence, you can still spawn in stuff under Commander direction, but if you want to be closer to the front you have to have supply runs.

Still has a bit of both, but with some control from Commander to stop heli spamming using all the supplies.

Because at this point, it is THE ONLY PLACE SUPPLIES SPAWN.

If the port is far from the front, as you'd expect, it still takes time for ye olde spam spawns to more up the front.

It also gives a bigger target for each side, the logistics node. But since there is the starting FOB, it's not the only target at least.

Just giving an opinion of a group, we are not going to all agree on how it is but with no feedback nothing changes, ever. I'd expect logi lovers to do the same if logi was fully abolished, works both ways,

I see what you're saying and in a perfect world sure but players are always going to take the path of least resistance. So if you end up with a base built up at the port with constant supply spawns then theyre going to just spawn there, get their gear and vehicles and leave from there. Abolishing the need for logi unless you have that one guy that really wants to build a base somewhere inland there would be no reason to move supplies from the ports. Just cap the inland points and spawn on the coast. Not trying to argue I just dont know if that middle ground that your describing is any better than the current state of conflict

If you are being kicked from the queue and receiving a "Connection Failed" error, this might be a DNS issue. A solution which has helped a few people is to change their router/PC DNS to 1.1.1.1 (Cloudflare).

I think it would be super cool if the devs added wind speed and direction to the commander combat support view, so they could tell people upon request. Others would like a HUD element.

But even without these, we can judge wind direction and strength from grass, trees, clouds, smoke, flares, etc.

Note that RPG-7 rounds fly into the wind, not with it.

It still doesn't make sense; ideally, the interface should display a wind direction indicator. Observing the plants is useless because the wind speed isn't constant. I've literally fired two projectiles in quick succession, and the wind direction has completely changed, making it impossible to hit the target. The commander issue is a completely different matter. Nobody respects what the commander says, unless you join a military simulation server. People go online to relax, not to take orders from someone who thinks they're a commander just because they've read Sun Tzu's "The Art of War." XD

All those I’ve learnt, though i don’t know specifics with fixing ai stuck at bases via alternating source bases for the ai teams.

In some cases, it almost seems like when you change the source base for 1 team, it will resolve pathfinding issues for another team.

Other cases just changing the bases until any type of activity is triggered in the logistics panel can fix them.

And by fix them, I mean when the ai are either stuck waiting at a source base, not gathering supplies, nor moving, despite nearby resupply missions. Or the same, but straight after you spawn them in and they enter the truck once assigned a source base.

We can even hear 1 of the 2 ai issue the command to move towards the source base, but the driver does not move.

every server is 3rd person by default, so you could try any official server. If you want modded, try avoiding certain words in title. e.g. if you see "realism" in the title, assume 1st person. Could also try different game modes; people tend to 1st person in Conflict bcs it's competitive, but in GM for example it doesn't really matter if you can see around corners.

keep an eye out for "1pp/3pp" those stand for first and third person perspective, most servers I find allow third person, but sometimes it isn't very clear if they do or don't from title alone

after 1000 hours in this game here are my thoughts on 1.6 an this game

before the 1.6 patch you had probably one of the greatest games ever made and this was mostly because of the community...but you still made the sandbox .

If your P0 at every standup is 'the endless disconnects' - and you have exhausted every option, then make the game physics on the trucks more forgiving. especially the sliding off the hill ******... heres why. if you are lucky to get three people to work together to bring an engineeering truck, supplies etc to build, dont make it nearly impossible due to the fact that a truck is agonizlingly slow, fips over a blad of grass and cant go upu a 4 degree incline. and if you are even lucky enough to get that far, you likely disconnect.

Ban teammates who take down radios.
for the love of god, make it so people have to rank to pull a heli or start one up. for example, you need to:
supply x bases with x supplies to be corporal
then you can be an engineer and you can build x structures at x bases
then you can be sgt and a squad leader.
from there you either defend or attack x objectives
then when you make captain you can pull a helo and fly it.

so again, knowing the average player disconnects often, lets make things a tad easier to get done. do the work to use the assets.

Seems like the server search is currently sometimes bugged. If you search (with or without filters) for a keyword the server displayed is not the server that is supposed to show up. From a little testing it seems that happens sporadic, others have reported the same issue also. It seems that there gets something messed up, if you switch from lets say "all" to "community" and back (not filter, in the index tab) the correct servers are displayed even you didn't change anything with the search.

Why is it still not possible to recruit ai units to your squad in multiplayer? When I host a server, I can add ai as game master and give them orders. But as soon as my friend joins, neither of us can order them anymore (I lose the ability to do so at all and for friend it says they're not the squad leader)

Last week friend could connect to my server no problem. Now no one can, get the usual code gourp=1 REPLICATION, reason=11
Nothing has been changed in my network configuration. Both have verified files. No mods installed by either. I even tried deleting the whole addons folder and verifying afterwards. Restarted pc and router many times. Checked router settings just in case and same port forwards still exist, this is insane. Why does it work sometimes and afterwards just not at all.
Not even full reinstall of game works.

If you have the same port forwards to an internal IP, but your computer that is hosting the game no longer has the same IP on your local network, that would cause this.

I prefer to have it dynamic for reasons, but I'm thinking about it. It's annoying to have to reconfigure the ports too, as I can't just quickly change the ip in my model. Need to delete the old rule and create a new one. But I'll think of something and now I'll know to be wary of this in the future

I mean my private ip got changed in my LAN, I don't need to assign my public ip anywhere when creating a server. That shouldn't change dynamically normally, but I know what caused it thinking back

Yes, but basically all routers assign a dynamic (internal) IP to all DHCP clients on the LAN, and do not guarantee the same IP if you disconnect/restart/etc.

But most routers have a setting to reserve specific IP addresses for specific MAC addresses, so you can make your computer have the same IP on your local network.

I think you keep misunderstanding me. The specific private IP that you are setting in your port forwards is likely dynamic and can change any time your computer connects to the router, powers off, restarts for an update, etc. This has nothing to do with public IPs or the in-game IP setting.

Your local network is mostly isolated from the public internet. It should be mostly invisible from the outside if your computer is configured to use a static IP on your local network.

Don't take my word for it as I do not have direct experience with this happening but in other cases I've seen, unless the other party is violating TOS/EULA or is breaking some other rule BI cannot take action based on this false representation alone. I haven't hosted locally before, so not sure which save button you are referring to. But in GM you can save for Single Player and play again later, which you should be able to host and follow the same process (not tested) or create a mission locally, transfer to a server to play with others. Saves having to learn the workbench to create a mission

Sorry ended up referring to 2 saves, The one you access via GM mode in game i understand saves the games current state, which you can load up in another session at a later stage. The other save button im reffering to is when you are setting up the multiplayer session before you actually host, there is as save button which as you say probably just to transfer the game options to a server.

That being said tho, if you find a stable server that doesn't change their mod list every 5 seconds, you'll enjoy it a lot more. Especially if they have staff that are always ready to step in to fix issues because there is nothing worse than playing on an unstable server, that has a terrible and larger mod list with players that aren't nice, and they don't have admins to moderate poor behaviour.

Hi gus, I come again, I have a new question. In the 48-player PvP mode on the official ARMA server, are there AI opponents? (Non-neutral players excluded). I mean, if I choose the US military and encounter the Soviet military, the behavior feels somewhat like AI. It's different when I play on the 128-player MODS server. The character behavior on the official server is very strange.

Line up a standing person between the curve and the bottom line, which ever one fits that person in that gap, will tell you the range they are at.

I haven't played them for very long, but so far Spearhead seems to have a lot of MBTs rolling around. On other servers I mainly see Bradley's/BRDMs and smaller vics, with the occasional tank

You cant host servers so you will have to rent a server if you want to play on a scenario multiplayer. If the mods are designed for the gamemode then yeah but otherwise you will get issues. They can be small or major issues

I’d suggest if you love the tactical gameplay and can work well with others then I’d recommend joining a milsim even if your brand new there’s a ton of diffrent units who are always looking to train up the next generation of milsim folks who wanna try it out. But if you don’t decide to do milsims just be aware that some mfs haven’t grown the fuck up so you will deal with some idiots here and there but conflicts aren’t horrible.
