If you join a squad, some of squads require learning lession and participation in traning.

So balance between easy & having fun might be hard to find.

Another topic is mods. When you are totally newbie player, you are looking for simple game without mods. Servers owned by squads might require you to load gigs of mods.

The problem you have basicaly means, the BE server (not the game one) cannot communicate properly with your game. It may be the issue of some NAT or firewall. It may happen that it could be some firewall that is out of your controll

There’s a thread in Steam on this. But try using a tool called Link Shell Extension. Unless you’d rather work at the command line, LSE can create a symlink to your “addons” folder on another drive or location. Great tool.

Anyone got tips on how to avoid getting ambushed while running supplies? I don’t really know what I can do to avoid it is all lol. Especially at night- I can’t drive without lights, I have to slow down to get around roadblocks etc, so it’s tough. Genuinely, nighttime is so pitch black it’s insane lol

Nighttime especially is a nightmare for me. Can’t run supplies, because my get ambushed. Can’t fight, because I can’t see literally anything…

Avoid main roads. There are usually alternative paths to your objective if you use dirt roads, or cut through fields or forests. Once you rank up, using a helicopter to run supplies helps avoid chokepoints on roads and most enemy ground troops.

Learn where supplies are stored to avoid driving to the obvious ones. There are hidden caches around the islands that are often unmarked and undefended. Once you learn where they are, supply deliveries speed up significantly. Each town has some hidden supply caches, some in the hundreds, some in the thousands. For example the flat area above Military Base Levie, the harbor in Meaux, the harbor next to the Military Hospital, the industrial compound in Montignac, some garages, barns, the underground depots on the runway on Arland, the crates west of the Military Training Area on Arland, etc.

Well, I’ll have to see about finding a map of those hidden ones or something then. I tried using a helicopter, but I have no idea how I can do that without crashing, especially as the soviets. And the roads thing, that I can do for sure, though it might take me a little longer since navigation is tough at the moment lol.

You'll learn the routes and hidden paths once you run deliveries often enough. The islands are fairly big so the chances of running into an ambush on those are much lower therefore it's safer to have lights on. And like I've said, every town has some hidden caches so you don't always need to drive far or even out of town to get enough supplies for at least the most important compositions like the antenna and barracks.

Make sure you play on public/stable version. Not Experimental. And make sure you update your game. I'm not sure if it is possible to skip an update when launching game on steam, but if its possible then that might be the problem

i value oldschool arma maps the most. Cherno being a good example of how treelines, towns, and roads should operate within an arma map. aswell as all the vanilla maps 😛 they have a good balance of forestry with open land, whereas a lot of modded maps are either too convoluted with forestry or are too open with land.

Unless DLSS changes, then likely never in Reforger. It has already been stated by one of the developers that it is not compatible with the way they render, which would mean BI would probably have to make significant changes in order for it to work.

DLSS would introduce some overhead and massive development to make it work at the current state (and only works for NVIDIA Hardware, which is mostly PC), we currently prefer putting this time in other optimizations than just slapping DLSS while hoping it will help for optimization. This is not just a silver bullet that will help for everything, so I would not say never, but not in near future

hey guys just wanted to report some of my observations from the last week of playing. There are new glitches or abuses that allow the enemy team to trasmit on your radio. Just a few min ago (official server) "Garfield" and "Justin X" were spamming porn obsenities from an opposite team.

Also throught the week I noticed players who were using some kind of ESP hack where they could target you through walls/terrain (aka wallhacking). I'm not sure if the latest update exposed the game to new hacks but this is getting out of control. Also the hack where a player is able to teleport through the ground and bayonett you point blank is still around. If anyone has any input on this please let me know. I've been with this game forever and these hackers/trolls are making it unplayable. I might have to take a break from it until the devs can do something about this.

Worst of all, the vote kick command is still abused. As soon as I call out a griefer, TK or troll they start abusing the vote kick command and get anyone who confronts them kicked. Good players who run supplies and work hard end up getting kicked. This is no way to play a game. Thanks.

The rejoin window is 60 seconds by default, lots of community servers increase it. The queue exists so you don't have to spam click to join. Yeah it takes longer but its also more "fair", i don't play WCS anymore due to the constant 50 person queue but i dont think its necessarily a bad system overall

Do the training scenario to get introduced to the basics. It’s well worth doing.

Then jump into a populated server and just play. You will feel a little overwhelmed at first when trying to navigate and figure out where you are on the map but this will improve in time so don’t sweat.

Learn to play with the default loadouts and avoid the arsenal for now (your team mates will appreciate you not draining supplies at the arsenal).

Just jump into and follow others around, jump in cars with strangers and join them in whatever they are doing and you will learn a bit.

If you ever get truly lost, listen for gunfire and go in that direction or try wander around to find a town and hope there is a vehicle you can steal.

Bushes are your friend to hide and break line of sight, avoid moving in the open on foot and shooting while standing or low in stamina is very inaccurate so crouch before you shoot and let your stamina recover before engaging a target

It is your approach method that is the cause. We can easily move in on a heavily populated base, even so close that you could melee one from behind, which I have done a few times. Slow movement + crouch + bushes.

Almost everything brother. U cannot play this game now on Xbox. Usually in all my games I play around around 53 to 64 ping. This game servers gives me minimum 52 and the next second gives me 117 and sometimes 270. It’s broken. There’s no stability. I think the game is not ready for consoles

How long have you played Squad? And have you played Arma before?

I you played squad before the whole shindiggery updates with the stupid recoil additions that made guns un-usable, and if you've played Arma before then yes, it'll be up your street.

It's more "Casual" than squad, in some ways. Just as tactical, and team based (If the team is doing things that need doing, similarly to squad)

It boils down to... You don't have to work with anyone, or you can work with people if you want. I often just roll Logistics, because I enjoy base building and running supplies. and defending my creations 🤔

I guess, Reforger is Sandbox, and Squad is very logical, and has a certain way to play the game.

As much as I enjoy Drewski's recent game footage, he doesn't do the game justice. There's a lot more in Reforger that you can do, other than trying to be the main character all the time, and editing out all the times you get fucked up 🤣 Because trust me, the getting fucked up happens spontaneously, without edits.

I’m new, so I don’t have any tips, but this has been my experience as well. The lowest sever ping in the filter will show 280 lol, and that’s in my region. Tho when I join it. The ping ends up being like 70-80. Maybe it’s just a bug or something.

I'd suggest listening to others (they might have been trying to tell you) and apologizing if you make mistakes like this. Even veterans make mistakes, but if you let them know it was an accident, you are less likely to be kicked.

And try to learn the factions of vehicles and clothing/armor, so you are less likely to team kill. Then, try to identify targets before firing.

Monitors can vary significantly. I do not have any settings changed on mine and I can see. Yes it is dark and sometimes I have to turn on a light, especially if I go into a house, but otherwise I find dark to be a huge advantage over AI.

The client doesn't affect the ability to rent a server. @vagrant heart you need to rent a server from a provider using your pc/laptop/phone, then configure it from that device. Once its up and running PS5 can use it as long as it is unmodded. Avoid Nitrado like the plague, GTX and GPortal are good providers but I use bacon and his service is fantastic

Interesting. I got bodied by an AI because I simply could not see him lol. With my oled, my blacks are extremely dark. Like impossible to even see your gun. Only I could see was the sky, and the tall trees when looking at the sky lol

Funnily enough on my OLED monitor I always keep hdr on and this game is SUPER bright at night due to that(hdr), I can see everything clear as day without having touched gamma even once. Good to keep in mind before getting mad at people for gamma"cheating", some will see as if gamma"cheating" even on default settings due to their monitor

The server can be administered from your PS5 while in game by using commands in global chat (like banning or kicking players, or restarting the scenario) or can be administered via RCON

@crisp forge that is only allowed in the community channels mentioned above for server advertising (and as you can read in our #rules ), you could also setup a (singular) event in #multiplayer_events for a big test, see the channel pinned messages for the required template in that channel, or ask people who want to play a round of conflict in the looking for game channels, and in those channels server details are not allowed in channel, so you need to invite them by DM contact for server details. All these answers would have been in the channel pinned messages of this channel.

Not I’m on atm, but just join a random official server and let your team know you’re be and ask if someone can show you the ropes, usually you can find someone to help you out, or just spawn at a base with some people and shadow them

when setting up your servers scenario you could edit the map briefing. The journal in the top left when you open the map and put some information there.
Or do a UI popup similar to the endgamescreen or squad menu that is fired OnPlayerConnected/Registered

This sounds like what @agile rivet stated as hairpinning. Outside clients can join but the client running on same computer as the host cannot. Don't ask me what it is exactly. I would assume it has something to do with data coming back.. like in a hairpin turn perhaps, rather than going where it should. I would also assume it has to do with the host and client having the same internal IP address.

Can someone explain to me what the secret sauce on Reforger servers is that makes sitting in 50+ person ques worth it to people?

I'm part of staff for a Squad based community and we recently opened up a Reforger server which has sat empty, and that's not really an issue, its brand new I don't expect performance out the gate. But when we did that I picked up the game and began to play. Its remarkable to me how alien the browser looks compared to Squad

I can see part of the issue is the browser doesn't make it easy to sort via server size, so finding and lining up all 128 player servers is challenging

Even so I can't imagine sitting in position 55 or 60 or even higher would be worth it

Just IMO its people joining specific servers for the community, not the mods/setup. Reforger can be infuriating to play when your team sucks. Most people want to play somewhere they can be at least somewhat sure that their teammates will take the match/game semi-seriously

Its also part of the reason public servers have very small queues, which are usually just friends waiting in line to join their buddies. You know youre getting thrown in with randoms on official so it doesnt matter as much which server you join

It's not a channel, you just go into the appropriate community channel, e.g. #communities_arma3 and in there you type /_community (without the underscore, so / and after that directly the word community). This will bring up a message that's just for you and with that you can define your community
