as an xbox player this is my biggest worry with reforger, it happened with insurgency and that games playerbase is mostly garbage now. just because CoD/etc people like that style of gameplay doesnt mean every FPS should cater to that crowd

Somehow they messer up the radial wheel when they fixed it, if you hold X to open it you can only move it with your right thumb stick (which is stupid) and you gotta press RTS to exit it and now after a little while it just straight up doesn’t show up but you can still select stuff
Actually DayZ has become more hardcore in certain ways. To reload a magazine, you have to take that magazine into your hand, then you need to select the appropriate bullets, then you need to hold key while your character inserts rounds one-by-one. That is a (relatively... been almost decade since alpha release) new mechanic. And that is hardcore... even in Tarkov it's easier and faster to refill a mag.
But on the other hand, another "new" mechanic is that a 5.56 bolt action sniper rifle shoots its bullets over 800 feet per second faster than a 5.56 assault rifle, despite the bolt action having a shorter barrel... that's as "arcade" as it gets!
So there always seemed to be a general lack of direction with DayZ development. It's not consistent. But it's not "dumbed down" because of consoles... it is pretty janky and lots of things are unnecessarily complicated.
I'm not really speaking of the complex features, those are really nice. I just think it's pretty easy to survive. Especially the gunplay is pretty borked with how hipfiring is 100% accurate and the gun is glued to your screen (which is actually the same with Reforger..) The gunplay is so easy and predictable that it requires almost no skill. Most of the trouble you get into is from people snap-aiming you from 200m away with hipfire, there isn't much PVE threats anymore. I suppose if I say it like this it doesn't fit too well into the original convo anymore.. Anyway wrong chat for this. 😅

I could have sworn that there were accusations of this before it came to console... but that's because there was always a certain tension when it came to the design for the survival 'versus' combat

If you play on some lame servers where there is a crosshair on the screen (or someone has a crosshair on the monitor), then yes, you can probably kill someone at 200m by shooting from the side, otherwise it's nonsense. As for the difficulty of the game, there are servers like Chernarus has fallen where nothing is forgiven and it has a completely different atmosphere, roughly the one Dean Hall intended.
I would say that both in DayZ and especially in Reforger the default zoom is too large. In Reforger, you zoom in about 2x with your eye, so it's no problem to spot someone even hundreds of meters away. That's a bit of bullshit. In the current DayZ, it is a problem to actually kill someone if they are wearing a ballistic vest, 90% of the time they will just fall unconscious. In Reforger, you can at least shoot him with a pistol.
The guns shoot perfectly into the center of the screen, pretty easy to memorize. Same with Reforger.
It's not perfect, there is weapon sway? I'd really like to see you kill someone at 200m via hipfire.

How did you come up with this estimate? To have it as large as RL 2x magnification you would need to watch a 22 inch screen from less than 30 centimeters away. That is unhealthy as far as I am concerned
Unless I am not understanding what you mean by this? The standard 1st person FOV is something like 0.3-0.4x magnification, focus is 1x

That's true, but it is actually other way around - focus is the reference magnification, the objects are half of their actual size when you don't focus.

Focus from my understanding is that it represent 1:1 to real life. like if you see a man standing 100m away IRL you can see the same size on screen
so you can guesstimate the range

No you are misunderstanding. Without focus/zoom, IRL you are actually zoom out. (you dont do that IRL too right?) So to represent 1:1 to real life the game add the focus/zoom

The point of focus is to give you ability to choose between realistic perception of distant objects if you notice something important, and wider FOV to just know your surroundings

Under very specific conditions, the target doesn't move, you don't move, you haven't run before. This isn't really much of a PvP situation. In both DayZ and Reforger, you can effectively kill players via hipfire in close combat. If you're really good, sometimes you'll kill someone in DayZ from tens of meters even if the target is moving. But that's more of a coincidence.
By the way, DayZ probably has a very large hitbox compensation if you shoot at a long distance.
Now, does the AI back to execution mode? I was unconscious and the AI decide to execute me.
I just hope we see some fantastic NPCs in reforger. Pathing and vehicles operation. Expanded tactics. And such. Like I want to feel like these are more human and believable. Every arma they get slightly better.
The main thing I'm trying to say though is that the guns feel very glued to your screen. In Arma 2 and older versions of DayZ they had gun inertia, now Reforger and newer DayZ have none. It was maybe a bit intense back then, but right now it feels really static to me. If you aim somewhere, you aim there instantly. You can do a 360 spin and still aim at your target in the blink of an eye. But maybe a trained soldier can actually do that, I'm not an expert on this. 🥴
I think even Arma 3 had it in a diminished form, but I didn't play it much.
Even with hipfire you can do this, the gun stays exactly where it is, even if you don't have your cheek rested on the stock.

After seeing the differences PC and Xbox personally.. not a fan of the radial wheel for radios.
First, as mentioned, it's not "zoom" really.
"Zoomed in" is actually the realistic view, as if your monitor was a window into the game world, and "zoomed out" is the unrealistic and distorted view which allows you to play the game comfortably.
But second, you need to go outside with your cell phone, find a viewpoint where you can see some hundreds of meters, preferably with people or vehicles.
Then load Google Maps app and use the measuring tool to measure the distances of the things you are looking at.
Then note what you see, come back to Reforger and compare...
A while back I was on a mountain looking at some cattle that were eating in a field... they turned out to be 1700-1800 metres distant. Can you see a cow at 1800 m in Reforger? Idk.

Actually they are both distorted zoomed in is 2x what it should be and normal is .5x

Not for me. It's much too small. And even the zoomed view was too small IMO when I tested months ago (changed since?)
The number depends on your hardware and viewing distance.
So in this case they must choose a value which corresponds to an average player's hardware and viewing distance.
You can mathematically calculate it, which is commonly done for simracing titles like iRacing or Assetto Corsa, as the recommended FOV is the "real" FOV. For some people setup and types of racing the "window into the game world" is too small to be playable and they must increase it, ARMA solves that by letting you switch.
There's also the issue of resolution, which is too little in any case.
There absolutely needs to be a system in place for handling griefers. I just spend 2 hours on an official conflict server only to have a player join US and delete all structures from our points. Everyone except 2 guys on our team voted to kick/ban heavily but since those 2 didnt vote he stayed in and spent his time shooting tires out while players tried to leave MOB. Reforger needs a voting system a la HLL where players are notified and can one click vote yes/no because most people ive talked to dont know how to vote in the player menu. This type of trolling is essentially unstoppable at the moment since every time there's a successful ban they can rejoin under a smurf account using the free trial
There should be:
- A voteban system
- Automatic kick for 30 minutes if you TK 3+ players, if this happens more than 3 times in a 3/4 hour window it should be a ban for a month/perm.
- A record of who deleted what, and where, for adminstrators
Be harsh with griefers, we're not living in the early 2000's, technology exists to hold them accountable.

Trials players (those who havent paid for the game yet) should have the ability to delete structures and place more than 1 mine disabled. once you buy the game you can access those functions but i feel like that could go a long way to dealing with smurf accounts
Yep there group is headed by a guy named “vladdy daddy” he’s a sore excuse for a skin bag, he has told people in the past that “the pbs community has wrong him and he has made it his mission with his 20+ alt accounts and his group of degenerates to harass pbs and other large arma severs
Yep this uk based individual has been a persistent problem on PBS for months, racist remarks, threats of rape etc and other derogatory comments, plenty of documented evidence of him in action on PBS, not to mention the grief he caused with his grenade teamkill and respawn trick, another issue that is worsened by the fact players with multiple aliases on Xbox are sidestepping bans too easily.
Seems like a good idea to limit the capabilities of those using the trial version
Focus FOV was changed since in 0.9.9 as described in devreport above, you may want to check it.
Such a note. In the game, you can most likely come to the wrong conclusions. I recently watched a BI video on how Everon was made for Reforger, some objects are disproportionate like the trees to create an optical illusion that the landscape is more vast and the distances are greater (the trees are smaller than in reality).
Trees are relatively important for distance estimation in temperate landscapes (trees are everywhere, people are not). When I have a "survival" book in my hand, there is usually something like this

give friendly mines on screen markers similar to nametags then lol (I don't want to be banned for 24 hours for placing a couple mines and then some xbox player on 720p walmart screen who can't see shit comes in like a wrecking ball)
They have literal mine markers in-game. I use them all the time. I place markers in the direction of friendlies.
Usually place the marker so it's visible to friendly MSR but hidden to enemies.
imo markers are just silent a solution to 'demining actions', which would normally take place with bullets
Works pretty well. Not a single casualty to friendlies yet.
I monitor my minefields very well though.. or place them where the chance of friendlies hitting them is none.
Then you have not placed much, marker or not it's usually a 30% chance they see it and shit half the time they blow up the mines I grabbed from an enemy checkpoint. You expect them to remember what our sides mine markers look like when nobody uses them either lol

Idk what to really say about the fov topic. I change it based on mouse I'm using, and system, Xbox,PC, GeForce ect.
Also Focus should be split in two imop, I use hold RMB to aim and focus as MMB, it works when I dont aim down but it get tricky when I do. So I would love to be able to change Focus while aiming to lets say RMB + Shift or something similar to PUBG if anyone played. Regular Focus MMB and Aim Focus RMB+Shift...

the binocular mask (the reticle of the binoculars.) are now permanently on my screen. be it in first person aiming or not, in 3rd person of not.. wtf
it also overlays over the binoculars, so i see the reticle twice, slightly offset

I just crank up my headphone volume to maximum... boy I think I miss a lot of details... like the wind rustling the leaves... foot steps... But when the gun sounds was ear splitting... So can we like separate environment sounds from gun/explosion sounds in the audio settings? I tried setting the effect volume to 0 and I lost all the sounds, except UI stuffs

Play with your dynamic range settings, the lower the dynamic range the louder more subtle sounds will be as it normalises the levels of all sounds, it doesn’t really make the overall volume louder but you will notice straight away quieter sounds like footsteps and wind etc are raised substantially. Higher dynamic range will mean those sounds are a lot quieter compared to explosions and gunfire etc. Try the slider all the way to the left then reduce your overall master volume and it should give the result you are after.
Basically lowest dynamic range is Reforgers war tapes setting

Thats it, it’s basically like applying audio compression to the game, higher settings will sound more wider and atmospheric at higher volumes but lower settings will boost everything and sound more impactful at lower volumes.

n current state MHQ is way too powerful. Instead of MHQ we should have relay station, that provides alternative connection to the points and doesn't act as a spawn point.
Another thing witch is currently too powerful, is structure deleting. You shouldn't be able to delete structures so fast or shouldn't be able to delete at all.
It is stupid that you are able to delete somebodies hours of work within few seconds and setting game back to zero.
Solution for this problem could be removing structure deleting option - what is built is built and instead make it possible to move structures around inside building circle, so if somebody puts armory in a bad location, you can move it to a better one etc.
In the future maybe make structures destroyable by planting explosion charges on it.
It would also solve current trolling issue, where they delete your own base structures and thus destroying the game.
Why has the autoreload time for Combat Ops be changed from 20s to 300s? Seems a bit excessive...

I haven't really played for the last 2 weeks and after today's 2 hours I have some sad conclusions. Nothing changed. Same not working vote-kick, same problems with players tweaking their graphics to cheat, same problems with high ping players, griefers as always. This game is not going the right direction.

When a4 comes people will start properly moderating servers, setting whitelists, passwords, only pc servers. issue is since xbox doesnt have anything like this they are majority but for a4 i recon pc gonna be majority
I had a peculiar issue on one of the DayZ servers 2 weeks ago. There was a childish guy using heavy racial slurs. I tried to reason with him in a very civic manner and after couple of days I was banned from that server for using, surprise, surprise - racial slurs. The admin of the server sent me some screns connecting my player ID to these messages. So there's another spoiled thing on top of that.
As fot the game itself. Today I was killed 3 times by the players I could not see because of the vegetation (I play on ultra). They saw me, as if I was completely exposed, despite me being in some forest among the rocks. Distance was about 100-120 meters. So an obvious difference between graphic settings.
The next thing is something that I understand is closest to desync from Arma. I always play on servers where my ping is lower than 50 ms. And I experience quite often being killed by the opposite, usually, russian, soldier whom I shot couple of times, but it would not affect him.

I'm patient, but it's a bit beyond what I expect form the game. All the changes are taking too much time and many issues that are really important are not addressed.
I know, but it's not the point. There should be server-wise setting for certain graphics level. That would solve some of the problems.
And I really don't care about players with slower rigs. Some bare minimum should be set. Both for internet connection and graphics. If someone wants to play with really low settings, they should start their own server.
I played Arma long enough to be tired of shitty graphics.
And even there were players tweaking their settings below any reasonable minimum. Just to "win".
And on top of that, there's a voting problem. I get vote pop-up messages constantly ( BTW default key bindings are different than in that messages and keys suggested in those messages don't work), I vote and it does nothing

Let me use a saved loadotu in different servers!! Why can't I just save it once and have it in every match!? That shouldn't be that hard to implement... I mean, common that should be a standard feature...
saving loadouts should not be a thing at all, whats the point of building armory then? If all you need is one armory at main base and thats it. Radio backpacks were always strong, but on top of that people are now spawning with grenade launchers, RPGs, snipers on them.
It'll be changed in the future where equipping your saved loadouts takes supplies from a base according to what you have on you
To rearm. If I'm defending s point that has an armory I'd rather just have the ability to requip on the spot then be forced spawn at main base or just commit suicide and use up supplies from respawn

Why not? I can spawn with my saved loadout but I still have to be more conservative with my ammo because i have no ability to refill on ammo unless iscavange the corpse of an unfortunate ally

Since the health update introduced body armor can't rely on using a handgun as a backup if I run out of ammo as a primary because ( depending on armor type) armor either stops pistol rounds outright or at very least radically reduces thier damage to the point of making it near useless, thus further putting more pressure on having more spare ammo for your primary weapon
Where's before at close quarters I could whip out a pistol and dump 4-5 rounds into torso and actually kill someone at close range . Now i csn dump an entire 15 round m9 mag and all that that does is tickle them
Spawning on radios with a loadout is pretty sad for multiple reasons. Imagine the enemy is suppressing you with a BTR and all you have to do is spawn three dudes with some laws on their back. The urgency and tension is completely taken out of it. Nobody has to drive back to base to get firepower or call in reinforcements.
In a game where the smallest thing can make the biggest difference, it is pretty significant. Whoever came to stop the BTR could've been ambushed on the way there, or drove over a mine. But they spawned there, with no hurdle whatsoever
Seems like a forced balancing measure because btr is the apex armored vehicle in reforger. But in arma 4 as a complete product will be expected to have proper combined arms environment. Over there a btr aught to be expected to operate aside ifv like a bmp1 or bmp2 and have support from main battle tanks like t72 etc
A main battle tanks front armor. Would only be tickled by a law or rpg
For targets like those you would either larger guided anti tank emplacement , other vehicles with agtms , or a Main battle tank with cannon ( and good enough apfsds ammo) to kill them frontally
It's still completely imbalanced. Arma doesn't gift you anything, you have to do it yourself and that little bit of superiority you feel is taken away from some radio operator spawning in AT support in the blink of an eye. It's a pretty frustrating feeling to lose just because of that.
It's the only way to simulate feeling as if you have a larger battle at hand
If every US soldier that was carrying an M16 carried a LAW like they're supposed to, then BTRs wouldn't be a threat even WITHOUT the radio bags and saved loadouts

Either way the BTRs don't survive for long. I gotta say I don't feel very superior in a BTR, being on foot usually works out better. It always goes terribly wrong when I'm part of a crew. But people aren't using it right anyway. 🥴

Exposing your engine to the enemy is also a great idea I heard. 
It's also always fun when your driver demands you to shoot the enemy while displaying the most erratic driving possible.
unfortunaate you cant have it both ways. erratic driving makes it harder for you to get targeted but you screw over your gunner. Staying in place allows for stable gunning but allows you to be more easily targeted
A Stabilized gun would have solved that, making it feasible to move and shoot at the same time. Shame a btr doesnt have that. But a LAV will ( or at least aught to)
i feel more secure as a gunner. relative to a humvee at least i cant be sniped from my turret by even a lowly infantryman without any anti tank weaponry
or even more overall. since the m1025 isn't even fully bulletproof against intermediate rounds, the doors and thier glass are penetrable by 556 and 545
Atleast the M2 sights are flipped down now, so you can actually see what you're shooting at. Maybe people will last like 2 seconds longer in their gun and run attempt now.

Even though the humvee and jeep should still get an M60 variant. Shooting people with the 50. is just silly, it's obviously meant to counter the BTR just like it's big cannon is meant to counter the humvee.

The BTR can be very effective. Throw a radio guy in it, become a mobile HQ that Moves.
So when it comes to radio spawning I have a couple ideas for balancing until loadout cost is implemented.
A. limit radio spawns to 30s per person, with a queue? So if 2 people are ahead of you then you have to wait til they spawn(30 seconds for the first guy then next guy spawns, 30 seconds after that next one spawns and so forth so if 10 people are planning on spawning on radio you have to wait a long ass time if you want to be the 11th)
B. Also would it be possible to add specific items to the loadout blacklist like radio backpacks are? I imagine it would be more balanced if people just could not save launchers, backpacks, or chest rigs to their loadout (also a bigger warning wouldn't be too bad if anyone takes initiative on this idea, some people don't see the 'invalid item, loadout not saved' notification; and yes if this blacklist option in the tools already exists I have not looked in a while so I would not have seen)

A) part is a good idea, radios need a nerf. Also why not make them destroyable, if you kill a radio guy then you can shoot the radio to prevent future use and make it so that you have to be in a certain signal range to allow spawning on it. Because one of the op strats is to put a radio guy in the enemy supply depo... But yeah im completely against spawning with loadouts on radios, it makes it a bit more balancing...
Bi, we love you game. Even if the server crashes often and it can be a pain in the ass sometimes, we have great games and the times that are actually fun are worth the $30. To improve this game and make it better in my eyes.
I think a great suggestion that I have seen before would be for each in-game squad the squad leader would be able to have a radio, backpack, and only the squad members would be able to spawn on them. Adds more team play.
As well as dragging downed friendly’s and enemies for the funny’s.
And I also think that a more in depth building system would be nice. I’m not sure how it would work, but if we were able to make at least a little bit of earth cover. By E-tools and putting dirt in front of us being a combat engineer would be more possible because in the current game if you want to fortify a position you have to either spend 15 minutes going around capturing bases and then tuning logi or spending over half an hour running logi depending on where you’re running it to.
I also think having more uniform options like rolled sleeves would be nice. They are already in the game files. It only needs to be fixed which shouldn’t take a long time. And would be a great upgrade. (Also add medic patches for helmets)
and I think having next to the persons name like how when they are downs, and they have the ECG symbol we should have one for medic, which would just be a cross a bullet for a rifleman, a bandolier for machine gunner, a gear for a engineer/tanker etc to add team play.
Please use this feedback to make your game more enjoyable than it is.

just to be picky i would like to point out the texturing error on the receiver to buttstock connection on the ak-74, also when are helmet damage decals going to become invisible to player camera ? lastly when switching back and fourth from binoculars and other items while crawling the charachter sometimes holds them incorrectly, AND being unable to change frequencies when holding CTRL, the bino build bug is super annoying as well
You should also 100% not be able to spawn on radio guy with full saved load out, only from main base and also if you can access an armoury and select saved load out
Add the ability to turn off in game text chat or conceal it. Lots of hateful shit said there on occasion and it could result in content creators of your barely active game getting banned and never allowed to make unpaid content and advertising of your game. Not to mention we literally put so much time into trying to build a community and fan base and it can all be taken away because there’s no way to control what’s said in the game text chat or conceal it

Personal white/black list would be nice. So I could turn off any sort of communication from certain players. That includes voice and chat messages. Not to mention that chat phrase/word filter would be another welcomed feature.

If you stream on Console without having a external device to send it to somewhere, you will not be able to hear voices you will only be able to hear your own voice if you are in a party chat I believe
Well the issue I spoke about was in game text chat so that wouldn’t matter, but I typically stream with game chat on and just change radio channels when I want silence or when someone says something out of pocket. Of course being in party chat would take you out of gamechat
Also you can still hear gamechat while in party chat in this game

can we fix the driving in this game, its so much worse than it was before with falling through the ground and dying when exiting the drivers seat. id take that back over this server side driving
Client side driving lead to issues like crashing and disconnecting cause your client couldn't give the server data fast enough
If you have had ping the vehicles will feel choppy cause the server is doing the same but backwards, although since it's the server running them, it has little to no actual desync (if it senses desync it'll snap you back and be done with it, without crashing now)
Client side authority also caused vehicles to fall through the map when a new driver got into them, or to clip through the floor when a driver got out, and get stuck in objects like grass, sidewalks, and even air
theres major desync with driving now
At least you won't lose your vehicle to falling under the earth

The vehicles defo still exhibit some funky behaviour, even at low ping. I usually get around 15 ping on PBS Conflict server and often vehicles will snap underground when entering and then the entire front end will lift into the air.
To give credit where it's due the actual physics of the vehicles and they way they handle is great though, you can really feel the weight of them when driving and the drifting characteristics are spot on, really a big step forward for the franchise.
My feedback to Bi, is create a free firezone maybe like 75m from the MOB so it would stop teamkills and spawn camping.
I heard a US jeep that seemed to be bugged out as it's engine was going full RPMs, and as soon as I got closed to it my game crashed. Could have been unrelated, but worth a mention maybe. 
Like in antistasi you cant throw grenades or set explosives 75m from hq.
plz fix this this is a regular problem and should not have made it past experimental
while this is not realistic i think it is the best solution we have, shame the game has come to this
Yesterday we were testing combat ops with two zeuses, with a radio channel dedicated for zeus comms, and noticed two issues:
- In GM view, there is no UI element for the active radio channel/freq
- After taking control of AI and returning to GM, the radio channel seemed to reset to the primary channel, rather than to the one that was active before playing as the AI character
These two combined led to top secret zeus plans being leaked to the player channel for a couple of times
I have a better solution that will dissuade it over time and allow for MOB assaults:
1 TK - you get a on screen warning
2 TK - your side gets a warning about the user in question
3 TK - you get kicked from the server for 30 minutes and players are automatically asked whether to vote ban
the tk count would reset every mission
I know its not an immediate safety zone but I think there are other more subtle ways that TKing for the meme can be dealt with

I think 9mm is in a good state, not sure about exact specs of in game armour IRL but I think stoping many 9mm bullets It's not unreasonable. It should stay the way it is, but there should be added some sort of "shock" effect when getting hit. To be honest I was hoping that armour would have durability, but it is what it is...

so this is probably heresey, given armas past, but I can't help but want two map modes. The standard, full feature one we have now, and like a "handheld" mode, where it snaps up in a window on the right or left of the screen so you can see your environment while looking at the map. You wouldn't be able to interact (mark, check dynamic values of points, etc) with the map in this mode and the handheld version could be zoom restricted--as in it doesn't let you zoom out as much as the standard one to simulate it being a folded map in your hand (was going to suggest it be limited to general area you are in, but that might counter the design direction to not give the player any real gps like location aids). That said the map does tell you a general region, so perhaps the folded version could just display the general region grids that you're in. ANYWAY the desire here is for something that you can have up while moving or driving so you can see landmarks somewhat while also comparing the map. It's super disorienting trying to navigate players in vehicles in full screen map mode, and it seems like half the time, depending on what seat you're in, you just can't engage the map at all. IRL if you were navigating a driver in the 1980s from the passenger seat, you could have the map on your lap while also checking your surroundings, so wouldn't be destroying the landnav immersion really. Thinking a bit of the functionality like they have it in squad.

it's 3 torso shots before the body armor update came out, no idea about now
Almost no damage
They get like minor non bleed damage from a few rounds
when health update originally hit M9 used to do no damage to the front of pasgt vest. now it does minor damage but it takes about 12-14 rounds ( nearly an entire mag) to incapacitate someone with PASGT vest
To me accumulation of minor ( non bleeding ) wound damage can be thought of the quilvant of blunt force of a non penetrating bullet impact
the 9x18 does less damage then 9x19 nato ( not surprising) . i dumped 2 mags ( 8 rounds each) into center of pasgt vest. after 1st mag dump, minor injurt, after 2nd mag dump moderate injury. no incapacitation
in any case the TLDR is what i said earlier. current Pistols are basically useless against anyone wearing a vest ( not a complaint but expected reality i guess).
^ and il mention US pasgt helmet atm is immune from 9mm. not even "minor" damage from a concussive effect. I can just keep blasting into the helmet.
Next Major update gonna have supply rework and vehicle impact damage (if you crash your car, you can lose engine etc.), mby electricity and mby new scope and silencer. Thats my guess

That we need to have the ability to make our own objectives ie Fobs and Cops that the enemies have to first recon, then attack. If the enemies know where you are and mortars get added into the game, they will just pound your location for two hours and you won’t be able to play the game.
You can’t move any of the objectives in the current state of the game you can set up a “cop” by using a mobile HQ but you can’t run logic to it and make actual buildings

PASGT vest will stop 9mm FMJ in real life, Googling suggests it is effectively somewhere around Level II/IIA (in Reforger it is set to Level III though 🤔)
I don't know how a 9mm is expected to effectively defeat enemies when their armour stops 9mm... you just have to try to shoot their heads, arms, or legs and not their armoured torso.
And the "concussive" damage will not necessarily be much either. A 9mm FMJ has about the same momentum as a baseball thrown by a 10-year-old Little League pitcher... what is the backface deformation of a PASGT vest?
However there might be some extra effect from being hit... aim punch? blur?
well lvl 2 is still stopping 9mm IRL, but yeah some extra effect for being hit would be nice. also some voice acting for being hurt would be nice addition

It's possible. But there are a lot of "Bubba" tests on YouTube and elsewhere and no one seems to follows the correct procedures for testing armour vests. For example, they throw a vest over a cardboard box, or a steel silhouette, or pay it against a tree, and dump some rounds into it... not correct. You cant tell the NIJ level from these backyard tests.
You are supposed to follow all their procedures but the main one missing is having a backing of modelling clay at least 4 inches thick, which is conformed to the armour, and which is contained in a rigid frame... this will make a big difference in results.
Apart from the paper I cited earlier the best and most scientific test I see online is from Brassfetcher on YouTube.
If it didn't penetrate. It didn't penetrate. What you cant measure from these informal "bubba" tests is blackface deformation.
But as we discussed you cant really simulate such a non penetrating injury beyond a "non bleed minor iniury" with how the health system works.
I mean not just measuring the backface, also that the vest is supposed to have a solid block of clay behind to simulate a torso. If someone just laid a vest against a tree, or draped it over a box, etc, like 95% of these backyard tests, it has more room to easily flex, fold and move around without the immediate resistance of the torso simulating clay block, and this may increase the apparent ballistic resistance.
Also note the rigid frame in which said clay is mounted...
If you want to nickpick about that I can also point out kevlar degrades over time. Decades old armor can't be expected to have the same effectiveness as a new production. I've read there is official accepted shelf life of 5 years for soft armor. Can you find a former us military pasgt vest that is within 5 years of production? I think not, it's been long retired. All former us military pasgt vests issued are surplus and can be up to multiple decades old

It's not really a nitpick, if the armour can "roll with the punch" because it doesn't have the proper backing, it could give a totally different result.
It's possible 1989-era US military issue PASGT vest could be NIJ Level III equivalent, but this is by far the best test that is freely available, and he rates it NIJ II or IIA depending on the vest condition...

Now... it shouldn't even really matter if it is III or II or IIA because all of those will stop 9mm NATO and Makarov, and all of those will be penetrated by every rifle in the game.
it may if arma 4 has more pistols with different calibers or perhaps if you have a higher velocity [istol cartridge allowed by a longer barrel then m9 length pistol barrel. IE SMG such as Mp5.
because ive seen even a "backyard" test , ( ie not up to"official" NIJ standards) show a Mp5 penetrate a pasgt at close range Unless you will want argue that improper backing gives you an disadvantage, and as such would prove better then without. But in that case that would just prove that pasgt could potentially stop bigger rounds if did have 'proper backing" if thats what you chose to argue, but i think you have been attempting to say the opposite
And ATM with how the health system works it does seem to matter anyways ( even if its inccorect) because pasgt still reduces damage from penetrating rifle rounds. Threre is no word from devs if they will change this system.
It depends how much the vest can , ie, a hanging vest would be much harder to penetrate.
It reduces too much, but it at least is an improvement from DayZ system where it reduces all rounds by the same percent... M16 "only" had like half reduction while Makarov had something like 96% reduction in Reforger. So in DayZ they would all get 0.5x damage reduction. But half is still a lot considering characters are a pool of health, whereas in real life you have vital organs and such.

yeah thats a fair reason, most of the 1980s footage that i have seen though the helmet covers aren't that beaked out, it just looks very out of place, and yes same with the flak vest
The m69 flak vest shouldn't even be in woodland camo tbh. I have only ever seen it fielded in olive green within the us armed forces. BI developers taking some " artistic licensing" with that piece of gear, since we have it in such form in conflict but is otherwise only accessible via the game files ( or using extended gear mod, which uses un used game assets) the flak jacket is there in its intended irl form.

my suggestion (and I am not a game dev) would be to treat the attributes like tags, skin: "Woodland Hex", type: "Handgun" then just filter by these. Can be extended on to provide hierarchical category menus in the future

"Skins" aren't something that is attached to an Entity. They're a material with a texture. As I said. If the system is implemented by BI then sure. If not a system will have to be implemented by a mod, and anyone wanting their equipment to work with the system would have to use the one that implemented the system as a dependency. With a simple naming convention there's no need for a "system" to be created. Why would I want to have to manually parse prefabs? I.E. get their mesh object, get all the materials and hope one has the color name in it? Even doing it that way would still require a naming convention. We don't have a setup like other Arma titles and DayZ. There is no "Black_M4A1 : M4A1 : M4A1_Base" hierarchy structure. All firearms in Reforger are generic entities with certain components that determine what they actually are. I'm the one making the Virtual Arsenal and I don't want to have people be required to use it as a dependency but, if they want their shit to work with it they're gonna have to use a naming convention. If not sucks to be them I guess. What you're suggesting would require me to write some custom attributes to sort entities and then require people to use the mod as a dependency to have their entities properly sorted. What I'm gonna do is require the particular naming convention thus parsing the name and also not requiring a dependency mod.

Server side for vehicles was A terrible idea. It didn't work in dayz now it basically ruined vehicles on packed servers.
I haven't had any issues with them ever since they were released really. Even on high ping servers I get maybe an occasional stutter or two only

They work very well on the road, as soon as you do some ofroad and you have the body hit something at moderate speed it starts replay lagging. I think with some work to it it will probably get better but never as smooth as the client side solution they had before.
It mostly happens when the suspension bottoms out going trough ditches or when the front bumper touches ground in the same type of situation

You really shouldnt be able to delete all structures and then delete the supply depot to magically despawn all supplies in Conflict. The supplies can't just disappear.

You use to be able to sneak up on A.I. at least stand right behind them without them noticing, now the radius of them noticing you is 20 feet away, even if i put an a.i. in front of a hay bale and i try to sneak around he notices my presence. The coding to the A.I. is horrendous and it should be worked on extensively for better quality of military simulation. You should be able to sneak up on A.I. without them noticing you.

The problems with randomly happeining is that it is random. You cannot pinpoint what it is that trigger the glitch. Thats why repro steps is essential. Are there mods involve? I think I saw a ticket in the feedback tracker. If you have more information, you can comment there. I try to reproduce it offline

It works most of the time, until some TKers plant mines around your MHQ and if you shoot the mines, the MHQ will blow up along with it. If you move the MHQ, you will ran over the mines... blowing up bridges is super important, as is building destruction in general. as for repairing them, that's something you can easily tackle with scripting
considering there is a new placment system it wouldnt be very hard to impliment, destruction is what the devs need to do though and also ai handling, easier said than done, but honestly i think it should be a minimum requirement for a new arma game

As far as sneaking up on someone in the middle of a field, it actually is Possible if you are using the right techniques and maneuvers...Just because it never happened to you doesn't make it impossible, realistically the terrain and other surrounding objects can dictate a successful behind the back attack.
stealth has been implemented in many video games especially military games, i just think that Bohemia coding is bad where they don't put the full effort into the A.I. capabilities and different scenarios for things like stealth.

Seems like AI can hear. Plenty of games have implemented stealth and plenty have done it unrealistically.
Sneaking to someone to scare them is hard even when I'm barefoot and in my underwear. Imagine doing that with full gear.
You say A.I. can hear? I find that to be untrue since I actually tested stealth in GameMaster. Im sure they have a radius coded in them where it gives off the signal that you are in their vicinity. If you believe that the A.I. can hear you 20 feet away with a low crawl or they can hear you when using stealthiness to move up on them when they aren't in position to visually see you then thats your testimony.

I'm not against this being made more realistic, I just don't think the initial parameters you mentioned were realistic. In a quiet environment I don't find it unbelievable that someone sitting still could hear someone moving up on them from 20ft away while crawling or walking slowly. In a noisy rainy environment for example, I would think the chances of remaining undetected on some surfaces would go up whereas others would go down

It's entirely possible in real life to sneak up on enemies in real life. That being said... As soon as the first shot is fired... They will be alerted... And become ever increasingly aware.
Stealth in real life is hard mode
Not only do you have to avoid things like Thermals, and the Human Eye, you have to know how to get out without getting caught as well, or if you ARE to be seen, now you have half a battalion looking for you

Some places gunfire in medium range is considered normal therefore not alerting.
But if its dead silence and gunshot is heard then the whole 5 km area (audiable + radio) would be alerted and location search units deployed to investigate.
Sneaking in the woods is doable. Yes cracks from branches etc, but if you ever went to the woods, they are never silent, animal noises, cracks, wind in leaves etc etc.
In jungle even more so, there were reported incidents in vietnam where (friendly) troops would be 20 m from each other and didnt know until later.

I had problems with the speed of downloading mods if I have more than a couple mods downloaded the it takes ages to download like 8kbs a second slow and when I normally download them when it gets to the last bit it just slows down to around that

There should be a placeable sign that warns your team of friendly mines. This way you can mine a road mainly used by the enemy and warn of a mined zone past this point of the road.
if you drop, rather than place, a mine flag it will stand up straight but again this requires communication rather than a "dont drive here idiot" sign

About a certain house plant that does not allow bullets to pass through them. Making anyone behind them invulnerable. Conversely, if a shooter behind them, had to expose himself so that he can shoot over the plant.
Griefing and trolling is ruining the experience, new players are getting a truly awful first impression and veterans are quitting in anger over the state of MP games lately. The fact that any player can quickly and easily tear down hours of work (deleting everything from bases) is rediculous. At least limit the ability to deconstruct/delete things to Sgt rank or higher. Or just remove the ability to delete things entirely, it isnt needed.
If you disable deleting buildings, these players will start building in the most stupid way possible and they will block vehicle depot and the like.
There should be a note with all the friendly mines and the cords,, then you should be able to mark them on your map. When you place the mine, its cords get added on the "mine" note

These issues have been mentioned here and in the feedback tracker many times. BI seem to not think its an issue worth prioritizing. Which is ridiculous to me. Surely, its not that hard an issue to address, even with just some small improvements. Its incredibly frustrating
The combination of not improving TK / griefing management AND these stupid 20 player offical Conflict Everon servers that have been in place since the medical update has pushed me to the brink of giving up, after playing consistently since May 2022. Completely ruined it for me. The bugs I can live with, I get those, but not supporting the player base, sorry, can’t deal with that.

I’m a very patient person, used to buggy games but after a year of playing with so little of the roadmap added teamkilling getting worse with no preventatives added and servers fluxating in stability with each update… I can’t help but put the game down until all the content has been added.

Frankly though there isnt, since the Expanded Soviet Uniforms mod has no LODs and there isnt alot of good US Cold War stuff
The most playable community server I've come across so far is called "Modern Conflict 2032." They restricted vehicles (only transport and supply trucks) by making them cost more as well as reserving spawning jeeps for higher ranks. To compensate for this they've allowed players to use as many radio backpacks as they want, and the server hardly ever crashes. Def give it a try if you haven't already.
i think jeeps should have a rank barrier for corpral, to many supplies get wasted because of randoms that drive out of base flip it or drive into roadblock with just them in the car

Too many radio backpacks is a deal breaker. It turns the entire game into a zerg and everyone being able to spawn on everyone is basically battlfield

People should rely on teammates to drive them places in transport trucks, or they should risk walking
That's exactly what they did. As for too many radio packs, majority of people would rather carry 15 mags and 30 40mm grenades than take a radio.
Even when infinite radios are allowed the most I see on the field are 4-5.
And yes, radio backpacks are pretty bad when theres too many, a single man that can move at will can spawn an army. It removes the need for supplies at bases and makes Logi even more useless than it currently is

Modern Conflict 2032 accomplishes exactly this since they put jeeps behind the corporal barrier and the only other option is transport trucks that cost 500 supplies. The team is forced to ride together.

That server proved to me that dozens of vehicles littered across the map causes more lag and crashing than radio packs do
I understand Dark Gru is a well known server, if they'd adopt the system Modern Conflict 2032 uses with their vehicles both servers would be everyone's favorites
That still needs to be fixed at some point because I don't recall littered vehicles causing stability issues in a3.
Idk if anyone has the same problem but sometimes my character just can't Switch weapons or even fire and I have to rejoin.
Also I can't equip morphine or anything else beside what's already in the equip wheel.

When my UI bugs (it's very rare that it does) dying/respawning fixes it for me.
As for quickslotting on xbox, it's a bit finicky, but what you do is hover over the item you'd like to quickslot, press Y. Then navigate down to one of the empty quickslot boxes and press Y again.

I been working on a mod that only activates the radio backpack if it’s equipped by a squad leader. Still working out the code for only allowing the group members of that squad leader to spawn on it. It’s been an off and on project when I got time.

Only noticed just now because in experimental build, you can place marker and I was trying to mark my position and write in the time when I was there. So I turn on the watch in the map screen and it shows different time than the one on your person.

I would like to have towed objects, there are tons of vehicles and logistical needs that would be helpful with towed objects, static anti air, military power generators (which is something that would be cool for the new additions) being able to have fuel trailers and more. Would be useful for a plethora of eras that include vehicles, WW2 antitank guns and such all the way to modern vehicles with trailer based armaments like patriot.
Trailers make up an important part of logistics and based on what was shown by the new additions within this game i’d love to see this kind of stuff be usable.

heh i once made a whole private overhaul mod for arma3 using those voices as well as to call out enemies, grenades, planes war cries etc.. I never released because i was unsure of legality. It does add a ton of immersion imo

If Conflict is played using the Play button (single player) and base items are built and the game is saved and exitted. When the saved game is reloaded, the base supplies are significantly reduced from when the game was saved. The amount appears to be the same amount as the supply cost of what's built at the base. Eg. If 2000 worth of base items are built (eg. light vehicle, armoury, supply depot), then each time you reload the game, the previous supply amount is reduced by 2000. It's like your re-purchasing the base items every time the game is reloaded. This also happens at FOB's. The supplies amount will also go negative. Is this meant to happen or a bug? Would be nice if the save game kept the amount of supplies when the game was saved.

i asked for vehicle water effects around three months ago and i am happy we got them!

It does take damage, engine gets destroyed, it just doesnt catch on fire and explode, also if your vehicle starts burning you can put out the fire if you drive it in the water
Yep, you are right, the engine is in fact dead in stable.
I tried it on experimental too because testing it there makes more sense, and it seems that the truck do catch on fire while submerge in the experimental.

That is an RTS game, and in this example, by 10k they mean 10k points, not 10k individual AI unit.
what do you mean by individual AI units, RTS game doesnt mean anything, ArmA 3 also use tricks like grouping units etc. to optimize performance
I played this game before, 10k points means about 100 unit, since the average cost of one unit is ~100 points.
I'm not expert in that game and haven't played it but if you look at 01:21 there are about 10 trucks, each have probably 10-20 soldiers inside, but thats small part of video / map

AFAIK Do you even realize that Reforger has switched from HYBRID client-server architecture to server-client architecture for MP games, so those AI calculations can be made on a good server, and clients basically just need to render stuff? That wasn't case for ArmA 3 engine, where AI calculations are performed where AI is local, meaning sometimes client.
you know the irony when people had issue that A1/A2/A2OA could handle 1k+ AI and all of sudden A3 was able handle only several hundred ? well ... they missed the detail that in old Arma, only the group leader had full brain while the subordinates just mirrored his decision (plus some own extras like positions/cover/searching own target or ammo source/going to get that ammo) , while in Arma 3, all subordinate AI got full brain (hence perfornace demand for AI increased)
so the can do 'more' demand is like coin, it has 3 sides ... the one you see, the other one which logically is there too and the one everyone forget about

depends on your setup, as In A3 most of us use tons of mods which adds missing parts of warfare, We are running a server with 100+ mods, and we can run it with 200-300 AI, but had to spend tons of time to optimize this game in my free time

If the new Arma 4 will be server-client based with most of AI related calculations offloaded to the server, then this will already help with performance, but will increase network load because more stuff need to be synced to clients to allow them to render it, devs should keep it in mind. If new engine has better rendering capabilities then its good. Having most calculations done on server will improve scalability of the battles. Having ability to create multiple nodes, and distributed in a network (which kind of Headless clients allowed in A3), would be even better. I see huge potential in the new architecture, but when I last time tested Reforger I was hugely disappointed when 70 AIs caused big performance drop. I keep my fingers crossed for at least 1000 bots for A4, which is totally doable with new architecture. Those comments about NASA PC are really far from reality, anybody with some software programming background can say that.
well my feedback for Reforger is just keep the grind up, A3 was awful at release so hahaha honestly ArmA is a masterpiece overtime

Why do you need 1000x AI, it's similar to the number of players. Respawn compensates for the numbers.
So it's more about designing the mission somehow.

I sould of thought part of the reason performance in a3 sucked especially when throwing around lots of ai was because it only used 1 cpu core. I'm not sure it was nessessary to offload all ai calculations server side when enfusion could of been designed to use more then cpu 3 cores. Tbh even with ai stuff offloaded ID hope to see enfusion to use more of cpu potential since even current gen consoles have 8 cores.

for the following changes, they should be able to be downloaded separatly to have a lightweight server for those who dont need to use it :
- add a managing area of the server via a window or an http page ( a lot of people want a server but arent very good in IT )
- add a benchmark extension to stress test the server to know what it Can handle and what it cant. This could also trigger warning if the owner try to make changes that could make the server very slow.
- add a usage management tool to limit, record, and log the usage of ram, cpu cores, disk, etc
Feedback discord channel change
Add a bot that automatically add 👍👎 to any message, so devs, emissary, etc could survey what the community think.
Ingame add
- equipement customization, to allow a large variety of things without having a large amount of every equipment. Like with vest, just having the base, then you can choose what pouches to add, what flags and what color to have. It was a huge problem in Arma 3 with mods that are ridiculously huge because of some equipment with a lot of variance.
I think 👍 and 👎 would make the channel very cluttered since a lot of the comments aren't just direct suggestions

i agree with this to an extent, i think it would be a bit complex to make a completely modular system for the rigs in the game, but it sure would be cool!
funnily enough, rigs already work like this in game, it's just that the only way to customize them right now is through workbench.

At original release you could customize your own rig with pouches and stuff
And you could remove/add pouches pretty much at will
The reason why is because it wasn't supposed to behave that way. The rigs and the pouches are not ready for that sort of system yet. But the system is there, in case modders wish to use it.
The original ability to remove pouches was not inteded to behave this way. Eventually there may be a proper system for customising rigs in place, but no promises.
I'll probably end up modding it in myself if BI doesn't get around to it

Would be nice if weapons and equipment in general were more customizable or complex. For example, Yesterday I was thinking about how it would be nice if the US army flashlights have a battery and lens component that can be changed. I know they had options for using red and green filters on them. And having batteries would be nice for looter shooter type game modes where you scavenge. Not saying that the batteries should only last for 30 minutes or anything but requiring a battery to use one and making it so they can be separated would be nice.
RHS has a battery system they are planning to introduce with their modded radios. I would love to see the ability to have a "nomal" and "hardcore" mode with hardcore requiring the player to swap batteries, have equipment degrade in some way, possibly need to eat after 2-3hrs of being alive in that character, etc
I don't mind there being some kind of module for the eating thing but I don't want it in the base game

Yeah and I mostly only want the battery stuff I mentioned for more varied Resistance fighter gameplay. I don't want batteries dying every 15 minutes like DayZ by default. I just want more components that can be scavenged or damaged.
And of course, adding stuff is always one more thing that can go wrong in both gameplay and in the engine...
a system like that would ideal for Overthrow imo, it adds much more to something slower and more personal progress based than it does to a gamemode like Conflict

Before Reforger was released, the only things I wanted from A4 outside of "better AI" in general and some specific terrain improvements were things from DayZ. Things like the components I just mentioned and equipment damage because those are the things I feel Arma is missing.
Now that Reforger is out its those things, much better AI, and all the things missing that were in A3

of course not, part of the reason i dont play conflict anymore is due to how repetitive its become. the reason i say its the only pvp mode right now is because unless you have an active GM there are few other modes to use for large scale pvp

There are mainly two problems in the conflict, one is that any objective on anywhere on the map in signal range is constantly changing sides because there are extra active people in each team that are going around the map (exploiting) and that's going nowhere.
If there is a larger number of people on the server, there is an endless battle for some objective, again this has no solution because both sides endlessly spawn a similar number of players, there is no need for a connection to the rear, logistics, nothing. Maybe that will solve the limited radios in the next five-year plan.. 
The whole thing would probably work best if the map was divided into a square grid (like in Jagged Alliance 2 for example) and the rest of the mechanics would work based on that instead of teleporting players anywhere and that broken signal thing.

it varies a lot depending on lighting conditions, it looks like you have some sort of depth of field enabled to, diable it and then look at character in direct light and you will see more details, it looks flat there bc you are in vehicle on overcast day (from what i can see)

i had one bug today on arland where i set the time to night and when i moved far away the military tower lights casted massive bright white areas around them and the shadows were pixelated
experienced that too
happens to one of arlands towns near the harbour, easily replicatable in game master
in the workbench i was playing around with the m1 helmet cover material, i set the V to ~140 and tbh it fits in with the rest of the kit more
Why do some people say Reforger has no single player, but after a single Youtube search, it shows there is? I am confused a bit.
@slow cradle currently there is no dedicated single player campaign. However there are missions you can play alone.
It's definitely the worst SP experience of the franchise in my opinion. No dedicated single player or story based missions
Even Armed Assault had Blood Sweat and Tears and the innovative SP campaign even though the story was lacking a bit.
It doesn't have an official campaign, which is what most players think of when thinking of single player.
It also lacks Eden editor.
I would say it doesn't even have single player missions either. Just MP missions that you can play by yourself. So nothing like Ambush, Steal the Car, or Eye for an Eye. And now that I think about it A3 didn't really have SP missions either... at least not at launch though the tutorials were more story based than normal
Combat Ops is the best thing about Arma Reforger but conflict gets all the love because it requires less thinking

@cobalt agate @stray frost Its an early access game, you should expect it to be incomplete, furthermore, it more or less bohemia just testing the waters of the new engine
