you can probably raycast to ground for every piece of track and move it around but i would wait for something official first

in my opinion it looks like a too early access, its fun but i spotted a lot of bugs
and i think that workshop on the steam would be better than in game, like arma 3 has

Not to mention that Steam Workshop is not managed at all... And Valve doesn't care about hosting illegal content on their network...
Although the best feature with Enfusion is that's possible to 1) get modlists in-game and 2) download mods when joining a server (without closing the game)

Im banned in Arma 3 and i have some battleye errors in reforger and Arma 2 OA
but like i can play the game but battleye doesnt initialize so im not sure if im crossover banned or not

I don't think you are cross-banned, but also be sure to install/update BE for A2OA - its latest game DLL had issues iirc

just installed arma 3 for test it also says now "game start failure. Do you want to start Arma 3 without battleye?" i have this only in arma series not in one other BE game

Yeah, server browser is full with 32 pop servers on Xbox.

I didn't say, that all servers are full. Misreading. Not all, but most of them. Many people are working, so the main time would be later this day.
Any idea why I see no servers with any players? Every server is 0/16 and 0/32
Three things you all can try:
- restart game
- clear mac address in Xbox network settings
- delete save file
Hints l: please check, if NAT is open. Also never start this game with quick resume.
Also check sorting, most players on top

anyone know how to fix or find out a mod that is crashing the game? cause im constantly getting crashes from workshop mods by enabling a few of them and have no idea which one is causing the issue plus its only when i control a character
Divide your mod list in half, enable half of them and turn off the other half, see if that crashes it. Keep halving the mod list until you find it. Not fancy but unless it's spitting out usable errors I'm not sure there's a better way.
what im confused about though is now i have found out its only the soviets
and i dont have any weapon/skin packs on them or anything that could physically edit them

Hard to answer since I have no idea how often Squad crashes and disconnects you from server.

i have a question in Arma reforger when i try to drive any vehicle i cannot go faster than 10 miles an hour does anyone know what causes this and how i have tried everything to fix?

i believe so, there have been a number of leaks of vehicle models in the files, including helicopters. i don't think anyone of that has been confirmed however, though i believe that the developers have confirmed that building destruction will be coming
i expect the content may be slow to come out until they fix the more pressing issues tho
also better AI (and commanding of AI) have practically been confirmed too
BI has promised (at least) three major content updates through May 2023 (the one-year anniversary of this game's release into Early Access) with new weapons, gadgets, vehicles, and artillery

well unmatched client mods will not work in servers, servers will make you auto download the needed mods from the workshop. try redownloading mods and if that that doesn't work try validating steam files. @flint nest

Nice find! Extremely important to avoid problems with the communication with servers and so on.
I recommend this or (when possible by router) to allow pcp and upnp, which automatically opens the ports by requests.
It's the oldest trick in the world (already used that website 20 years ago).
If people would just try to Google once in a while they might find gems like this as well.

don't the ai announce call outs? if so that gives a you a good indicator on what's ahead
I doubt we'll see a singleplayer campaign but I do think we'll get AI commanding and being able to save game master missions

I wouldn't mind seeing a pvp mode where you have 2 players who are platoon leaders on each team. There would be 3 other players would command smaller fireteams as well making it a total of 8 players (4 on each team). It would be a pvpve similar to how it was operation flashpoint
I'm not asking for anything too complex at the moment. I think they should start off with basic commands and then implement more complex ones when they release Arma 4
the ideal system is a modular one that allows them to not only drip feed that out, but also allow us to mod in our own commands

You need another mod that has scenario on said map. Check if map comes with scenario.

Hey guys, just discovered Arma Reforger and assessing whether i want to buy it. So far pretty impressed with the '20 enhancements on Arma' youtube vid. Got nearly 7k hours in Arma3 but mainly in the Exiles/Epoch space. I've had a look on the interwebs and haven't found much so I thought I'd ask here: Any idea if there is likely an Exiles-esque survival/pvp mod?
not sure about Exiles-esque but I have seen a few people working on some survival systems + the Everon Life team is building a framework for some of that as well I think
and theres my Overthrow game mode if you want some PvE guerilla action

Yes. There is no self host ability or listen server like you've known in arma3 (yet). You can run a ds on same machine you play on, but you need to know your routing well.

Okay, totally being smart this time. Hey all (scott here) - Reforger allows local mods to be loaded right, or is there a mod approval process now?
I'm testing my mods locally without even publishing, and I could share the code (without publishing to the workshop) so other can use it in-game.
Not sure if it's possible to whitelist mods on the server without requiring them on all clients 🤔

Is there a way to disable vehicle animations? For example in arma 3 getting in a vehicle could pretty much be done instantly except for the small animation at the start but the doors wouldn’t open etc. because trying to get out of a vehicle when you are getting shot at takes too long as the animation is really slow.
love when in arma 3 just need to tap V 2x to eject

or press f 2x 😉

i believe they are working on it, and helicopters will likely come (there's almost a modded helicopter finished already) but i'm not sure if they plan on adding any fixed wing aircraft to reforger
however they're likely working on the physics behind it especially for arma4
helicopters are so much hard to create flight models for
personally those guys who are making helicopters are kinda kick themselves, I would wait until the helicopters are released to see how they are done.

Go to your reforger install, inside resides battleye folder, inside of that are two bat files, install and and uninstall. Run uninstall as admin.

I don't think the samples mod has anything useful for the game

If they add in crossplay I wonder how you xboxers gonna use applications such as teamspeak. because I highly doubt many groups are going to be using the default ingame voip.
I am very very unhappy to say this, as a TS3 user myself, but Teamspeak is unfortunately dying. 😦 Besides, what is wrong with the in-game voip? o.O
seems better to have a dedicated program / server that handles voip. pretty much every game out there has rather poor voip quality, especially when more players are on the server. I cant say for my self since I haven't tried playing online due to the disconnects.

arma is like to trick you into thinking that foliage gives you any concealment

- There was no grass. So the user/player didn't get false impression/visual feedback that is being concealed in it.
- Those washed out, 'poor' textures/colour palette that has been used actually played really well in terms of camouflaging objects against terrain and rest of the environment. I even have impression that those trash textures were like this on purpose.
- Even DX8/9 lighting, night effect and fog has also played some role in terms of the visibility.
And it was 23 years ago, with such limited everything. Maybe it is kinda due also lower screen resolution and somehow affected by nostalgia-googles, but it was working fine for 1999.
I would say that this particular issue is worse now, taking into account this whole technological progress that we've been living through - it's really bad I must say.
It also affects other games, but let's face it: the far distance rendering/visibility simulation is especially crucial for ARMA series, where much of the gameplay is happening over those distances, where visibility problems are not simulated any better than in other games which are usually happening over smaller distances when compared to ARMA.
I hope that I'm really clear with this. I suppose this issue is out of scope of the Reforger project and won't be even touched, I've got no hope for this to happen. However I would like to be stay vocal about this as I can't be betrayed into thinking that it is not important. ARMA isn't about shooting monsters in a face from two or three meters. Hopefully it will be addressed sometime, with enough attention - something more than putting models in a ground, making them inconsistent with hitboxes.
I keep seeing people saying something about "can't have multiplayer with mods." I have a server with mods running, so are they talking about console only or what? Also on a tangent, so many kids reviewing the game but throwing in "I haven't actually played the game yet..." Blows my mind! 🤯 LOL!

So to put it simply, the disconnection issue is when the game disconnect all the time, mostly every five or 20 minutes making players unable to play the game.
Its easy to see, even if you dont have them yourself. If you ever played any public server, you will notice players keep "leaving" and rrconnecting seconds later. Sometimes even alot of them at the same time.

I just play on my own public modded server and rarely have others join, but I'm usually able to play for an hour or two with no issues. 🤷♂️

Conflict is way more stable than game master, so if you’re playing game master you’re better off using the 16 slot ones
But you’re gonna crash in any game mode, when I read your thing I thought you were talking about server crash not game crash

Yeah that’s just the game. Can’t really hope for too much lol. You’ll have a more stable time on 16 slots, but it doesn’t mean it’ll be perfect

someone 50-150m away will have the wheat field dissapear from his sight and youll get spottet easily.

This is do to field of view (draw distance) rendering and hopefully gets buffed out in updates.
Idk about enfusion engine, but in UE5 you can set the distance in which objects appear (individually) so if similar, in theroy you should be able to turn this up for the wheat fields, but doing so may add unexpected problems to the performance of the game.

Problems with hitreg come from desync of weapon state between your client and server. I found it few times, but its a elusive repro which we are still working on.
I think drop the gun and repick it fixes it locally, so if you observe that few shots didn't drop AI, try it, worked for me.

dont give up - try see if your monitor has a setting that changes how resolutions are displayed - some monitors have a setting that "zooms" into the image, or changes aspect ratio or whatever

Do people ever even play on the Capture and Hold servers? I feel like I've only seen one with 2 people on it in the past few weeks and all the others are empty. It's a good game mode (mostly) but I never see anyone on it to play with.
They used to have a few popping but now they’re completely dead. They need to use them for something better because 60 permanently empty servers is not it.

AR will be able to handle larger scale as well, and Arma 4 without large scale mission is not Arma 😉
But I doubt AR will have an in-game editor like 3den, might even not be a feature in Arma 4. The Workbench can do much more, although needs a bit of work to make it easier for 99% of the playerbase

As we have confirmation from the devs that air vehicles will be coming to reforger (at some point) will the objectives on Everon change to accommodate aircraft, as ATM there is only one airport base on Everon.

Attack helicopters would be nice, and one way yo make sure they aren't OP would be to make there gas consumption higher so they only have a limited flight time before needing refueled. Just a thought.
If they do go ahead and add attack helicopters, then they also need to give us AA capabilities, such as stingers
100% agree with you on that, I'd like to see alot more in this game then there is. Tbh it seems like a huge missed opportunity, especially with the size of the map and surrounding islands. Mortars, tanks, planes, helios, and sea craft, should have been here at the start. Same with map marking for your squad/team.
I have no love for attack helicopters. I still have nightmare of chinese dudes camping a billion km away in KOTH and shooting guided missiles to kill all our vehicles .
Gas consumption could help with this, take off from base exhaust X amount of fuel to get to target (plus need X amount to return) leaves only X amount of time on target. I don't understand the hate for making fuel a needed resource, especially in a game like this.
I'm not sure if gas consumption has been confirmed or not, but it would make sense to me that they add it considering we already have fuel gauges
And you can puncture gas tanks as well
It's there just super low, ad you can put a bullet or two in the gas tank and see the fuel drop.
There is also a fuel truck and refuel depot.

Yeah give it a test, if you put enough rounds into the tank it will drain completely and you cannot start the vehicle. The only down side is you can't fill it back up (unless in GM) with the fuel truck or depot
An with my last statement I have another question for BI, will the fuel truck and depot serve an actual purpose in the future, or are they just never going to have functionality?

Makes it more simulator than arcade imo. Thought that's what Arma was, a milSIM....no? I also understand the opposite side of not wanting to have yo refuel the vehicles do to slower progression on the map but I think it makes for more strategic thinking that way.
Helicopters can realistically fly for much longer though if you're arguing the simulation route. I'd say the better route to go is to pick oh58 and mi2 and give them only rocket pods. That way they get no guided weapons and have limited runs with the unguided ones

Yeah but if you go off of Km per gallon you could limit the range and effectiveness of the helicopters, also making refueling take between 60-130sec gives down time, which can be used to gear up and position for a counter attack on the helicopter when it comes back. Just saying there's alot of ways to bring various offensive/transportation vehicles to AR. Even submarines could be added for recon/sea attacks same with aircraft carriers for sea to land invasions this could be done for both soviet and US forces as only the IFA are set up on Everon.
Soviets also never invaded an island in the middle of the Atlantic either but here we are.
There are lots that don't "break" the game, you'd have to be more specific on what kind of mods your looking for. Weapons, gear, OP's, vehicles, ect.

At the moment there is no work on this nor plans done. We may get back to the topic of foliage on distance and how it should hide objects, at some point in the future.
As for how to do it - problem has few parts
- recognize the foliage in which character/item is - this data usually is GPU only, so access to it means a significant cost for either memory or CPU. Additionally this data needs to be available on dedicated server, so AI also can recognize the foliage (which they aren't atm).
- modify appearance of object - visibility sounds good but it has it pitfalls - it only would look acceptable with transparency, could be done like heads and headgear is done now, with alpha test on material. It increases the cost of rendering those objects. It could be Y-offset, kind of like Arma 3, where it partially sinks into the ground. Not very visually appealing, but a bit easier and less costly to do.
There are many ways to make it happen, but to be honest - we had bigger fishes to fry for rendering team, so this one wasn't high enough priority. We did distant shadows and pretty good mid-range textures. 3D clutter also helps with hiding the characters realistically.
There is also an angle that eventually foliage could be even more efficient and therefore spanning longer distance which would remove issue partially.

When you see the AI can't recognize the foliage, you mean just the clutter right? They do recognize trees and bushes?

yeah, I meant clutter. AI cant see through tree tops and bushes, also smoke grenades. And its actually partial visibility, so the more of it between you and AI the less they will see you

Adding alpha would be amazing (especially in PvP), and "should" only affect client side. But I can imagine this can cause issues with consoles and lesser PC hardware. For AI is shouldn't really matter since it will just not being able to see a person.
Don't we have somewhat more sophisticated methods in modern engines than just transparency? Speaking of angles - can't we just have terrain slope, distance, and height difference to calculate how much visible model should be? Would it be really this computional heavy?
nearestTerrainObjects doesn't seem to be something lightweight
however, it's based on radius, from my experience - bounding box calculations are more order of magnitude quicker than complex geometry (like radius) queries
anyway I don't think that foliage that we are speaking of, is a thing that is taken into account with this nearestTerrainObjects thing

Are there any plans to bring back the stances between prone and kneeling? They were very useful for shooting in grass. Kneeling is too high and prone blocks your vision even when you crawl over the grass in front of you.
Karmakut gear is dope and works well and as for weapons I recommend the MK18 with attachments and M4A1 Block II mod 👌 also you can change you filter and choose highest subscriptions (people downloaded) and usually the most download are the ones most used. However there is always the chance of having too many active mods, and having mods clash.
When will we get modded servers (also really hoping for a war hammer mod)
If you are talking about on Xbox, then once crossplay servers are enabled, you’ll definitely have the option to join modded servers.

So I can't report something over the game and xbox really doesn't give a fuck about this guy with 8 accounts that comes in and kills people and gets banned on one account and comes back on another and for some reason you don't get banned for beating team mates to death so he meles people's and doesn't gat banned and people on the team keep shooting him and getting banned and all he does is talk constant shit while he does this

There is no steam workshop because that doesnt help XBOX players. There is an in-game workshop for both PC and XBOX with pretty much the same features as steam workshop

also i can not unbind push to talk. it's hard bound to caps lock. not input for it under the chimera config file, or in the workbench.
can't change the push-to-talk to anything else.
