In experimental when you deploy radio you can spawn as long you have supplies, but game also allow you to lock the spawn with loadout BUT if you can spawn with your loadout then the game tell you "you need arsenal" for that, i tried to deploy radio with arsenal practically next to it as well with supply truck (with full supplies) yet game still gives me warning i need arsenal, is it bug or you wont be able to spawn through the radio with your loadout even with arsenal truck present
When the radio is deployed, you can interact with it to allow custom loadouts.
I cant find that option, i even went to 2 different servers

Didnt try that but every time i deploy it on the ground, for a sec it gives me like a 5 option list, then it just dissapears and becomes to undeploy and open

when starting up the mi-8, why does it constantly rotate to one side and is there any way to stop that?
Not sure how realistic it is, but I think it's simulating torque from the main rotors. Can try applying rudder to counter it, as the tail rotor spins up.

You usually wont buy the server, but rent it.
Arma 3 is a diffrent game, if you want arma 3 server rent arma 3 server.
If u want reforger, your rent reforger.
You can also rent a dedicated machine or VPS (but perhaps Dedicated might be cheaper given requirements) and run both.
It does require some more know-how to set up.

As a side note. Reforger server binaries are completely free. If you have a pc, you can run it.
As with DS or Vps it requires setting up, which is not the easiest thing to do if you never done it before.

Does server fps or ping affect keyboard input lag? Sometimes on high ping server, I find my keyboard entry lagging a bit. Like reload for example. I press R once, it didn't register so I press a few more times until it finally reload my weapon.

That's only to the master server, which is fairly inconsequencial. The ping to the servers you play on is what matters.

It's a bit late for the saying, but I feel like they shouldn't add units at all if they don't, and won't, work in singleplayer. Not nice to place down a helicopter in your offline mission and find it's unable to do anything!

Reforger is not meant for Single Player anyway.... it is MP focused. Consider it a bonus you can play solo.

With the newest patches reforger is shaping up really well, and it's also starting to get more audience attention.
Interest in the game is increasing. PS players want it. There's also interest in sp content.
If they keep fixing and delivering content the popularity of the game will increase and it will keep selling.
The a.i. should be able to use all the vehicles in the game. This is something that they will have to do for arma 4 anyway. Might aswell implement and test it in reforger.

I'm running into a weird issue involving the arsenal. I have the exact same mods loaded on my server, and I place an arsenal with the same options down via game master. Some missions have every item from the mods, but on some missions there are a few items missing from the arsenal. I thought a mod wasn't loading at first but on the missions where some items are missing, it seems like half the items from "Mod A" are there and half are missing. Anyone know what could be causing this?

Why are you advocating for the devs to hide modding tools behind a paywall instead of just releasing them with the already free tools provided?
Im not, The free tools remain as they are. This would just be a subscription version or paid version that would allow a modder to then charge for there work useing the tools. in the past I have heard moderators on here state the reason Paid works not allowed is due to the free nature of the tools and the TOS combined. this would be a possible work around by the devs that would work out for all sides.

Paid for tools allows the modder to be approched and paid for if someone wishes to comission them to make a mod or use the reforger tools to bring work into the game.
Modders who would wish to purchase the subscription, likely something around 20-30 a month would be able to then charge for there work and the quality of there work. this of course would also allow the modder using these " Premium Mod tool " or Licensing package would be the better name, would be able to put stock into how well they can operate the tools. if they think they can make a profit from using the tools while also share a portion of the profitwith BI then both BI and the modder can benefit.
Personally I hate paid mods/tools, things become less and less inclusive and mods stay shite quality.. People just get greedier. Just not a good thing man, plus they already have free tools that work why would they go out of their way making a seperate licensing and then have to worry about some knob making a commisioned mod and then deleting it causing a loss for the person who 'commisioned' the mod lol way too much headache for nearly no financial return on the work, not enough people would even buy it for it to make sense on the labour cost of code

i've done a bunch of debugging on my end, and i know my wifi can handle other games of similar scale, so i'm not sure as to why reforger has such terrible servers, or my wifi can't handle it, i've seen other posts online related to it

it's a shame yeah, but reforger seems to be the only game where this like a serious problem, i've tested multiple networks too
it'll work for like 20 seconds, then just have the ping max out at 999 and then crash like a minute later
ping is related to how far you are to the server. if you use wifi, satellite internet, cellular and how ever many points needed to made for information to travel increaes your ping
no i get that, what confuses me is that it starts alright in the menus and for the first half a minute before it decides "nuh uh" and just locks up

There is a difference in that Reforger requires more bandiwdth than most games. Your wifi could be the culprit if it is not handling the extra bandwidth that well.

I would try to get hard wired if you can. This also reminds me of the horrible lag I got when I was running an outdated video card driver. Would be fine for about 3-10min then my frames would drop to like <5.

What slamsgt said, BI will 'show the way that indirect fire should be done' once the 2B14 and M252 are in and people don't necessarily want to have to recode from scratch if their implementation is all 'wrong'... although I'm sure models/textures are WIP among modders

That is nice, but that is merely a crater model on top of the terrain. No terrain deformation. But still, I agree it is better than nothing.
On that note, how hard is it to make individual parts of a vehicle model destroyed/damaged like we see in modern flight sim. (for both land and air vehicles)
not that hard, last time I tried though physics didnt work correctly for the whole vehicle if only a part thats sticking out collided, this might be fixed now though

I think he means that militaries be it from upper command down to the individual soldiers when enveloped in war dont have much care for such laws, it goes both ways in a conflict but is not the case for all soldiers

I can see save setting button but there is no load button.
Will there be oceanic servers for the workshop? Currently it takes me 20mins to upload 500mb
Also will there be the ability for modder's to just edit there workshop, descriptions, change logs, and pictures? without having to re-upload the hole mod/terrain every single time?

Question for the devs: Did popular mods like ACE3 and Task Force Radio influence your decisions and implementation of systems in game, like the vastly improved VOIP and radio system present in Reforger, and the new medical system, interactions, refuel/rearm, inventory, armor, weapons, et cetera? Or were these things that were always planned for the new engine regardless of the popularity of these mods?

In a RFI very long time ago they said most of the development team will move to A4 after finishing the public reforger roadmap, I have seen comments that after 1.0 release a good portion was already transfered to A4 development. Does anyone have better clarification? Doesn't really change much but really interested in that

The answer is probably: nobody outside of BI knows, they probably won't tell you, and that RFI is the latest official information.
Might have worded it poorly, RFI said that most of their forces are working on Reforger to complete the roadmap and then focus on A4. I have been seeing comments lately saying that a large portion of the development team have already been moved to A4 after Reforger 1.0 release. I don't remember any "official" source saying that so my question kinda is if there has been any comment about that.

And considering the massive progress post 1.0 (including in the latest experimental series of updates), seems unlikely to me.

I mean, idk, I felt that the restrictions given are strict enough to ensure that monetization wasn't abused in A3, and it gave a decent income stream for communities to be able to afford their servers. I never ran into issues with servers on A3 that would be pay to win or full of microtransactions or something.
if you cannot afford a server, or you cannot have players voluntary donate towards a server, then maybe you shouldn't have a server to begin with....
And ultimately having an income stream that isn't dependent on a relatively thin trickle of donations with no counter-value helps get communities of the ground and stimulates more mod development (particularly since most workshop stuff will be under APL)
With how godawful the current under-the-table "monetization" of servers/gameplay is currently i wonder if officially sanctioned/moderated monetization would improve or worsen things
how does it stimulate mod development? As a mod developer i had a lot of headaches removing my mod from monetized servers (despite the hardprint EULA that clearly stated -> no monetization allowed) + BI rulebook that also stipulated you cannot monetize modes without explicit permission
there really isnt much change in standard us army kit. into the 90s. mid 90s you see introduction of helmet clips for night vision goggles ( flip up/flip down) otherwise wearing the same stuff. late 90s maybe gradual introduction of M4/M4a1.
despite all that, the average behaviour was = will will use whatever mods we want, and will remove if anyone catches on
though im sure people would want early to mid 90s just becuase SOF stuff like ranger body armor.
That's an issue of rule enforcement, not how the rule was formulated. The communities I was part of were pretty good about not using mods without the appropriate licenses, and developing their own mods when they couldn't find a non-APL mod to fill the gap.

yeah I think thats a good CDLC or expansion pack path for A4. Desert Strom 91, and 1993 gothic serpent, to have the sandbox painstchemes but retain alot of the retro stuff, with a bit of new stuff.

Yes, I understand the current EULA, thank you. In A3 and DayZ however you were allowed to monetize within a limited, and in my opinion, very reasonable scope. In my eyes that helped stimulate the community, meaning that people could run servers without dropping $1200 a year.

i strongly disagree. especially for dayz that is a cesspool in terms of anyone following any rules, and BI dropped the ball on that one long time ago
you report them via DM, MarioE is the main person to report it to, but most such reports are being fowarded / handled by any moderator around here just as well.
I don't think anyone realistically expects having some return on investment running a video game community. But having the prospect of not having to sink only personal money into hosting undeniably will provide the opportunity to have more communities out there, and I genuinely don't understand how that can be a bad thing. Especially since if you dislike servers using the monetization program, you can join a community that doesn't use it.
the only real downside that I can imagine being an issue is misuse of mods not licensed for commercial use, as you mentioned earlier. At the same time you could argue that not having an official pathway to monetization will just lead to EULA-breaking or under the table monetization which is even less enforceable.

The funny thing is, a moved-further-up version of this is what Arma 3 did... with the poorer factions being the users of 2000s gear, e.g. the AAF aesthetic and lore
AAF was a good faction, liked their mix of british, russian, and german gear
I don't recall Russian gear for them... but yes, in A3 the idea was that the 2000s gear from Arma/Arma 2 was now outdated or long-since decommissioned for service equipment used by NATO forces (Armed Assault wiki)
Whereas the infamously tanky NATO and CSAT uniforms seem to be based on 'what if some of the Future Soldier-style ideas out there were real'

does anybody else have an issue where some keys are detected as pressing them repeatedly for as long as they're pressed? my change fire mode binding (on my mouse) won't just change once but it'll try to toggle on off on off.. very rapidly as long as I press the command so it's a bit of a roulette if I'll get what I want, thought it'd be a mouse thing but trying to assign another binding to Lctrl + spacebar and spacebar is being read twice so it's setting to Lctrl + 2xSpacebar every time
happens to other keys but not all of them, for instance, I tried setting inventory to "i" since that's what I had on arma 3 but whenever I try to open it it'll open and close instantly, thought it'd be some issue with assigning inventory to anything other than tab but I now think the binding works but shares the same issue as the other
That usually happens to me on high ping server. If I play offline in GM or solo conflict, it works fine.

No, load order shouldnt matter. There should be an error message at the top when it fails to do something.

you are most likely bugged, open the map and access the commanding wheel and then get out of the map and it should work

tell your friend to join you via steam (be online so friend can see you playing on his game tab, then open steam chat, right click on his account profile, join game, and it will start arma and join the same server you are already playing, if full, dont close game, alt+tab to steam chat, join game again)

For a big, heavy helicopter it shouldn't be so sensitive? It flies fine but slow speed maneuvering is kinda bad.

if its xbox, unsure... But PC it makes sense because you don't have a linear control (unless you're using a linear keyboard)
I've never flown with my mouse because its 10x worse imo, but you might consider dropping your mouse sensitivity & increasing DPI or other combos of that just to get a high-fidelity slow movement

I haven't heard good things about joystick support.
There's no weight in the back. It's just impossible to keep it steady trying to hover. It's like it's trying to lean back like the way it sits on the ground.
And sometimes my pilot doesn't even grab the stick and collective. Just rests his hands on his lap.. ffs I'm sure these are bugs.

Unsure about joystick support myself, check gamelplay settings for supporting mouse input with helicopters. I am unsure why your mouse wouldn't work with turrets though, do you have a controller or other non-keyboard/mouse input devices plugged in?
If so, I'd consider unpluging & restarting the game to test in gamemaster. I have played other games where having a joystick/controller/&c would cause some input problems. Additionally, i've never used it myself, but I know steam does an input layer sometimes to let you abstract inputs and use a contorller in games that wouldn't normally support controller input(or had notably bad support)

UAZ (among others) is also just super inefficient with default settings. If you are going full throttle and especially if you are revving high, you empty the tank fast.

The devs planned many things.
Roll up/down windows, windshield wipers, engage/disengage all wheel drive, etc.
One thing that disappointed me was I started the engine, released the handbrake and thought it was cool that they did this, then realised you don't have to do any of that and can just press W... I wish they changed that, so you have to press R and tap the space bar once to get going.
Set drive assist to none in game options
you got game on the wrong settings man, you need to set it to no driver assist through gameplay settings like marko mentioned, then you get full experience
no drive assist is some of the most fun. unfortunate that American vics are automatic for the most part. Driving in manual has some nice perks

Also pretty cool that wet surfaces have less grip, and it seems that locking up the brakes is a thing.
They don't actually drive 6x6. There is code for locked and open differentials but they are all actually limited slip diffs which make all power in a vehicle transmit to the slipping tire. The ability to switch the differential to 4-low and lock the diffs would really make it special
No ABS in vehicles so when you hit the brakes you cannot turn the wheel. It is actually better to pump the brakes in certain situations
But diff lockers would be incredible. They have some base script for it and the diff range selector has bones in the jeep atleast
Pretty sure controllers have analog braking, so that's the best way to do it.
In the settings the power was spread 30% front, 35% middle and 35% rear axles. Does this setting not do anything?
Hi! Is there a simple way to fix how a person holds this bayonet? Its base is an M9 pistol, I am ok with hand position, but want to rotate the bayonet 90 degrees.
im pretty sure you have to rotate the orgin axis by 90 degrees. but its better to ask in the enfusion section
Locked differentials have power evenly spread across each axle but it messes with your turn radius. LSD allows you to drive at higher speeds and turn but causes your slipping tire to be the only one that's getting power. The opposite of what you want for offroading. All axles are set to LSD in the workbench, I checked it the other day but there are options for open and locked differentials.

I don't understand radios in the game. There are static radios in the tools, and vehicles should have radios (some do in config).
field manual tells you the range, but the conflict radio towers amplify the radios.

Huh, never played on US before so didn't realize. Their backpack defaults to 48 and empty, while the Soviet one defaults to 42 and 48, however if you cycle off the 48 channel on the Soviet backpack you can't access it again (also never tried before). You can talk to other Soviet players on 48, however they weren't really interested in helping learn whether they were actually talking on 48 or if to them they were talking on 42 (however I assume they were on 48 and both had backpacks as well).

So I tried the AI driving in Game Master mod and it's pretty nice, especially with cycle waypoints. But at every move order waypoint they do a full stop then they continue. Is there a way to place a waypoint which they just drive through?

I personally wish thst when I bought gear at an arsenal it didn't have anything inside of it. I could buy the bayonet if I wanted... I've ended up with extra bayonets more than s few times because I affix mine before changing clothes in conflict

Low ready is kind of pointless anyway and the new animations that prevent your gun's barrel from clipping through stuff are better than low ready.
Some of them definitely have a squelch in real life.
Its dumb because you cant shoot in low ready, and most ppl can't even tell if you are in low ready or not. I rather be able to shoot instantly than walk 2% faster and look.. cool?

The low ready mode was one of those cool little immersion things that was added to reforger. I miss be able to use it and would hate to see it go altogether. I still want a proper pistol holster animation/state for the AI as well.

yes. also, one shouldn’t keep important files on a personal disk drive anyway in this day and age. There are git / svn repros available for peanuts, same with cloud storage. Also NAS solutions are awesome if you want a self storage alternative.

A unlimited cloud solution is 10euro/month. A git repro hosted on amazon is about 3euro a month. Not sure how one cannot afford that

You stated that textures are not uploaded upon publishing but if other people subscribe to the mod, they download the textures for say something like a custom camo for uniforms and such.
re-texturing right now means you will screenshot the original texture in workshop, then use that as base for whatever you wanna do using 2d raster software such as photoshop
original raw files are not uploaded. reforger’s file format is compressed, the original tiff or tga or png is not, hence the size difference

example. The svn git for a 5gb published mod is about 25gb-30gb worth of data.
that includes the 5gb compressed files and another 20-25gb of exported files.
The raw files are way bigger anyways (the editable ones, be it blender or max ir whatever files, the substance painter ones are about 1-5gb for each individual mesh)
not aure about things like script files or mission files, i guess these could indeed be recovered at some point, not sure it be has the capability to provide individual users with their files in an unlocked fashion. Just for reference, no matter where the files where uploaded from (in terms of account) these files are always locked if downloaded by the same account that published it on the workshop anyways.

Was something changed with the clouds? Im getting a significant perfomance hit now when more clouds are present. Clear skies has the highest FPS and rain the lowest. I don't remember there being a noticeable FPS loss previously.

When the game clear entities script initiates, it removes both soviet and US demolition charges from inventory spaces
US explosives disappear when you drop and pick up the gear they're in

Hey guys, long-time Arma player here. Just bought and booted up reforger. I'm getting lower than expected frames, even at the lowest of low graphics settings. It seems like my CPU and GPU utilization are low (i7 6700k and GTX 1070). GPU utilization is actually higher at lower graphics settings. Anyone have an idea whats going on? I would have expected to get good frames like I do in DayZ considering the same engine.
dayz and reforger dont have the same version of engine tho

So i restarted my PC. at the training firing range on high getting 60-80 now. at the main base 40-50. slightly better than before. it seems like my utilization for both CPU and GPU have gone up and the game is actually using them
I will try multiplayer later. Still more ultization than Arma 3 haha

on 1.2 I would say modded servers run faster because nitrado uses dog water processors, and the update made server processor usage worse
