I agree with the sentiment that more blood and gore will make it more appallable. Make the war seem less heroic, than say, the main menus cool sounding heroic music might make it seem.
HLL does it similarly, where the main menu is bright and colorful and there's glorious music.... Then you get in game, and it's a staunch 180 from that.
Movies like All Quiet on the Western Front, and shows like Band of Brothers show off what war is actually like, instead of glorifying it by censoring it

The best way to be anti war is to show how brutal it can be. If you censor war and violence you show people that the consequences aren’t as bad as they actually are. Same thing with Children’s media. If you show the good guys fighting the bad guys and nobody actually dies, you show children that warfare and violence doesn’t actually hurt anyone.
No, there are prompts to unbind controls but last I looked they didn’t do anything

The game will never attract a consistent playerbase with so many disconnects and server crashes still happening like 4 months after release. Pretty sad. Player numbers are almost 0 on PC and like around 100 on xbox ?!

I've already seen the Colt 4x20 and the Sa-58P in a screenshot in the recent Dev Report #14, along with a second screenshot that has been guessed to be Arland, so it's possible that the upcoming 0.9.7 will still be released to stable branch (and declared to be Ground Support milestone) by the end of this year
The only promise Bohemia Interactive has made about Arma Reforger post-launch is that it'll be supported up until Arma 4 is released

According to an Arma Reforger Branding & Marketing Guide leaked right before Arma Reforger's announcement, yes... although that was half a year ago now
I don't really agree, for at least one obvious reason: everyone wants gore in games, so clearly it's not that appalling. It's not real human suffering, it's virtual human suffering, which makes it very easy to get used to. It doesn't make the game less enjoyable to play, it clearly makes it more exciting and gritty as graphic violence and gore is something that movies/tv shows/games have been pushing more and more for and audiences eat it up (see Game of Thrones, The Boys). If gore in games actually made people hesitant to play or something I might agree, but that's clearly not the case. It just makes the game more of a realistic murder simulator/power fantasy experience and isn't really pertinent to the focus of the game.
Anyone who has watched a lot of combat footage will be quite familiar with the fact that people getting shot/blown up in war doesn't generally result in much visible blood and gore as is typically depicted in games. Not that it never happens, but it's not the norm, and when it does happen it's nothing like how games depict it
Even Arma 3's little cloud of blood that appears when people get shot is generally not something that happens in real life, let alone the mods that make people explode in a big cloud of guts or lose all their limbs when a grenade goes off nearby
Seeing death on a screen is never going to hit you the same way it does to see it in real life, so I think trying to make the violence maximally visually realistic is just gratuitous. Before you go about adding a bunch of gore to make it more violent it would make more sense to start by adding random personal memorabilia into soldier's pockets so that you search bodies and find e.g. a photo of the soldier's wife and kids or pets or something. If that sounds like an absurd idea then the motivation to add more gore is clearly just wanting it to be more violent for violence's sake and to be more exciting, not to actually make it more anti-war.
This is much more in the vein of what Bohemia Interactive did with Laws of War
Yep, I think BI understands all this pretty well so I doubt we're going to be seeing Ground Branch-style "I'm edgy and browse /r/watchpeopledie" death physics

When it comes to 'authentic/realistic' I definitely think that the backlash to the Arma 3 aesthetic (which to is almost a decade old now) has skewed some people's impressions of both what's out there (read: fits the literal definition of modern) and how widespread some of the 'OP' technologies have become already

Seeing as when these designs were coming to public knowledge, though, I thought it was a case of the definition of modern marches on... and not every one of those players reconciling with the fact that what they wanted had become historical/past

Didn't a BI devblog admit that some of the blood effects were heightened because some players wanted more obvious hit location?
I think the medical update in 0.9.7 gets limb specific hit points, so I guess this will mean also the possibly for limb specific hit effects. And with increasing the amount of blood effects this should be decent improvement, especially at longer ranges.
... this reminds me that Call of Duty actually did include limb-specific hit effects on Infinite Warfare
In that game's Specialist and #YOLO difficulties chest damage = overall accuracy decrease, leg damage = hindered movement, right-arm damage = extreme visual sway when aiming down sights (although unlike Arma 3 the actual crosshair center isn't effected), and left-arm damage = almost no equipment use (except for the Nano Shot healing item), aiming down sights, or even melee 😱
it's better than an actual hitmarker. and believable hit reaction is complicated animation. see: ARMA 3 weird flinch. but I think puff of dust is generally more realistic than a big cloud of blood.

That's acceptable imo, it's not super realistic but it's at least somewhat believable and it's not too overdone, and obviously better than CoD hitmarkers or something
That's not the same thing as adding like dismemberment and big blood spatter on walls and all that Hollywood stuff that adds nothing to the game, it's the combat equivalent of gratuitous sex on TV; might be vaguely related to the subject but definitely not essential to the core function, and is mostly about being shocking and exciting for the audience
Reforger is PEGI 16. i.e. there will not be dismemberment as you need an 18 rating for that.
I agree with what you say, but I'd argue the amount of violence/brutality really depends on the conflict and time period too.
And then you have Doom. Sure you can argue you are killing demons, but i dont think gore ever turned anyone away from games, nor is it making them anti-war. Some ppl just enjoy gore in games.
Come down to realism, standard small arms munition/grenades wouldnt cause some movie like decapitation or torn limbs.
Youd get that by .50 cal or larger caliber, or focused explosions like ap mines, or high caliber artillery shells.

Yes there is gore, but its more of a psychological side of the movie that sets the score, showing initial excitement of going to war, just cause all your friends are going, that quickly dwindles until you go numb to events around you.

The first film has gore, but does not take up much screentime, making it feel more impactful when it shows such extremes, especially since it's written by one who experienced such things. The 70's movie has little at all, and still gets the plot told very well. The new one is definitely a movie.
Back to Reforger. The problem with Gore in a game like this is that it not only increases the rating, but also means it turns into constant spectacle. What is the difference between killing someone in multiplayer with or without Gore other than "wow that's nasty looking".

I still fail to understand how you would convey that in video game, for example in the movie it shows build up of character and you feel something when you see them lying in a mud with leg torn off minutes later.

Correct. But games can also carry emotion and tell a story. It's pretty clear that this is not the focus of reforger, so it makes sense not to show such levels of violence.
Laws of war was awesome campaign. Doesnt change the fact that me and my friends use ... indiscriminate measures... against civies in ops (just something that might get in the way between a bullet meant for the enemy). Unless zeus threatens to kick us if we kill them (even on accident).
Yep as ive said, its impossible to convey that in multiplayer environment, you aint gonna feel sad because your friend died infront of you, if anything you will record it with added caption "git gud"
And that's perfectly fine, since at a base level you know that what you are doing is wrong in a real world scenario.
In such a expansive game with multiple ways to play and things to do, adding such realism takes away from the "fun".
Instead of hitting someone with a car being a funny occurrence, it becomes a legitimate tragedy graphics wise. Falling from a great height is sickening instead of a funny mishap.
But yeah, more gore in my opinion is not needed. If you want that extra "Ufff", there is already a mod for it.

Most people's reaction to gore and violence in games is "haha awesome" which is why people use mods to add it in, most people aren't adding it in because they find it disturbing and want to make the game more unpleasant to play
And in my experience the same thing is even true for showing graphic imagery from real life, since it's just a video of a stranger getting blown up or mutilated, people grow used to it very quickly unless they are particularly mature in their empathy and critical thinking
It's why you go onto e.g. /r/combatfootage and half the comments are garbage like "boom, headshot!" and "double kill!" and other video-game related crap posted on a video of actual people being killed
People don't see gore/violence and try to put themselves in the shoes of the person dying, they put themselves in the shoes of the shooter

As a modder yes. But as a player them random jank bugs are frustrating. Like that TK really made public servers unplayable. And it still annoys me when my ADS bugs out.

I would have submitted a report but I can't figure out how to reproduce it, the game would just freeze with driver errors in the log sometimes
one time I am running around with like 20 people with flashlights on and the next day I'll crash when one of them turns on, maybe it's nothing to do with the light after all

I feel like increasing the amount of light sources just increases the possibility of a crash, but no idea how I can run alongside 20 of them sometimes and be fine

I've had this thought as well, also might be because the weapon ones are not set to dynamic so may not be well optimized, but if I set them to dynamic I might as well delete the mod because the game will force settings for them I can't change such as the size of the spotlight
Also perhaps related to graphical settings. I run my game on medium, since my pc is oldtimer, and never had issues with it.

Try with reduced setting and see if it persists
no difference, enfusion is the only engine that gives me this issue (at least as far as the directx/driver stuff in the logs is concerned)

In that case things changed only after BI was able to claim a major update instead of a string of weekly or biweekly updates... which instead went to experimental branch leading up to 0.9.6 stable

Yeah these major updates sure do better than a wasteland of minor updates that may or may not fix anything. Cause ppl will give it a try after update, but if update is every week they will stop giving it a try after a while. So if update brings more stability and content it sure is better.

Right now one of Reforger's issues that may or may not ever be resolved is the lack of an in-game mission Editor; currently it can only be done with the Workbench's World Editor, which doubles as the terrain builder
Eh if gm had a way of saving/loading i can live without the editor (on server). I am fully aware that its not a4, and that it will have limitations. But seeing how ppl build a huge ao only to loose it half way thru the op, i have slight disdain towards making any op on reforger.

Server cant be hosted on xbox. But if you rent a server, depending what you rent, you will most likely do it thru some web interface by server provider.

Certainly, but then I would not call that a hotfix. I'd say a hotfix is an update that fixes a critical issue that needs to be resolved as soon as possible. It's arguable whether any of the current issues with Reforger fit that criterium

BI's own CEO almost a decade ago: The library of content present in Arma 2 is simply overwhelming, and in hindsight might not be commercially justifiable for a single game.

It was a mess because "DayZ development" was most likely a thinly-veiled codeword for "Enfusion development." BI can't have just been sitting around twiddling their thumbs all that time, so I think all that time was spent developing new infrastructure
It seems to me that DayZ was sort of a guinea pig, a convenient second-class title for BI to sacrifice for the development of Enfusion
Seems it wasn't enough since now we've got Reforger which is basically the second iteration of the same idea, especially with the clear push for console accessibility and raking in a broader audience
I'm not necessarily complaining, building a new engine these days is a ridiculous undertaking so it doesn't surprise me that steps like this are required to pull it off. We'll see when Arma 4 comes out whether or not it was worth it.
The thing is, no other engine has the combination of specific features and maturity that RV has in Arma 3. To get all the features in a new engine that people expect in a mainline Arma game, while also being a step forward and being more modern is a huge undertaking.
With DayZ, they were able to build out things like graphics, the character controller, and scripting (iirc, and just as a few examples). With Reforger, the focus is more on the military sandbox features of Arma.
Remember that A3 had a similar path of releasing early, having fewer features, content, and mods, while having more bugs. I'd say that worked out pretty well, when looking at it today.
The main difference is that A3 still had all the core facets of an Arma game; the terrain, the convenient scenario editor, the intelligent AI, the AI commanding/squad leading stuff, and a fairly diverse set of equipment and vehicles, even if there weren't that many of them
The fact that Reforger lacks the traditional scenario editor and AI stuff makes it feel like a very different game, so it's no surprise that the Arma userbase isn't that into it, especially with the issues it has
Being able to plop down a bunch of AI and whip up a singleplayer mission and direct the AI through some assault is where a lot of people racked up their thousands of hours
Fair enough if BI is aiming to try something different to capture some of the console market but it's not surprising that nobody is playing Reforger since it lacks that core tinkering loop that all the other games have had
The Enfusion editor is obviously absurdly powerful but it doesn't seem to lend itself to rapid iteration, and the lack of commanding AI (even dumb AI) means there's nothing to do

i absolutely love the pvp experience on reforger the game mode and flow of it was nearly non existent throughout all arma titles.
Part of that likely because of things like KOTH taking the spotlight or other community content. Its just a really nice change.

Hey when ever I try to join a Server I run into a problem were I cant join . It says something about the game couldn't run with the selected mods and then shows an entire list of mods that belong to the server. Anyone able to help.

but it's hard to know without seeing the log, and on xbox it's not possible to get it (but if you're on pc you can check what the reason is inside the console.log file)

ScenarioId and modId are two diffrent things, there can only be one scenarioId, which tells server which mission/scenario to load, and you can have multiple modIds within mods aray, this tell server which mod(s)to load.

One of the problems I see with this is that there are giant rock models hidden underground all over the place on Everon which means that even if you could remove the terrain skin there is a model that will get in your way too

and/or for BI to figure out how to deal with -- we're in the alpha of an alpha for a reason
but the benefits to having trenches w.r.t. mission/game design are substantial imo, so well worth it
there's already terrain deformation in Arma 3 after all, having a more easily usable version of that would be nice. And this is probably the right time to start considering it for Reforger/A4
no runtime terrain editing right now
there is a cute trick though, there's a material type that "copies" terrain underneath, so you can have "terrain grass" over your trench model and it may blend with terrain very well

what's the full error message? you can try saving your config file, reinstalling server

On initial impression the commands are minimal, basically 'AAA arcade-y shooter' level (unlike players, GMs can order their AI entities to ignore enemies on the way to their destination, to walk with their weapon lowered, or to defend a position without moving away, and a mission maker has almost triple the number of waypoints that a GM has)... on the other hand AI units can join/unjoin the group dynamically seems to me to be a first-in-the-franchise thing 🤔
That doesnt sound like a bad thing to me. Personally i always felt that the AI was just WAY too concerned with trying keep in formation with their squads leading them to use strange pathfinding or guarding ridiculous angles regardless of the direction the primary or only known threat was. Sounds like they broke it all down to raw base AI and will rebuild something new from there
Haven't played Reforger since the first month of its release; how are the connection issues now? Can I play for more than 5 minutes without getting disconnected?
Best way to know, is to try it.
The game is great, those bugs that were after the release have already been fixed, but there are very few players on the servers.

Yeah, I'll give it a try. Most games have been pretty dry for me recently so anything that seems remotely interesting will be enjoyable for me.
Try the dark souls games, Foxhole, War of Rights, Gunner, HEAT PC, Stalker Anomaly, and Ready or Not

MP milsim experience does not really happen that much in public games anyway. Public games tend to be more casual gaming than organized gameplay (at least that's how I think of what milsim is)

Disable all mods, update server by steamcmd or via your host provider. Restart in vanilla, confirm it works. Start adding mods, some may be outdated and will cause server to not boot

Port: set it to whatever you wish
Bind IP address: Make it blank or leave it be.
Bind Port: set to the same as above "Port"
Then port forward the whatever port you used above on your router. And you should be good to go online.
Mind you your ISP has to allow port forwarding, and router has to have an option to do it (most do)
If you want to "host locally" the IPs and ports should be prefilled when you open hosting and it should be pretty much good to go for this case. It should be publicly visible if your network is set that way.

Names might be misused probably. Ip (the first one, called just "IP") is by default 0.0.0.0 and bind ip is prefilled with your ip. You can pretty much left it default and ignore the warning. You can send your friend what in bind ip and bind port and they can try to use direct join.
Has anyone figured out how to fix the crashing in the game?
No... the last that I saw from devs on this was a few weeks ago... developer Nervevarine:Fixes to both happen all the time. As for the replication error - it would be amazing to have one magical "fixed error X". Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way. These issues can be caused by virtually any sort of network desync, when the network can't keep up and so on. Because of the nature of these things, fixes for most of them are usually disguised as something else, say "fixed picking apples from the ground" (sorry for the lack of a better example). If the apple is picked up only by the player and left on the ground on the server this is a desync and a potential disconnect candidate. Of course, every time there's a fix/tweak done to our replication layer itself we say so in the release notes. In other words, the more the game code gets polished over time the better it gets.#reforger_experimental message

And BI having brought that to PS4/XB1 means that the principle is known to some console players... not sure how much people would want it for Arma 4 though since it also controls stuff like 'hold to raise weapon, press something else to fire, and something else for ADS'... but also melee (have to put your fists up before you can punch, no cold cocking someone)
This being opposed to Arma where lowering the weapon has been an active action/toggle, not the default state as with DayZ

How transferrable is the code from DayZ to Reforger? I was told by people that it shares a similar engine, but that felt like an odd statement and didn't seem accurate
I’m not a dev, but I’d say not as easy as people think. While their are components of Enfusion in DayZ, true, it is based on a hybrid of RV and Enfusion. While Reforger runs on a branch and build far different than the aforementioned. I suppose it depends on exactly what things you might transfer. Models? Probably a little easier with some work than straight code.

We have implemented a hand storage already with animations to carry e.g. a log of wood on your shoulder. Given an animation for a crate we could also have a two hand carry in front thing going. Not really that hard to do, and it would be even easier for BI to do with clean animations made by them in house 🙂
Not transferable in the slightest. DayZ and AR scripts share the same syntax but their approaches is entirely different, because AR uses a component system, DayZ does not. Anything that interfaces with existing game aspects will need to be re-done. Only something scripted entirely independently like a custom data struct wrapper or some scripted algorithm can be brought over.

Ranks reset with every new match because they are used to spawn vehicles. It's a feature.
You can head with bandages but if you got hit twice in two different spots, you will have to bleeds and will need two bandages.
You completely heal back to full health with time. It slowly regenerate.

"If you have stutter, goto the executable file and right click and choose properties. Then in the compatibility tab check the box for Disable Full Screen Optimizations. Game on!"

All three should be green, if they're not, you don't connect to backend services and it would be some networking issue

sometimes it just works by trying again. Or could be a mod issue. Or it could be something else, check console.log in your profile folder if you are on pc

it should give you an error as to which mod isn't loading, then go to mod manager and disable that mod, might be needing an update.

Hello maybe this is the right place to ask but last night one of my guys threw a bad frag and the rest of my guys were bunched up watchin it happen. Frag went boomy, everyone died, our mlb pitcher got banned, everyone had a pretty bad time. Any way to turn off this team killing ban feature on my server or are we stuck with it?
I think its possible via game mode parameters, but i havent looked into it, to be fair. I can check later today. Also, it would only be possible if you own the server.

Do you think there will ever be a core mode? Maybe adds a reticle for hip firing and map markers and a waypoints? I’m aware the experience is meant to be realistic and I love that about the gam but any plans to loosen the knot a bit?

Must be quite a difficult issue if it's hausing so much havoc over such a big period of time. What I'd do is just to make a test server, get some people on there and stress test it, then document what everyone was doing at the time of the crash. If the server log doesn't show any obvious signs
Based on the two experimental branch changelogs after 0.9.7/Ground Support's public release, it's basically 'anything and everything can crash the game and we can only fix them as we find them'
This appears to me to be why the changelogs' 'Fixed: Crash' bullet points are so specific
I feel it can be tracked down somehow though. Yesterday Archeix (a GM) ran a server on Official and it ran for a huge amount of time before it finally crashed. Then other times the server just dies not long after it's up. There's clearly some specific things that you can avoid doing to make it last longer

A few days before that, BI dev Nervevarine:Fixes to both happen all the time. As for the replication error - it would be amazing to have one magical "fixed error X". Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way. These issues can be caused by virtually any sort of network desync, when the network can't keep up and so on. Because of the nature of these things, fixes for most of them are usually disguised as something else, say "fixed picking apples from the ground" (sorry for the lack of a better example). If the apple is picked up only by the player and left on the ground on the server this is a desync and a potential disconnect candidate. Of course, every time there's a fix/tweak done to our replication layer itself we say so in the release notes. In other words, the more the game code gets polished over time the better it gets.#reforger_experimental message
Speaking of desync, aren't vehicles clientside for now ? Couldn't that cause some issue ? I feel that matches without vehicles are more stable. But again this would be perfect to test in a non-public closed server with testers who document themselves.

In DayZ you have the server correcting your position (you will slightly shift to the side and so on), in Reforger this issue does not exist due to them being clientside

hello, i have a problem that im gonna ask here first,and then I can move it to where it would be suitable by your guidance hopefully.
I use 42" 4k tv and usually I would play windowed 2560x1440 at 60 fps lock. my configuration can handle that load like melted butter ,and my eyes and neck are thankful when I play on a smaller portion of tv instead of fullscreen.
Reforger worked "normal" until 2 days ago. First problem was when I launched reforger from steam launcher,I could see the process starting in taskbar, alt tab also showed it but when i "select it" it doesnt show up on screen. no matter what I done I couldnt get it to "see" the game.
So i reinstalled the game,drivers and it hasnt helped. after i deleted user files I finaly got to "see" the game and I thought it is finaly done and working.
But sadly,ever since that happened I more or less cannot play in windowed mode.
In windowed mode everything is flickering,the screen is lagging,menus are overlapping,allround mess,you cant even see what you are doing/clicking.
curiously,once I get on server it is working good,until i press escape to go into options or tab to go into inventory. at that moment the bug comes back until I go back out of options or inventory.
if I switch to fullscreen everything works fine,but it just doesnt suit me.
if I put 4k resolution to fit my screen,my pc cant handle it at 60 fps.
if I put lower resolution it looks like crap fullscreen.
+I am relatively close to my TV when on pc,so 42" fullscreen is too big for comfortable gaming,and I got no good option to back up my seating position.
I mean,the thing that bugs me is that it was working just fine since the day I bought it many months ago,and now just poof nope,not anymore.

I will note however that for now the content creation tools are PC exclusive (and require one to have Reforger on Steam at that)... currently Xbox Series X/S players can only browse and download user-generated content (mods and custom game modes/scenarios) from the in-game Workshop, or connect to servers running said content
The devs have indicated that an in-game scenario editor will be coming for Arma 4, but that's not the same as promising that it'll ever come to Arma Reforger

Is Reforger worth buying now that it has been out a fair bit? I know it's had it's fair amount of buggs (like most games).
That decision is on you.
Still has lotsa issues, crashes, bugs, lack of official content.
But overall game isnt bad.
So if you cant look past crashes and bugs (some of which are very common) then i guess wait couple of more months. Or give it a go for 2 hours and request steam refund if it doesnt suit you.

This is also part of why this week's 0.9.7 update was called Ground Support and came with less content and features than what was advertised in the roadmap published on August 1st, although they've since promised to release the rest thereof in the coming months

There is still disconnect issues, yes. But I would recommend you check out the Combat Ops on Arland. It is by far the most stable gamemode of Reforger and a different experience in my opinion. 
So can we expect facial expressions at some point ? Blinking of eyes, mouth moving to voice accordingly, pained expressions when injured and so on ? Right now the characters are so emotionless.

Making a hind or hip from scratch could take many months. It's not an easy task to model vehicles that meet the new standard of quality we see in Arma vehicles. Buying one of decent quality is in the range of hundreds of dollars US. One of the reasons the Redline team passed on making them.
You could use the A2/Take on Helicopters hind, but it's kinda garbage and you are better off making one from scratch with the amount of work it would need to convert them to the Reforger format. Less so with the A2 Hip, but it's just going to become obsolete the moment BI drops their version with Air Assault.

That's the issue, If I try to raise my weapon with the newly assigned hold key, it infinitely switches off/on the safety

The way they work for now is that you simply extend your bipod through the inspect hotkey and then you go prone. I believe this will be expanded later on.

Why if you vote kick a person they can come back? We have a player who has been team killing and blowing up our stuff and still comes back

Doesn't that defeat the purpose of kicking someone from a server, at that point they should just remove the ability to vote kick if they can just get back in the server
Ban would remove someone for longer. If someone is teamkilling, my advice is, let them. They will get autobanned for 30 mins. Just dont retaliate so you dont get the ban.

It seems so, but it also poops out sometimes, where you are standing like 10 meters away from the guy, with clear line of sight and he sounds like rhino giving birth to a porcupine in a bathroom, while in direct they sound normal.

Just so everyone knows. Turns ur graphics to low if u want ur game to run smoother, it also barely makes a difference to how the game looks
I'd have to disagree on some things. Foliage smoothing, texture filtering and super resolution does make one hell of a difference. Some settings straight up eat half your fps for little to no change however, like Anti Aliasing. The difference between Off and 2x is there, but between 2x and 8x isn't much.
Texture makes a massive difference, it's a choice between a plain paper painted green and beige or proper ground texture.

Buggy game, bad netcode, sometimes you think youre hitting when youre not (realistic recoil and all that, iron sights dont always line up with the barrel of the gun), lag, you hit their gun and not them, etc etc etc, dont question it just reload and do it again

broken servers has really hurt the game and alot of the gun play is too fast for long term arma players
tbh if you're playing at prime time you can join a busy/almost full server and the idea of being dead or alive is irrelevant

Yes, I am able to do that, but that's not what I need. I need game audio separate from Windows, so that I can put it in a different track in a recording.
I know Windows has an option to change audio output for specific apps, but you have to do that EVERY TIME you restart the game. Alt + Tab every single time, then navigate through pages of settings. Tedious. I really don't see why it couldn't be included in the game to make life easier for the players.

It should be full auto, but unfortunately 1) the folding-stock is cosmetic-only (no gameplay mechanics difference now if ever), 2) afaik you can only get them off of slain FIA members and the ammo from their checkpoints (this is subject to correction), and 3) no sights, whereas the M16A2 now supports the Colt 4x20 and the AK-74 should eventually support the 1P29 (imagine an upside-down version of the iconic L85 sight called the SUSAT)

M2 with Tracers is a must honestly. The current sights are just straight up unusable. Especially with how clumsily heavy the turret is portrayed

I've sent vide evidence of a player blowing up player equipment and no response, the same damn player Carsomedan1 is free to roam ruining players games by just blowing up equipment to the point you can pull any more, you can vote kick him but he'll just come right back so a vote to ban people ain't to far fetched
A proper system to report greifers will be necessary for the future of the game. I don't like being able to vote ban someone, although the person who get kicked shouldn't be able to join the server until the match is over.

Is it just me or did the sniper rifles use to do more damage? It feels like now it’s a two shot kill from pretty much any range unless you get a head shot. Which kind of makes stealthy sniping not an option

Oh i havent seen "of nations" part, ignore that then.
If you are on pc tho, go to multiplayer -> hosting -> ignore all the settings -> load conflict of nations in mod manager -> select scenario -> press x -> and open that file

Go to Documents\my games\arma reforger\addons{conflict of nations guid}
Open serverData.json and you will find scenario id there

in general collision damage is an in progress thing I think, when I created a rocket propelled boxing glove launcher and used collision damage for the glove it didn't do anything
Not up to me in general, but it will be possible when they are server side authoritative (🔜).

Since the ''ambulances'' never came out with the main ground support update, does anyone know if that's still on the agenda and if so any idea when we may see them? i'm super exited to do some good medical work in!
I would guess still on the agenda; you can find some components and functionality related to ambulances in Workbench, suggesting they are actively being worked on.
We already know the exact ambulance the soviets will get. Viewable in the gamefiles. 
Official word is that the devs plan to get everything originally announced for Ground Support into the game before finally moving on to Air Assault... but because someone in leadership (Dev Report #15 only used the collective we) severely underestimated the complexity and difficulty of developing the game and its underlying requirements... no ETA

its never really finished, unless the engine proves itself unoptimal for use, even then maybe the engine was really good, then ppl take to their hands to bring it up to modern standards.
It's a really complex matter
That fully depends on the required features, size of development team, and stuff like that.
Usually companies need roughly +4 years to update an existing engine (see Bethesda games, or even Arma 2 to Arma 3), which of course are more advanced engines compared to the stuff used for COD (2 year dev cycle) or Battlefield (2-3 year cycle).
Building a completely new engine like Enfusion takes roughly 10-15 years from start to finish, even with a large development team. And this includes the development tools as well.
Of course Enfusion is already being worked on for several years, and is in working state plus has the Workbench to develop with. But it's far from feature complete, and BI is not only building the engine but also building 2 games with it (Reforger and pre-work for Arma 4).
