I know how headless clients work. I don't know anything about these mods.
I would strongly recommend not bothering with a headless client unless the server is struggling.
Especially since 2.20
what happened with 2.20?
Single process can handle more AIs than it used to, and it hits the cores harder.
So there's less need for HCs and it's also more difficult to run them without crippling the server.
I was planning on making a scenario like Evannex, with the amount of ai on the map at one time I figured I needed an HC to help mitigate the load
I havent been in arma since the profiling beta so I dont know if the performance is as strong

You need another instance of Arma 3 running to join as the headless client.
I have used both ZHC and Werthles and they both work fine and have different options.

i keep getting no message received after every like 30 minuteish in game
the crazy part is steam, youtube,... everything else worked normally
this only happen in my friend's server
and no other person is affected
my internet isnt bad either
during the no message thing i tested by trying to download something on steam and my internet reached 80mb/s yet arma still giving me that message

I've experienced similar issues with age of empires with my old modem.after replacing the drops stopped.
When I complete a scenario I've downloaded from the workshop, the lil tickbox doesnt fill like if its a bohemia made scenario...am i doing something or has this just been bugged for years?
Well I moved away from Werthles because it refused to work, the shortcuts it had could never join the server

I've recently purchased the Arma 3 Soundtrack on Steam and wanted to put it on an mp3 player. I copied the mp3 files and pasted them on a USB key from which I was going to paste it into the player (bit of a weird setup I know).
I recently received the mp3 player and wanted to paste the files into the device's memory. However, I then noticed that Arma 3's files took up over 90gb of space. Upon closer inspection, I saw that the "05 Zeus" album was full of garbled junk, unreadable files, some dating from 2011, and some from 2102, blah blah blah
Feels weird to ask but... Has anyone ever seen something so weird before? I'm currently running a system scan with an antivirus, so far it says that one threat has been found but idrk where as of yet
Looking at the steam depots and my local install I don't see any weird files, the total size for the soundtrack is ~2gb
try letting steam verify the "Arma 3 Soundtrack" files

sometimes the steam workshop local cache system and the launcher may get messed up and you could try deleting the whole steam workshop local cache that belongs to arma 3 with the client completely closed and run a validation/verify on steam

The files I'm talking about are copy pasted from the steamfiles, so they're not the original. I suspect that the 90 gigs of whatever the hell it is are probably the result of some corruption (the USB key on which it is is used in several computers running different OS's and Windows always tries to scan and repair the drive at launch). I think that me interrupting such a scan may have caused the kerfuffle. I'll save what I can from the USB and then format it. All virus scans returned negative, so there's that at least

hate usb sticks and learn to eject them before unplugging
you basically shot yourself in the foot by unplugging it and wearing it out with scanning and fixing
it also could be your own accidental duplication of the files
I do eject them all the time, but for some reason windows always loves to see errors on USBs that interacted with another OS, then to start a scan that never ends and ends up freezing my file manager for 5 minutes. The USB is relatively new as well, so I never scanned it before the incident. I probably ejected it less than 20 times in its lifespan.
As for accidental duplication, idrk how the files would end up looking like something from a bad creepypasta and being dated anywhere from 1984 to 2559

Well, it won't fix those profile files mentioned in the error message. That is gone unless you have a backup from before that happened.
You will likely start with default keybind and game settings. Depending on what other files got corrupted in your profile, it might affect saves too.
Would an uninstall and then reinstall work better you think?

Nope, not at all.

The file affected is in your Documents folder. Game only created that when first starting the game, or when saving settings. Your progress in that is lost.

You could open the file in any basic text editor and delete the affected lines with strange text/characters.
Worst case you can delete that particular file. As said, it should create a new file with default settings when you play the game.
What used to happen occasionally is that RPT output lines would get written into the .arma3profile

Hello, I have a problem with the game. Suddenly, I can't play on any servers because my lobby just doesn't work. Fifteen hundred hours in the game, and this is the first time. I provide a screenshot. The lobby shrinks to a pixel, with two scroll bar arrows. As I understand it, due to the fact that the game script cannot get my screen size.

rename the Arma 3 directory to e.g Arma 3.BAK
the game should recreate all that for you (be sure to keep the directory so you don't lose your settings)

from what I know, what you described can come from a corrupted profile or corrupted data (I may be wrong still)
if everything is checked (and you did; Steam-checked, reinstalled, recreated a profile, etc), to me… unless you did not do the steps properly (like create a new profile and not use it), it's definitely something else

A lot of people in the A3 community will put their Arma 3 profile on Github and use it as a back-up source. If you symlink the directory it is as easy as opening up Github Desktop (or git bash, etc) then commit/push. Here is Microsoft documentation on Symlinking if it interests you 🙂

✅ Solution: I delete BattleEye directories from AppData/Local, AppData/Local/Arma 3, and execute Uninstall_BattleEye.bat from Arma 3/BattleEye directory. After that, I run Arma 3 from Steam and tried to connect to a server and it's work, problem solved!

hey guys. Ive run into 2 problems in my warlords setup. Whenever me and my troops respawn after death, we dont respawn with the custom loadout ive assigned to us. Most of the times we respawn without guns and a totally different loadout. 2nd problem is that vehicles wont auto capture sectors like the infantry do. They just stand still and do nothing for the whole game. I would highly appreciate any form of help since I'm out of options to be honest

Profile corruption is pretty common but usually Arma just deletes the thing.

I have 32Gb RAM and 16Gb page file. How much more does this game need? Also, does the game really need all my 24Gb of VRAM?
set the page file to have it managed by windows rather than custom number and see if it helps. It could also be a mod or scripting issue.
The weird thing is, I also play the game with the same modset on an old laptop with 8Gb RAM and 16Gb page file, and never had such a problem there.
How come more memory is worse?

Well, something I suspected is that it doesn't clear stuff from VRAM until it runs out.
And all that memory needs to be system-backed in current windows versions.
So having 24GB VRAM just means that you need 16GB more swap than an 8GB card.
No performance advantage, because it doesn't actually use more than a few GB in the short term.
Ideally the VRAM cap parameter would work but apparently it doesn't.
So should I set the page file to 32Gb or managed by windows?

What's odd there is that it fails on a createTexture. You'd think that Arma would take that as a hint to clean out the VRAM.
Page file should probably be at least system memory + VRAM though, from my experience of how Windows works these days.
Also I remember running the game for like 8 hours straight without any issues a few days ago. And today it crashes after like 90mins
It's fairly odd that it found 24GB of textures to load. Most modsets don't have that much.
My laptop has only 2GB VRAM and the game usually uses 1700Mb on High settings.
Yeah, if you have 2GB then Arma handles that fine.
When you have more it just wastes space.

I've run into a strange issue and can't seem to figure out how to fix it. The unit I participate in just recently updated their modpack and since then I've been unable to zero my scope. I initially thought it was a mod or keybind confliction but I can still zero sights that physically move, like on 40mm grenade launchers, and it seems that others aren't having this problem. Even after unloading everything but ACE I still can't do it, I'm just out of ideas at this point.
Why not ACE? ACE causes 90% of issues and "issues".
i just wasnt too familiar with using arma without ace, i did just test it out and completely base game my zeroing seems to work, any ideas on what ace setting would be causing this?
ACE Scopes > ACE Scope Adjustments and controls of the same name.

removing all the scope zeroing keybinds doesnt change anything and none of the ACE scope addon settings seem to be changing it
You need to USE the keybinds, not remove them.
ive tried but those binds are for high powered scopes if im not mistaken and Im just trying to adjust a 4x that i could hold control and use the scrollwheel to adjust before
ACE considers 4x high power sometimes.
And most 4x scopes can't be zeroed at all.
the problem is though that I could zero it and now its permanently stuck at 300m whether I'm using it as a 1x or 4x

absolutely, I use the pitbull on nearly any rifle I equip
idk if im gaslighting myself or what but I have older clips where I had it equipped and ive had it ranged down to 100m before
Scopes with BDC reticles shouldn't ever be able to adjust zero because that would mess up the reticle.
it never adjusted the reticle itself, it just seemed to change the trajectory of my shots
i know it at least switched between 100m and 300m before when i went from 1x to 4x
That's my point. The trajectory would stop following the reticle.
yeah idk, but ive got several clips where I was clearly using that scope and it was set to 100m

Default is realistic. You can zero scopes that are supposed to have zeroing.

It doesn't overide. I think it depends on the scope which it uses (though, I've only encountered one scope that specifically uses the old system).
Well, ACE disables vanilla zeroing by clearing the relevant arrays from config, so if a scope lacks ACE compat data then it'll still have vanilla zeroing.
I mean that it only uses the vanilla zeroing. Don't the not set up scopes have both, but only the ACE adjustments work?

It wouldn't tell me anything. It doesn't say whats using up that pagefile space. It'll probably be something in the GPU drivers that's actually using it
Well you go back to a previous version, by getting and loading the previous version. That's the answer to your question. 
How you do that depends on the mod and where you got it from.
Its possible to get old versions from steam workshop, but its complicated and I cannot explain how to do it.
Any suggestions on diagnosing server freezes? We're starting to experience it more frequently where all objects stop moving, admin commands don't respond, and only VOIP works, but we don't get any freeze dumps nor log messages other than the following:

According to some players, the freezing is correlated to mission functions which Load & Unload ammo crates and such from vehicles, along with Drag and Carry functions for moving said ammo crate.

mostly, here's me following the alleged reproduction steps which involves attaching to a vehicle, then loading as ViV, then attaching to the player:
however, this didn't freeze my DS, so we're not sure if there were additional factors involved or if it was merely coincidental with some of the server freezes
It very much feels like unloading and carrying/dragging the object is what leads to the freeze, but we can't reproduce it.
It's not really unrealistic AFAIK. Vehicles can cookoff for a while like that. You can change its parameters in ACE's settings.

for me and the test server in the above clip yes, actual server is 2.20 stable with mix of both players

- arma itself + mods doesnt take up that much space (yes i know about the whole duplication thing) and when i try to update a single mod i get a disk write error, i already tried clearing download cache and defragmenting the drive

so it turns out for various reasons in various games the steam storage check was essentially lying to me and windirstat is revealing a lot more, currently sorting through it

however i just deleted 17 gigs worth of junk from another game yet steam says only 20 MB were freed

Make sure you actually unsubscribe from mods of those games, or else Steam will download them back. Just deleting a folder is not enough to clear space for the future.

Also, deleting folders usually just puts them hidden away in the garbage bin.
Ofcourse, if the drive is stuffed to the brim then Windows is going to generate disk write errors. You don't ever want to get near that.

I cannot for the life of me figure out why my liberation campaign is not saving.I am running mission on a dedicated server and I have located the root folder where it is supposed to be saving, yet all I see is a "cacheItems.map" file. I see that it says in the config file that it saves every 60 seconds. I also enabled the save instead of load in the mission parameters before launching. Is there something that I am missing? is there a save button or adjustment to the config file that I need to make?
It saves the scenario state in the server profile file: serverprofilename.vars.arma3profile
Has there ever been a explanation for the whole "Battleye not responding" issues that happens to Invade & Annex servers?
I think mostly just speculation that the server is leaving a battleye connection open after a sudden disconnect,
There's a new issue with it happening before players even get past the lobby though which is super frustrating
There's an old issue where if some stage of startup was too slow then battleye would simply time out. I thought that was fixed for 2.20 though.
The issue with the lobby was introduced (or uncovered by another change) in 2.20 and a preceding perf build

There is a second table in the RPT text log file that shows which mods it recognised you wanted them to be loaded (based on the commandline -mod= parameter) and a collumn in it show whether it found it or not. Sometimes there might be a folder for the mod on your drive, but it's contents have not been downloaded yet or just partially. Usually the cause of slow downloads or access permissions.

am using tfar, what i mean is:
You join the ts3 server. (in default channel)
then you join the arma3 server when your in the game you will be automaticly moved to a channel in ts3 (the new channel is ONLY for players who are in the game).
Hmm I don't have much experience with TFAR, I'm not sure if it does that, you may have to check the in-game addon settings
I do know that ACRE does that if you enter a channel name in addon settings
i just checked the addon settings for tfar, turns out all you gotta do is have a channel in the teamspeak with the name "TaskForceRadio". (or what ever name you want change able in the addon settings)

You need Teamspeak 3 to allow plugins to work. More modern versions of teamspeak don't work for that. TFAR and ACRE should have plugin files for Teamspeak 3 in their mod folders. in Windows 10 the file format is recognised after it is install. So you can double click the plugin to get it installed into teamspeak. I've heard from people with Win 11 this is not so automatic.

I have a player for whom the respawn menu doesn't show up when they connect to the server. They're the only one for whom it happens consistently, everyone else can usually connect normally.

My public server just did a restart and now its up and running but with a red dot next to the server name and stating "Unable to connect. Different mods or missing signatures" . I've tried everything i can think of but still cant fix the issue

Well, unload all the mods that you think do not affect the UAV issue. Then test in the eden editor with both sets. (the set where you think it doesn't affect UAV terminals and the set you think might affect) Then divide the set of mods that does cause this problem of turning a UAV terminal into a GPS. This list of mods is too long to narrow it down on it's own.

For example, you have 2 terrain mods in there. Those will likely not affect that, but you can only play on one terrain anyway.

Anyway, test with only the mods you actually need. Not a list because it is easier to load all at once for forever. Make specific mod lists that work.

Some people get modpacks (because of supposedly easier downloading) that contain older versions of well known mods.
But that path does look like the proper location.

I'm having a strange issue where textures of certain objects dont appear at all (aka, they are invisible) but the object exists in the world with proper physics. These objects are just base game airstrip platforms.
I tried multiple verifications and even reinstall to no avail. Any ideas why this might be?

Ok turns out I was on the edge of the map - however, if I look from a different angle, the textures are fine. Look at it directly - its invisible.

Tbh, I was a bit far away (outside of permissable map limit in the screen) and this issue continued to persist until it was between the map edge and the terrain edge

Me and some friends are gonna play Arma 3 today. We had a weird bug where med kits didn't give a prompt to heal only the first aid kits. 
The mission we're running didn't have this issue before and I tried it on my own server and it worked fine.
Think it'd fix itself if we reload the mission? 😣

MEDKIT don't heal people, you still need first aid kit. First aid only heals about 75-80%
Medkit + FAK + Medic trait = Full Heal.
server parameter may also change the setting to 100% heal via FAK

Yeah I know. In the mission editor all player units have always had this trait, which leaves me thinking either the upload or loading of the mission failed to load the player unit traits. 😩

Hello, I need your help. Some players keep getting kicked with the message "Signature check timed out"
I’ve already looked at posts on the subject, which suggest increasing steamProtocolMaxDataSize. I’ve done that (set it to 2048), but nothing has changed — the issue persists.
We have around 316 addons totaling about 14GB.
Do you have any ideas or suggestions?

well, you can turn off signature verification and then just let everything be completely broken.
What do you even need 316 mods for? In those cases I doubt more than half of them actually affect the gameplay.

Yes, but the initial goal was to be able to split things easily and allow players to download only the necessary updates from the addons. Even for mapping, it will be difficult to regroup some addons. However, if there is no workaround, what would be the ideal number of mods?
I think the max for the stock steam protocol size is about 18, with dependency on folder name size? So 3k steam protocol size (single fragmentation) would be >50 mods.
Some shitty old routers may not handle UDP fragmentation at all and then they'd be down to the 1.5k limit.
I don't believe most of the server are running with less than 50 mods with a verifySignature at 2 for milsim or life server
I don't know what garbage people run on life servers.
It's possible that steam protocol size can be pushed very high, but it's not a networking technology that's commonly used so it's not trustworthy.
If Steam doesn't do delta-patching already, you might be able to do something with Github to do that. You could also try strategically merging the mods in ways that would minimize the downloading.
When playing on a dedicated server, Arma3 on the server randomly crashes with an access violation.
My server machine works fine in milsim sessions, but the server app crashes in certain scenarios.

So many mods that the command line got clipped.
Also running -noLogs, which is pretty daft when you have a problem. RPTs generally aren't useful for diagnosing crashes though. Other than a lot of trial & error, all you can do is send the .mdmp files to Dedmen.

hi guys, ive recently reseted my pc, and i re installed arma and noticed that it keeps crashing, and my screen gets kinda stuck, only alt+tab works, but its still stuck, audio works, i re installed my gpu drivers, it kinda helped, but when i put on mods, i can play for around 5 mins before it crashes, and then i have to restart my pc again

Reproduce the error/stall/apparent crash with no mods at all. It could be due to them.
Even if you keep your mod list short. You want to isolate if it is due to a badly installed game/broken game/missing operating system dependancies. Or broken mods.

Don't do 21:9
Just choose Auto (Ultrawide Stretch) or non stretch and see if that works.
Or you can change the layout of the ui and move stuff where you want it

Hello all! I've been scratching my head for the past few days trying to use a headless client for a localhost server, since I want the performance benefits without the absolute physics jank of a dedicated server.
But no matter what I try the HC always get kicked with the error "steam authentication failed"
I don't even know if this is possible anymore or if it was patched some time ago, but I've read of people being able to do it so I'm banging my head against this right now trying to figure it out

If you are using FASTER for the Server, try their Discord as there should be some answers in there too.
The number needs to be large enough to work. There is no reason to try to keep it "low" just set it to a gigabyte or smth

Hi guys. I'm having issues with an arma 3 UKSF mod. At the moment, the L119A1 is said to be in the game howver whenever i equip it or any of it's attchments, there is no model whatsoever and my character is just holding air. I really need a fix for this so any help would be appreciated. I am also very tech useless
first try without any other mods to see if its caused be some mod conflict
if the problem still persists you will likely need to try to get ahold of the mods author to report the bug so they can fix it
Why do smoke mortar shells make like less smoke than a normal smoke grenade? It doesn’t even spread it’s just like a 5m radius circle of smoke.

So, our community encountered issue of stutter(every few seconds) that happens to everyone when we start outside of the map but it is not always the case(ie some missions don't have it all or it is very limited) and we can't narrow it down what causes it. Anyone encountered it before and maybe found solution? thanks
I remember that some time ago in perf branch channel mentioned that long range radars might cause that if the scan too far outside of the map but it also happens during WW2 mission

we do that quite often and it doesn't happen (usually) and I am trying to find out which makes it happen, atm it might be AI/turret, as removing VLS helped with fps stability (with VLS fps was 70 with drops to 20 every second/two, without it was 70 and occasional drops and during some tests without any drops, moving VLS from outside map to the map itself also helped a lot, same as removing VLS during first tests)

AI outside of map is likely going to be a big problem

Im trying to make a mission about the ww2 normandy airborne landings, i have planes controlled by AI pilots on a path to drop paratroopers and there is a german AA battery ready to shoot down some planes, but once i test the mission the AI pilots spot the AA guns and perform evasive maneuvers ignoring their flight path and scrambling, how do i make the AI pilots stick to their flight path and ignore the AA guns?

You don't need to uninstal them (meaning un-subscribe in Steam) The majority of them are likely fine. You just need to selectively disable them in the mods tab to test if it works or causes problems. Some depend on others, so might still not work if the dependancy mod is not enabled. When you are sure a specific one is faulty then notify the mod creator and ignore it or unsubscribe from it. Just don't use it.

I cannot load patients in to vehicles with ace3 mod, any help?
No matter what i do:
- Is the vehicle medical? - Yes
- Is the patient uncon. - Yes
Additionally i tried:
- Object state: Unlocked
- Playing as "medic" (also in the character settings)
Either i pick up the patient through the medical menu and then go to the vehicle and click "load" when it's there but it drops the patient in front of it - or i pick the patient through the menu by pressing the ace3 interactiom keys, then go to the vic. again press interaction -> load patient -> drops on ground in front of it.
Is there is a way to fix it?

its an HTML file, and when you import it into the launcher via the presets tab in the mods tab.
it will automatically load the mods you need and their exact load order and download the mods.
There is a discord but the invite on the server name is expired.

The download of Arma 3 is queued. Meaning Steam deliberately waits on something else. You can click on the "Manage downloads" in the middle bottom of the screen to see what it is waiting on. Maybe something else is downloading first.

Some players on our servers fix it client-side by setting the Battleye Server Port (to 2308), sometimes needing to uninstall/reinstall battleye. I wouldn't take that as an official fix though

These log lines are completely new to me and I don't know what they're from.
First thing to check is which branch the server is on. Main/Stable 2.20, or some performance/profiling branch. The latter does get early fixes, but can equally be broken after a new 'fix''.

i tested stable & profiling server and stable & profiling client, issue always the same, i also re-downloaded whole server in case something got corrupted but same issue

It looks to me as if the problem is with the current profiling version, possibly for Linux & Windows.
Once you have been on profiling, steamcmd always seems to stay on that branch unless you explicitly define the public branch (-beta public). Omitting -beta or defining -beta “” etc. does not work. So we used the profiling branch without realizing it.

This is the new battleye bug, if you stay in that lobby long enough you'll be kicked for query timeout.
Fixes so far are playing with battleye server port parameter, reinstalling battleye, or waiting for server restart
Looking for a mod or a way to add AAF to the BLUFOR faction so i can make a warlords game with AAF as a playable faction
For the players, just group the AAF units to a random Blufor unit and then delete the Blufor unit. I don't think that you need a specific Blufor AAF for the purchasable units, though you might have to do (which might be impossible) about the arsenal uniform restrictions.
I want to be able to enable AI on the squad leaders tho and that would make them hostile because i believe they revert to original ownership when the server launches if controlled by AI instead of a player. And also purchasing AAF units in the requisitions would make them hostile. For air drops and in can just select AAF arsenals. But it would just make life a lot easier if i could Port AAF over to blufor
I also want to add virtual support requester logic into the game and without porting over AAF theyd only be able to call nato supports

ChatGPT is absolutely useless. It will take you many, many times as long if you try to use it. At most you could make a program to automatically do some config stuff.
tbh its already done most of the work for me. It wrote the init, serverinit, description, and a bunch of other custom scripts in a previous warlords game i made. I just had to go through and check for unforseen conflicts. In terms of scripting in arma its been really helpful

It shouldnt be too complicated as mods go i just need to write a config that defines a BLUFOR faction “Altis Armed Forces (BLUFOR)” then clones core AAF soldiers/vehicles/air/statics to side=1 and finally add groups under BLUFOR so Zeus/modules can spawn them then just package it as a mod with the addon builder
