I'm thinking that pre-registration on the Play Store is done with a Gmail email address, while you can have a Perplexity subscription/account with a completely different email address... In other words, you can have a Pro subscription and be pre-registered, but it won't work for you.

Just got it, its really nice. Here you have my takes:

1. Nav bar could be much more slimmer, I really like the web content to pop out, the only browser that gets kinda close to that experience is Safari.
   1.2. Its really clunky to switch tabs or add tabs
   1.3. Design UX as other browsers is not really for mobile everything besides the nav bar is stuck at the top of the screen.
2. Widgets are even more scarse than the desktop version
   2.2 No android widgets, (not that the perplexity app does any better)
3. Perplexity Finance (heavy user on this one) is hidden a search away then you end up with double input text box.
   3.2 No finance widgets
4. I would really like to have a true oled black option.

desktop comet did it but on android after multiple prompts and tries it still could not do it

Yeah I would have the same question, but it was already the same problem with getting access to Comet on Windows. I don't know which kind of prioritization Perplexity is really following for inviting people into a beta but what I can say definitely is it's not first come first serve because in those cases I more or less registered on the day where registration was opened and on the Windows side I never got invited to the beta.
I received a code from a friend and I feared that Comet on Android will be the same. I have to wait until official launch because for some reason despite me using Perplexity every day and quite a lot I don't get an invite.
I also think that in general invitations are expressed to US customers only and not to people living in Europe for example. Prove me wrong if anybody here would not be from the U.S. and got an invite for Comet in Android?

I think you haven't quite grasped the key difference between Perplexity as a Search LLM and Comet as an Agentic Browser yet.

For me, the major difference is that with Comet as an Agentic Browser, I have an additional assistant that can access and interact with my browser windows. For example, I can summarize a newspaper article by simply browsing it and asking the assistant to do that, or translate it into another language.

Or let's say I have a thought or disagree with an article and want to write a comment about it. The Comet agent immediately has the context, and I can ask the agent to write a comment for me about this article. I can explain in my normal language what I'd like to say, and the agent simply formulates that response for me. I'll also be able to ask the agent to just post that response for me.

Another use case is filling out forms. Since I've already filled out many similar forms, the Comet browser actually knows what belongs in all the fields. It can help me fill out all those form fields without me having to type anything myself.

It's more like rather than searching and scrolling websites on Google, search on comet and the perplexity ai searches them for you, gives links to the site and other informations... Along with additional search on chrome that the user can do themselves... Right?

The simple answer is you can interact with websites you browse through voice or text. Ask questions, request help with doing something on the site, compare different sites with each other, close sites, open sites.

You can also say something like "open three different sites with racing bike deals under 2000 euros." It's like talking to someone who does the work for you, but always in relation to websites.

I haven't explored the phone version enough, and I do agree the desktop agentic functions are slower than me doing things myself (i.e., scroll through forum or social media feeds, finding posts meeting specific criteria for me to review/comment). Even though the agentic functions are a little slow, it still allows multitasking in that I can go do something else, like checking email, watch a video, wash dishes/laundry/etc while the agent does its work. I'm not spending time reading and scrolling through ads or irrelevant posts.

I’ve noticed a usability issue in the Comet app for Android. When viewing a thread from the Perplexity Library, the small arrow shortcut to jump to the end of the conversation doesn’t appear. As a result, I have to scroll manually through all the messages, which is quite inconvenient. Interestingly, this arrow is visible and functional on regular Android browsers, so it seems to be a Comet-specific issue. Could this be fixed in a future update?

That would actually cause me to use the Android comet app even more because I would just create shortcuts to Reddit and X.com as opposed to just using the apps on my phone. Cuz I would much rather scroll those sites using their mobile version through comet than the app just to have the benefit of having the comet assistant with me as I'm scrolling!

The more I use Android Comet (and just my phone in general after having got it), the more I'm realizing I wish I had the power of the Comet assistant/browser within the apps I've gotten used to using (LinkedIn, Reddit, X, etc).

To address this, for some of them, I just started using their mobile site within Comet, and that's working well. But for certain brands, their mobile site sucks!

In those situations, it'd be nice to be able to take a single post/page that I need the assistant's help with, quickly open JUST that in Comet. And I'm noticing that's technically possible through the "Share Via" feature that Android has built into every app. Here's how...

Click the "..." on any post in any app > click "more" or "share via" > the next menu gives you apps to choose from, one of which is the Chrome browser, which if you select, opens it right in that browser.

I've searched thoroughly in that menu, and it has browser options, but for whatever reason, Comet is not one of those options. I'm guessing that means the Comet team has to enable this feature or work with Android too include them in this list.

I would swipe to the right so see Google Discover (or whatever that news feed is), then open an article in that news feed (it has to be opened first, not shared directly from Google Discover), then used the ShareVia icon at the top of the article to share to Comet. The news article would load into Comet, next click the three dots in the lower left of Comet and the summarize button up top is disabled. Translate (which I don't use personally) is also disabled.

Today I've noticed a few situations where I'm coming across scenarios where I can't access a website. For example when I go to the new Ronaldo page for perplexity, it just has an endless "verify if you're human" loop. I click the checkbox, it loads for a while, and then asked me to click it again. And then in another scenario where I try to click on a publicly viewable ninjacat.app link It seems to say that I've taken some action and it's blocked. But in both of the scenarios I just described I can access them just fine on the regular Chrome Android browser.

It would be so helpful if when you highlighted the website domain it gave you a quick option to copy the URL or share it like the Chrome browser does for Android (example of both browsers UI when you click on the domain, attached below).

Sometimes I just need to copy the URL of a page to text or email it to somebody, so that would be the use case here.

I know I can technically get to the share menu by clicking the "overflow menu" dots and then "share", But after years of being trained to just click the domain and hit copy I guess it's a bit of a habit I got to break out of. This looks like an Android WebView + passkey issue, not the passkey itself. Comet’s embedded browser doesn’t fully support some modern auth and cookie flows yet.

Workarounds that should unblock you now:
1. Open the login link in an external browser (Chrome or system browser), complete passkey verification there, then return to Comet.
2. If it still loops, disable passkey for that login and use an alternate sign-in method once, then re-enable passkey later.
3. Ensure Android System WebView and Chrome are fully up to date (they share components).

Root cause (likely):
Comet Android’s WebView doesn’t correctly handle cookie prompts / passkey handoff, so the auth flow never completes.

Until WebView handling is fixed, using an external browser for auth is the most reliable path.

Honestly not a game changing app like Arvind has been claiming for a while now

i am sticking to Arc, awaiting for Dia on iOS

I even subscribed to Pro as soon I downloaded Comet but regretted later it. have now asked for a refund
