Perplexity is more for searching the internet, getting information around topics quickly, comparing products, and finding fast responses. The LABs feature of Perplexity is still another pair of shoes, but very relevant. However, ChatGPT has stronger abilities language-wise, formulation-wise, and context-wise, and it can do much more in-depth researches and have stronger abilities for reasoning (at least my experience). I have subscriptions for both, and I would not want to miss Perplexity. I'm more thinking about whether it makes sense to have ChatGPT, Grok3, and Gemini in parallel because I think they are more close to each other.

We just needed to register on Perplexity using our school email and click a redeem link in the Perplexity UI. The "Personal Search and Memory" setting may contribute to things like that though, but doesn't appear specific for that, unless you manually add I guess

I did just notice though, a setting called: "Share thread with Space"

presumably you could manually add those 3 specific threads you were referring to, and see if it understands it in your "fourth" thread (EDIT: I don't think it will, as the sharing thread with Space is more so others can read those specific threads within the Space, rather than adding to the AI knowledge-base etc)

(Opus3 being unlimited, then downgraded to limited, then removed because the new sonnet was "better". I wrote a script to pull a bunch of data and export to CSVs… like, a lot of CSVs. 250+. I would like to give these data to Perplexity for analysis, but it obviously can’t accept 250 uploads, nor do I really want to upload 250 files regularly. I can’t get the write to Excel function in my script to work even with the help of Labs. It just doesn’t populate the sheets consistently. Any suggestions for how to get 250 CSV files to Perplexity for analysis?

UI is one place Perplexity is a little less functional but IMO it’s superior in every other way. Run a complex prompt in Labs and never look back.

Yeah, uploading 250+ CSVs to Perplexity isn't practical at all. What I'd suggest is combining them either into a single Excel file (with each CSV as a separate sheet), or just merge them into one big CSV and add a new column to track which file each row came from. That way it's just one file to upload, and you don't lose any context.

Quick question about how Perplexity’s crawler handles redirects.

When asking Perplexity about a URL like https://www.f6s.com/oenache, it says it can’t access the page. That URL issues a standard HTTP 301 redirect to https://www.f6s.com/member/oenache. But if I directly give it the redirected link, it works fine and shows info about the page.

Interestingly, OpenAI’s crawler does follow the 301 from the first URL and has no issues.

So, does PerplexityBot (or the user-agent Perplexity-User) automatically follow 301 redirects? If not, is that expected behavior?

Hi, new user to perplexity here, I’ve been using perplexity for a variety of personal use cases and am absolutely loving the tool and wishing I could use it for work. (Work requires a different LLM that’s sandboxed to our environment)

One item I’m trying to figure out the best way to do is having a concept of a project. For example, I’m planning a bike tour. I’ve had perplexity doing a ton of research for me on all sorts of different facets of the tour. I do find myself reentering the same prompt to give it the same starter information about the tour. I’m also often doing this on different days, so not in the same session.

Is there a way you’re able to have perplexity create a project where it “remembers” or keeps record of information related to a topic you’re doing research on so I can add to an overall project rather than asking new prompts every time, or going back through my history of questions to find the original thread?

If you depend entirely on AI and stop learning, you’ll struggle to get a job. Without real skills or knowledge, AI won't save you or say get you a job.

So, focus on learning and improving your skills because skills are what truly make a person valuable.

Well, it depends on a few more things. LLM choice. According to my tests, the best is Gemino 2.5 Pro in Perplexity. After that, the prompt is of great importance. You need to understand well what you are doing - whether research or analysis. Ideally, these two stages should be separated, and performed as multi-step prompts.

My instructions were mostly few shot examples. Input Output programme type. It had a good numbers of example which is why it is a bit lengthy. When I tried with perplexity instructions the output did look exactly according to my provided example, on the hand when I created a separate txt file with the instructions included the output quality reduced (I didn't really select any particular model so maybe it was due to that). AI studios also delivered similar level of output when I put the entire instruction in system prompt. So far it looks like perplexity is giving me good results even though it does say that I have exceeded the instruction prompt limit

Maybe further testing will reveal if something is wrong or not
