We are working on a fix for the 1st issue. As a workaround, for new queries text can be selected in other apps and shared with Perplexity via additional actions (3 dots) by clicking on "Ask Perplexity".

Thank you for consideration. I'm aware of "Ask Perplexity", but that creates a new thread, while I want to paste some text from my notes, Telegram or whatever while asking in an existing thread.
For the second, probably just emulating web behavior is fine, it jumps to the last message mostly accurately, if the answer is long it'll go somewhere in the middle of it. But that's still very useful. Atm I have to ask another question to move to the end of the conversation, scrolling through dozens of messages is a hassle

Problem with voice-to-voice (2.23.0). My AI language is set to French, but the language is always converted to English. The answer is in French, but it never corresponds to the question asked. Sometimes, it responds that it doesn't understand my question.

I've already tried the following:

Selecting English and then switching back to French
Using automatic mode (input detection)
Changing voice mode (press-to-talk or hands-free)
Changing the voice style
However, nothing solves the problem

This is a new feature, and I understand that some fine-tuning might be needed, so take your time! 😉

Okay so the Danish tts or whatever you are using cant count on danish. Nor say Danish prices and pronounce English words on danish. Sooooo there you go. Either it starts counting in German or English because of poor training and start to say words in English or german

Hello everyone! There seems to be a bug in this system. Whenever I speak in Finnish, the text is translated into English for some reason, but that translation doesn't match what I originally said at all. I have checked all the settings and they seem to be fine, so it must be a programming error.

For those who had the same problem as me with a language other than English (explained in this post: #📱︱feedback-mobile message), here's a procedure that worked for me.

Don't use the settings by clicking on your icon at the top left of the application. Instead, start a voice search and click on the settings icon at the bottom right. You will then be able to set the AI language and voice recognition to your language. (Even if your language was already selected, reselect it.) This worked for me.

Whelp; the voice feature sucks via free tier. I tried using it and so far I'm getting lax and confused information from spoken statements. I understand it's trying to make generalized guesses at what is being stated based on its training but from what was said vs what it understood aren't close. I asked it about nginx and based off prior context if it got it wrong in the main section it still thinks that is what I asked for. It doesn't ask for clarification on what it might be exactly nor does it care. It takes the bad initial input and runs with it like a child that Miss heard a lyric and ran with it even if you're trying to correct the error on their part. As for myself it might be that the simple fix is to play with a paid subscription but I don't have the funds to deal with it.

hi, I dont use phone that much, but wanted to try the new voice mode. I gave it a permission for a mic (it shows a green icon/dot on top of screen), I hold the orange button in the app, but I am not seeing those cyan "voice indicators". if I spam the button, sometimes it shows a cyan line. when I keep holding the button (after spamming it), it sometimes keeps showing me the cyan line, but it never shows any spikes, like it doesn't hear me? chatgpt app hears me fine, so I don't think this is a hw issue. handsfree mode just keeps beeping every few seconds, regardless if I talk or not. swapped from czech to english (and few other languages and back to english, in the voice screen; hard killed the app and started again), but that doesn't seem to help. are there any special requirements I might be missing? android 13, fairphone 4

The language was forcibly set to english on the first try even when the UI was saying Finnish. I toggled to Swedish and then back to Finnish and now seems to mostly understand Finnish ok

that's ... not dutch? the search looks to work - each "Searching web" is doing a search (query on android is eg "historie Romů v Evropě 21. století" = one query for a classic search engine), then in "Considering results" picks relevant sources, repeats few times and passes it to a large model to write an answer. visually it is slightly different, but if you unfold those steps on a web version, it should be very close. I tried some apples prompt to force multistep, but it looks like the system quite likes to do the multistep anyway

In a nutshell, the app refuses to access the live internet. It claims to have done so, and provides information authoritatively as if it has, but it has not...and when called on it, it says unequivocally that it is incapable of accessing the live internet (despite that it's successfully done so for me many times). Similar, even simpler queries are coming back with "made up" answers...and the same denial.

This is a basic example to demonstrate what I've been encountering (which is even worse in terms of the bogus information and the insistence that it's accurate, followed by apologies for lying and denials that it has live-internet capabilities).

Here is the continuance of that thread, with even more fascinating (and frustrating) behavior. You'll see how specifically I've tried to get the AI on track, to no avail. The reason for it saying the real time thing is that Claude doesn't have real time access. It has a knowledge cut off, but Perplexity sort of circumvents this limitation by having web searches available to compensate for that when Claude responds.

The bot you're using is called Claude and thinks it is running on Anthropic.com basically, and that's why it's saying "no real time". Perplexity is the service providing supplemental information to Claude.

But this doesn't explain why it is giving misinformation with credible sources.

It sounds sort of stupid for Claude to be unaware it's getting real time data from a web search when it reads the date on the sources Perplexity pulls, but... LLMs will be LLMs.

The thing is, unless it was a pure mistake, it DID pull the proper score earlier (which was either incredible coincidence or was pulled from the live internet) and then promptly said it couldn't access the live net, at which point it started returning incorrect info again (which does seem like it was from "learning" that would have occurred last year, making sense in context of what you're saying about Claude). So either it DID get real-time info, and then switched back to Claude (?), or it guessed the score correctly, then presented old info, then lied and claimed it was accurate real-time info, and then denied it was capable of that. Quite the conundrum.

It's tricky, since I'm not a developer for Perplexity I can't look at the nitty gritty, but Perplexity just feeds Claude the web search information as if you had uploaded it to Claude locally without the web. It's hard to say from a User perspective. I wonder... What if the problem is as stupid (stupid by the bot, not you) as the date being included in your prompt.

Bots without web access have a very specifically stated knowledge cut off date. It's theoretically possible by asking for yesterday's information made Claude panic.

Again, this is mostly theory crafting and guesswork.

I wonder if changing the bot from Claude to Sonar or GPT would give different results.

I've tried playing with the date, as in saying things like "yesterday" or "today's date minus one", as well as giving it very specific dates. And yesterday it was working fine, bringing me correct current stats (I think...). I think I "broke" it though, in a form, in that now it's accessing our entire chat history (or something) and refusing to do anything I ask of it "live"...like it's punishing me for calling out its lies LOL.

However, I noticed that the sources pulled without pro search did not mention scores no matter what I changed, which was odd.

When I listen to results via the headphone button my phone screen locks after x minutes and it stops playing. I cannot resume from where it cut off but only start from beginning. It should keep the phone awake or allow background playing

I miss a scroll to bottom button. When I select a lot of text and pick "Ask perplexity" from context menu, it opens the app and I need to manually scroll down a lot to see the response. Alternative would be to start the scroll position on the bottom.

When I activate the voice function, the AI's voice speaks in French as expected. However, when I speak in French, the app doesn't understand me and transcribes my speech in English instead.
This creates a disconnect in the conversation flow, as the AI speaks French but can't understand French input.

I use my andorid tablet the most time in landscape mode with a keyboard. The app has no landcape view and so it's bad to use for me. It would be great, if you can add a landscape view to to the app. So I can use the search widget for perplexity. I use often the search widget for google and it will be probably the most used. The why is because Perplexity uses cloudflare, and most VPN static IPs are black/grey-listed in cloudflare, so you end up having to keep convincing cloudflare that you are a human to keep using the service. At least, that's my understanding. It's easier to see the effects from the desktop GUI, where it's more apparant that's what's happening. And I don't really know what the solution is for Android App users, as I've never seen that app in play (I use the iOS app).

When using Perplexity to listen to audio playback of a long response to a search result, the audio becomes garbled partway through.
This issue affects the clarity and intelligibility of the voice, making it difficult to understand the information being presented.

Steps to Reproduce
Perform a search on Perplexity.
Select the option to listen to the audio playback of the search results.
Partway through the playback, notice that the audio becomes garbled and the voice is distorted.

Expected Behaviour
The audio playback should be clear and the voice should remain intelligible throughout the entire duration of the playback.

Device Model: Poco X3 Pro

Seems like a bug: I open a collection, then an existing thread, and start to type a follow up question. Then I switch app to copy a text from another app. Then I open Perplexity again, and now it has forgotten and removed the text I was typing (and hadn't sent yet)

While waiting for Perplexity to implement a solution, you can use this tip 😉

Simply use the "split screen" function (if your Android device supports it).
This way, you can have the Perplexity app at the top with the beginning of your text that you have already written in your "follow-up" and below, your second app where you will copy your text. This will allow you to paste your text into your "follow-up" without losing the text you initially wrote.

In the example of my screenshot, I have Perplexity at the top and Chrome with a Reuters page below. I already have text in the question field. I copy the text from the Reuters page (in Chrome). In the second screenshot, I paste the text into the Perplexity text field, and my initial text is still present.

Here, I am using a Pixel 8.

I am unable to to log in into the android app using email option. After choosing email I get information about code being send to email. In the email there is code but after clicking the button instead of app logging it the link opens in chrome/firefox on my android device and proceeds to web version instead. I have a criticism to make about something that really annoys me in the Android application of Perplexity. In the text input field, if you start writing a prompt and then go to look for information in another application and come back to the Perplexity application... The prompt is completely erased, and you have to start all over again from scratch.

Would it be possible, please, that when we switch to another app, Perplexity keeps the memory of what we were doing?

If Android app indicates that you are not a pro user, then in Settings there will be a banner to become pro by clicking on which Paywall screen will be shown. On that screen it can be tried to click on Restore at top-right so that purchases info will be synced against with the app. You will not be charged again in this case. It works only if Pro was purchases in Android client initially.

Thanks @stuck fulcrum. Yes, I tried that option. However, the hand-free mode is much more practical It says "Automatic Speech Detection," if it works and can detect the user's speech, this will be the best user experience (currently, it does not work as I explained earlier).
For example, if you are driving or doing some errands, there is no way you can push or relieve that button. So, I prefer the hand-free mode, and I am sure most other people do as well, but I hope it works and can detect my speech.

Hello everyone, I hope someone can help me.

Since yesterday I have problems with the Google login for the perplexity app on Android. Everything works perfectly in the browser. After Perplexity didn't give me answers and stuck at the answer loading in the app, I tried a re-login yesterday. Since then I'm stuck at the Google login screen.

After the context menu in which I can select my account, the login loads and then cancels with the words "Something went wrong." I'am using the google account I have purchased the pro version with google play.

I have already cleared the cache and data of the app and also reinstalled it. I also revoked and re-established Google's permission. The perplexity app as well as the system are up to date. There's no VPN or third party app using VPN functionalities involved. The Google account I'm using has a gmail address.

About 10 days ago I switched my phone. Until yesterday, everything worked fine. For other apps, the Google login with my account is also working fine.

Does anyone have any ideas on what else could be done?

Hello, I have some feedback to share and a hope for improvement. I use Perplexity daily and mainly to write articles and tidy up my ideas and notes, and other small, practical everyday things. So much so that I can't imagine my life without this AI. Thank you very much for your really great work. And I would like a little improvement, if possible. I use Perplexity mainly via the Android application. There are fewer features than in the web page, but it's enough for me 90% of the time. But, I admit that image generation is a bit of a pain... So much so that I end up using other AI services for that. The way you integrated this requires a connection on the web page, and even with the "computer-like" display of the web browser (chrome) on my Android smartphone, it's still very difficult. I must not be the only one who mostly uses a smartphone to work. If you could simplify the generation of images to illustrate a written article, that would be really great, please. For example, by selecting a part of the text, it spontaneously suggests improvements, illustrations, sources... A kind of intuitive hyperactivity that brings contextualized added value, a kind of "hyperlink" 3.0 AI version... Do you get the idea?

Please store threads + pages in phone cache so that it also is available offline. (Open a library thread. Then close the app, turn off internet (wifi/mobile). Then launch app, try to open the same thread as before. Infinite loading animation appears. (I know library content is stored in app cache due to detailed observation). Hi there! I searched on all past incidences of "microphone" before asking this, as well as Perplexity itself. Seems like a simple thing but whenever I use the mic on a Pixel phone (Android) to ask a question of Perplexity, it cuts me off 90% of the time and inputs the text before I'm done speaking. This doesn't happen with ChatGPT because it waits for me to finish, then edit the text and submit, which is a great usability feature combination. So I've started to use that for nearly all of my cell phone searches which I'm just doing more and more of. Is there any setting or solution to this microphone cut-off problem in Perplexity? Thanks, it's good to know. Where I live, a VPN is essential. I can't even access Perplexity without it, and I use a premium reputable VPN . Unfortunately, many of their servers aren't very stable. Using a VPN to access Perplexity is already slow enough, and if Cloudflare or the Perplexity team decides to block certain IP addresses, it's a double blow. I believe a portion of actual users are using VPNs to access Perplexity and experiencing the same issues. As users, our options are limited. It's up to Perplexity to decide whether they want to retain premium users by addressing these issues. Otherwise, we may have no choice but to look for alternatives.

I have noticed that the copy function on the mobile app differs from that on the web version. In the mobile app, the copy function not only copies the AI's response but also includes the user's question and the referenced URL.

On the other hand, the web version's copy function only copies the AI's response. I would like to know if this design for the mobile version is intentional or if it is a bug. Additionally, are there any plans to synchronize the copy function on mobile with that of the web version in the future?

Having been delighted in finding Perplexity Web, seems I use it constantly with everything. What a gem. Wanted to show my dad, he wanted it on the phone, Android. Not a good experience at all. I wont get into all the details, but ask Bezos to throw in a few bucks to make the app worthwhile. I don't know how meaningful multiple reports are, but I have the same issue. I often use my Android tablet in landscape mode, but unlike other apps, Perplexity doesn't rotate. Seems silly since it works in landscape mode on a desktop 😄

I know this isn’t the answer you were hoping for, but in the meantime: Many tablets have the option to force apps to display in full-screen mode, even if they don’t support it by default. For example, on Galaxy Tab S6 (and above), go to: Settings > Advanced features > Labs > App auto-rotate > Perplexity > Full screen.
It’s not fully optimized, especially for the "Discover" feature, but it can help. Maybe check if your tablet has a similar option?
(But we agree, it would be great if Perplexity could do this by default. 😉)

Hey! I don't know if these are mentioned before, but I'm gonna point out two things I faced in the Android app:

1- The TTS feature which reads the responses, ignores the headings. For example if there are two bullet point lists with different title/headers (# in markdown), it will not read the titles and only reads the bullet points as if they were one list.

2- It would be good to see the reference links without opening them. Now if you tap on any of the reference numbers, it will open them in the browser without letting you see the link before opening it.

Alex - Push to talk is really slow to process the input and then responds in voice too (when I'm looking for text). When I open up a query and press the mic icon as input, then I also experience what Marsilio detailed (get cut off unless I dictate my query without stopping). Claude has a great feature where you press the mic button to dictate (upto 10 mins it will listen) and press again when you're done. I think this would be a good feature to adopt.

It can generate answers, that means internet connection is fine right?but when it comes to voice chat, it's unstable at times, constantly needing to switch servers. (I'm on the US server in the video, it shouldn't be blocked, right?) Sometimes it can't recognize words, sometimes it's stuck the prior video I already showed you. It's totally fine with mic when I asked on the Gemini app. You said there was some traffic that could be blocked. Is there a list or something? Maybe next time when I switch servers, I won't pick those. To be honest, I love the voice chat function, but when it comes to cases like that, it's really a love-hate relationship right now.

I've observed that Perplexity is becoming increasingly impressive. The current shortcut in the Android app is fantastic! By combining Perplexity app shortcuts with Actions Launcher, I can instantly activate voice, text, or voice-to-voice input. This is a significant time-saver compared to clicking the icon every time. The same applies to the Perplexity voice assistant. Hopefully, we'll see app shortcuts for the voice assistant soon, so we don't have to rely on the power button to activate it every time.

Hey, I am using perplexity pro on an Android phone and I noticed some of the settings that I configured on web aren't available e.g. the model I selected on web (O1) isn't available on the android app. My profile data is also not available. This is quite annoying as it's almost 2 different experiences depending on the device you use and makes the android version unusable for me. @patent barn Thank you for your report! Reasoning model are not included into default ones at the moment. Those can be selected in a dropdown menu on Query Input screen.
If dropdown does not include Reasoning models for you, it may be the case that configuration failed to load. Restarting app 2-3 times and/or Stopping the app from App's settings and starting should force configuration reload.

Thank you for you feedback! There is no standard way to integrate in the same manner as "Ok Google" works unless you own version of Android. We are looking into alternatives and we will share those news when and if it is possible.

In Settings -> Gestures there is a list of other possible ways to do certains things with quick actions. For example, Pixel phone has 1st item on the list as "Quick Tap to start action" where Assistant can be configured as one of the targets. Let us know if that works for you

On the new assistant (on android 16 beta pixel 8a) the screen flash setting is turned on by default, most likely a tactic from Google to tell you that another app is accessing your permissions or whatever. But with the Alexa assistant, the screen flash does not happen, even though the option is again turned on and greyed out.

Focus on driving safely. I just have a bicycle, but even there do I stop to use my phone, also never using headphones.

What's the expected behaviour when prompting and then changing app/screen lock?
I've found if I prompt and my screen locks from leaving it to find and build it's response, and then come back to the app, it'll error out.
If in incognito mode then you've lost both the prompt and response, but I think if your not then the prompt and response generated is retained.

Feedback point is if the above is expected behaviour, then not ideal to have to keep the screen active

I use perplexity instead of gemini on my android phone (Xiaomi 15). When I tell the perplexity assistant to set an alarm, it confirms that it did so and how's me an icon that the alarm was set. I would assume it's an issue with the internal prompting and what the LLM is shown from search results and web page scraping.

I'm trying to replicate your issue because I have a pixel nine and I just looked at every single setting I could for the perplexity Android and I saw nothing at first sight. I have initiated several searches by both using my voice, typing something and then telling it to respond with Voice, I have done the pre-programmed news items and told her to do those, and I lock my screen afterwards.

For the speech to text can you add a model trained on real human conversations, like podcasts, that just estimates when the user has finished their thought and it's time to respond, or when the user is not finished speaking? It's so annoying to have to output my entire thought in one continuous breath so it doesn't cut me off and start pontificating about all the different possible meanings my half-finished sentence might have had. 🙄

Good day. On the Android app, when a source is cited, I have to actually click on the source to see what it says. And that opens up another page, which I don't want.

This is different from the web version where I can either hover on the citation to see what it says, on desktop, or press and hold the citation to see what it is about on the mobile web version.

I want to know what a source says before I click on it. Please consider making this modification. Thank you.

You can bookmark threads which will be available in the bookmarks space if that is what you mean

How do i get to the bookmark space. so far i can only go to the Library, scroll through the threads, find one that is bookmarked and when I click the tag, I'm in the bookmarks page. How do i get to the page without having to do all this? I saw a video that there should be a bookmark option on the Library which takes me to the space. I don't see that option on the page on the right side.
