I tried changing manually the model and it always answer with the true model name used

By default Perplexity set "Best" in model, but I prefer always set "Claude". Sometimes I notice when "Best" or "Sonar" are set because it starts its answer with: Powered By Grok 4.1 (I guess Grok is the base model for Sonar). And I change the model in the answer and rewrite it, changing the start message for "Powered By Claude Sonnet 4.6".

What a weird question to even ask. History of Humanity itself proves that there is always a way,
and the history of computing and technology all by itself further underlines that.

Like how KV-Caching only became a thing eventually, or how virtual memory mapping has been "discovered" as usefull.
For these cases it doesn't matter that these optimizations were obvious from the start and only not recognized earlier,
because the programmers sucked as programmers (surely great at math, though, but low-level programming is different).

Like ... there's millions of people who use memory wrong and program the wrong way, but nobody cares, because nobody knows better,
and because things work anyway the illusion of success emerges the illusion of competence -> What else could they do?

Last week and even yesterday, the AI was consistently amazing for me: deeper reasoning, strong contextual understanding, practical responses, consistent personality/tone, and overall it felt genuinely intelligent and useful.

Today it suddenly feels completely different much shorter, colder, generic/textbook-like, and mostly giving neutral “if X then Y” answers without the same depth or confidence.

Support told me thread length and model updates can affect behavior, but honestly I’m still confused because the difference feels way too big to be just that.

I’m genuinely fine paying $200/month if the quality/style I had all last week stays consistent long term. But if the AI can suddenly feel like a completely different system overnight, it becomes hard to rely on professionally.

Hi, I am a Pro Plan user. Recently, over the past week, the model Claude sonnet 4.6 thinking dropped to an unusable level.

Sometimes, even when I ask difficult questions, it just answers them quickly, with very little thought.

Of course, the answer quality is awful. I've been using Sonnet for a long time, as it performs best in the Pro plan, so I definitely noticed the difference.

Occasionally, it just outputs the thinking process without actually responding, which is a disaster, and this is evidence of why I say this model is unusable. It just doesn't work.

Agreed it's less convenient, I've moved to a text-shortcut manager BeefText (there's also TextExpander and PhraseExpress) that allows hotkeys to be assigned to strings of text. It's a small extra steps but for the most part is the same as copy/pasting into the prompt bar.

Yeah buying keys/codes on sites like g2a is not something they support, the keys are meant only for the person that bought them from perplexity(or whatever shop).
