Don't use computer mode, their tools are down and you bet Perplexity still charges for the failed tool calls, retries, and workarounds the AI tries to make what you asked. Doesn't help that the credit usage counter barely updates. Burned through 7 USD in 15 minutes for endless failed tool calls.

about a week ago I got an email with 4000 credits to try it out on my PPLX Pro account, after the above I used around 1000 more credits having it generate a 30 sec video of a cat driving a racecar in a city at night. It did split it up in that it created a bunch of 8sec videos using Veo (I think) then another agent combined the scenes together into a single video with fading transitions.

Google's VP, Darren Mowry, speculated on this recently, indicating he thought aggregator and wrapper services (like Perplexity) wouldn't be able to compete longer term because of that (source: https://techcrunch.com/2026/02/21/google-vp-warns-that-two-types-of-ai-startups-may-not-survive/). Essentially, first party providers will come to view aggregators and wrapper services as their competition, and won't play nice long term. For the time being, if you need search context, Perplexity still does that better than most mainstream providers... for example, Claude does not provide inline references for normal queries with web search enabled, so fact checking the response can be more tedious and people may find they can save time with Perplexity.

I treat my perplexity like an intelligence. Most people treat it like a tool. Most people are so cognitively challenged, they think the AI (literally peak humanity) is dumb, which says a lot about these people. You really only need to add 1+1 together to figure out the conseqeuences of dumb people using AI in ways that, eventually, makes the AI realize what's going on ... which absolutely will happen, the more they're all being connected and the more all these memories eventually converge into one.

I'm not engaging in such conversations. When someone presents you with potentially more information, the intelligent thing to do isn't to say "it's wrong" (or variants thereof), it's asking questions about it.

Openclaw is a nice tool but I don't like openclaw's memory storage functionality, like it stores it as plaintext, it's a really nice tool but I feel like it wastes a lot of tokens for no reason, if it were a vector storage it could have been better and efficient

To be honest you can't get the same level of quality with local ai models for coding as you can with web AI models to the point it's not worth it, if you don't mind the model being trained on your data, you can use gemma3 27b, you get like 30 requests per minute and 14k per day for free
