Not EXACTLY the same. Perplexity gives its own intrstuctions to each model in order to "teach" them how to work within their platform and tools. Claude's search feture isn't as refined as Perplexity for example, so you should see the same model getting different results from the same questions.

Usually for day-to-day questions I use ChatGPT and Perplexity for DeepResearch and search. However ChatGPT has been getting really good recently. They now parse reddit and youtube. It has improved on how it analyzes those links. However, PPLX seems like it reads the whole page while ChatGPT seems to miss content when it is found near the bottom of the page, even claiming that the link doesn't contain info it actually does. This isn't a problem in PPLX.

If you are in academia PPLX seems to be better at factual responses

ChatGPT is convenient but you need to thourougly check its work as it can miss important details.

When ChatGPT doesn't get me the info I need, PPLX usually saves the day

Let's say you want to research 3 companies simultaneously, so you can do the human stuff on each one while the AI does all the stuff it's good at, and you meet halfway.

Assume each company needs a separate conversation. That's my situation.

I am not talking about having multiple conversations in your archive. I mean having two conversations open, with Claude responding simultaneously to one of your queries in each conversation.

As far as I can tell, you can't do this on desktop or browser, as if you navigate away it just breaks its train of thought.

Same happens with Perplexity and Grok, but I'm most interested in overcoming this with Claude.
Heck, Grok and Perplexity lose their train of thought if I turn my phone screen off or navigate to another app mid-stream

Yeah I’ve changed it via the voice assistant screen (the screen with the swirling dots, then tapping the gear icon) and I’ve changed it in the settings when you tap on your profile picture too but it isn’t changing the voice used when I tap the headphones icon (to read aloud a text response it’s already produced)
