We are trying to troubleshoot why some of our urls are able to be crawled but others, which are the exact same format, etc, can not. There are only two options I can see them going:

  • Integrated Ads into their Chat Responses
  • Pop-Up Ads

I find the index to be high quality for most searches outside of image search, but I can always use a quick search shortcut to use startpage, duck duck go, etc. but honestly I think I just like to nerd over the privacy features, I think that duck duck go is also super good

I think Perplexity needs to make the context window full for every model, have a chat mode interface, and add o1 preview to be more competitive for paid subscriptions. Please note how files are handled:

Short files can be analyzed in their entirety. If you upload a long file, Perplexity will extract the most important parts to provide the most relevant response to your query.

Context size and files are two different things. Since Perplexity is basically intended as an "answer engine" (AI search engine), RAG is used. You can simply ask a question and upload a file and Perplexity will look for an answer in the file.
Tests like "what is the last number" are not suitable for testing the context size of the file upload.

The total context window of a thread is around 32k for Pro subscribers powered by advanced models like GPT-4o or Claude 3.5 Sonnet.

If you have seen any concrete reports on lower context I would be grateful if you could link them here 🙏

Let me explain this bug in detail: Only users with U.S. IP addresses can access Claude and Grok. Users from other countries are forcibly defaulted to using GPT-4 or even GPT-3.5, despite not reaching the 600 request limit. Even when using a U.S. IP address, the system may still lock you into GPT-4 or GPT-3.5.
I didn't subscribe to PRO to use Claude just to deal with your foolish IP address and country-based model restrictions. If you don't resolve this issue, what's stopping me from switching to Claude Pro or You.com instead

They announced the removal of opus and you have a refund period, regarding the shipping results, a bunch of products can be bought directly through perplexity, not all of them though. You can use gpt4o in perplexity but it's not the same as if you'd used it in the chatgpt interface, the models are fine tuned for research and getting acurate information from the internet, you can still use it without search and it works fine but it's not the primary use case.

There’s no need to use Perplexity I guess. ChatGPT is much more versatile. Voice feature is also much better. Just for chatting in voice mode e.g. to practice English one can use Copilot - free and much better experience when chatting with Perplexity using a voice mode. Deep Seek released a good reasoning model - free. Pingle.ai has a good search - free. Google AI studio has a great model - Gemini Experimental 1114 - free.

If you’re trying to use perplexity the same way you use ChatGPT then you’re doing it wrong. Perplexity is focused entirely on being a search engine more like a competitor to Google rather than ChatGPT although since the search feature was released by OpenAI it makes ChatGPT a competitor to perplexity now too but for the time being I prefer perplexity over ChatGPT when looking up stuff especially with the pro version ability to switch between models and imo the UI is fantastic as well
