I’ve adopted the generative AI in mainly two ways.
- To look up smth, get some fact about whatever with some context, background, short review or similar.

Been playing with Perplexity for a few weeks now and just recently dove into the API (activated the free year of Perplexity Pro that I got from a promo a while ago.). It's not perfect but it is pretty good for getting quick answers to questions. Best thing I've done with it so far is spinning up a simple Alexa skill in AWS Lambda connected to the API to let me ask questions by voice on my Alexa since I was sick of waiting for Alexa+ 🙂

I am a simple student. I found perplexity in a video chatgpt suggested for comparison generative ai. Now I primarily utilize perplexity for the bulk of my studies and typically only rely on chatgpt for redundant verification.

Perplexity has the ability to pull in current data sources. ChatGPT runs off of static data. So it sounds like you are verifying newer data with older data, unless there is something I don't understand about how perplexity works. Through the process of me learning prompt engineering, I've discovered that perplexity is better at things that need current data set. ChatGPT has more flexibility in how it can write and refine existing data, but ti's not very good at newer data unless you specifically feed it some.
