Finding & Sending your Logs
Finding your logs:
For better and faster troubleshooting, please share game logs along with your message.
Open File Explorer
- Navigate to your Steam folder, by default it should be in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam.
- Find the following file: [...]\Steam\steamapps\common\Enshrouded\enshrouded.log
โ ๏ธ If you do not have "show known file extensions" in Windows Explorer active, the relevant file will appear only as "enshrouded", with no extension and file type "Text Document".
Copy and Paste the log file into Discord
- Head over to #troubleshooting and paste the log file into the channel.
(Troubleshooting in Discord is conducted by community volunteers. Please treat them with respect, and appreciation.)
@ashen prairie can you also drop your log file in here please, instructions above.
Sure thing!
Whilst i'm having a quick look, could i ask you both to type /minidump in chat here, you'll get a DM from the both with usually crash fixes, but they'll help tidy the system a big, run through the first 3 and see if there's any difference.
One thing i notice off the bat, you're both using a ton of combined RAM.
Piper whilst you have plenty to technically run the game, you're using a combine 59GB's of RAM, which would suggest you've got something juicy running in the background whether it be streaming software, a ton of web browers or the likes, which could be using resources that enshrouded is trying to use.
Through the log there are a number of [E 00:00:02,350] [graphics] Failed to allocate download buffer memory.
which would also point in the general direction.
I am not running anything in the background. I had Steam, discord, enshrouded and google chrome where i was watching a twitch stream for drops actively going today.
After trying the steps you mentioned teleporting seems to work again, but I am still recompiling shaders. Will report back if the issue persists once that is done!
I can only tell you what i see in the log and that's a lot of RAM to be using, i'd highly suggest a computer restart if that's all you're actively running right now.
Thanks for the help so far, much appreciated!
Its good so far with the 3 steps in that troubleshooting message. Thank you for your help, really appreciate it.
No probs, enjoy! ^^
Issue still resolved after recompiling. Thanks again!
Intresting it happened again.
Can you drop a new log file in here?
Using 47GB's of combined RAM again, 31 of it being swap (RAM allocatated on your hard drive) Which is.... odd, if you're not running anything much on there.
I have things running in the background but nothing that should be eating RAM
Unless I am mistaken that is page file or Virtual Memory. I have 4gb allocated for that on my system.
I understand dynamic memory demands. Is it possible that there is a memory leak?
Right now, aside from running through the steps again, which means the shader compiling etc etc, theres not much more i can offer. I'd suggest submitting a bug report using F1 in game, with everything you've witness/tried etc to give them as much detail as possible and they always come out with relatively quick patches after an update.
Thank you! I appreicate all your assitance!
Anything's possible, there's a couple of strange crashing issues at the moment and there's very little that seems in common between them, they could all be connected, they could all be completely seperate ๐ Same with this, you're the only two i've seen, i'm sure there's more out there, but if we give them as much info as possible they will find a solution if it's on their end ๐
I work in IT so I get bugs and release day shenanigans. I will submit a bug report with the two log files and a run down of what we tried.
Wonderful ^^
1 other suggestion... i don't think it'll do anything, but you can disable the iGPU, from past experience windows likes trying to use it for things even though it cant handle the game.
Yeah I was thinking about doing that.
