Finding & Sending your Logs

Finding your logs:
For better and faster troubleshooting, please share game logs along with your message.

Open File Explorer

  • Navigate to your Steam folder, by default it should be in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam.
  • Find the following file: [...]\Steam\steamapps\common\Enshrouded\enshrouded.log

⚠️ If you do not have "show known file extensions" in Windows Explorer active, the relevant file will appear only as "enshrouded", with no extension and file type "Text Document".

Copy and Paste the log file into Discord

  • Head over to #troubleshooting and paste the log file into the channel.
    (Troubleshooting in Discord is conducted by community volunteers. Please treat them with respect, and appreciation.)

im not even sure where i would find log files nothing is coming up for me when i try to boot it it just sits on my task manager for a bit then goes away or just sits there till i kill it

okay so this is happening on starting up the game. there is no errors in the log but it just cuts off.

right i cant even get it to start at all ive tried running as admin from the folder as well just for giggles

It seems to be doing it during the GPU initialization.

i did a full reinstall of my drives and used that clean up tool in the minidump i also tried using older drivers last night but got burnt out after that and went to bed lol

It suggests an issue with either a driver, vulkan or the card, but it could also be something in the system cutting it off for whatever reason.

Since you already did the DDU, I would say try reinstalling vulkan, maybe. It can't hurt even though it was likely done in the toolfix

would vulkan have much going if im not mistake ( i probably am lol) vulkan is for AMD GPUs right?

Vulkan is the API the game uses, it's not for AMD or NVidia cards specifically. It's like DirectX

alright after a reboot and trying to start the game seems there has been no change sadly

yeah, sadly I am not too sure about this one.
I am going to call in the big guns (Keen QA) and see if they can have a look, Can you do me a favor for them and include a dxdiag log -

  • Press Windows Key + R to open the Run dialog.
  • Type dxdiag and press Enter.
  • The DirectX Diagnostic Tool will open.
  • Wait a few seconds for it to finish loading (watch the progress bar in the bottom-left corner).
  • Click "Save All Information..." at the bottom.
  • Choose a location to save the file (e.g. Desktop) and click Save.
  • The log will be saved as a .txt file (usually called DxDiag.txt).

no worries at this point im just hoping its nothing to crazy and its something simple that got over looked haha i got 200 hours and i feel like thats some rookie numbers i need to pump those up plus the new update looks like alot of fun 🙂

@livid monolith so i tried it after the latest hotfix and no change the game says its running in my task manager but never actually starts steam says the game is still running but its nowhere i can see even checking on all possible displays ( 2 monitors)

theres also zero sound or signs its actually running anywhere task manager says its using zero of my system resources

but I did it so long ago, I am not positive. but yeah as long as you can link your accounts, it should work fine, even if you can't go into the game

nothing as of now. I know they are working on a patch, but whether or not they have found anything I am not sure. It won't come over the weekend though, so we'll have to wait for their Monday for any more news or to hear from them.

We're preparing for a bigger fix patch that'll hopefully come this week, or at the latest, next week

@fallen hedge if possible, could you run the game with "Breadcrumbs" activated?

you first select Properties after right-clicking on Enshrouded in Steam

then under "Launch Options" please write "--enable-gpu-breadcrumbs"

run the game again, wait a while, and if it crashes or seems like it's not doing anything, post the log here again please

@livid monolith so even with the newest update i still cant get the game to boot is there anything else we can try at this point im wondering if theres anything left to try

gotcha well i guess just @ me when you all know more or have something i did some digging around to see if anyone else was having the same issue but i couldnt find anything recent that worked so i guess its just a waiting game for now

thanks to @unreal pulsar was able to fix the game for me by renaming the libxess.dll file to anything else so it could not be found the game started right up thanks again @unreal pulsar 😄
