AI has (and could later have more) uses, but, like, the stuff they are doing right now is pretty stupid and ill conceived. In the Engineering space, it is amazing. In the "think for me space" - oh god no.

Yeah, like I use AI at work for some actually interesting and valuable things. But a LOT of the uses that I see it being used for? There are better already existing tools that we have for those things.

My only real problem with LLMs is the hallucinations; if you gave me a tool and told me it's going to fail 5% of the time I use it, I'm not going to use that tool. I've played enough TTRPGs to know how often the 1 comes up on the D20. And if I have to double check the results of every time I use a tool, I may as well just not use it.

And Most LLMs struggle to get above a 60-70% success rate, which is NOT good enough to justify using in any scenario.

Have you ever done a no-fast-travel playthrough? I combined that with a playthrough as a kid and zero starting stat bonuses, also avoided the dragonborn quest, and just head-RPed as an urchin trying to make something of themselves. It was deliciously immersive and really helped me appreciate the good writing that didn't get cut.

Yeah, it'd be a lot of work to develop like... 6+ unique crafting systems for different types of crafting, but I think players would actually really dig it if those systems appealed to different types of players.

Especially since you can add a touch of realism to the specific systems that make sense with how the activities work in real life. Fibercraft as a rhythm game, carpentry as a puzzle game, etc

I used winebox when I used Ubuntu to play games. They help you to install the games and rate how well it worked. I usually stick with gold/platinum ratings, but some silvers were pretty good too.

I'm not tech support, so please don't jump in based on what I say alone, but the basics are this. I am writing the below presuming you choose Nobara Linux, but things like formatting standards can be different if you pick other versions of Linux.

• There is no special kind of SSD or HDD needed for this.
• External drives are usually just an enclosure + an internal drive that a company put together for you.
• You don't have to buy either of these - just put all the must-keep data on one drive while reformatting the others (which erases their contents and makes them compatible with Linux), then copy the data over to the newly formatted Linux drives as you wish.
• Do not mix NTFS (Windows style) and BTRFS drives on your system long term, as the NTFS drives will become corrupted and lose data/not function on a long enough timeline - you want all drives using BTRFS (or whatever your chosen version of Linux prefers) by the end of your switch over to Linux.
• If you're going to Linux, read read read, don't just dive in; it's much easier these days but getting steps out of order can lead to a lot of frustration - Nobara has a simple and a detailed install guide on their wiki. If you encounter incompatibilities you are expected to find your solutions, as most versions of Linux are made by volunteer teams and the community is a replacement for traditional customer support.
• I suggest joining a Discord community for whatever version you want to switch to and talking to them about your migration before diving in. This is how I found Nobara (I was originally going to use Bazzite) was better for my needs and by the time I was sure in my decision, I had read enough that I didn't really need their help, I had just watched the conversations as others did their move and took notes. :)
• Good luck, be patient, and when in doubt, back up data to multiple locations if it's critical.

I had been hemming and hawing about moving to Linux for the last couple of years - I'd used it for laptops to extend their lifespan several times and a couple times on low power desktops - but between Proton opening up the vast majority of games to have performance parity with Windows and the creepy invasive and abusive behavior of Microsoft (specifically killing Win 10 support) I felt my hand was all but forced. I have been Linux-only since October and had zero regrets.

The only one I paid more than £100 for is my X13s.. but that was brand new.
