you always make it about me and start straw men conversations, like oppose ideas that i made no claim too basically
if that was true other things about the planet would be different
a lot of the planet is the same
clearly they can save some things and not others then
It was a general statement first,
Then you made another wall-rant tying into that - you neednt engage, you are not the only nms player in the world.
Again, you are incapable of other peoples input and are overconfident thinking you know how something works - just take in the facts and explanations instead of doubling down on how you think 'water colours are individually set via static variables', or that nms 'saves a planet as mine' (paraphrase-extracted)
land masses on the planet haven't moved, flora/fauna are the same, grass colour, sky colour, water colour, all the same etc. the clarity of the water remains the same.
since some planets water are murky or foggy
You are just wrong. But as usual you wont learn new information, you stick with your initial guesses.
Please do not engage with me. Sigh.
you said this it generates them dynamically - with the new seed as base. Expanded gen system automatically changes seed, it can't just "save" older gen planet states.
but it did save 99% of the planet
It doesnt save planets. Yes. That is how it works.( It only saves base-area edits and names of planets)
only the water lighting appears different for no reason
the water colour itself, remained the same, the water clarity, remained the same.
the water at night time, remains the same.
Please. Im not gonna butt my head against your ignorance.
I made a general statement on how some people do not understand the system,
And it was for other people avoiding being misinformed.
What you 'think' is not something im interested in looping back and forth on. Go learn.
block
(Calming, now its just "blocked user messages" above)
i can teach you to disable those messages
i learned how because people complained they blocked me but still see the messages
Hope erryone is having a good day ^^
honestly whatever they did is just weird
it adds red to every ocean
the old ocean was murky and cruddy before and now its clear and red too
the yellow circles are the same ocean
and the red circle = same ocean
lol all this red all over the place
Well, something that can happen when you change procedural generation is that if something is already generated it can really mess up the existing areas. If you go to a new, unexplored system, it will probably generate properly
That might be what you're seeing
yeah i think its broken
there's no way they intended for BOTH oceans on different planets to just be red
from what they were before
Yeah, seems unlikely. More likely some backend change just caused them to bork. It happens
plus the second planet had murky green water
now it's clear and also red
and the colour of the water on the surface isn't red
see blue water, blue sky, green grass. planet ruined cause of red lighting effect in water for no reason.
Yeah, weird. You'll just have to find a new place to live 🤷♀️
and night time on the other planet looks similar to before
and this was before
it's just the day that has red all over rofl
oh i see when there is a storm on surface of planet, then the water is murky too
the storm effects the water visuals...
lolol
which means some atmosphere lighting effect is ruining the water
its bleeding through the water probably, the same way storms do
Are you still ranting about water? Lol
Theyre not done confidently misunderstanding nms then i guess ^^
this is why I have so much respect for game devs
game devs make cool game update
players: YOU CHANGED THE WATER FROM BLUE TO RED UNPLAYABLE
Yeah, Its like impossible to update a game if its like "But me, i, claimed this thing and it should remain exactly a way that i wanted - its a crime if they change",
But then not considering why these things can happen
Imagine enshrouded being locked for more changes cus anyone could have 'tagged' any possible part of the map now - it would stall progress ^^
In No Mans Sky its even more diff, 2836263715362635 planets, theyre not really stored anywhere since thst would be ridiculous, new seed generates with the stuff they add to it.
Honestly part of the benefit of having dedicated CMs is saving devs from having to go insane scouring through this sort of thing lol. We're able to filter out the un-critical feedback to get the stuff to them that's actually useful
i didnt say it's unplayable, just that they ruined the planet i was on based on the one thing i valued about that planet
i actually still went ahead and made a base there
i dunno seems like useful feedback too
i know majority of NMS players who go for a under water base, 100% care about this sort of thing
they search hours for planet that has blue clear water, with additional benefits of blue sky and green grass
imagine if their bases now appeared under a red glow
there are whole threads on reddit dedicated to giving coordinates to planets with this criteria.
but some of us want to find the planet on our own etc.
Well I haven't worked on a proc gen game so take this with a grain of salt, but from my understanding if you fundamentally rework how something is generated like this, there's kinda no way to do it without existing worlds fundamentally changing in some way. I can't really think of any good workarounds tbh, if you're expanding the range and conditions a certain biome can have, then by definition a lot of the existing ones will have to change
And from what I've seen seems like most NMS players really like the new proc gen, so not changing it doesn't seem like what people want
yeah but to me it seems like a bug, for example i just discovered/mentioned that the weather effects from the surface happen under water too.
i don't think that's intended.
which means other lighting effects from the surface are bleeding into the under water probably
Could be, haven't played enough to have any idea
the proc gen isn't the issue, i like the proc gen too
but the idea is if the game already has values for lets say water colour, water clarity, water lighting, why would you go into your system and say all planets that have water lighting blue, we are changing to water colour red now? that's retroactively changing values for no reason... but it doesn't even seem like that's what happened here. 99% of the planets values remained the same, all i see that's different is this red lighting effect in the water that only happens in the day time. seems like they just implemented something poorly.
i don't think it has anything to do with how new planets proc generate... because i'd see more things changed about my old planet. but overall i think y'all just misunderstanding the situation or my explanation of it, despite the screenshots.
instead of being "wow that's a big change (as evidenced by the screenshots), that sucks", everyone turned it into a debate somehow. but it doesn't change the fact that it's a bummer and it sucks to have that drastic difference that doesn't look better but worse, when players tend to expect things to look better after updates.
what's also first going to be relevant to a player is where they put the 100 hours into the game, if i put 100 hours into 3-5 bases on certain planets, that's where i am looking right now. i have no doubt the new proc gen is amazing for the next 100 planets i will discover in this year.
but i am not there yet 😄
how do you know this though lol
you say this stuff alot. "many palyers do this" you are only one player though
because there are threads all over the internet on steam and reddit for planets with that criteria
do you have 10 examples?
I am saying for every 10 I bet there are atleast 10 who don't care if their water changed color
for one it looks good, when your water is blue and clear, it's the prettiest criteria for an under water base... for example when the water is murky/unclear, you can't see your base, or outside of your base on the ocean floor, you just see a murky hazy filter over everything, so it's less ideal for aesthetic builders.
i mean from what i've seen it's important to players who invest in base building (particularly under water), there are some players of NMS who dont build bases at all, because they actually hate the whole system, and so they run a freighter base. lol
in that case it's even worse.
cause there's a whole aspect of the game they'd rather not touch
i'm touching it, i am just picky about the water colour
I have just noticed you make alot of mass claims but don't really have anything to back it besides "trust me bro"
it's not really a mass claim
like it's not ALL players, i said most players who build bases under water care about it, from what i've seen online
"majority" is mass lol
it's not like anyone can run statistics
you don't need to you just need enough proof of people saying that to back you up instead of trust me bro
yeah but if the argument is i make a claim and can't back it up, because i can't run statistics on every player of NMS, then likewise you can't refute it and claim the opposite is true, because you have nothing to back it up that is truly factual. personally, from what i've seen online, i think it's statistically significant the amount of people who care about it. since people went through the trouble of making threads asking for coordinates to planets with blue clear water, green grass, and blue skies.
watergate 2 electic boogaloo
Lmao
say this then
instead of "the majority"
and end of the day i am playing the game, i don't know that anyone here arguing with me even owns the game or played it for very long
opions are opinions. You have been stating things as fact a lot
but i think it's the majority of players care about it who make under water bases.
you can gather this from screenshots of under water bases too.
most of them fit the criteria i explained
you can gather this from the fact that finding LUSH worlds is a huge important part of NMS
the whole idea is the universe has alien planets, and ugly planets, and barren planets, but then there are lush earth like planets.
What I am getting is if you put a I think statement or my opinion is 100% different than saying "the maojority"
and they are popular for a reason
I don't think i have ever met another person on discord who complains but continues to play a game as much as Valourant haha
because people like how they look
different strokes for different folks
100%
the only thing is i still think it would be nice to change the stripe colours on armors and capes
killing abyssal fungus is more my kinda fun
that looks so abstract somehow lol
its old school grahpics style
oh is it runscape?
nope erenshor
no mans sky when you're inside a building....
lol future tech and they don't sound proof
their walls and doors 😦
just none stop wooshing sound
i wonder if it happens under water, maybe not? it's only started to bug me now
maybe another benefit of under water base then...
2 out of many of my nms builds.
I really love the new update they made. ❤️
the floating base is unfinished since it has more than 16k materials. It is so massive. I cant even upload it.
too bad nms can't add in ability to add and flatten terrain, and then allow for proc generation over time on the terrain changes
sky base is a big thing in nms too
still with the new update they made i'm not sure my old world is better off or not 😄
before it used to have more grass and it looked kinda like fields of grass
now it's more broken up with patches, and other things standing in for the grass
and a lot of the things look.. 2D rather than 3D
oh really? I didnt noticed that issue
Im currently conceptualizing a mecha dragon to build on NMS. Im still on the skeleton details tho. I really love the effects on the new update.
BTW the planet i built this with have like 100+ players on it. So they can check it out once uploaded.
right now im trying to do settlement stuff but it keeps saying my settlement is running smoothly and wont introduce new tasks lol
are you playing with console or pc?
on pc
is there a timelimit before tasks are introduced?
i made the office, spaceport, and water tower so far
but not getting anything after that
This looks cool!
Anyone playing soulmask? Just fresh wiped our na pvp booster trios today.
I am, and still enjoying it.
Anyone playing Kingdom Maker?

now nms is so laggy for some reason
on a 3080ti and 5950x 16 core processor lol
game crashed twice too
and things glitch out and including character, becomes invisible and i can't see them
mech is missing its legs
whats this about game update? or new game?
brand new game, think warframe game engine and on modern earth. Kind of GTA meets MGS is how it kind of looks with maybe some Cyberpunk thrown in.
nice ill check the video tomorrow, thanks for the brief explanation though
sounds interesting
i think i fixed nms fps drops just had to follow a bunch of guides to optimize
delete shader cache etc
change in game settings, apparently you don't need shadow quality at ultra
arcade paradise is free on epic games
What is name of game .. it's kinda survival and it's about killing zombis
I totaly forgot name and after watching walking dead I feel enthusiastic
You're gonna have to be a lot more specific, theres like 10000 of those games. 😝
7 Days to Die is just about to do their 1.0 patch
State of Decay is pretty good
Vein is a new promising one too
Zombie. And survival crafters and battle royals.. we have a few yeah ^^
what the heck now NMS has a sound glitch, i hear static garbage noise in the sound
have to restart the game lol
oh and there are whole threads dedicated to not liking the update, seems i'm not alone in thinking it made planets overall look worse. https://www.reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyTheGame/comments/1e5ko2z/update_50_is_great_and_all_but/
https://www.reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyTheGame/comments/1e5rm4e/uglier_planets_post_update/
https://www.reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyTheGame/comments/1e7mc33/anyone_elses_home_planet_more_ugly_now/
oh and this one, people even debating if it's bugged
i cant wait to get AC installed, so I can play more intensive games without worrying about my PC being hotter than normal. since i tend to play NMS for 3-4 hours at a time, which is pretty long.
my room is 30c right now
hotter inside than outside
i should move my PC outside
and game outside
i think the CPU hits 80c sometimes
but averages around 60-70 in the game mostly
but i think if temperatures in the room were normal i could play at 60c always
Project Zomboid
which is like a zombie simulator
project zomboid kinda would have been good if they had a co-op dedicated mode and not just multiplayer servers
never really found a server i could enjoy, always full looted, or empty, or just with weird mods
man nms, the amount of changes to old planets not panning out is brutal
my base where i made a base specifically to farm storm crystals and sell them for 50 million
the whole planets resource of being storm crystals is changed rofl, it's now a brood planet
what the hell NMS, don't go changing the resource on top of everything
I feel like its a big enough change to go start a new game
that is my plan
Anyone been watching EVO this weekend?
It has been so good
yeah it's just a minor inconvenience, i think i have other storm crystal resource planets, but they are kinda rare, and this one was kinda packed with crystals, so it felt almost like taking advantage of the game since i could collect like 50 storm crystals in 10 minutes.
maybe that's why it was deleted
so i now i gotta find the planets that have them and set up a small teleporter base, will take like 30 minutes of game time
sucks cause i just needed 1 storm crystal to build something rofl
i got to the point in NMS where I said F-it and got a character editor.
I dont cheat everything but I fill out ship inventories and max out my cash.
thats why i wont start over, the investment in the character and ships is all good and i have lots of progress
of course i struggled to get back in the last time I played.
i found a better money generator than storm crystals
that was sort of a secondary thing
nice
right now best way to make cash is salvage sentinel ships
can salvage like 7 in 40 minutes
and thats 40 million credits each one
i still didnt get my free freighter
waiting for a dreadnaught A class
i forgot what one i found but it was cool.
i remember when alien eggs were a decent source of income and they nerfed that fast.
I feel like they're still alright, just not amazing. Salvaging the sentinel ships is crazy money though. I'm surprised that's not been nerfed.
yeah i dont remember the exact values
could be 30 mill
could have taken 1 hour
but still im still sitting at 150 million credits
since doing that
and it's been months later, but i also don't really buy things
Yeah, I remember the salvaged ships being worth enough that it kind of ruins any other "economy" thing in the game. But it's also been a long time since I played so IDK the exact amounts
it was great though mainly because you could do a cycle on the same planet
find ship, salvage ship, go back to the same outpost you marked, and find next ship
all on the same planet, i picked up max ship capacity then went to station in the same system and sold them all
so no jumping planets or systems or anything
can just find endless ships on same planet lol
and getting them functional was pretty fast
Yep, it's good, but I feel like it's so good that it's hard to justify other money making strategies, and that's kinda... eh
yeah but there are strategies for later i think that are more idle
i'm just not setup that big yet, like i don't even have freighter, and i'm still trying to knock out a bunch of quests from 5 years ago
but potentially you can farm/harvest materials idle and sell them and make big money
multitool upgrades are expensive for me now
140 million to add 1 slot
exosuit is only 200k
ship slots are cheap too
but yeah i aint wasting my credits on that lol
the reddit thread says secure facilities probably give you the slots for free
my bad it was 7 days to die xD
Planing to buy No mans sky with friends but not sure how playing in same galaxy (world) looks like. Is it like we invite them to our game , we run game along each other? Does it only run when host is on or is there a option that we all play together but can be online separate time?
ya basically just join on your friends and youre good.
youll be around the same planet more or less.
Oo that's a good one! I doubt it will ever fully release but it's sure fun lol.
modded 7 Days is good times
Their 1.0 is supposed to be like... this or next week
the MP experience wont be that unified in NMS because for example it's not DDO (dungeons and dragons online) where you needed 4 unique classes to team up and then complete a dungeon together and if you were missing a mage the boss battle at the end would be near impossible since the boss was vulnerable to magic damage, or if you were missing a thief going through the dungeon would be difficult because of all the traps that no one could disable. so people would have to try and tank damage and take turns reviving each other. basically the gameplay required multiplayer and it complimented it.
for NMS I can see people sharing a base, or building a base on the same planet, maybe visiting each other, but there's no real need to explore together and staying together would be pretty difficult, it would feel like you're chained to a person instead of free to explore.
the true coop game will be "Light No Fire" that Hello games is working on
NMS to me is sort of a drop in see how your friend is doing experience
though maybe expeditions changes that a little bit
maybe expeditions is the gameplay geared toward a more coop experience in NMS
i have not done an expedition yet 😄
either way if NMS has a sale it's 100% worth getting
Oh holy crap that's awesome.
I gave up hope xD
Yeah, the experimental branch for 1.0 came out a few weeks ago and my group did a playthrough on it. Gameplay is much the same as always, but it all felt good
Oh definitely. When I "finished" (got bored) I think we were at around 90 days?
Sounds like a good run ^^ i dont think ive played that one yet, tho i usually dont play zombie-survivals so much. Tho i liked dead by daylight 1 ^^
"survival" in dbd is very different imo, one can argue all games are survivals if your character can die
i don't think it's an actual survival game though like with thirst/food mechanics, environmental death from hot/cold etc.
like i play no more room in hell and I don't consider it a zombie survival
the point in NMRIH is to extract with your team and "survive" but it's a different type of survival game to me... and i don't find it very different from any FPS game where you need to complete the level alive...
like i don't really get calling it a survival
kind of redundant.
helldivers 2 for that matter should be called a survival game too lol
would be hilarious if it has survival tag
man though i really don't like games like DBD and their formats
Yeah, one of the interesting parts to me of 7d2d is their base defense. Zombies try to get to you and have pretty clear pathing rules, so you build your bases as a sort of tower defense for the blood moon hordes.
So each playthrough I come up with a different base design to see how it holds up against the hordes. I've had varying degrees of success with my builds, but the playthrough usually "ends" when I've proved my base can pretty much withstand any hordes and I've built everything out.
I've done a bunch of different styles of them at this point, and I wish they'd add more trap types and stuff that I could set up. Right now there's only 2 real traps you can use so it really limits the options for base designs.
yeah like games like DBD, phasmophobia and deceit, could never understand the appeal of them. they are calling left 4 dead a survival horror
i guess survival horror is the tag because in all these games another player hunts you?
so any PVP game, where a team of 10 ganking player killers come after you, should be called a survival terror game
survival griefing genre
Any PvP game is a horror game because you have to deal with other players 😝
"Survival horror" is usually distinct from "Survival" in that it's more about the "Surviving a horror movie" type of survival than "surviving the world", if that makes sense.
I think Survival Horror as a genre predates actual "Survival" games.
survival teamkill game should be the tag for helldivers 2
actually teamkill still falls under greifing
Yeah like if you wanted to call Helldivers 2 a Survival Horror game, I'd kind of be on board. But it's definitely not a Survival game.
so basically we need a survival griefing tag as a new genre
yeah i'm seeing the distinction now
i thought they were straight up being called survival games too
but it's survival horror
Yeah, that wouldn't make sense.
yeah NMRIH is called survival horror too
if thats the case it's the only one i've ever liked lol
oh and left 4 dead 2
i remember back in the day not being able to go inside my house in ultima online for 72 hours
because someone named "i have no legs" was camping my house waiting to kill me and steal my key
rofl, and me and my guild used to joke, we'll he has no legs, not like he can go outside, he probably lives by his computer
pvp games really need to be called survival harassment games
Yeah, over time I've become less and less jazzed about PvP in survival games. No matter what the protections are against griefing, people will still do their damndest to find a way. So it's just not worth supporting if you want your game to be casually fun.
imo part of the problem is you get these big guilds that just finance total crappy people
like all the toxic players band together, opportunists who try to control everything, and monopolize and amass wealth so they can just victimize everyone else
Yeah but like... you can't design things in server based games so that big guilds can't/won't do that. Max tribe size? They'll just use out of game tools to coordinate. Max server players? They'll just clog the server so you can't even log in.
and the idea of open world sandbox pvp was that other players would band together to form giant guilds too, that try and defend newer players and stop the toxic ones
Stopping the zerg faceroll, especially in the time of streamer guilds, is effectively impossible. Or at least no one has figured out a way to solve it.
but it never quite works that way, so either need a pvp game where everyone is solo/independent, no guilds, or you need one where the gameplay to defend others is incentivized somehow, and part of the way ultima online did this was through a karma system, where murderers lost alot of perks and couldn't enter towns - and were clearly labelled as murderers.
Yeah, the one way to manage it in an MMO setting might be some sort of system-enforceable justice system. But we've yet to see anything that works well in that space. The best I can think of was in Archeage where people could get sent to jail for IRL hours/days for stealing from people, heh
the only issue was murderers in ultima still bank rolled themselves by having none murderous characters in big guilds that funded their player killer char
Yeah, I mean you have to stop player trading and stuff for Outlaws. No trading, no mail, no AH, no account bank, no coordination with anyone. Otherwise it's easy to bankroll them and the system will fall apart.
yeah
I'd love to see an MMO where there are player-run cities and they could set laws for their cities and have a robust justice system where you could become an outlaw in their region, get imprisoned, etc etc.
Yeah
and having the player killer log into the same house
access the same chests
the karma system in UO, was like, if you attack someone you lose reputation, do it too many times and your name tag which players can always see, turns red
if someone attacks you first and you fight back and kill them, you dont lose any rep
it was based on who attacked first
thats if you're both blue
if you're blue and attack a red murderer you wont lose rep for attacking first
if you were blue and stole from a blue character you can turn grey
i forget how grey worked
grey could have just been an indication that you had neutral rep
and i think rep went from glorious (blue) to dreaded (red) or something like this
and then if you were red you lost access to most towns, banks, shops etc.
there was a pirate town though lol
so i mean it really didn't matter
and there were some towns where you could bank just outside the city limits
because the bank was close to the edge of the town
which was dumb
Yeah, Karma systems are alright, but I feel like we've learned a lot more about how to design things so they're better for everyone and less exploitable. I've spent a lot of time thinking about MMO justice and how to do it in meaningful ways, heh
Phasmophobia especially in VR is such a good time
I really enjoyed the justice karma system in Archeage
Being able to stand before a jury of peers to try your case and defend yourself from jail time was fantastic
It.made for some really hilarious community driven content
sounds like more torture
One thing that gives me hope for Ashes of Creation is that they're using Archeage to framework a lot of their systems. I'm hoping that their justice system is like Archeage 2.0
being judged by gamers would be hell
lol
no one would be objective, they'd just hang you because they don't like you etc.
That's funny thinking people irl are objective XD
plus i am sure there would be conflicts of interest, it might be fun in a game setting since choas is players idea of fun
but if my idea of fun was a somewhat fair trial system
then 9/10 times players would ruin that fun
I dunno, I like the idea of player ownership of cities and tribunals of justice and stuff. It creates a real "living world" feel. And you can systemize a lot of justice things to prevent griefing with it.
It was hilarious in Archeage
like often in games the guy you killed has a clan member who is the judge or whatever
Yeah and?
moreso is the case for me that i get banned in games and then the ban appeal ticket tells you to email the person who banned you because they deal with ban appeals too ROFL
i'm just saying injustice systems are not fun
I got off from jail time so many times because I said I would murder them as soon as I get out for weeks unless they make me innocent
for me personally
What I experienced of it in Archeage was that people actually took it seriously and it was an interesting thing. It was opt-in for the trials, so like people wanted to do it and it was kinda cool
We also created race wars which was amazing
I feel like that sort of thing promotes RP in your RPG
100% it does
yeah it can be okay if the people aren't biased
that's why they find juries irl who aren't bias etc.
Even if they're biased, it creates interesting scenarios. Like if a certain city is super unjust, people might not live there
Being biased is part of it though
Or they might support other leadership for the city, etc etc
RP comes with it's own rules too, like you need an RP reason to do things and that can temper someone's bias a bit
you can't meta game - if your goal is to be a good rp'er anyway
Its funny to think that juries aren't biased
They have jury members hand picked in favor for one side or the other
they may or may not be bias but the system irl is designed to temper that or prevent it as much as possible
and archaege probably isn't
if a certain city is unjust i am sure someone would raise an army and attack it
Well you can also do stuff like have player houses tied to citizenry, so if you live in a city you could be asked to do a jury for a trial and it could tell you the time, the infraction and some more information.
Stuff like that could make for a really interesting world to live in.
So instead of it the jury being a bunch of necessarily biased people who signed up, you could get random citizens showing up to be juries. And then justice would be more distributed.
and then i'd be leaving that kinda game atmosphere, i can't devote myself to communities where people just want to tear you down none stop
There is a LOT of really interesting/cool potential on how you could set up justice systems to make for really awesome game worlds.
Politics was huge on AA
Alliances etc
Its things like politics that make MMOs so great
don't get me wrong i think player built things are great, but it depends how it's designed and what the game world rules are
It was also great that you could see trial chat
is there even a modern game like that?
Creating and managing player interactions is definitely one of the biggest thing that MMOs can offer compared to other types of games.
So everyone got to see stuff
there was one game whose comments made me laugh
There isn't currently a (good) modern MMO like that. Again, Ashes of Creation is using Archeage as a blueprint in a lot of ways, so we'll have to see what that looks like when it's playable.
In 2027 or whatever 😝
Lmao
this one
Enter the world of Eco, a fully simulated ecosystem bustling with thousands of growing plants and animals living their lives. Oh yeah, Eco was pretty interesting.
I played on Stevens server. It was funny.
It seemed to be focused on Minecraft but Educational so they were trying to focus on more realistic interactions with the world. Which is kinda a neat idea
eco reviews are hilarious, basically things like it mimics real world government do not touch it
This game is an accurate simulation of governments. Do not play it.```
rofl
player built can be fun... but not for this guy !
and someone else called it
rofl
Yeah it's the sort of game that you never ever should play on a public server.
Even with friends it'll end up making you grumpy at your friends who are burning crazy amounts of coal.
Looking back. Archeage had a lot of fun systems in it like faction languages
Also composing music haha
Always found it cool that you had to skill in learning languages so text from the opposing faction didn't just come up as jibberish
The trade pack system was a great balance of potential loss vs full loot pvp. Like when you were running a full boat of packs, you were WORRIED about pirates and stuff.
It was so much fun
But at the same time you didn't have to be concerned about dropping all your stuff and losing your whole kit, which is sooooo painful.
sounds neat
Yeah
I loved the tradepacks and fishing
Owning land, making cheese larders
Or even better just taking other peoples cheese XD
ultima went further
you could cut up peoples limbs and make beef jerky
rofl
cannibalism
Yeah, the fishing minigame was legit too. We all had fishing boats and stuff, and did a combination of doing the fishing and stealing other people's fish
Our server during 1.0 had a guild who dedicated themselves to being the fish police to try and keep the fishing politics as even as possible
They were nicknamed Fish Law
cuz their name was Deathlaw or something
I really hope AoC can achieve the same sort of politics
Honestly that sort of thing is cool. Again plays into the idea of player ownership and stuff. Imagine if you had a kingdom that included big sections of the ocean, so they had justice and police could be meaningful on it.
But have like... the guild that governs the province appoint a justice guild in charge of managing that sort of thing. Then, if they were doing a bad job, citizens (who own houses/land in the province) could file grievances about the way justice was being administered, etc etc
You might have provinces that are ruled with an iron fist. But if people don't like the way the province is being run, they might move away to a different province and lose their tax income from crafting and trading and stuff. So there's a real incentive to govern well
The beauty of it is that it's a video game and you can design the system to prevent corruption like we see in our real world governments 😝. Like if someone kills you in PvP against the justice system's rules, we can have the system allow you to report them. But you can't report people who never wronged you.
There will still be griefing attempts and stuff, but there are a LOT of things you can do to eliminate potential avenues for gaming the system. The beauty of MMOs is that while no system is perfect, they can continually update it to be better and better.
Yeah, it's got a lot of potential for sure.
ahh yesss
i have now experienced this
NMS so full of surprises lol
the question is what furry will you play as?
i'm leaning toward a bunny
turtle
bought 50 exosuit upgrade charts
hopefully it's enough to fill it out
only cost me 4 million credits
pretty cheap
the left overs can go toward the 3 guild standings
i've also been making chromatic metal at 1:20 ratio which is pretty good
for every 1 of something i get 20 chromatic metal

Coming August 6th 2024. Escalation of Freedom is the first major update for HELLDIVERS 2. Get ready to take on the new "Super-Helldive" CR10 difficulty, deadly new enemies, new mission types and much more.
The Galactic War rages on and Super Earth needs you to take arms and dive back into ...
WWE champion frog
its funny that the game says "Unknown Horned Humanoids"
it's obvious the horned creatures in the video are some type of deer
or hybrid cross
Doe a deer a female deer?
Ohh it's sweet tooth!
yeah
but there is a more definitive identifier than that in the videos
so not sure why they are labelling it as unknown
why couldn't it be a horned toad?
or a stag beetle?
im partial to foxes, otters, or bunny
for my character choice
not even sure why they included humans/elves
Otters do bad things
bad choice imo, should have went total furcadia
otters are on their villain arc
elves overdone in everything
and if you add elves might as well add dwarves but they discriminated against dwarves
makes no sense this discrimination
100%
so it seems like they say unidentfied to include other horns
bc the first pic you posted
i mean one horm more ram/or demonic related
is def not a deer
the other is deer
yes
deer/elk type
it would be like lumping in rabbit with frog, and saying both are unidentified
i see three different horns already
rather them lumping them together and saying unidentified?
they won't be the same species that would be dumb
cuz maybe all their faces are similar
they are either their horn species + human, or purely their horn species
but you can just change the horn type
yeah maybe
that would be my guess because these are all back shots.. waht if they turn around and not look like deers at all
you wouldn't call them deer people
yeah but instead of deer people or unidentified which is lazy
they could just say reindeir horn species or something
i dunno
XD
which wouldn't really imply that it's a deer species, just that it has those horns
you can tell this from this picture
its 92% a deer
because of the ear shape
elves dont have those ears, deer do.
so that horned creature is like either a deer, or a human with deer ears and horns
its 2024
it would be funny if light no fire
had game mechanics to prevent starting fires
and if a player finally starts a fire it burns down half the world
rofl
like ohhhh light no fires... actually meant don't do it
I didn't know Crunchy Roll was a game.
Link looks sketchy asf
couldn't think of anything other than that while reading the conversation.
the kings viewing platform
very nice. conan may not have much for actual content in it but boy do mods make up for it. This is a picture of the garden I built on the server I played on.

Or do they make bespoke varied ones now?

i just completed all NMS expeditions that i missed and got all the rewards 😎
Are expedition hard to do solo?
not really, they are just grindy
like starting a fresh game would be
most expeditions you can't do anymore, and i'm not waiting 5-10 years for the devs to decide you can play old expeditions that are over, so i cheated the completions in, and got the rewards. expeditions 1-4 are really wonky, because the game was different back then, for some reason they start you with 2 exosuit slots, and your health module is outside of it, so you can't regain health at all lol.
but if i wanted i could have opted to play expeditions 5-13 and get the rewards more legitimately, (though i'd still be cheating in the very opportunity to do that)
but i figure when you grind 1 expedition you grind them all, aside from some story elements, the grind is very much the same.
how'd you do that? 🤨
so my plan is just to do expedition 14 which is still running legitimately
you edit the cache file, while your internet is physically unplugged/disconnected
and then when you get the rewards you connect your internet again
connect internet, then pick up rewards
i'm not sure the devs really care, since if a player chooses to cheat it only affects them
because the game is single player/offline it allows you to replay old expeditions basically
by tampering with the cachefile
bottom line is i had the game from release, and nobody really likes locked out content - and currently i think they do allow replaying old expeditions, but furthest back they went was expeditions 9-12 - like one time? and it's probably a long wait - a year or more until they do that again.
so basically you'll be waiting a long while if you want earlier expeditions than 9-12 for sure - since nobody can replay 1-8 legitimately.
there are apparently save editors too, where you can just cheat everything into your save, but i didn't do that
i did a cache file thing, which is different - in the past people used to edit the PC date on their computers, to read 2021 etc, and it would unlock old expeditions for them to play that way.
so i think the cache file edit exploits this more cleanly without having to tamper with windows clock settings
plus you would need exact dates of when each expedition was released
plus i think the internet being off, is just so steam doesn't download a new cachefile, since steam likes to keep files intact.
it really has nothing to do with any sort of cheat protection or anything
all i did was get the rewards, i still need to upgrade them all manually 😄 in my survival run
which will take ages
anyway oh and i recently made it to the new lush galaxy so hoping a find a good planet to base on
maybe i can finally get a base i like
on a planet i like
i've been operating out of tiny bases
though i realize i could have made it to that galaxy by just looking for player made bases in other galaxies using the teleporter
but ironically... didn't want to cheat my way to first galaxy 😛
haha
bottom line - if you lock people out of content, they may cheat it, if they provided all the expeditions, i probably would have done them all without ever looking up how to cheat
i'd just have a back log of them to do, and it would have taken forever
Time to do my second play test of Harry Potter quidditch champions on the 2nd
Wonder how much trouble I will get in for sharing basic Info since I have to sign an NDA lol
Been in it for a few years. Is this test still under one?
do you happen to know in NMS if the expedition phase rewards transfer to your main save?
i mean the smaller rewards, the ones in each step, and not the end of phase rewards which are usually yellow text coloured
though some phase rewards are yellow
things like augmentation slots
or resources/technology
ahh
"If you started the expedition from within an existing save, your wallet transfers when you end the expedition and you can transfer 8 stacks of tech and 24 stacks of cargo. So yes, you can access some of the intermediate rewards."
so only if you drag the items to the boxes to transfer
Yes, you can use your main save for Expeditions now. Instead of launching a new save to start the Expedition, you start on your main save. Then you go to the Anomaly and in there is the Expedition terminal to start it with your main.
no i meant the rewards
each phase has like 6 rewards for 6 objectives, and then usually a bonus reward
and then there's the entire phase reward
the entire phase reward you get from finishing the expedition, or talking to the merchant nearby
so supposedly the smaller rewards are called "intermediate rewards"
and can only be brought over to your main save using the boxes inside the expedition menu
just like you can use those boxes to bring over tech/and materials
you can also use those boxes to bring back rewards.
Once Human made me addicted to furniture
trying to find all formulas 🤣

Yo Guys! Important Topic! European citizens initiative that would force publishers / developers (when they shutdown their games lifetime service) to allow private servers or create a offline mode for all Online Games you had to buy / f2p games with microtransactions in order to keep those games playable. Destiny, The Division, The Crew, any F2P Game with Microtransactions etc. They all gonna shutdown eventualy in the future. With this initiative we can keep those games alife forever. Legaly.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mkMe9MxxZiI
Europeans can save videogames from being destroyed! The European Citizens' Initiative has just launched and represents the biggest and most ambitious chance to create new law against publishers destroying games they have already sold to you. Get EU citizens to sign it!
Link to sign EU initiative:
https://citizens-initiative.europa.eu/initiati...
Yes! I support this fully, some of my favorite games have vanished over time and I'd love it if they became abandonware or open source where we can keep them alive.
(Remember mods arent Keen employees, this is just my opinion)
if you read what the actual law would do, you wouldnt want this. It is so vague that it would make every single publisher and developer to make their game have a single player/offline option. With how vague it is that includes WoW, FF14, ESO, and any mmo from then on This would be impossible for these companies.
That's not necessarily true though. The law has to be relatively vague because games don't follow strict guidelines on how they work. If they made it too specific, it would likely be WORSE for companies and impose design constraints on them. It should include any MMO because basically all MMOs include cosmetic purchases now, so by sunsetting a game, an MMO would be removing access to player's products that were sold under the assumption that they'd be available.
With the law being that vague, the point is that they would have to make the game available to players after the sunset date and that could take a variety of forms. It could be a single player mode, or it could be access to tools to run private servers if you want to. The point is that while not every player is going to care that they can't access their MTX, some players really will care and those players need to be supported.
There are a variety of MMOs and other games that I'd love to go back and take a look at, and maybe I'd be willing to put in the effort to spin up a server so I could smash around in Auto Assault for a while if the tools were available. But they just aren't, and there's no way to recover that product.
It's a problem right now because any game with a necessary online component can unilaterally revoke your access to a product that you paid for and there's nothing you can do about it. Initial iterations of laws in this area might not be perfect, but they're far better consumer protections than exist now. If the law has to change because some company makes a good faith argument that they are effectively supporting the player past the sunset date and it's not covered by the current law... that's how government is supposed to work.
isn't the law now something dumb like you don't own a game but are just licensed to use one? when i buy a 60$ game on steam i don't own it? especially since i don't have a hard copy of the game... but also because for some games they reserve the right to ban you permanently.
basically only the game company/publisher actually owns a game
if i don't own a game, then i have no rights to play it after they decide to stop supporting it
most games that died are kept alive by their communities still
My understanding of it is that right now there's just... no regulation at all. It's not even about the game itself in a lot of ways, because Games As A Service can imply that the game is being provided as a service and you're purchasing access to it. That's dumb itself and you shouldn't be able to lose access to a game that you paid for, but whatever. But when you add in the practices around microtransactions, that's where it gets especially muddy.
If you're playing an MMO that is a GAAS and also has MTX, when they shut the game down you lose access to not only the game, which you paid for, but also the MTX that you purchased along the way. You never bought that MTX with the understanding that it was a limited time product that might vanish instantly. There's no real protections to stop game companies from effectively doing a "pump and dumb" scheme where they pull people in, "encourage" them to make a bunch of purposes and then shut down the game making everyone lose their stuff they paid for, and that's the core of the issue.
Like, if Blizzard decided tomorrow that they were done supporting Diablo 4, they could shut it down and everyone would lose access to the game. Anyone who bought MTX would lose it, and everyone who purchased the game just... wouldn't be able to play it. You have to have an online connection to their servers to play, so if they turn that off, you're just done and that's it.
That's horrible and why the consumer needs protections for it. I can't think of another product where the creator can just remove your access to using it unilaterally and you have zero recourse (though the Internet of Things is definitely trying to make this more common, which is horrible)
If that means that live service game creators have to build a solution for what happens when they want to stop supporting their game so players can still enjoy it? That's kinda the point 🤷♀️
MOST creators, especially indie ones, will be unaffected since their games don't require server access or anything.
Aren't subscriptions to streaming platforms an example of losing access to content?
Shows get taken off of platforms regularly
Also... buying mtx... don't people already realize beforehand that its tied to a game that can end?
Like I don't buy mtx in games thinking I'm gonna have it forever
Sort of, you sign up with a streaming platform with that understanding though. You don't generally buy games with the expectation that the game can be made inoperable at anny time.
It's less about "10 years later the game might shut down when you don't care" and more like "the game shuts down while you're actively playing it because it's not making enough money"
Because there's no protection against that second case right now, you're just SOL even though you paid for the game.
I buy all my games digitally knowing that I possibly can't play them in the future
And there's no real recourse. Like with movies, you can go out and buy the DVD if you want to watch the movie agnostic of the streaming platform.
I see
It might be the same as like... Netflix Originals, where if they decide they don't want to have them streamable, it just sucks to be you
But there have been instances of communities enjoying a game after it's been shut down and the owners of the game not letting them play, even though they aren't supporting the game any more.
Like City of Heroes or the old WoW classic servers before classic was supported
It's like "You aren't supporting the game any more, why can't we play it under our own power?"
Isn't that their right as owners of the IP?
Like if I owned something and decided it was time to end it, I wouldn't want someone else to just use and change it to something else that went against my vision of it or say charging people money to play it on a private server
Like massive people RMTing on private servers for said game
I might be wrong but buying a game doesn't give you ownership of the assets and do whatever you want with them
Same way as if I bought a movie that wasn't made anymore... I don't get to make mass copies of it and then start distributing it myself
No, but you get to enjoy it if you own it, and that's the thing. If an artist decides to stop making a specific piece of art, they can't go and remove that art from people's homes. If a magazine ends their subscriptions service, it doesn't spontaneously combust all existing copies of the magazine.
The goal of the movement isn't to make it so players can distribute the games that are no longer being supported. It's just that they want to be able to continue to enjoy them.
So many games are online enabled/online required that the companies can just stop supporting your ability to play the game. The goal is to enforce a methodology so that if they're going to sunset their support, there's some way players can continue to play. Whether that's an offline mode, open source server support, or some other method.
It's even okay if they stop selling copies so new people can buy the game, it's just NOT okay that people who own the existing game are arbitrarily locked out from playing just because the game company decided it was done supporting it, or went out of business or whatever.
Like, Epic Games could decide tomorrow that they're done with Fortnite and it's shutting down. The absurd amount of money people put into the game for battle passes, MTX, etc would simply vanish and there's no regulation about that removal. Obviously won't do that because Fortnite just prints them money, but they could and that sucks.
Gotcha
Disney does a thing with their old movies where they go into "the vault" and they stop selling them, for example. People don't love that, but they get to do it. People would HATE it if they couldn't watch their Aladdin VHS because Disney decided it wasn't going to support it for a while.
As a mtx spender It never once was an issue for me knowing I can't see a cosmetic once a GAAS is over
Yeah, GAAS are in a weirder spot, certainly. Because there might be an expectation of service end.
But there are a lot of games that require connections to some external server to even launch the game. And if the companies owning those games go under, you just... can't play them, even though the online function isn't actually core to the gameplay or anything.
Yeah
i miss all the old java and flash websites of the early 2000s......
like ya i got better games now but to at least be able to see them again.
some stuff is still around like newgrounds and neopets but.... 😦
Yeah, sometimes I think about old games in relation to game design stuff I'm doing today. It would be wonderful to boot them up and poke around at them for a while, but for a lot of them you just... can't.
And I think the intent of this is also to help future proof a healthy environment for games. It's still a relatively young type of media and is VASTLY different from other things like TV, Movies, Radio, etc. With GAAS being a thing and the way we're experience content changing rapidly, we have to think about how to protect the user base from malicious activity.
I think one of the original inceptions of this push was that games can't be properly stored and studied from a historical perspective. Not only because of their consistent updates over time, but also games not being able to be engaged with because their service stopped.
Like, wouldn't it be interesting to find some hard drive somewhere with No Man's Sky 1.0 on it. Be able to load it up and compare it to today's version?
Or to be able to have a historical database of all the old MMOs that have come out and shut down? Have them in a playable state so that they can be studied and talk about unique things they did and the audience they catered to?
it's funny how humanity has servived for thousands of years on just a handful of stories and then suddenly we're drowning in an ocean of entertainment.
Oh yeah, we as animals are NOT ready for the digital age. Look how unhealthy office work in general is. We aren't built to sit in a box for 8 hours a day.
Yeah, even travel is horrible. Let's sit in a noisy box surrounded by other noisy boxes for 30-60 minutes while we travel to a place we hate to be stuck in another box for the majority of the day. Surprise surprise, road rage is a thing
why sit in a box? choose a profession that you dont have to
I was at a music festival for a week and used a Starlink to get internet in a forest and worked outdoors while hanging out and having fun
XD
I mean yeah, obviously, but not all jobs can do that.
remote work or wfh as well
Yeah, the best improvement to my mental health was fully remote work. It's a godsend just being able to walk away for a bit and not be in an office
one of the best thigns that happened with the pandemic was that companies realized it was possible to not have everyone in an office without the world ending
Yeah, going back to daily office work would be pretty difficult
There's a reason that RTO efforts have been met with great difficulty 😝
yeah
XD
i think the only ones really hurting are building property management.. at least here in the city haha
road rage is usually just people being entitled
and not recognizing that their experience of traffic is not unique, they are traffic, part of the problem.
or like maybe some emotional regulation problem/impulse control problem, already exists in their life, and the frustration of driving is only a catalyst
i think also some form of dehumanization is involved - not seeing other drivers on the road as human, not being able to relate to them, not giving people the benefit of the doubt for why they turned left in the last moment, like maybe they are lost, or got distracted rather than they are out to get you and be mean on purpose.
i feel like people who road rage probably take too much concern with what other people are doing around them... but it's not our job to police the roads... and we should just set an example by driving properly ourselves rather than getting angry and breaking laws or driving like a lunatic as some form of revenge.
i don't get how to end expedition in no mans sky expedition
it only lets me go back to my save
and i can't seem to find a way to bring my inventory from expedition into my save?
i thought you could do it at the terminal but all the boxes are greyed out
i precisely saved all the inventory/multitool and ship upgrade slots so i could use them on my main save
and not seeing an obvious way to transfer them lol
You made a jab earlier about 'seems noone else knows and plays nms here lol',
Yet it seems to me you are the one quite unknowledgeable about nms. smh
_(You dont 'transfer inventory' between diff saves.
You can keep going with an expd-save as a normal game if you wish to keep that inv.
What you unlock for all saves are in the anomaly silv'-store to claim in any save, not inventory.)_
but you can bring inventory from your regular save into an expedition
but you cant bring inventory from expedition into your regular save?
what does this mean?
"If you started the expedition from within an existing save, your wallet transfers when you end the expedition and you can transfer 8 stacks of tech and 24 stacks of cargo. So yes, you can access some of the intermediate rewards."
if this is true, then when you end an expedition you should be able to bring things back to regular save?
did anyone ever end an expedition here who can confirm?
my issue right now is i am not sure how to end my expedition, it doesn't let me
do i need the optional rewards done first?
(not very "optional" if so)
otherwise do i need to wait 4 weeks for the expedition to finish
Yeah, I have no idea, you might need to find a NMS forum/discord or something.
I like the idea of the expeditions but I've never actually done one 😝
"Under the old expedition system, you created a new save to play expeditions. The only rewards that transferred were the entitlements from the "phases" and the final big reward. Everything else obtained during the expedition, including the between-phase milestone rewards, ships, multi-tools, units, nanites, and unspent quicksilver were lost unless you used a save editor to copy things over to a different save.
That's been changed, to a degree, now. When an expedition is available, you now have the option to start the expedition from within an existing save. That existing save becomes your "main" save. When you end the expedition you still get your phase and final entitlements, but you are also presented with a screen that allows you to store up to 8 stacks of tech and 24 stacks of cargo (which can include milestone rewards if you desire), then a roll of your accomplishments is tallied and valued in units and nanites which are added to your expedition save totals. Finally, your expedition units, nanites, and quicksilver are transferred to your main save and the expedition save is deleted. When you get back to your main save, you can claim those stored tech and cargo, as well as make copies of the last equipped multi-tool and ship from your expedition into your main save. This all, in effect, allows you to merge over a lot more rewards than previously possible. "
so.... my understanding is if i can end this expedition, i can choose to bring inventory back to main save
Lol yeah
if i joined NMS discord, i'd end up writing about little various things that need improvement still, whereas bunch of people played NMS here and posted about it too.
Anyways i have played NMS and expd alot, so i do know how they work
But sure, val want to argue from not knowing as usual?
maybe you just remember an older update of the game, similar to how i thought vukah weren't in trees because i played an older version of enshrouded
....
why coudln't u just join and ask the question you want the answer to? it sounds like a server dedicated to the game with about 100k people on it would be useful
according to these posts that people made this year in february i should be able to bring inventory to a main save from an expedition
I gave answer anyways
Just finished latest expd. But sure ive outdated knowledge since i last played it 2 days ago ^^
how did you end the expedition?
it's not letting me end it because i don't have the optional community missions done
You dont have to "press a special end button" and its "ended"
Either keep killing until com-goal is done, or move back to main save and claim rewards there
so it ends on its own?
i remember in past expeditions you clicked "finish expedition" button
Its not very important to wait on the side goals
Yes, if you want to keep playing on the same save as expd
oh, i opened my expedition from my main save, so i don't get the option to finish from either side. lol
As i said, the distinction is there, but since my answers are worthless and it feels unthankful i dont wish to engage more.
its just a return to main save button basically
...
sorry i'm just trying to understand, thanks for the help
You are welcome i guess.
if you are using your main save for an expedition , you started the expedition in the Anomaly and also have to go back there to finish it. That is also where you do the transfering of items.
i did
but i take it, i need to complete the optionals to end the expedition or something
no, dont need to. If the console isnt letting you finish, did you grab all the rewards, including the actual tier reward off the medals at the bottom of each tier?
i grabbed the rewards from the vendor back on my main save
but in the expedition it still allows me to grab the rewards
correct
oh so if i grab them? then it will allow me to transfer items?
i was hoping i could transfer the items without having to end the expedition even, but i want the optionals too
but people not killing stuff i guess, it's taking forever to complete the optionals
i know, its a pain and taking forever for people to finish it. only on t3 right now
same
mine is like 80% complete for t3
and still need t3, t4, t5
i logon every day though and kill 50 more bugs
as a weldshop worker, I cant relate. at all.
i was reading some people complaining about NMS expedition community task... how they are leaving the country for 1 month in a few weeks and wont be able to finish the expedition with the optional rewards, if the optionals are still not done by the time they have to leave. lol basically that expeditions are 5 weeks long to give people access, and shouldn't actually take 5 weeks to complete fully. and i think i agree... it shouldn't take more than a week to finish to an expedition. i read usually it takes something like 16 hours. but with the community rewards it's easily turning into a couple of weeks... it takes like 2-3 days for each optional to complete. 3x5 is 15, so it will take two weeks? if we're lucky.
We should just rename this chat to NMS.
it's the other game i'm playing right now, and it's the other games channel
there's 10k people on server, you all could definitely drown me out with other game talk
I heard they have their own discord
i'm only in 10 discord servers
don't want to add too many
every game brought up in here has another discord channel, i don't get the problem
is this the channel only for youtube links to the latest games? then add a slowmode timer on it of 30 minutes
or is this for game discussion
Yeah it's nbd, I think just no one has started a conversation about another game in the last couple days 🤷♀️
someone linked their fallout 4 playthrough i think
and then the euro game petition for games to last forever
Yeah, I ranted about that for a while 😝
im also playing enshrouded now
just started the game to grind some quests
because all i can do in NMS really is log on and kill bugs daily to try get the community reward going lol, it's too much work to go back and forth between main save and expedition, until the expedition is completed.
so i need another game to play while i wait
Anyone playing 7days to die now that it's out?
I tried it last weekend and it doesn't seem much different
I did a playthrough w hen the put the experiment version out. The core gameplay is pretty much the same. They just slowed down the loot progression, nerfed trader rewards, and changed the way armor works. Then there's a bunch of visual updates and stuff too but those don't have a big impact
Some new POIs as well, but I was hoping for something that feels like new content. New traps, base mechanics, or other things that change your gameplay cycle
The building is way too grindy for me so I mod it lol
I am not spending 100 hours mining again just to build 1/2 of my base
7d2d has a problem that a LOT of games have for me. I "beat" the mechanics and then the game starts to get boring. Since the main mechanic for 7d2d is the raids, once my horde base is fully operational and survives a few hordes without issues I tend to get bored.
It doesn't help that their development pace is so slow that it feels like basically the same game every time I come back to it

One of my semi-openworld builds in Tower Unite ^^
Its the best build system hands down and where i spend my creativity ever since. This is build from empty space/scratch ^^
same problem I had with 7d2d, put in about 25ish hours with friends, couldn't do it after the 5th hoard night.....
Yeah you get to that point where you're comfortable and just drift away from the game. And that's okay, but it never feels like a proper "end"
play some no more room in hell
they were making NMRIH2 but it's been taking them 13 years
No More Room in Hell 2 is an intense & terrifying permadeath co-op journey into the eerie darkness of zombie-infested zones. HEY ANYONE ON ENSHROUDD
?
What about the side game enshrouder
My favorite is ''Shrooms : An Enshroudest Story''
Shoot, I think I bought a knockoff. Got me Enshroudn't
Enshroudly
Enshroudthis
lol enshroudeez
EnshroudedBoffa
lol my nms optional community reward progress reset to zero? before i could unlock phase 5 @misty arch
stupid game... i hope this is a glitch
waiting 3 days for each phase to complete has been a horrible experience
and looks like no patch is coming
ill check mine and see what happens
just use a character editor.
i joined NMS discord
it's a real crap show
has to be the most epically disorienting discord that is all over the place, that i ever saw
with 1 million role colours
but i'm going to join their other games channel there, and talk about enshrouded
LOL
while i talk about NMS here 😛
the NMS discord has a channel list 3x longer than this discords
and they have VC channels
and their self role system is without embeds
like writing some text putting an emoji, if you're going to self role, make a bot and post embeds imo
anyway their discord feels like utter chaos, the energy is chaos
but yeah really makes you appreciate how enshrouded setup their discord
I sat down for an interview with Dune Awakening's creative director, Joel Bylos. We discussed the upcoming MMOs opening hours, PvE content, biome variety, how PvP works, and much more. Here's what I learned!
ha ha ha ha ha ha do it
we posting skyrim now? heres one i took at some point
This is my last big Dark Elf Build in Planet Coaster. REALLY NEED PURPLE LUMI BLOX!!!
Very spoopy
I really want similar vibes in Enshrouded. Need purple lumi blox and black marble too if I am honest.
🤞
@sacred charm it looks cool, I havent been able to playtest it because everytime there is a window I'm working
Thanks, I'll put it in my wish list for now, the graphics seemed cool so I was curious
sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!
RDR online.
nice looks pretty realistic
Normal settings
Upped settings a bit
It has a peculiar LOD, and it feels there is a bit of a loss of sharpness regardless of settings.
But there is a nice amount of detail and foliage (mebbe uses nanites)
(The first was the games recommended settings, beside me raising the DLLS to 80'ish (quality))
Not sure i am interested in the game itself yet, but was interested in the benchmark as it stands atleast.
Wait its out?????
Only a benchmark test for it!
I managed a solid 120 was kinda suprised
It seems pretty unheavy
But i can tell it does quite some lod culling, but looks alright ^^

RIP Dragon Age...
I had a little trip to their discord and it didn't go well
The players worshipping this terrible game are the ones you would expect...
If I had replied to Tobruk's official release date trailer would that have made it less weird for you?
Is it venting to discuss other games in #other-games ?
I always wanted a new Dragon Age to come out and this is terrible so I'm expressing my disappointment
I mean, it's not really a discussion. That would be sharing of opinions about the things in the gameplay that do bother you. Actually you did show us examples of people that seem to like the game the way it is. I feel theres a lack of groundwork to actually talk about the topic you want to have a talk about.
Posting us the examples just is making a vent for people you encountered, that you don't like and most of us weren't there. 😅
I can feel it if a game does not go the way you like, but I feel talking about the people (as it is in this case) won't help anyone. We only see you trying to have a discussion.
Ah well I understand your point. You can't know what the discussion was about and why they responded that way, but I only joined their discord because I was curious about the game, and also about what people thought of it. When I brought up the points that I disliked about the game, I was trashed, blocked, and asked to leave. Then I noticed who I was dealing with, and it's a bunch of people who worship and promote a certain agenda, seemingly. So, sorry about the screenshots, I guess they're irrelevant.
When I joined their discord, my goal was to discuss my opinions about the things in the gameplay, but there was no chance I'd do that.
The only way to conversate was to repeat how beautiful flowers are. Anything else was perceived as negativity rather than criticism. :/
But you're free to tell us, what did bother you. As long as you leave the people (and their names) out of the discussion. (It does not matter who said it. 😉)
But also the thing about negativity vs. valid criticism is a topic where worlds collide. 😅
Very emotional topic for some.
Yeah I'll never understand that.. we don't build a better future by seeing only negativity in criticism and debating whether things are good or worse...
If anyone cares, graphics of the new Dragon Age look like they're from 2017.
The combat appears to be insanely boring. The same moves are shown over and over, and the contact they make visually seems poor...
The overall vibe of Dragon Age has disappeared and been replaced by some shiny colours and cringe dialogue.
Anyone can compare DA: Origins trailer with this one and see the divergence. It's too bad. 😕
Don't let it disheart you.
Some people get very defensive about things they love, while others accuse them about being defensive.
In my example for Enshrouded, it is missing out an opportunity in the lack of coins for decorations. We can build a museum, armory, relic/gift shop, but not a treasure chamber. Missing an opportunity from my view.
Hmmm but that's just an idea that can be implemented, easy to not be dishearted by that, it could come any day! 🙂
The thing is Enshrouded is a very beautiful game. The gameplay is relatively fluent and can be different depending on what you play, and there's no cringe dialogue or failed promises. Also, they don't try to sell their game for $220
You won't know how many times I got criticism about being defensive for Enshrouded, while just pointing out the state of things. 😂
Anyway. Not derailing in here. Wish u luck to find someone who shares your insight / can have a polite discussion about Dragon Age with u.
Oh thanks but I didn't mean to discuss much, just wanted to see if anyone else shared a disappointment in what seems like a dismantling of what the franchise was. RIP DA, thankfully games like Enshrouded are here! 😛
I think the posts was fine, they are material for other-games discussion and thus fit here at least, no matter our diff opinions. ^^
But im just a vukah mum (i.e knows best) ^^ gwrah!
Yeah but I understand where Vanolia came from with it, as the exposure of the people from that Discord was unnecessary... but I really felt like it was worth sharing.
You can tell a bit about something judging from its audience, in general.
IMO it's a really bad direction these companies are taking lately, and I'm just disappointed that these are taken with series of games that I really enjoyed.
DA: Origins trailer was so brutal and now DA: Veilguard trailer is like so soft... to say the least... sigh
i never liked dragon age
Gameplay is probably not for everyone, but the quality of the games they made was considerable
Also story was really decent
yeah they were saying so at the time so i bought the game and played it
but i didn't agree after i played it, didn't find it exceptional quality
the dragons looked like fatsos
which i also didn't like
Haha well it was decent for its time I think, Idk...
Last game they had made was 2014
Nothing like the graphics we have today
Also Veilguard looks almost like the one from 2014, graphics-wise... rip
veilguard does look worse than origins, and i thought origins was bad and didn't like it lol
but i guess i should get a fresh perspective and play the game again
it's been forever
10 years later and they make a worse game
But don't go saying that in their safe space, because ironically they'll bash you
and i've grown in my opinions since then
When I first tried a Dragon Age game (I don't remember which) I felt kinda weird and didn't really like it at first. The gameplay, the stop camera, top view, all that, I was like meh
But you learn to really appreciate it because it's pretty well made
Inquisition I think was free on Epic Games or something, too, so if you've been grabbing the freebies you could play it for free
imo you should be able to criticize any game as long as you give a specific critique (Rather than just "the game is bad 1/10" as long as the critique is worded respectfully and comes with something positive to say about the game. it's always dangerous to critique things online because all information on tone is gone, and context sometimes, not every detail can be written in a texting type format... and misunderstandings are inevitable... plus the online culture is to correct everyone and not give them the benefit of the doubt, but read into what someone types the most unforgiving interpretation of what they are saying.
Ah since Veilguard was announced, all DA games are like less than 5 dollars on Steam right now
Dragon Age Origins was alright, a bit here and there compared to BG2
Dragon age 2 and inquisition... no
did not agree with them. inquisition felt narrow tunnel like
and having npcs run around wildly flailing is not a type of combat i like in RPGs, i like it to be controlled and measured and not AI autobattling around me.
My issue is that it seems we can only talk positively of something
But saying repeatedly how beautiful flowers are is not constructive
Criticism is often not so positive, but it's what lets things improve themselves. It's too bad people get so emotionally involved when your opinion differs from theirs.
Yeah it's clearly a whole different type of game and gameplay... I think Divinity is similar but in the end, what an amazing game
Inquisition felt empty and mmo-like (and i really do not like mmo's)
if i criticize a game, i usually just go with "i wish we could do this" and explain the suggested feature i'd like to see, which comes across more like a suggestion than a critique.
but yeah everyone can have their strong opinions, and dislikes
But isn't it weird that we have to adapt our words so carefuly as to not hurt the feelings of others? What the hell...
(val is not a person i like in "discussions", so i will leave it there. it drains too much energy to untangle their guesses)
I mean I'm not insulting their mothers...
yeah, but i agree with your interpretation of the dragon age series in this case, good insights
Your take is very valid though
I expected DA not to be appreciated by everyone, but my issue is Veilguard, how it looks and the path it's on... sigh
yeah i mean.. sometimes? i think the internet and anonymity allows us to be more liberal with our speech than we would be in person sometimes? more free, more open, more unfiltered, more comfortable, and so sometimes you need to correct for that... because it's already unbalanced given the medium. in general if you're already a nice person, then you're already speaking in ways not to hurt others feelings... and so it's not going to require extreme effort to type in line with those values or the way you already behave in person.
i think sometimes people feel restricted in person, so they let it all go online 😄
thus is born the internet troll or twitter troll
But while being a nice person, you can also be a critic in many spheres of your life.
I like to debate and to discuss things but not when it feels like I have to adapt my language as if I was speaking to touchy people or pretty much children.
I just find it ironic that these people were all about acceptation and having a good vibe, but as soon as someone is disappointed in something and shows it and it doesn't align with their train of thoughts, they'll bash them and silence them. Very weird response.
And the way they jerk each other off like that, it reminds me of bullies in high school...
Come to think of it, maybe it has a root with that
it's not so weird on discord. it's basically an app where each time you join a server you need to test the social boundaries because every single server is different. which is partly why i don't like joining servers that much. but it's akin to entering a room with a different group of people each time i guess? everyone is making their own rules, enforcing those rules differently, some with hypocrisy, some not... some discord communities truly are more tolerant, others are little fascist regimes with narcissists running the show etc.
lol
Oh yeah totally
I noticed that aswell
It doesn't reflect my reality in real life though... people are not so touchy or whatever, so I wonder why that ideology is pushed so much
i'd say the more extreme versions are usually not game servers though, since they are bound by some code conduct and it's not good PR to ban your customers.
It makes a really weird environment
I think what describes it best was some image, let me see if I can find it
I always think of this when I see a soft population
I think this cycle might have truth in it
Yeah. I had zero context of what actually happened in that discord you posted screens from so to me it was just you complaining about some random interaction on a server I'm not even part of lmao
Haha yeah totally understandable
My tact to reach the subject was probably questionable
I guess I was pretty confused by what just happened, felt like it was worth sharing
As someone who only liked DA: Origins I kind of expected this new DA to not be something I would enjoy. Its been 14 years. I don't expect them to magically remember what their old fanbase enjoyed and make something similar. Its clear they are going for a new audience.
Its like how I don't expect people to enjoy modern final fantasy games if they were fans of the OG games on Nintendo and SNES
Should be fairly easy for their team to have them play a bit of what was a success by then before sending them into their office to make a new game... 😒
I will try veilguard, it seems different from DA2 and Inquisition too (not only origins) and if the combat feels less mmo and its not too corridor (it might be some)
it looks to be alright.
each DA game seems different to be honest.
I mean it could be worse but from my first peak I don't expect it to be more than a 6/10
Asmongold made a video or two giving his 2 cents about it and I thought he speaks for almost everyone regarding how we feel about it and our expectations
I'm sure it will be somewhat enjoyable, but my standards are higher than that for a game from such a company. Hell, even games like Enshrouded beat our expectations. Small teams doing amazing.
And we're here saying it's fine that these big companies make "meh" games. The world's upside down haha
Eeeehm.
Asmongold is not an RPG player, he is an action enjoyer.
I dont agree ans trust his opinions on much - seeing as he skips dialogue and mechanics and flashmashes games - and then starts flailing together with the 'woooke' crowd.
So no, Asmond doesnt talk for roleplaying gamers (maybe action mmo wow gamers dunno)
No idea what hes said about veilguard, but he is deffo not someone i share rpg views with
Ahhh I guess I wouldn't know how he is globally
I just happen to have watched those and he didn't skip anything, gave an honest opinion, to which I mostly agreed.
i usually watch gameplay videos on mute
because it's just peoples opinions, and i can judge for myself based on what i am seeing
it's the same with news, why do i need news anchors to sit around talking to me 10 minutes telling me their opinion?
tell me the news, prove it with facts and video. that's all i want.
this is why i don't watch any youtube movie review videos
i watch the movie
i don't really get the whole narrative of "flailing together with the 'woke' crowd"
what makes a good RPG is story, world building, dialogue, meaningful choices that impact your character or the world, and good character development. everything else is about making a good game. you can have a good RPG, but a bad game, sure they intersect a bit... and do affect each other but they are kind of separate or you can have a good game, but a kind of lackluster RPG.
like in skyrim the big problem was that most deadric gods were evil, so the players choice was to be rewarded for being kind of scummy, or outright evil, or get no rewards at all if you are good and sort of piss off every god in the process.
in that sense, i didn't really enjoy the RPG elements
but they sort of built a world where every god was crappy - they gave you choices, but you felt punished for doing the right thing.
I feel that the difference for most small vs large dev teams is that they have to answer to a lot of people and are influenced by shareholders. Treat every game as a new one for IPs that have been dormant for a while and the fact that a lot of the DA staff left 8+ years ago
I'm curious where the story will go since blood magic is treated the way it is
I'll probably end up picking it up on sale due to how many games there are to play
I can definitely understand where you're coming from. Veilguard seems to totally change the tone and feel of the Dragon Age universe. I was really excited to hear they're going to Tevinter because of all the interesting stuff with mages and blood magic in the universe, but the more I hear about it, the more it feels like they're just moving away from the original lore into doing a completely different thing.
At a certain point, you're going to alienate the original fans to a point where it's like... why not just make a new original IP rather than totally change an existing one?
shouldn't be anything inherently wrong with focusing on a new part of their world in theory... like ddo took place in waterdeep when other dnd games didn't take place there, giving it a new setting and new stories to explore.
(It means that asmond has shared sentiments with people going "THEY TURN OUR GAMES WOOOKE CUS WOMAN NOT D-CUP ANIME REEE")
But the reply was also not for you, if you do not have the context.
Yeah, the regional differences arent a problem, its more of a 180 degree tone shift. Like the new one feels more bombastic action than dark gritty and that feels very off for fans of the older games.
And on top of that the gameplay shown so far feels like it's been... AAA-genericized? Like all the flavor has been removed to it can appeal to any audience.
I dont have a problem with the presented gameplay and action in a vacuum, it just doesnt feel like it does service to the established Dragon Age lore/games. Kinda like how the new Star Wars films felt less Star Wars and more Disney
I hope I'm wrong and the game is great, of course, but thats the current feeling I have
so like god of war
Yeah kinda.
Maybe they pull it off like God of War where its creates a whole new set of fans
It worked pretty well in GoW case. The recent games were pretty well received
Yeah, the new GoW games were very good. That's definitely a key aspect. If Veilguard is different, but still good, there will be few lasting complaints.
yeah the new GOW games hit me right in the feels. poor Brok
League of Legends is life,
League is my past time after Enshrouded.
Enshrouded is true vukah.
For waaaagh, will fell abolish,
And remember true twbe
Gwwrah?
As someone who decided to play through the original Dragon Age Origins after seeing the Veilguard announcement (just finished encountering the lore for how Darkspawn are made, and aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh)
I do kinda understand how long term fans could feel it's a bit meh if they go away from the dark and gritty feel. Really hope they'll still have tons of lore spread all over the place and at least follow what they've already written (then again, I have no idea yet of how they dealt with that for the next two games, since I haven't gotten to those yet)
let's hope for the best, and that they haven't let the business 'optimize for everyone' peeps too close to the people creating the game
Enshrouded excited me, so I decided to make a base in Empyrion like the one I last created in Enschrouded. Here is the result.
What do we feel about Dragon Age: The Veilguard so far?
I am carefully optimistic.
I didnt like da2 and inquisition, so if its less 'mmo feel' then that.
Mood looks better then inquisition
I am just thrilled to see our dwarfish friend again
Ive settled to just try it, can't guess how it will feel before that.
I hope there is exploration and good dialogue.
Empyrion has SUCH a good build system. I'm having a very hard time with Enshrouded's
I've always liked Empyrion, but the building always feels super clunky to me when I try to play it
Ship building I struggled with, but as far as, you point your cursor and block goes where you point it, I find it it better. I really dig the insane amount of texture blocks you can get in enshrouded, but I'm really struggling with getting things where I want them to go without multiple attempts.
i prefer space engineers
I've never actually found a sci-fi game that I've loved the building in for some reason. I think NMS is the closest because of the frigates and building your base in them, but I can't stand the planetside base building.
never did planet side, but i have nothing against block building games
i get more annoyed with full wall assets etc. like placing down walls, but it works good in enshrouded, and valheim because they are sort of a combination of that and block building.
NMS is dislike everything pretty much about the build system
prefabs i don't like the look of, reminds me of subnautica, but subnautica was maybe better? but still not my favourite type of building, subnautica...
walls, i don't like their wall assets? maybe wood is nice, but not too fond of alloy, stone etc.
so for NMS is comes down to prefab squares for me, i think i prefer making bases out of those because at least it feels like block building, but the block is the entire room.
and they are neat, and look nice, and you can edit in cute windows
NMS prefabs predate subnautica by years.
