I look at all upcoming MMOs and Survival games these days. Lots of cool projects in the works
Pax Dei does look really cool if they can pull it off
I'm really hoping that some MMO project can really nail it, so we can usher in a new age of modern MMOs that try new things and innovate in interesting ways.
Oh that's neat
What are some of the more interesting ones you've seen?
Minus enshrouded
For me, Sunkenland, Rooted, Aska, pax Dei, quinfall, nightingale,
Among others
Waited for Throne And Liberty too, but from what i read the game is trash
Ashes of Creation as well
Any game with autoplay is an instant no from me. Also any game the is a simultaneous release on mobile and PC
Agreed
I want a deep PC MMO that I can engage with that has interesting mechanics, worlds, and theorycrafting. Good combat that is fun to engage with, interesting crafting systems and good solid social systems.
Thats why i say, it seems to be trash
It feels like a big list, but it's what I think an MMO needs to be successful in today's world.
It also has to do something unique and interesting. For example, New World was a solid MMO in a lot of ways, but it felt so "paint by numbers" and so safe that my friends all stopped being interesting in it and there was no real community to engage with. It was a solo MMO.
I also think, they need to decide wether they want to be pvp or pve centric, bith doesn't work in most cases
Agreeed. FF14 is a good example. Technically it has PvP but it's a very PvE centric MMO, and it excels at that.
I just don't like it because the combat is booooooring
The only MMO that really was good at both was Dark Ages of Camelot
Archeage was really good before the cash shop woes. One point in Ashes of Creation's favor is that the CEO has cited original Archeage as something to emulate.
The P2W cash shop really killed it.
The open world PvP in archeage was really cool because of the ship combat, trade packs, piracy and all that stuff
That's what I really loved. It felt like a cool, dangerous world to be in.
Guilds were really good, but you could also engage with the systems as a small group or solo. You just had to play stealthy
But with save havens where pve players could do their thing too
Yeah
It was a good balance. They had the justice system too, which while primitive was an interesting way to manage things. Like you actually got sent to jail and judged by other players? That's pretty cool.
Sadly in many games alot of "pvpers" do not want fair, challenging pvp... they want to grieve newbs mostly
Yeah, and a lot of PvP games don't really design PvP with actual humans in mind. Like think of all the games where zergs just take over everything. You gotta understand that megaguilds are going to exist and build systems that can support both the giant zerg and the group of 3-6 friends that want to have fun. Both are super important to a healthy MMO
Sorry we totally hijacked your question @reef bobcat 😝 I may or may not be passionate about MMO development.
Oh don't worry lightrunner answered it
Well and naturally Starfield
I'm not even considering that until it goes on sale
Not for the game itself mostly, will be interesring what modders do with it though
Animal taming and riding.
Normally animals run away if they see you or you fail to tame, I'm using noRunAway so I can show.
Animals lose 1 food every 12 game hours. At 4 or less food they wont let you mount until you feed them.
Also you can press a button to whistle to have the animal follow you while not mounted.
that deer runs like it has big stick stuck somewhere
but for start really good looking
also deer looks like deer
yea, i might be replacing the animals with a style of the enemies soon.
I mean the deer look good running normal. From behind yea it looks a bit odd.
Ok, finally found a great reference for all of our age related chats.
I started playing in B, but didn't own until D.
F, I had a gameboy advance but more G. I had everything there except the PlayStation
Wow! I thought B was the start of the era. I remember the bottom left of A, but the other 3 I have no recalection of.
Points for the inclusion of the sega gamegear in D. I feel like I'm one of like 7 people worldwide who had one of those things 😝
started with B, because I had older siblings who had owned some pretty old systems!! Didn't own my own until the SNES
I (think) the first console my family had was a PlayStation 2, I think that’s E?
My own first one was an Xbox 360 so G I think
We had an original DS somewhere as well, probably still do. But I know those ain’t mega old.. nearly the same age as me actually.
Started in D
last day to sign up for Palia stress test. last invites go out tomorrow on the 30th. believe it's only a 4 hour stress test in which you get to stare at lagging people and disconnect messages.
I have not lagged yet during any of the testing for Palia. I've actually enjoyed it.
I had the sega battery eater too! ❤️
don't think they sent out 300k invites in the other tests
Ugh! Getting sick of Valheim's bugs, glitches, and constant issues with losing stuff and saves. Endleslessy building as a vanilla player is fun - but I need something else in my life lol - As a youtuber - I'm always looking to find a niche - Any co-op horror gamers here?
Personally never been big into the horror genre of anything. I did play F.E.A.R with friends years ago, but that's more of a shooter than horror.
Play 7dtd with wife, but that's a survival game with zombies as the thing to survive against, so again not horror.
The Forest and Sons of the Forest are the biggest horror survival games out there, you can definitely play them co-op
I've never had any big bugs/glitches with valheim
Same here, no problems with Valheim
Too bad it's like that for you as it's a great game but I've built so much and I need to find the strength to keep building the thing I want
I’m really liking the looks of Outlast Trials
7 days 2 die has new update 21 on release.
Zombies not horror? They've become the norm now eh lol
Yeah, I’m looking for horror multiplayer.
Outlast Trials has my attention.
Just looking for fellow horror gamer fans.
I have VR - and some horror games, but tbh - some of them feel to real it freaks me out lol
alien isolation did me like that...although thats only SP...
My friends love dead by daylight and Friday the 13th but I'm not really into asymmetric play.
Once you get used to zombies in 7d2d they just arent that scary anymore.
They're more annoying than anything
Especially when tfp decide to redesign them every time someone comes up with a viable strat to exploit them
Yeah, I wouldn't call them horror, just another obstacle in the game.
And played 7dtd A21 last night, some changes I like, some I don't
Zombies need guns. Then they become scary again lol
that zombie's got armor, i want armor!
I'm a huge Outlast fan and I didn't care for Trials. I thought I would enjoy it more.
I absolutely loved Alien Isolation and the dlcs
Under A Rock is a upcoming open-world game procedural open-world survival craft game for 1-10 players. Explore a primitive but dangerous place with a different evolutionary path; here, wildlife is oversized, Neanderthals still exist, and curses are real. This is the upcoming open world games 2023 in Unreal Engine 5 which is coming for PC and Con...
not too shabby
game is not in any testing phase yet. no release date, no beta and no alpha yet.
i'm at their discord since like forever..... and the community is actually fun and they try to keep everyone entertained with dodo hunts and such... BUT sadly no realy gameplay revealed yet so i'm still cautious (but interested, though)
i mean they have Devs
and the did lost animator ^^
i'm not gonna lie i fall in low with game once i seen it but i than i found for Enshrauded and iwas like HElloooooo
Agreed, it looks like an interesting game. I kind of wonder if we're going to see a new waves of copycat/low effort games because of new tools. UE5 offers so many building tools that allow easy game creation, and their store has some truly excellent pieces that you can simply buy that it feels like games are going to have to do more to start differentiating themselves from the pile. If you're looking to create a fairly simple survival game, a solo dev is going to be able to put one together pretty quick, so there's going to be a lot of mediocre but good looking games that pop out soon.
@stuck prism they did say the release date will be somewhat this year but at this rate i'm in big Doubt
Eeesh, if I were looking at releasing a game this year, I'd do anything I could to push it off to next year.
There's so much good/big stuff coming out this year that if you're releasing a game in a similar vein as another, you might end up with a BOTW/Horizon problem. Where your game is good, but if it came out second you just won't get as many people buying it.
i know right
There's just too much good coming out in too many genres
i really kinda got hoooked up on Valheim..but issue with Valheim is for mee at some point gets boring too much
So never played Survival games before but yea i think the most anticipated game for me atm is Enshouded
after that would be under Rock
I think I'd put Nightingale over Under a Rock
i'm not fan of first person games never liked it last time i played first person game was COD2
That's fair
Both are lagging on actually putting anything out, PAX DEI as well. (Well Nightingale supposedly in testing atm...I didn't get invited lol so won't be buying on release without me testing actual gameplay first)
whole slew of games thats in development still waiting on any testing or release dates...Blight survival, PAX DEI, Nightingale, Under-a-Rock, Dune: awakening, Ashfall, Star truckers, Manor Lords, Gord, Ahoy, Star wars: outlaws, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.
Enshrouded 😛 lol
just like "Way of the hunter" bleh...bought it on sale 50% off, but after 47 min, seriously thinking of refunding it.
Yeah, there are a lot of games right now that are good prospects, but we don't have too many details on.
Windamere played my 3d open world survival game last night. Found a couple bugs.
guess who is bored and had too much freetime 😄 need to try that in enshrouded too
Oooh Conan Exiles? I think I built my base pretty close to that!!
yep 🙂 just started playing it again out of boredom 😛
as good a reason as any other!!
what's that?
This is basically me with 7d2d right now.
I'll probably move on to Valheim when they get their update out
They went on their summer holiday so looks like there's a chance that won't happen til August... But it was a pretty big bug that was keeping it back, so we will see.
They always go in July. Maybe you'll get lucky and they stayed back to do stuff, but they deserve their vacation, just like everyone else.
Yeah, I just know that August is gona be jam packed with awesome games to play, while July is just... empty right now
I thought most weren't out til Sept, but maybe it was games in August that just weren't calling to me like some of the others.
Remnant 2 is a big one that I'm looking forward to, and that's basically August. Then at the end of August is Armored Core, with BG3 nestled in there in the middle.
I'm going to play BG3 and maybe Starfield
me but both 😄
BG3 early pc release august 3rd
Yeah i'll be doing both also, already have BG3...just waiting on Starfield (Sept)
same
Step into the world of Tormentosia, where long-standing tensions between the various races have led to unending conflict. i like the building in this game but the combat looks bad
looks really early access
Building isn't good either. it's very very very basic.... bad snapping points, no doors, no diversity, etc pp. from all survival games it has been the worst i ever experienced.
the game is far behind pre-alpha stage (that's how it feels when playing) but they hit early access at steam soon because that's their business modell to fund the development.
lol - from come play me to come fund me 😛
We've got some new details for Blizzard's upcoming survival MMO. Digging through job listings shows us further confirmation that beyond the survival mechanics, the game looks to have tons of Open World MMO features. Dungeons, Raids, PvP, World Events, Points of Interest, and much more.
i'm exited for this
yes i love the idea being online and you can play survival game with other people
Yeah, cautious optimism. Hopefully since it's going to be a new IP they'll be willing to take some risks and innovate on the genre in their own way.
and then, they totally fubar it by adding PVP lol
don't ever trust activision
this is not gonna be part of activision
Regardless blizzard has been very bad recently
It sounds more like an MMO with survival elements than a survival game, even if that's how they're pushing it.
what you mean not part of activision?
if you think blizzard is somehow not activision, you need to look at the documentation because activision owns blizzard. they bought it for the name to make money trending on the name, end of story. blizzard is in no way apart of it's old self, it is run completely by activision.
it has been this way for a decade and a half
tbh I hate conans combat
We shall see... Blizzcon will bring more information!
So you never played newst cods or etc?
i don't think there is an issue with game due the bad company managment
anyway story for other day i'm just saying we shall see how game will look like once there is gonna be more info
New cod defender yikes
my last cod i was playing was CoD2 and COd 4 modern warfare or something like that
this new cods are not somethimg i m into but as i seen people are buying and loving it. Depents on personal taste i guess
call of dooty pffff
Just seen another MMO

is not bad :S
Ah md
Unbelievably boring after a while to me
Lol, Enshrouded needs to release. I'm stuck sucking my friends into getting pissed off in Don't Starve Together
I'm just tricking them into "surviving" hordes in 7d2d. Good times.
I think I landed the Money Shot there
something was just thunderstruck
Meh, you can just buy thunderstruck logs off the MTX market now. (RIP Archeage)
We've got some new updates for Pax Dei, the upcoming open world, low fantasy, Survival MMO with huge ambitions to advance the genre. Thanks to Call of Dragons for sponsoring today's video! Master dragons to rule this world! Download Call of Dragons here: https://bit.ly/CoDMonster_ForceGaming
Yeah, I'm cautiously optimmistic for Pax Dei
i mean same
It does look real nice, but we gotta see their alpha and stuff to really tell
agreee
I'm curious how they're going to manage the MMO aspects of it. Like is there going to be shards where you can build your plots and stuff to make sure there's enough space for everyone? Or is there going to be an Archeage-style land rush at the start of the game?
I'm also curious about their 'economy' stuff. A lot of MMOs have tried to do the 'entire player-run economy' thing but they forget that to make their economy function there needs to be some form of entropy / resource loss. Otherwise resources just stockpile forever and the economy goes wild.
An example of player built worlds that worries me is this one game I can't remember the name of immediately
Wurm online I think it was
Every MMO that referenced EvE Online as an inspiration 😝
I feel like there were a lot of smaller ones that fell apart within 3-5 months of release
Definitely
I've enjoyed reading stories of EvE battles and betrayals, but to hell with ever trying to play that game
EvE corporate espionage stories are always enjoyable, for sure.
EvE's success is definitely reproducible, Albion Online did the same exact thing and IMO it works even better. That games economy has been great so far
Yeah I've heard Albion is good, i could never get into it though
Certainly not without its flaws, biggest one being that without a guild the game feels borderline unplayable, at least in my opinion. Really not a great game for solo or small group players. I mean it's still technically playable, but you'll constantly feel like you're wasting your time or fighting an uphill battle
For Eve Online my understanding is they have a full time economist on staff to make sure the economy doesn't get out of whack. His name is Eyjolfur “Eyjo” Guðmundsson. Tons of articles about it as well...

I'm amazed I've never seen this game until now
The chisel tool reminds me a lot of what enshrouded is going for
I've enjoyed the betas so far
it has a nice relaxing touch to it, can't wait to finally play it
Im Looking for a friend(s) to play bulders gate 3 with. Pretty new to turn based games and brand new to d&d
Got to love a character editor (fallout 4)
Ah yes discord compression… forgot that can ruin screenshots
I don't think we can blame discord for the horrors of THAT screenshot!
Oh no.. I mean it’s worse in game
reminds me of the wild create a character designs coming out of Street Fighter 6
Why does palia remind me of toon town?
You should check out Star Trek Online... 😂
Howdy doody guys?
doody? call of doody?
hahah
Doody Howser MD?
@quartz pike
@languid wolf #the-tavern message Not a self promo but how could you not get into a game with let's you stomp around with a pet turtle 😆
Haha, hm, that's a good question. I think it is not that the game was bad. But I think I was distracted by other games, that it didn't have enough to pull me away haha
I played a few times with a friend who was very much into it
https://vm.tiktok.com/ZGJ4bgkj8/
One thing you'll find is I am very biased to portal knights I love it 😀 I can't wait for their next game
Haha, that tiktok is cute though
Does that mean you becom ethe turtle?
Or is that the pet
Any fans of Outward in here? I never got very far in it, but it does have similar vibes in some aspects
I just hope Enshrouded will be less jank, because boy is Outward some jank
Outward was good. Combat kind of clunky, but it was a nice overall experience. Nice to see it get a definitive addition also. 🙂
I love Outward on a theoretical level, let's say
It doesn't quite live up to the promise, but it does have that pinch of that just right in it
it does! i hadnt realized
The spellcasting, while punishing at times, is really innovative
Also we modded in bigger multiplayer for Outward, so it was really interesting when we had like a proper frontline-backline split
We just uhh, never got back to it because we kinda just forgor
And we play like two dozen games so it just got cycled out
Yeah, I agree with the sentiment of liking it in theory. I did enjoy my time with it, but once you figured it out it got kind of thin
Any fellow For The King players?
It was for sure. I never beat it either. Those krakens would usually end me before I could get to the final castle.
Figured I’d ask here, cuz I’m a small YouTuber looking for fellow gamers to stream with. And this was one of the games on my list.
gods i love that game, super stoked for the new game. I played the beta test they had and it was punishing but fun compared to the origirnal
It's the perfect "pick it up and go for a round with your friends" kinda game.
especially hildebrandt cellar where there's really no major commitment
Agreed. When it came to Xbox, I got my friend hooked, and we’d play all night til we passed out lol
Haven’t played it in a year or so. Figured since 2 is around the corner, I’d start streaming 1 for fun.
I had the beta invite for 2 as well 😃 but forgot to get on steam while it was going on and missed it by a day 😞.
So now I’m just LFG for peeps to game 1 with until 2 drops.
And this Dave The Diver game looks pretty amazeballs too.
I'd hop into a game or two with ya, but my time schedule is weird. pop me a DM and i can tell you about it there. I do have a bit of an itch to beat the king of the sea
Heck yeah! 100% FTK, and had a great time with the beta they had for FTK 2! A lot to look forward to with the sequal! 😁
Yes!
I had the beta access and forgot about it for the time it was open 😞
Yeah, it was super brief during the period it was open beta too.
Had been lucky to get in sooner during the closed beta period ofc. 👌
There was an open beta? 🤦🏻
Definitely looking forward to FTK2
another upcoming game I'm looking forward to is Hammerwatch 2
for a very short period right after the closed beta yeah. I think it was only like two weeks.
FTK2, Enshrouded, Star field, Palia... The list goes on. This is the year of the RPG lol
Pain
Oh yeah, Lost Skies too
New spiritual succession for Worlds Adrift
By the same guys
oh yeah, I loved Worlds Adrift, so I'm looking forward to that
Their island builder was super fun
I still have the island builder downloaded and pop in from time to time just for the nostalgia
Such an awesome community it was
It was a cool game concept too, I'm glad it's going to mostly see the light of day again.
It really didn't need the PvP aspect, the storm and stuff was scary enough
Once you got past a storm wall, and the red tornado thing, PvP was really where the challenge was, who had the best crew and most useful ship
Plus hopping on and taking out the crew of another ship was sweet, just sucks that gankers would beat on newbies who ha barely built a ship capable of making it through stormwalls
Yeah, the standard PvP problem 😝
You guys over in the general area are killing me with the Valheim talk... I've never played that one either, might have to grab that while waiting for beta to start here... assuming I even get in the next Enshrouded beta
Valheim was great, but so much better in multi-player
Yep, we're just waiting for them to do their difficulty settings update so we can do a hardcore playthrough.
Lol
I miss slingshotting my ship into the heavens with the wonky ocean physics in Valheim before they patched it
I love all the videos of people sailing their ships down the side of mountains
Oh yeah that's fun as heck
You listed my list lol - Add PaxDei, and Dave the Diver (which I'm grabbing tonight), and new Valheim update...you got a match!
Do it! You won't regret it. There are so many unspoken inspirations that Valheim has that Enshrouded incorporated in their game, which has drawn so many of us Valheim players here!
Right now I'm hype for Palia, Enshrouded, Valheim update, PaxDei, and Starfield
Hyped for Enshrouded, rest of the time I'm playing 7 Days to Die with my wife or RimWorld on my lonesome
For folks who liked FTK, they might like Stolen Realm
Yall see this one yet? I'm a HUGE fan of HORROR games. But TBH too much of a wuss to play them on my own, so I prefer co-op horror, but am too much of an unlcuky person to find people to game with (the conundrum). And this looks pretty dope https://youtu.be/-szE7xyE3NY
Check out the new gameplay teaser for Carnival Hunt, an upcoming first-person asymmetrical multiplayer horror game from Beer Night Studio in which one player takes the role of the carnival monster while the rest are bunnies. This game called vintage story just looks, feels and plays so damn good even with 50+ mods loads in seconds 😁
I think that's called minecraft haha
Nope 2 different games they both are just voxel style
Mc will never look this great without using shaders and hundreds of mods

Thanks for sharing about this, never heard of it before
Its a really neat game to play from time to time, have jumpt into it especially while waiting for enshrouded

yep, but not that deep tho
soon there will also be the game Return to Moria
if that was the LOTR game is it made by a AA companie or indie?
Im not that interested in moria tbh
By 2028 we'll just have an entire genre called 'dwarfgames'
cause if its made by AAA i would not get excited or anything to be fair
tbf there should be one already 😄
but yeah in my opinion AAA companies are not doing great in survival genre

Isn't minecraft already for grownups? Just listen to the cave noises, those are too scary for children
well minecraft with its graphics meaning super simple creature designs and also super simple mechanics as well what in my opinion makes it more appealing for children
Buying that
looks interesting
bandit's trail is free when it comes out, like a demo sorta i guess
that is fine
Yea i just checked again... was not aware of that is free :S haaha
oke i like the game but as i can see building has pre sets
but worth of trying for sure
not to really lose, so might as well try it
Have to kill time somewhere
i know 6 yr olds that regularly play minecraft, dont know a single person under 20 that appreciates the complexity and difficulty of vintage story. It's definitely more hardcore. even modded minecraft (which i still really enjoy) is just an alchemy game. X + Y + Z = Product. NEI gives you every solution. Vanilla minecraft, or even non java is just so mind-numbingly simple it would be hard to argue against it marketed towards children.
unmodded minecraft is getting better, but modded is so much better. Just the blockiness gets old after a while
Well it got me* and im 29
im over 30 and still play MC< but its for sure marketed towards younger crowds
vintage story is the opposite
Realistic textures that are low-bit be kinda weird huh
def a bit yeah. high hopes for enshrouded
the gameplay got me for vintage story, its different enough to not feel like MC at all, but still scratch the itch.
Play both games xD
How y'all feel about Sons of the Forest?
Sons was good. A little empty. You have to really be into just building stuff because there's not much else to do after a while
Definitely better with a group of friends
There are also 6 year olds who play call of duty
I blame the parents.
Their favorite word starts with N and I hear it everyday in DMZ
they must have enjoyed morrowind if they keep saying N'wah
Best ive seen all day mate
I have to many replayable games.... Minecraft, RimWorld, Stellaris, TW: Warhammer III, 7 Days to Die, and more I think.
I run a minecraft server (Modified SMP - but we don't run mods, only plugins and stuff I script) for my wife (26), our 6yo son, several friends I've met over the years playing MC and I'm 39. Minecraft will probably always be on my list of actively played games primarily because despite the fact that some games have it beat in terms of potential (Vintage Story, for example) of block mechanics their story, expansion, and overall playability just isn't there yet.
thanks yall for tlaking about Vintage Story, looked into it, defintely getting it tomorrow lol
i lied, i got it today
ahead of schedule
make sure to join their offcial discord as that comunity is quite friendly and helpful 🙂
i did, though at this current time, the game isnt doing anything. I BLAME ENSHROUDED ITS ALL I WANT TO PLAY
VS is not working or something or yust not in a mood to play anything but enshrouded? 😄 (when i first found out about enshrouded and twhen they posted the NDA testing I could not get myself to play anything for 2 weeks i think XD
not in a mood to play anything else
It s good to have off screen time after all
Says someone who almost live in front of his computer
The gaming content drought is real
It's the calm before the storm though. In about a week, the floodgates are gonna open
i have so many games to play already tbh
dying light 2, outer worlds, divinity 1 to finish, divinity 2, remnant 1 to finish (i'm at final boss, what a pain), hardspace shipbreaker, a factorio run, and so many others
I've been playing Project Zomboid a lot because I like to rage and break everything on my computer desk and yell, and throw things and feel like poop because I can't last more than 3 minutes in a silly game that I keep playing over and over.
original sin or the OG divinity 1 and divinity 2 dragon knight saga?
PZ is a great game really but i suggest looking into must have mods and also to be patient as its a survival game if compared to 7 days to die and how much more its an arcade of anything really
7d2d for me is more about coming up with fun build ideas and seeing if i can make them work.
If I play 7d2d I cannot enjoy it without UL mod anymore really... vanilla just makes me think of how many good features they have removed and how arcady the game is instead of survival
Not quite sure what you mean by arcady in this context?
I like 7d2d but haven't played it ina long while. Are they still developing it?
Yeah, they just did a major update that changed progression a lot
arcade part is that you can go guns blazing on hardest diff without waking up half of a city
in my mind it makes no sense
thats just one example
but no worries on one of next updates we will also have less of character customization as well (regarting armor/clothing slots)
but again i would guess im not target audience for majority of anything that came past a16
I like survival aspects, need to be stealthy from time to time, having to manage what i take with me when i go looting and so on
I am sad to what direction they have gone but that is their game and their decissions they make, I had my fair share of fun and I still do each time Undead Legacy mod gets an update
My buddy and I decided to start up a new duo server while we wait 🙂
@lost jasper these casinos were as close to real as they come. had roulette, blackjack, craps and slots
OS, divine divinity did not click for me
You confused me even more, so divinity 2 original sin or divinity 2 dks?
both OS (Original Sin)
I forgot about dragon knight saga, I did play it a bit but I prefered divine divinity to it tho
Ah for me dks and its expansion is best of divinity period but again thats just for me at least
I've been wasting a lot of time lately on EDF 4.1
Not me just killing the electro worm, OVER AND OVER AND OVER again. Stupid acid rain II
well there goes that game lol -

Hey Survivors,
Since going Stable in June, Alpha 21 has anchored itself in the top 15 Most Played Games on Steam, is currently number 10, and has hit a concurrent record peak of 96,827 players. It keeps getting better folks and is coming to console soon!
Hey that's good for them.
I've been playing A21 and it feels pretty good. The progression style of magazines is an interesting change that makes progression feel a little better
i prefer the old progression myself, but i do enjoy the premise of the magazines
I like the new one better, even though it has completely screwed me over
Stun batons my love...
Why do you take years to upgrade...
I've been using stun batons for the first time, and I regretted it for the first half of the game. They SUCK until you get the repulsor mod + the quick charge book
Yeah, it's super good
I'm just going Int/Fort so I can double dip to masheen gun
I feel like the game pushes you into the Strength tree, and the sledge is so much stronger than the other melee weapons
i miss the old days where you could make a zombie proof base with just a few wooden poles
well it wasnt crawler proof
or cop proof
I get them making the zombies stronger with pathing and stuff. It makes defense more interesting
ive turned off horde nights for noiw
Irradiated cops do too much damage to traps though. They kill a whole area of blade traps with one spit
Well, it still makes them easily cheesable
until i can find a good way to zombie proof my base
Horde nights are pretty meh, they're good for getting levels
i need to play again
But I don't find them very fun once we started cheesing them
But if we don't cheese, they're a nightmare
i like cheesing
if i want to fight a bunch of zombies ill go to a trader
or setup a heat source and let ole Aboleth scream a bunch
When I get all turrets it'd all ogre for them
in case youre wondering why i call screamers Aboleth, that's Aboleth
Turrets And electric traps
the more you talk it up, the more i think maybe it can scratch my desire to game itch, time to try
AWWW YEAH MY CHARACTER IN MY SINGLE PLAYER WORLD HAS A LEVEL 4 MAGNUM, i forgot about that lol
noic
I don't really cheese them, I just use some mild tower defense features, then kill them as they get up to my safety box
Do you have ramps?
Does it look like a warcraft 3 TD map from above?
😂
Somehow I just trust that people gere know what I'm talking about...
I guess Mazing to me is the difference between cheesing it and not
This looks really good! I can't find it on steam tho 😮
gotta go to its website
Yea I just figured. Imma buy it and check it out!
Ty for the tip
yee yee, its interesting so far, unfortunately doesnt scratch the itch, im scared nothing will except Enshrouded
i hope that site doesnt break the rules, i dont think it does
You mean Vintage story? How would it?
Ikr. I don't know much about Enshrouded yet. I found out about the game last night, through a random article. Watched the video that was attatched and nearly started to cry and scream once figuring I couldn't play right away. It looks so freaking good
IKR
im just overly paranoid at times lol
I feel you. I am overly paranoid at times as well xD
Vintage Story is an absolutely beautiful world, i dont like the limited storage you get to start though
Oeh it's installed. Imma check it out. I wonder what mods to install lmao
hahahaha the voices. I love this
palia gameplay stream tomorrow
gonna have to play palia if enshrouded doesn't launch soon enough /cough /cough
Wait is Palia already available!?
I've been waiting forever!!
It's not, it comes out Aug 2 for people who get into the closed beta. Aug 10 for people who didn't
heavy breathing AAAAAAAH i can't wait. I think I got into the closed beta if im correct
If you've been in any of the alphas or server slams or whatever, you should get closed beta access I htink
Aww no that I have not. Never got a message/email unfortunately
Have any of yall played Rising World?
oh that game looks interesting
i ahve it, just havent played it, so am hoping i can hear how it is lol
man 2014, looks like it was ahead of its time
It definitely looks like a game you could get lost in, but also looks like it would get boring pretty quick.
Those reviews are definitely solid O.O
well it doesnt scratch the same itch enshouded probably would
once weve enjoyed Enshrouded, i pray to all the gods we can finally start enjoying other games
God I need enshrouded. It's been Rocket League holding our community together for too long now lol. Awaiting something big to steal our attention. The big wait is gta 6. 😳 Hoping this can get us through until then.

artistic style in this looks awesome
oh wow!!
I’m playing fallout 4 and had a quest take me to a school, the one with the pink paste… fallout lore keeps getting weirder
i did a quest in that game, was so disappointed by it that I quit and never played it again.

How’s everyone liking Dave The Diver so far?
"under a rock" has optional pvp for those seeking pvp
I did refund it, the fishing gameplay was annoying to me, some things are fun in the game, but the gaming part offers nothing fresh, the mix is original but that's it. It's a rat race, an occasionally funny one, but still.
It was fun in the first few hours, but got boring quickly after that
Huh 🤔. I can see your point. The grind gets old here and there, but I’ve been enjoying it for the most part. I think I’ve gotten as far as beating the squid and discovering the sea people.
It’s a definite change of pace for me as an rpg nerd
If you people missed it, definitely not a fantasy-vibed game, but Genesis Alpha One is an interesting game for space fans
wait what's Dave the Diver? I've heard the name a few times but I haven't looked into it

to me and IMO only, looks like a couple of guys got together to do their thesis on minecraft mods and just kept going with it lol
it looks so wildly varied that it feels like a game from the 90s
back before genres were so defined
In the times of jank
(my best example of this is stuff like Cryo's Dune, which has adventure game elements, real time strategy, management, all the while loosely following the plot of the book)
jank = best!!
yeah thats what it reminds me of...remember that "RPGmaker" program lol
Jank is great!!
I'll definitely take a janky game that's neat and innovative than a polished game that does nothing new
then climb aboard the "Ubisoft" train 😛
yeah show me something that falls just short of greatness, rather than a polished copy I've already forgotten the contents of before the game is done uninstalling
Ubisoft games are neither polished nor innovative in my mind 😂
should I make it a sticky here too
cough breakpoint cough
Breakpoint is an enjoyable game, but definitely shows it's console roots.
Ah, my bad
Okay but I'm now trying to think about some really good but jank game
Like Gravity Rush and Gravity Rush 2 are absolutely my favorite games ever but they're just so janky and goofy
But it adds to the charm, almost
Because the games just tried to do something almost impossible and managed to do it for the most part, and the most part that works is amazing
Really good but jank? 7 Days to Die comes to mind for me.
The last parts that don't are just a sad casualty
7 Days to Die is the king of jank, yeh
But not in a bad way, they're obviously trying to break a lot of ground with all that
Like, some games are jank because the devs were either underequipped to handle the challenge or some other issue happened, and some games are jank because they push the envelope
not if you have enjoyed wildlands and expected something as good tbh, except for a small set of features they downgraded from there
I mean wildlands kinda had a realistic vibe, and some features they added with breakpoint seemed like they wanted to go further on some of the realistic aspects, but only to crush em entirely with the rest of the game sigh
I thought Wildlands was quite weak by comparison.
The AI is dumber than toffee on both games. 😛
where did it lack compared to breakpoint in your opinion ?
also, which one have you played the earliest ?
(We could be biased by our first experience)
Mostly in how the enemies work.
The random spawning during combat... Like, I just killed the first squad that arrived in cars, but now there's another 10 guys who appear as if by magic.
Well I used to play wildlands without UI and the AI felt challenging enough.
I dont think they spawned in wildlands, but yeah they drove to your place.
maybe spawned further down the road though
but there could be situation with seemingly endless flux yes
I dislike payday, not realistic enough. I never attacked a vault but the whole game feels super arcade
Sneak in, obtain objectives, sneak out... 300 COPS MF!
PAYDAY 😛
red dead redemption 2 also feels like that tho
RDR2 was far too over-hyped for me.
well, it really shines alot on the story telling/ cinematic side
Played it on my nephew's PC and it so badly feels like Yet Another Console Port.
It's not a bad game... but that console legacy makes it feel wrong.
Same with Breakpoint.
Maybe I got used to that port feeling
Movement feels janky.
I remember being really pissed at that in the past
there's inertia, I like inertia
well, it's not perfect but it accounts for body movement, maybe a bit too rigid, but still realistic in a way
It still coincides with the animations, the char has a mass he's trying to move. but yeah he's no gymnast or dancer lol
feels too heavy
To me, it's more like putting a skateboard on a roundabout.
Then trying to dance on it, while it spins.
I'm trying hard to picture the metaphore
I'm approaching to keep the cover on my left, to lean against.... So my character looks the other way, for reasons.
that's one thing ubisoft did good in division
and it was good already in R6 vegas
R6 vegas 2 ❤️
until they removed "blind fire"
man if only they had implemented it in R6 siege
did they ?
didnt stick around for long on division 2, but the first one still has it no ?
yeah think it's still in Div1...haven't played that in forever
survival dlc was >
what a loss
If only it had been promoted smartly, at the time BRs were topping charts
Late to this convo chain - but since I brought it up - I figured I’d reply.
Pixel art m, super ambitious and fun mix of life sim, mini-games, good story, retro-vibes, crazy story about a diver who helps run a sushi restaurant, meanwhile the go to village hero for everyone in the Blue Hole. A must play fosho
Eny One plays portal knights?
only the og
i want to play it, but not going to until "After" i've seen "Enshrouded". Want to see how far they've come development wise before seeing the previous game.
Same. Anytime a dev hits a home run with a game (EldenRing for example), I’ll start checking out their previous titles to get my fix 🥸
yeah i did that for 'spacebourne 2', was amazing to see how much he improved over spacebourne1....so now do all games like that...play the curent first then see how much improvement the team had made by playing the previous releases.
Playing Portal Knights right now
You mean when gamers had attention spans and patience to give a game more than an hour of play - before they raced off to the refund line or posted some whiny uneducated YouTube “review”? 😜
This and Merge & Blade have been my go to’s lately. For that creative spin on old nostalgia mix vibes.
Watch IGN’s review on Dave The Diver if you want a clearer picture of what it’s about.
Not to be beating a dead horse into a voxel sandbox, but it’s soooo worth the time investing in the story and watching it slowly peel itself open to the crazy game it truly is.
hey now...lol....just did that for "Way of the hunter" myself.....bad plagarism of "Call of the wild" lol
Did what?
refunded and whined 😛
with the money i got back i bought Survival: fountain of youth instead lol
Oh. I’m referring to the people that don’t even give a game a chance. And the good ol’ days when you asked your parents to drive you to the video store and prayed nobody beat you to the copy of the game you wanted to rent. And you played it wether you liked it or not - cuz you just rented it for the weekend. Or you saved up your allowance to buy a game you were excited for…and maybe you got powned for the first hour and threw your controller.
You kept playing because your inner pride was at stake! And you wanted to know how the rest of the game was 🥸
Well, I consider myself part of the low attention given to games, but it can be easily justified imho. I've been playing games for maybe 30 years now, including most of the big titles of any genre, and many lesser known too, one of the consequences of that is that because there is such a wide experience and choice of games nowadays I don t see why I should spend time on a game I am enjoying less than another ? I mean back then it was nice to have a single game okay, but even then I started getting LARGE amounts of games as early as 2001, when... well internet allowed for that.
My time on earth is getting shorter and the hours of new experience on games is growing exponentially, so I'd rather invest that time wisely, playing a game is not a charity ?!
Its late to the convo but Dave the Diver is an amazingly fun and relaxing game and actually has a lot more depth to it than people give it credit for at first glance...
It is ok to be entertained by mini games.
💯 agree!
At first I loved it. Then got worried about the loop. Then more and more crazy stuff and people came along and now it’s insane!
And I have such a hard time putting it down - “just one more dive. Maybe just one more sushi night” Long live Bancho 🍣
15 days til Baldur’s Gate 3
and then this 🥳
3 days to Remnant 2
14 days to Baldur's gate 3
48 days to Starfield
84 days to AC: Mirage
140 days to Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora
Lol I'm more excited to see if The Day Before actually releases.
Take one down …
pass it around…
You didn’t see them post the release date?
I'm really in a nice spot where I don't have any of those big games I'm excited for.
November I believe
Actually…the day before…that 🥸
114 days to "the day before"
Lol did they "push" it back again
November 10th
Yep. I thought it was the 10th or the 11th
Force Gaming has been putting some coverage/updates on occasion via YouTube.
The game looks ambitious and like a dream come true for survival zombie fans. But there is so much oddball stuff going on around the game. The licensing of their game title alone is super sketch.
Yep, my discord has been following it since the beginning. If it comes out, I'll be playing it. If they push it back... lol well they might as well cancel the game
You forgot 37 days until Armored Core 6
😝 What about 22 days until Palia?
yeah looking at that one also, haven't decided yet...
even though i'm in the test lmao
I have a couple friends who did the alpha, they said it was pretty fun
Seems like a pretty chill stardew-esque game
Yeah
waiting for starfield, balders gate 3, some other games like luminary and showa american story
im glad balders gate 3 moved its pc release ahead so i dont have to choose between it and starfield
oh and dragons dogma 2
half these are soon™️ tho
thats a whole year still...
or more
I enjoyed playing the beta for Palia.
beta? the beta hasn't started yet...
The testing
Palia is Heading into Beta

I've been in the Alpha testing.
ahh ok
It's come along ways. It's nice and relaxing.
yeah looks fun....albeit kind of boring....stress relief i guess lol
balders gate is doing some weird stuff
like?
It's one of those games I would enjoy as a background game. When your waiting for something new to play.
Which I've been doing until Diablo released
what the
idk who
if thats even true...no telling with Asmongold, could be click bait
I can't stand asmongold
I almost purchased the game today, then I saw that
Lions, Asmon and bears, oh my!
i already bought and played the EA a few months ago so 💀
annnnnd thats why I hate that guy.....he just runs his mouth and shits all over stuff which tends to move people away from potentially good games.
Baldur's gate III - Last played Oct. 27th 2020 .....been awhile
may 2nd 2023 for me
You want a good DnD game that isn't Baulders Gate - Play Solasta - REALLY good translation of the 5e rules set to CRPG
I play WoW, so I was looking for a game like WoW
AAAANNNNND it has a dungeon creator too....
and there are different classes, like Bards and interesting subclasses
MMO or just RPG?
Solasta - last played Aug 17th, 2021 lol
MMO
Guild Wars 2 is fun and has a great living world.
isn't that all pvp?
No, not at all...The first one was but the second one plays very much like wow. It doesn't subsribe to the holy trinity though for its party makeup
New World isn't bad either....its got a really bad rap but if you have people to play with it can be a hoot. The class progress is based on the weapons you use so you can be tank or healer or dps based on the weapons you level up
I did not like New World at all.
Do you prefer the traditional role based class stuff?
I like Wow... that kind of game. I did like Valheim also
I tired final fantasy and quit after 20 min
Elder Scrolls Online, GW 2, WOW, City of Heroes all mmo's I have played on and off
yeah, hard to go from years of wow to FF....I couldn't get into FF
me either....none of them lol
There are some other non fantasy MMO's I enjoyed Like the Division and Division 2 just for change of pace but fantasy is usually the MMO genre I prefer
I think WoW is King of all games.
I actually want to try the WoW HC server. Lol
HC server?
Yep, I like punishment lol
Im on SOE horde....
I can't remember the server I was on. Too long ago
whats SOE?
Sony online entertainment, SWG killers 😛
Sisters Of Elune
LOL
Did you ever play Everquest or EQ2 Cherry?
I think EQ2 is as close to wow that you can get really
I played a shaman up to ~35 on the unofficial HC server. It definitely makes the game feel new and dangerous. which is pretty cool
Ptsd man, c'on

THIS is PTSD 😅
That’s because it’s legit D&D. Have you ever played?
Oof 😥. Real D&D is better than any video game you’ll ever play.
Kudos on Valheim though 😃
I dont see how playing with paper is more fun that a digital character running around exploring
Anyone that’s ever played more than one session would agree that you’d find out fast if you tried it.
But I’m not here to push my dice bible into your home lol
Watch some Critical Role highlights or something similar.
Creating your own character to live vicariously through in a world of story, improv, and chance quickly feels like reality with the right DM and players by your side.
Especially if you can get a group of friends together IRL and play together at a table. The fun, lols, food, drinks, and memories made there can never be replaced by a digital character running around exploring .
End of rant.
Thanks for coming to my NERD talk 🤓
lmfao
I'll agree that TTRPGs can be better than video games, if you have a good group. One of the big things is that you can go totally off the rails. As a DM I've invented entire sidequests because players get fixated on something weird and want to investigate it. Tackling that freedom in a video game is much harder.
Until someone rolls a 1 😛
I'll never know because I probably never will have the opertunity to play one
There’s magic in failure though. Lol
😜
I used to run and play in a dnd show on Twitch and some of our best moments were the most unexpected ones lol
It’s like The Field of Dreams. “If you build it, they will come” 😜
If you look in the right places you’ll find it.
There’s countless dnd communities online everywhere with tons of fun nerds looking to befriend new fellow dice nerds

(I'm slightly peeved about TTRPGs being equated to D&D as always but I digress)
TTRPGs are a different paradigm of fun to video games to me
They just allow for self-expression in a way that digital games simply cannot because you cannot code and play the game at the same time
It's not a thing for everyone but if you have any interest in trying stuff like improv acting I cannot recommend it enough
"D&D" is the "Kleenex" or "Band-aid" of TTRPGs
I haven't actually played D&D for a long time, but I still often refer to our Pathfinder game as D&D night
Yeah I know, it's just annoying, kinda like your parents calling your PS5 a Nintendo or whatever
Because the difference is relatively much larger than in other colloquialisms
I can only speak on my own behalf.
Neverwinter nudged me into finding Force Grey on YouTube, which led me to Matt Mercer, which led me to Critical Role in 2016. I saw the level of fun they were having and learned they were all voice actors. So some friends and I started playing. I was hooked ever since. Met Mercer in 2017. Went to their first live show in GenCon, and their first NYCC.
Sorry, my adhd is trailing off to my own backstory lol.
But it was what nudged me to get into voice acting in 2020.
My point is I agree it’s not to be categorized in Video Games (obviously), but should be experienced by anyone that enjoys RPG’s. The amount of amazing theatre kids, improv masters, famous voice actors, and fellow dice nerds I met and befriended in my brief journey as a voice actor was incredible.
Improv was my favorite part of VA. And I always would preach that D&D was such a great form of practicing improv.
When I started L.O.R.E. I never imagined it would from from a handful of fellow voice actors and dice nerds to a community of 125+ peeps - coming and going within one shots, other TTRPGs, long dnd campaigns, charities, fundraisers, celebrity guests, interviews etc…
I’m glad to see fellow dice nerds in here 😃
TBH, if I hadn’t dipped my toes in the dice pool, I would have never had the stories I can tell today 😄
Yeah, we met Marisha and Talesin at Disneyland by happenstance, and have seen the crew a couple other times. They seem to be pretty cool people.
I'm a huge ttrpg fan. Call of Cthulu is my current fav system, but I've played dnd through 3.5 and 5e. For our honeymoon this year in November my husband and I are actually attending the DND in a Castle event. 4 solid days of playing dnd with a professional dm at Lumley Castle in New Castle UK. I'm super excited.
Whaaa?!?
You lucky ducks!!
I know some people that went to that and said it was absolutely one of the most amazing experiences ever!
Plus all the guest celebs that go…
Dream come true!
Man! All this D&D gab is making me get the itch to start my stream team back up - but alas, I’ve lost contact of the majority 😞.
Tbh, I just wanna play dnd again!!
I miss IRL games more than anything, but even online can be just as fun with the right gang.
count me in
I'm in a twitched streamed Scarredlands Campaign that's been going on for about 3 years, and My husbands a gm and two of our other friends are gms. I'm currently in a pathfinder 2 e campaign , a Curse of Stradh 5e campaign a homebrew 5e campaign and a City of Myst campaign. Earlier this year I got a sampling of the DND vacation life by going to Mike Tinney's Gaming at the Lake weekend. Me my hubby and our friend along with a few other guests stayed at a lakehouse and got DM by Mark Meer, voice of commander shepard from mass effect.
Here's us all together. I 10000x recommend for those who are able and into ttrpgs to give a dnd vacation a tryout.
Are you in this pic too?
That’s really cool!!!
Are you familiar with Grant Howitt? And Orion Acaba?
Familiar in the sense of I know of them but have never interacted or anything.
I am I resemble my pfp lol
Just going to but in... Oh, oh the updated for The Witcher 3 came out on switch. It's taking forever to download. I can't wait to play it again though 😁
Witcher 3 is my fav of the series.
I got to interview Orion Acaba (got lucky with befriending him when I was getting into voice acting.
And was fortunate enough to get Grant Howitt to join us in a charity one shot to play his skeleton game.
Thats So COOOL!
that sounds incredible
I won’t spam this channel with a bunch of long ass youtube videos 😂 but I’ll post the highlights cuz Grant was on fire the whole game 🤣 https://youtu.be/4CguBE0xOGU
#adventureskeletons #ttrpg #oneshot
We were lucky enough to have Grant Howitt join us in a game he wrote w/ Chris Taylor (aka RowanRookAndDecard) called ADVENTURE SKELETONS.
This adventure was part 1 of our ExtraLife fundraiser marathon, which helped raise $$ for PennState Children's Hospital.
GM'd by Andy from NeverSayDice and appropriately ti...
That castle event sounds pretty neat I must admit
That’s the one!!
It’s on my Bucketlist
We booked james introcaso as our DM for our round.
Its just beautiful and wild to me how gaming/nerdy culture has these cool leisure elements. I'm in my 30's and never thought that I'd see things like gaming hotels and ttrpg vacation packages you know.
That's some Hasbro money right there. At least it's going to something worth
Like sheesh that is cool, even though I'm not big for public events
to be honest, it's been a while since the geeks inherited the earth. It feels that with the LotR movies and since the success of the first Spider-Man movies, corporations went "oh wait the nerds have money??" and offerings have never been more plentiful
True
When we bought our first house our Realtor thought it was the funniest thing in the world that we would tape measure the rooms because we had to make sure they could fit our dnd/boardgame table in them.
Our first question was always where is the dnd table going to go.
I'd love to buy one of these nice wooden ones but 1: they're mostly US companies so shipping hahahahaha 🥲 2: I've never wanted to be the DM and it feels like with this kind of setup you're committing to being the nerd-in-charge
We just have a decent-sized kitchen table for it, though I do worry a little about how well it will fit in our new house...
(We mostly play online)
God I wish I had regular table games
Playing on a table is so much better
knock your monitor over, problem solved
Harhar
one benefit of having it as that everyone comes to our house usually to dm their games so we don't have to travel
That is definitely a bonus
Our player group is just a tiny bit scattered
Like we're trapped in a situation where we can't get a full group to play unless someone drives 4 hours at least
Dang I'm so sorry.
I mean we have dang good online games though
thats a WIN at least you're still getting to game !
We have two pathfinder campaigns and one genesys campaign going on right now, mostly the same players
Yeah!
Ohhhh whats Genesys ???
It's one of my favorite games! You've probably heard of the new Star Wars games? With the weird dice?
It's the same system, except, GENEric SYStem
Ahhhh okay got it
It's really good
Like I'm planning on running an The Elder Scrolls game with it in the future, because I can translate some of the mechanics from the games very directly and that makes me happy
Genesys is a kind of weird game in that the GM usually needs to jump through some hoops to get stuff working but when it's at its best, amazing gameplay
I've played the fallout co-op boardgame but I'm super interested in playing the Fallout RPG.
and its nice to experience different systems
Yea the Modiphius one .
I'm mostly just daydreaming about playing Fabula Ultima (a Final Fantasy-esque game) or getting to finally play(test) my own games again 😂
If you're ever running an online one shot play test after Nov I'd check out one of your games.
I'll try to keep that in mind
I'm a very forgetful person so don't take any offence if I do forget
I won't no worries. I have the brain of a walnut.
I'm currently trying to develop a diceless game and trying to refine my weird narrative game
Alice is Missing is diceless and probably the weirdest roleplaying game I've ever tried. Might be a good inspiration source.
It's funny, I make games that are like half the length of the equipment chapter on your usual game but they're still difficult for people to wrap their head around
I know about AiM
Haven't played it myself, but it's very interesting design-wise
I have the blocks laid down pretty well for my games, but I could definitely take a peek at Alice is Missing because the diceless game is actually modular with very different modes of gameplay, so that might be interesting to adapt or take inspiration from
in the 3 years of owning htis place you'd think I'd have a decent photo of the gaming room
Nice lighting and decor
Heads up do not use 3d brick texture wall stickers. It has been almost impossible to remove and we need our old house market ready by end of this month
My SO plays TTRPGs but they would never let me make a game room like this even if we had the space and money 😂
Sadge
The white table panels can be removed from the top and inserted into the sides to create player desk space.
I made (but never finished) a mini TTRPG ages ago. Was too busy to ever finish it, but it was similar Grant Howitt’s Honey Heist, rolls create your character, not as many dice needed, and the rest leaned heavy on improv.
The concept was you’re cats in NYC during the Great Depression. The twist - you’re catnip smugglers in a city full of rival gangs of different breeds/races etc 🙀
HONEY HEIST IS SO GOOD
Solid setup
Right?!?
Playing with the legend himself was pretty amazeballs too
Its gonna be even better at our new place. Bigger room and Danny gave me permission to carve foam to stone texture the walls.
Its amazing so many of you are game designers
#dnd #ttrpg #extralife
Chris Ferguson runs new and familiar faces through a homebrewed game called Cats & Catastrophes. Our players are housecats by day & bootleg catnip smugglers by night. Set in NYC during the great depression. With a work-in-progress character creation and dice mechanic - this was a blast to run for charity.
To DONATE to O...
I mean there's quite a bit of people here and I think TTRPGs probably have the highest ratio of enjoyer-creator in almost any style of media, I think?
Have you ever created a character in a video game and then recreated them in a ttrpg ?
All the time
I make my nerdy necromancer Selena to every game almost
It's my 'character builder test' at this point
Gonna start doing that it never crossed my mind to look at it that way
Made my first campaign character based off my Neverwinter cleric. Mr. Butters.
A small angry little halfling
love that room
I've been play 7 days to die.
And my first DM made a lot of his NPC’s based off of some MMORPG game he played for years.
you recommend ?
Selena is an excellent test because making her usually requires 4 things:
- Healing
- Magic / Necromancy
- Heavy Armor + 2hander
- Big hat (This is so rare!)
- if possible, horrible dexterity
7DTD is pretty good
It got a big update recently
Actually I'm going to play 7DTD tonight after I grab some Taco Bell (Don't worry I live in Europe we have safety standards 😂)
I completely forgot about that
free on the epic launcher https://store.epicgames.com/en-US/p/the-elder-scrolls-online
I played ESO when it came out and tried again recently
It's just too convoluted and doesn't really feel good to play for some reason to me
yup, downloading now....lol
Good luck dude.
I have ESO. Love it but never have peeps to play it with cuz adulting.
Thanks for the reminder to post this in my discord for my fellow gamer fam
Hasent ESO been free for awhile now?
dunno, was still buy and then sub at this time ^
ESO had the best community on an MMO as of 2016
Not that I’m aware of 🤔.
I always see it for sale - but never free.
It is free on Epic Games atm
Right. That’s what @simple topaz shared with the link, earlier 🙂
still $20 on steam
Jepp... saw only the picture, didn't read the text of the link^^
What’s wrong with Epic?
I think it’s the best thing out there.
Free games all year round, great sales, great library of games, and when you buy, the game is yours, worry free. Unlike Steam, where if they wanted to, could shut everyone down from playing their games at any time, or if Steam is down, or decided to close its doors, there goes access to your entire library.
I've got a few epic games, have even played them, doesn't seem bad, not sure why it gets so much hate.
just wish they'd get a better Front-end lol
they had Fallout New vegas on there couple weeks ago for free.
Indeed they did. I nabbed it.
I try to remember to login every week to see what’s new in the free giveaway spots.
75% of my library is from the giveaways, and 75% of those I haven’t played yet 😂
This is why they get the hate. Their interface sucks and it feels like theyre more of a storefront than a library.
yep...
got so many free assets for UE it's "Unreal" lol and have never opened them 😛
and it apparently snooping on your entire system and the epic exclusivity deals
Yeah, epic exclusive deals are understandable from a capitalism standpoint, but shitty for the consumers. Maybe make your system a place where your customers want to be, not force the products to only be sold there.
yeah i don't know about snooping they'd of been ratted out by now by those that snoop lol
https://old.reddit.com/r/fuckepic/comments/wakewr/epic_games_spyware_vs_steam_vs_as_comparision_ea/ someone compared the storefronts and what files on a pc they check
718 votes and 68 comments so far on Reddit
heh good read...thanks...good reason to turn off all front-ends when not perusing them. lol
anyone doing Remnant 2 until beta invites happen?
yeah i'm just down the road from Epic also, so only a 2 hour drive if they mess up my system lol but that article indicates they only snooping not actually harming anything.
preloading the ultimate edition right now
same
I hear it goes live 4pm PDT tomorrow?
that is what I am seeing though I am EST so 1900
i guess it depends on how much people care about their privacy ¯_(ツ)_/¯
I can't wait to test out the building system. I just built a Korean Traditional house in 7 Days to Die.
Ayy nice. My 7d2d bases always just look like concrete/steel monstrocities.
Exactly…
Lol. My bases are basic and ugly. Bases are simple to build once you understand the pathing AI. They don't need to be big or complicated. I combine my crafting and horde base so that it is a Screamer farm as well.
I build other buildings for fun. How do feel about Alpha 21?
Its fine. I kinda like the magazine progression. No real complaints really.
The magazines just slowed down the progress a bit. I like the better graphics and the better POI Story telling.
Some of the new POIs kind of annoy me because I like to sneak through them and stealth archer the zeds. Seems like there are a lot more rooms where things just insta aggro you.
Yup they have triggerpoints that don't even spawn the Zs until you cross the threshhold.
Yeah, I dont like that very much, but I can deal.
it can be funny if you don't follow the predefined POI Path.
Like before, I found that I got high tier gear waaay before I had the magazines to craft it.
So not much change there.
They always had issues with loot progression.
The magazines are good though, because they give them a clear progression speed that they can tweak
If your a skilled player hit the teir 5 new appartment building and you will get soooooo many magazines.
The Spear is now OP
I'm wondering if the building system will be like Valhiem.
I didnt try it, I tried to start out using batons, which was a mistake.
As spear is a lower level item the Mags come quick.
Batons suck until you get the repulsor and insta-charge book
Its more like Minecraft. Imaging ark/conan building, but each "foundation" piece is a collection of tiny minecraft blocks in that shape.
lol. and batons send your friends flying lol
Yeah, we turned PvP off because I yeeted one if my friends into a horde night.
It looked like a upgrade of ARK and The Forest.
I like the sniper build with improved Sneak attack ability. but now with the Spear so op.
LOL. I got bounced of the top the the Crackabook Tower by my friend.
Oof.
I like 7d2d but it never holds me super long. Once I have a solid base design that works and I get to full t6 gear, I kinda peter out.
I'd love a game that combines the raid mechanics of 7d2d with a mission system kind of like Icarus.
who said "The expanse" earlier...don't know how true this is...release date :The Expanse: A Telltale Series - Episode 1 (PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC) - July 27
I've never been much for telltale games.
It is an issue that most Survival games have. There is a tipping point where the Survival changes to thriving. The NPC village building is what interests me for this game.
I hope that by 50 hours of play there are still Challenges.
looks really good
By the end 10 to 15 hours (60 min days) in 7 days you can be in the end game.
Thank you.
yee yee
I hope they get this game out soon. As Nightingale is looking really good as well.
Yeah, I'm excited for nightingale too
yeah i expect mid fall for Nightingale though...they still going through last playtest feedback, and added third person view.
3rd person is great. If there was some good settings for wide screens i'm okay with that as well. Not the warped view like 7days.
Hopefully 1st person at least for building in enshrouded then
After watching all of this last night, I am so excited and worried at the same time for this game, but knowing Bethesda’s reputation with games within their baby days of release lol
Join Game Director Todd Howard and the Starfield development team as they dive deep into the first new universe from Bethesda Game Studios in over 25 years.
Starfield launches exclusively on Xbox Series X|S and PC on September 6, 2023. Play it day one with Xbox Game Pass.
Chapters:
0:00 Welcome
1:28 Your Quest
12:22 Character Creation
16:14 ...
I think I might knock the dust off Star Citizen and see if my 3060 can handle it.
Knowing Bethesda’s commitment to making their games better and better to have a long life with the gaming community, I can definitely see a multiplayer option down the road.
The fact that this is their newest “world” in a LONG time, I could see Starfield getting something like ESO in a few years as well.
You can still shock your friends with friendly fire turned off 😉 One of my favorite things to do. Batons are not horrible at day 1 anymore either. They are defo better with the insta kill perk and repulsor, yes.
Me. Yeah. There’s a TellTale game you can pre-purchase now, coming soon. But I’ve never played a telltale game before.
My assumption is it’s just an interactive story? Like you just watch it like a tv show and maybe make decisions here and there 🤷🏻♂️
yeah thats what it looked like in the preview they showed at xbox showcase..
Insta kill perk?
But yeah all my friends hate me because I use turrets and batons which are the only weapons with FF
I’ve never understood the desire for games that aren’t really games lol
But that’s just my uneducated opinion.
This one might be one I have to try
So, who thinks the beta invites might go out on Monday? Or hopes?
Well, the invites are a week before the actual beta, it could maybe sorta hopefully happen O.O
I was in Alpha, so I don't know how many of us will be picked for Beta, but that's the second hope lol
Well, I mean how many of us Alpha people will be picked, not how many people total lol
btw that's totally a #the-tavern discussion
Crap, I clicked the wrong channel. I thought I was in General. On mobile lol
oh ok, dunno
Wait, what are you downloading? O.O
A 3GB update for the witcher 3?
Did it on my xbox in about half an hour, idk why my switch sucks
There's an update for it? Anything good?
Cause Switch is super limited in some of its hardware capabilities lol
Yes I've been waiting for it since it came out on consoles! It's adding the Netflix witcher items, some quests. I'll get a link.
Sweet. I'll let my husband know. I mostly watch him play Witcher cause my hands don't like controller. I should give it a shot again on my PC.
I've been trying Elden Ring lately. It's going slow but since it mostly uses mouse for stuff, I'm a little better off with it. It's my first Souls game though and holy crap the learning curve lol
I never really got into the Witcher for some reason, I played the 3rd one for a bit but got bored quickly
Elden ring was amazing. I played Dark Souls 3, that was my first souls, took me an hour or two to do the tutorial boss. After finishing the game and a few months later I tried a new character and obliterated him first try.
Elden ring was intense and seems a lot faster than DS3 but wow when I got into elden I could not stop!
It's questy, like skyrim, which does sometimes bore me so I have to take a break from them every once in a while
I liked the first one alot back in the days; I liked the third much less. Nice graphics, nice cinematics, nice worldbuilding, but dull gameplay/boring loot simulator/way too long travel distances.
I have been playing on the weekends. It's been fun
Discovering Elden Ring's world is S tier...
It was the first time, the second time not so much.
yeah I have trouble replaying it too
I think the problem for me is it is just too open, don’t get me wrong that’s good but I like a big of guidance
Dark souls 3 gets me every time though, it's dark but really, a sad world^ and the sound track. Even the main title is incredible!
I get stuck in dark souls, I enjoy the trip very much until that point where I cannot go past some boss
Try watching the show. Season one. That might get you into it a bit. But I completely get the lack of any structured story. I've played it 4 or 5 times because I get bored, forget what I was doing and start all over again
same happened with elden ring actually
🥲
LOL Elden Ring I had trouble figuring out the classes. I wish they gave a bit more info on which was what. I went Astrologer so I could be mage
Oh yea the show is amazing, not watched the most recent season yet though
Yeah, eventually it doesn't matter how good your weapon is if you can't get the right timings with everything you just get pulverised
for a sec I thought you were describing TW3, not souls
😬 not missing too much, unfortunately. I loved the first two. The one with the golden dragon, stregobor's tower in the first season and things that were actually in the book it was so good.
Apparently they are replacing Henry as well
Oh yeah no. I play the witcher on deathmarch and it doesn't even come close to DS3, you can just infinity dodge everything in W3
Yeah, that's like replacing Geralt in the books. Just doesn't work
from next season they will yes, I'm not expecting much from the next witcher, Cavill was nice
Cavill made them do more like the series, the writers have admitted they haven't read or played the source materials
yeah, also playing it max diff, and timing do matter alot sometimes but that's dance dance dance the rest of the time 😛
yes apparently the filmmakers grew tired of his exigences to respect the original character and spirit of the universe; more reasons to expect less of S4 ..
Yeah, I don't expect the show to be good next season. I expect it to go sidesways real quick
Yeah it's crazy. Who tf makes and produces a show they aren't even passionate about
netflix produces so many things ...
People who want money and hope it's their way to get on a multi season show
Netflix doesn't produce exclusively bad things but they sure make poor decisions
I don't understand why you'd give in to look more like any other show instead of building something unique
it kinda is the asset flip mentality of scenarists/filmmakers; well not really
I mean it's risk aversion more than anything
They've been making a lot of crazy decisions. I mean they are choosing writers they don't have to pay as much too, so why should they care about making a quality series
Dammit, Neebs Gaming have started another Conan Exiles series, making me want to play CE again.
Why did I start watching it?
I feel ya
I am starting remnant 2 in a few hours and I know it wont work out to try to do both
I'm wondering if I'd be able to get my wife into it, we recently played 7 Days to Die together, she liked looting and zombie slaying
Heading home for a quiet weekend of STO and beer. 😁👍
I am waiting on the next chapter since it will bring more impactful changes to weapons and raids.
Yup!
Fantastic shows. But they typically keep the bland nonsense and cancel the good stuff (Dark Crystal, Cowboy Beebop, etc)
hey, check out Noble Fates on Steam....I'm looking at that one.
ok I played balder gate 3 today for 1 hour and hated it. Got a refund back on steam/
Have you tried Elder Scrolls Online?
I think I spent 30 min in that game also
I thought the game was like WoW
It was a D&D game. The people I grouped with got mad because I didnt like the game, but I wanted to keep my gameplay under 2 hours to get a refund
I like wow play style and Valheim... I like building
yeah you spent too long inthe game though
I've got over 900 hours on SWTOR and 450 on STO.
I was considering playing ESO, but I really need a group for these games now.
I am bored today. I worked, got my car washed, went out to lunch. it's hot today and i just wanted to play a game... but nothing to play
ESO: 4506,1 h 😂
I'll play bum simulator
I prefer the IRL version, when I'm off work. 🤪
lol
ok, that Noble Fates is awesome and totally addictive, perfect game to play while waiting for this
