• Valheim (Got it yesterday after just about everyone here has been talking about it)
• Rimworld - been an addict for years
• Skyrim and Fallout 4
  And like a lot of others.. yes I swear I know what outside is.

Pax Dei, Blight: Survival, Nightingale, Mirage, Skull & Bones, Dune: Awakening, Ahoy, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, (Another from Ubisoft only known so far as "Project Helix - an open world star wars game)

The first games there, yes, looking forward to those as well as the Ubisoft Avatar game and Star Wars game
Some heavy reservations against Skull & Bones
I mean, it's been delayed like 7 or 8 times by now and it's a pirate game with co-op but you can't board the enemy ships by actually boarding them in first person which is a big mistake in my opinion

Currently I've jumped back into V Rising, a vampire survival crafting game
Also in early access and it just got this big update that added a new region, some new weapons and much more
Good game that can really drain the hours away without you even noticing

Other than that, I have so many games on my Steam wishlist and like half of them are games that are coming out some time in the future
Looking forward to Remnant 2, a sequel to a souls-like 3rd person shooter game called Remnant: From The Ashes
Good game and the sequel really seems to improve on the games mechanics from the first

PK is a enjoyable game though, not so much the combat or story, nothing wrong with those 2 parts of the game either but it's the building that made me invest 400 hours into the game

Valheim is alot of fun I have 530 hours into it.... My only beef is for awhile it was all quiet from the devs for a long time, felt bad from someone who loves the game to just be left in the dark on what is happening with the game. They are rectifying that with the ashlands now but it just feels disingenuous because it was so silent for so long. great game 10/10 love it thats just my 2 cents

Totally found him scary when I first stumbled upon him.
When I play solo, I skip the bosses - I admincheat in the items they drop - Allows me to progress without having to worry about each stage trying to wreck my builds haha only get the animal events. Yea i don't get the special abilities though.

New Vegas is definitely a favourite.

But I like a lot of the simple changes made to FO4. I know it got a lot of hate for making it easier for casual players to get into it. But I still personally loved it.
Would have preferred if you could build walls without holes in them, given your character is prewar so would have some idea about building something half decent, you would hope.

I played a good amount of 76, was definitely more fun with friends. I did a full on melee bloodlust build. Bloodlust? Can't remember the name, but legendary armour effect that increased strength the lower your HP. So run in with my axe, hit hard, get hurt, hit harder. While teammates hit from afar, great fun

I gave up on it in 2021 - the amount of nonsense with spending hours in online getting something together with your friend to have someone come bounding in (hacking of course so he spit around the map / takes 10 explosive rifle shells to the head to kill him / he gets on the cart that at the best of times isn't fast but with him is like the starship enterprise) anyway, my friend tried to get back into it end 2022 and I said nah, I'm done with it, but missed it, so finally after searching found the secret sauce for private session on your own and just with your friends (if you have 1 friend (minimum) in your "solo" session you can compete against each other in the free roam events also). Now I can relax and muck around without sillyness from people appearing from thin air and griefing. It is a shame they won't take it further (sell craftables and the wagons). But it passes the time when I feel like donning the hat and pistols again

Was midway though building a plains outpost in valheim, game crashed right after I saved, I load back in and everything I have done in the world is gone

On the world screen, click “manage saves”

Click “move to local” This will then store it to C:\Users\Username\AppData\LocalLow\IronGate\Valheim

yeah Fable was special, it was heartbreaking to see how Lionhead went down with Fable Legends. Now its in the hands of playground games to revive the franchise. 🤞 they know what they are doing. The Forza Horizon games have all been great so far, but its a new type of game for them and kind of hard to imagine the transition to a completely different genre will be easy.

@reef bobcat my only problems with Valheim are that once I build a fairly big home, the performance starts to suffer, especially when flattening land. Also, it being very linear so the replayability feels a bit repetitive. Other than that, I enjoy the experience.

Well, I can say that valheim is still their focus, or that I expect things will be picking up here with it a lot more. There was a lot of contriversy around Valheim and Mods lately after the articles written about Paid Mods.
This brought mod authors and devs together a bit as we are now working together to improve the game. Their next patch I think people will be happy with a huge performance increase.

I really like it. I'm impressed by them because they seem to be very efficient with updates and just seem to have a good ethic. I enjoy the game, my only thing is that myself and my boyfriend always seem to play separately in that game. I wish you could travel in the same ship as a passenger and share building locations.

I re-summoned the first boss with my current gear and it was dead before I even saw it’s healthbar (I was using the minion summon thing with max blood magic)

Not technically, but that's the way my buddies and I have been playing. They're working on a patch right now that's going to include difficulty settings including a hardcore mode though

Basically, if we die, we have to delete the character and the house(s) we were using before we died become condemned and we can't use them or the resources in them any more.

Me and my boyfriend absolutely love Portal Knights, I really wish the development on it could've carried on. We had such a blast building our little kingdom and finding the npcs to bring back with us. That said, Enshrouded is on the horizon and looks equally as cool, if not better!

Oh yeah, I forgot about Conan Exiles. That was quite fun, though I didn't play it for long. There's a game in development called Rising World on steam, it doesn't have the gloss and shine of other games, but the building in the game is lovely and it's great because you can upload png pictures to use as curtains, pictures to decorate with. I just wish the game had a more cohesive/polished feel to it.
I followed Dual Universe for a bit, but kind of lost interest after a while. My issue is although I love sci fi, my heart will always swell that little bit more for medieval/fantasy style building games.

Landmark spoilt me, it's as simple as that. I think Rising World, for me, was the closest so far in terms of what I could build, but not every game is going to be able to offer that. Landmark was quite unique really.

Of all the games that I can think of that really disappointed me was EverQuest Landmark! I really wanted that game to come out instead of getting canceled. I remember playing the beta and thought, this is the next step. I thought the cartoon graphics was super fun and I personally thought the game was going to be a hit.

Also thought it was going to do well..not for the cartoon graphics though, would have liked more realism. Their Voxel terrain was a bit more blocky than would have liked also, but that would just have been fidgetting with the chunk data to get better results down the line.

I really really like Raft, use to play with friends during our lunch hours from work but everyone's schedules switched up so we haven't gotten to play it much. We use to alternate between Raft, Valheim and Back4Blood every wednesday during lunch.

My only issue with Raft, like Valheim, is how linear it is. It's one of the reasons I really like sandbox games where you can just go anywhere and do anything. Doesn't make Raft or Valheim any less fun, they're both great fun and allow for a lot of creativity 👍

I'm west coast. I played ~5 hours of co-op during the weekend, and it feels a bit like co-op single player, if that makes sense. You don't really interact with your allies that much, except to rez them and utilize the debuffs they apply.

And make fun of them when they die, of course.

I played with some friends when the game released at 1AM my time but that's about all the co-op I've done
We did however discover that if you're planning on playing together from the start, discuss the exact part of were to stop so that you can create a group and start because otherwise one of you might be left behind when they go online solo later with the same character, you'll know if you're behind the host in progress becasue you wont get any rewards from the quests, no xp, no gold, nothing

Not sure how the game saves story mission progression but I went as far as the first major city and then I logged out and did the same thing again with that character because I didn't get any rewards for the quests

Yeah, I believe they addressed that in a lot of YouTube vids prior to release.
If you join a player and play through their instances/quests etc…you still have to do them all over again for your benefit if you haven’t already.
At least that’s what I understand from the vids I’ve watched

I think if you're at the exact same story point with the person you join, then you'll get quest progress too

but if you're not on the same quest stage, it'll just use the party leader's quest status

No ER DLC yet. But if you want to play through it again, I can highly recommend a Randomizer playthrough. If you randomize item drops and boss locations (but make sure bosses can't spawn in normal mob locations), it makes for a very interesting playthough.

I paired that with the 'seamless co-op' mod and played with 2 friends and it was a ton of fun. We all got unique items but our enemy seeds were the same s we could all play through together. It was pretty neat.

Interesting 🤔. The PVP thing wasn’t enough to bring me back. This sounds fun. But I don’t have friends that play 😞 and I’m just waiting for it to release to start playing again. Best gaming experience since Skyrim (for me).

It's definitely a different calibur of game. Even solo the randomizer can make things interesting. I know my second playthrough wasn't as fun because I remembered where most key stuff was on the map. Having to hunt around and go through all the dungeons definitely livened it up a bit.

Exactly right, when it feels like work then you know. But if it's enjoyable then keep going, keep improving, keep adding. As the major gaming Ceo's are responding now, productions that used to take 2-3 years now are taking 5-6. AS you build you also learn.

That 2d project above took me 1.5 months to do infinite dungeon procedural generation, 3 boss fights, 18 enemies, 50 ability cards, 66 achievement cosmetics, hidden secrets, vendors to buy/sell, dialogue system, settings, save/loading. Oh and add the music and SFX.

That video shows my guy at level 1 with NO ABILTIES.

3 ability combo you can go explosives, shotgun and richote to have your bullets spread out, explode and bounce off walls.

I'd say package it, throw it up on Steam. This definitely looks a lot better than some of the stuff on there. Generate some revenue while working on it. Who knows may get picked up by OTK and shown at a show, they give away $25k - $50k to Indie dev's at some of their shows.

I remember typing to make one for something and it just wasn’t working

I spent 1.5 years on it. After 12 months everyone wanted multiplayer added. And I've never done that before and it took me prob 4 more months to add this cuz a lot of my scripting needed to get redone

and i burned through 15k savings to work on it full time

till i became broke so i got a job

then i just didn't do anything with it for a year

now i'm trying to pick back up on it

I literally cannot stop thinking about the fact that me and my husband are finally gonna get to make the pc gamingroom/office of our dreams. I have an old desktop that I want to just host an Enshrouded server and then build a new pc for my gaming/work/hobby needs. I haven't built a new pc since 2016 mainly cuz affordablity and my work laptop from my company is a gaming laptop.

One of the reasons I play a lot of console games is because my current at home office isn't really comfortable for pc gaming so I'm going mad thinking about my future pc room.

in Valheim, a player needs to be in the area to "trigger" a raid event, however, if the player leaves the area it will continue to show the raid event. @edgy heron They did add in the ballista, that is a base defense, however that was also killing players xD

😅 Triple heart break this week as I gave RedFall one last try to see if their latest/biggest patch made any progress.
Still a total hardware disaster 🤦🏻
And I run a 3060 TI with hard lined net. Have no issues with bug bad AAA graphics monster titles, but for some reason this game just flops hard like a fish in a boat.

Yeah, only other thing I can think of that's pretty recent in the survival space is the V Rising update just happened, and it added multi-level castles and a couple big new zones.

Highly recommend if you haven't played through that yet

I really want to see a survival game build around PvE raids as a core mechanic. Tribes of Midgard kind of has that, but I want something that's first/third person with really good dynamic raids.

I'm not aware of any except 7d2d that have that, and I'm just pretty tired of zombies as an enemy type

Like Valheim and Conan Exiles have raids/the purge, but they're not the main focus of the game by any stretch

Player models with their customization appearance is working for multiplayer now. 🙂 Except the face material isn't changing to skin material color. Need fix. (World vegetation was toned down because my grass uses too many batches.)

Can you use LOD for grass? Like the grass you are showing (middle left) should be the close up grass and the green canvas thats close up should be the far away grass.

player appearance is now working 100% for multiplayer. Geez that actually took me 6 to 8 hours to debug. omg.

So there were 3 hair mats, 3 face mats and 1 body mat for each male and female.

And what I learned was mulitplayer it was changing the matName to matName + " (Instance)"

So for about 6 hours I couldn't figure out why Host wasn't getting the right skin color of the new player.

There are a lot of aspects like that nowadays. You can pick up all sorts of systems and assets and stuff and cobble them together into a game with minimal new work on your part. As long as you can make them play nice with each other, you can have a game in record time. I'm sure Grand Emprise is doing a bit of that at least, I have no idea how a solo dev would manage everything he has otherwise.

Yeah, and using assets from the asset store definitely isn't bad for an indie project. You just have to make sure that your game has a hook; some reason to play your game over 100 similar indie games using similar asset bundles.
