Portal Knights ๐
Portal Knights!
Portal Knights.
Portal Knights, of course ๐
Portal Knights โ๏ธ
Portal Knights
Portal Knights!
Portal Knights
The Giant is dead... I mean the Giant gave up.
I was like "this doesn't look like Valheim", I guess it's been a while since I played Skyrim ๐
Perhaps I should try it when it reaches xbox
hasn't been on xbox forever at this stage?
What year are we in 2024? I had to ask my Alexa... Jeez. Supposedly it is meant to be coming to xbox in spring this year. It is also already apparently on the Microsoft store on PC but I don't use that.
Skyrim has been on Steam since its release in 2012, unless I'm having a stroke?
2011, even!
Oh noo I was meaning valheim from your earlier message
oooh haha that makes more sense
I was like "how has Todd Howard not sold four copies of Skyrim to this man yet"
Pfhahah ๐คฃ
Valheim is also on Steam and on the Xbox Game Pass already
it's one of the big reasons I was excited to join Keen tbh
beforehand I only had a few experiences of games like Portal Knights... meaning I had mostly played Minecraft ๐
Minecraft a good game but when you run out of ideas to build there is nothing to do, unlike portal knights. I'll have to check gamepass too then.
you're not being very fair to it. It's very much the epitome of "make your own fun" but there's always been oodles of content, and now there's so much more that I barely know where to go when the urge takes me to punch some trees
my big thing in Minecraft was finding cool spots and imagine what my friends and I could build there, and then create and manage the project and recruit people for it. Hype man forever ๐
Hehe ๐
Hmmmโฆ.
anyone tried anything during the Steam Next Fest?
No idea what that is
it's a week-long event on Steam where you can try demos of upcoming games
it was last week ๐
I probably wouldn't have found any demos to interest me. I find, for whatever reason, when I play new games I quickly loose interest in a lot of them unfortunately. For example I want to play the metro series, I have them but a few hour in I get bored. By the time I go to play them again I have no idea what I was doing or even where I am.
I have also found that a lot of new games from the bigger companies have lots of bugs on release. So I usually wait a year or two for them to go on sale. At that point most bugs are fixed and more content has been added too.
but then people have moved on and nobody wants to talk about it anymore and so it's a constant push and pull between hype and polish ๐ฌ
It's a shame because I imagine the devs have lots of ideas and would prefer a better quality game but are forced to meet deadlines. Red dead for example, it has been abandoned now sure storymode was so incredible but because they weren't making money from the gold bard like they were from sharkcards in gta v they stopped updating it.
There should definitely be a balance of hype and polish and unfortunately it seems hard to get right in a lot of cases.
We should been in good hands with you and keen right? Right...??
well, we're going the early access route, so there will most definitely be bugs when the game comes out, that's just the way games work
but we'll be counting on you lot to let us know what you want us to be focusing our efforts on, within the scope of what we can do and our plans for the game, so that the game is the best it can be ๐
As long as its advertised as a beta that's fine I don't mind that so much.
I made that mistake, bought evil genius 2 on preorder (the previous one is one of my all time favourites) and it was the buggiest thing I've ever played when it released.. still not much better now its been abandoned
Trust us I'm sure we will give lots of feedback, positive too ๐
Couldn't even get a refund because i got the preorder straight from the devs
Oh ouch
Strange thing with games, if something is done well there is usally no comments on it, but if its bad then everyone comments
I used to like domino's... they keep raising their prices. It makes it harder to justify buying it. I really want to try a Costco pizza though. ยฃ9 for a 18in
Yea dominos is so expensive now days
Ha yeah, then we will have to make a big point when something is good ๐
just a heads-up: careful about posting pictures that include your location ๐
Eh I did see but it's broad. I'm not that exciting even if someone wanted to find me ๐คฃ
your call
any of you looking forward to Sons of the Forest?
I've not played the original and it looks way too scary for me, but it's a survival game, soooo... might appeal to you ๐
I'm looking forward to 38 ๐
And that spoiler thats coming
what else have you played between Portal Knights and now? Are you still on that PK juice?
I've been going between a lot of games, I have a lot of games I've only played for an hour or two but with a lot of games I struggle to get invested into them without getting bored
games like PK?
I'm currently addicted to fallout 4 and rimworld (when i dont crash it with too many mods lol). Started a vamyr playthrough yesterday, and the occasional bit of making stupid things in space engineers.
Me at the moment pretty much
Vampyr like, the game where you play a doctor Vampyr, or something else?
yea that one, its got its issues (mainly the constant needing to cure people or they die) but the combat is fun with some cool abilities
I played it once a wile ago on gamepass but i bought it the other month in one of those cheep game stores
I've played terraria and Minecraft and I like those but games like high on life I looked forward too but I couldn't get into it the story wasn't great at the beginning and the comedy can only carry it so much. The metro games were only but I didn't find it interesting enough and especially after playing games with better graphics or mechanics playing old games is a struggle.
Terraria is a masterpiece
I see what you mean for High on life. Either it works for you, or it doesn't quite, and if the rest of the game isn't to your liking, then it can quickly grate I think
I've not tried the Metro series, although I own a couple. Last one that came out did look beautiful though. Was it not?
Yeah they aren't bad and just starts off slow. I just can't keep my attention on it long enough to get into. I usually end up taking a break from a game for so long I forget what I was doing and have to restart which also is boring. Or I'll want a perfect playthrough and over search things and get bored. That's why I like a lot for games with don't have a set story or path to follow because there is a bit of freedom with it.
someone on Twitter once said there should be a "previously, in [this game]" for when you get back into it after a week or more, so you have a chance to get back into it
it would be an awesome feature, especially for more story-oriented game... but also for open world AAA ubi-style stuff where you can get lost between all the side quests
Yeah I have two assassin creeds installed but lack the enthusiasm to play even though I enjoyed unity Co op for a short time. Maybe later today idk
I've balked at the idea of even getting my feet wet, even though as a games industry person, I've had the chance of having a friend who works for the studio basically give me the game for free
I'm just like "do I really want to make this my entire gaming world for several weeks? Uuuuh"
whereas games like Valheim or Minecraft, idk, I'm not projecting into the long term, I'm just doing that one thing... that will lead to that one other thing in several days at least ๐
I guess the idea of perceived commitment is what I'm scared by
Perhaps it's because I have an idea in my mind of what I think the game will be like and it's different and then that puts me off. I honestly couldn't say why I struggled to play games... It may just be me too but I feel as I'm getting older I am getting considerably worse at the games... ๐ I'm not even old yet.
if we could objectively say why we like or stick to certain games, things would be a lot easier!
and games marketing wouldn't be basically this
Everyone likes different things at different times, i think that is why its so hard
true
As long as you keep telling me 38 will be good I'll have hope for it ๐
nononono you misinterpret what I'm here for
I am here to make the Game 38 community good and tell people it'll be a good time being in it
it's the rest of the team that's doing the marketing. I'm mostly here for after you've bought the game ๐
Totally not gaming on my other monitor oops
what I'm doing here is like, advance customer service I guess
win that race buddy
Ah so I come to you after being asked if I've restarted my device? ๐คฃ
no no that's @mystic cradle
you come to me to complain that the game is unbalanced and things suck and why am I posting memes and not fixing the issues
So you dont tell us to turn it off and on again?
I might
NEW CHANNEL:
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCEjwgKUADCmMzhGHrlueKYw
This channel will become inactive in a few weeks. Thank you all for watching :)
that's been me on a Thursday night after the team pushes the new update and goes for a well-deserved beer
and we get the first reports of saves being broken
I think everyone has been there just for different reasons
has anyone playing PK on Nintendo DS by any chance? I've got a question from a user about it and well, I have no idea how to help them and it feels bad not to ask the specialists in the room ๐
I am being told that PK was not on Nintendo DS, which means I have no idea what game of ours they're asking for help with
I love this
They definitely said DS?
they did
in German also but you don't need Google Translate for "das Spiel auf dem Nintendo DS" ๐
Strange yea, dont think pk is on that, they might of meant switch maybe?
well, I sent them the best troubleshooting I could find, so here's to hoping haha
Has PK been abandoned or are there any other updates coming up / dlc's?
As far as we know itโs done
PK's rights are owned by 505 Games, our former publisher. They might have plans for the game or the franchise, but if they do, we're not aware of them
I played this over the week-end and it was really super cool https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hGThcjucx3Y

it's a "shorter" experience and I think I'll clock in at around 20 hours, after completing most of everything, but I had an incredible time. The whole thing drips with atmosphere
I may have to make a twitter account... I probably wouldn't win it anyway but if I don't play then I definitely won't. Look how cool the xboxs are. I'm not really bothered about the controller...
it does look incredible, but I,m worried about having to make your home decor accommodate a green centerpiece ๐
I have currently been returning the Lords of cinder to their thrones... I had played Wo Long fallen dynasty and then I was like I had to replay DS3 and the main menu theme is amazing my favourite part is probably the abyss watcher fight even that sound track is amazing. @untold lynx an idea for game 38 is have a boss who is really courteous before beating you to a pulp hah
my current notes are "make end boss super hot, everyone loves a good hot villain". Should I erase and put "super courteous" instead??
Is that a spoiler are they going to be hot? Hehe maybe, have you played dark souls?
it's not a spoiler, I'm just memeing
I have played about 10 minutes of Dark Souls 1, thought "oh my god it's so ugly, what are these controls it's like driving a tank" and then never again
but I did put several dozen hours into Elden Ring
I haven't played the first two only ds3 and it was good. I would say its a lot easier that elden ring but still a challenge especially on your first run.
it's not really my usual type of game, I'm a scaredy cat
but with ER's co-op mod, it was much more fun
Elden was fun I wish with games like that you could go back and play it for the first time where everything is now. I found with elden, for me there wasn't much replay-ability
I mean, there's enough secrets and secondary bosses and things to keep you busy for a while tbh ๐
I downloaded a map that had every item location I have been everywhere and done everything I think I really enjoyed the last boss (elder beast) where it was the main theme but calm it was awesome
well damn
I checked and I have just over 40 hours
but only 10/40 achievements
I don't think I'll ever get around to finishing it haha
but it was a good time nonetheless!
Definitely, it was fun (I don't have all the achievements either)
I misguidedly started another Total War Warhammer 3 campaign, this time with a newbie friend
I had forgotten how annoying it could be to try and confederate the Empire ๐
Can't say I know your pain, I have never played...
lovely series, if you like the mix of real-time strategy and more high-level planning
I currently have the stress of running a city in cities skylines
is that really stressful? I always thought cities skylines was more of a chill map painter than a management game
compared to Sim City, for instance, who usually throws some more problems at you the moment you get comfy
I haven't played sims City in a long time but it is pretty similar from what I remember of sims
God forbid my water pump be further down stream than my sewage outlet
I haven't played Simcity 4, but I remember from the others that bringing a city to budget equilibrium was SO HARD
Yeah it's bad when a town, town not city, is in the negative for funds... I was a few thousand down before I got going
in Skylines it always only ever feels temporary, or at least that's the impression I got playing it at release. The game has received so much new content and expansions since, it's probably very different now!
I couldn't say... just started today but there sure looks like a ton of dlcs have been added. Just expanding now that I have unlocked dense zones
they also have so many mods! you're in for a treat ๐
Currently stuck naming roads... I got to have something 38 somewhere ๐
I love that you can name areas in Cities Skylines, it reinforces immersion so much
That would be another idea for game 38, let us rename our gear maybe ๐ฎ
I don't quite think renaming gear is the same thing as renaming an area in a city builder ๐
The sad thing with skylines is that nearly all the new stuff is payed dlc, I think the total price is near ยฃ300 now days
Hell naw, I'm happy with whatever they have on game pass
Well that's one way to increase sales I guess
thank you we try our best
it makes sense when you think about it
The only this is what do I do with the other hand... there's not much to do with the keyboard it feels weird...
How the heck did you manage to get everyone to abandon?
Oh hang on I see some tax symbols
I taxed them like the British colonising the old world
It keeps popping up with a 50k bailout... I don't think that will help.
Lower taxes and it should fix itself, usually does anyway
Yup...
My initial guess was 25m but I was optimistic when I said 20m, I may hit 27 but I've got what I need and now it's about-face for my city.
Never mind I forgot to change the taxes, may even be making money again already
Got down to 23m. I'm going to leave it running while I go out
When I get back, I should be able to buy the buildings I have unlocked from ruining my city. #Fusion #Future

Anyone have Pokรฉmon legends arceus that can trade me a darkrai? I can offer shaymin
If you have gen 7 I could
my last pokemon game was Silver... ๐
Pokรฉmon home won't let me link my account so I can only trade with people who have legends arceus
On 10m debt. After a few tax and policy changes I lost a million and bumped my population over 5k than it was ever before. It won't be long and I'll be back up and running. I'm going to bed, a good way to pass time. Also interesting that we are getting sounds for teasers
โWait you guys play Pokรฉmon games?โ
I wanna be the very best
Not actively
Thats pretty good spec. Attack. I have a perfect garchomp, like Cynthia's. He's my favourite.
I have a lot to do still but I have been working with the terraforming tools to make an island with a volcano (left) it actually is looking really nice
I can't decide where to put the roads...
Settled for something like this light residential and the island will have a disconnected power grid
No one has moved in yet... sigh does the volcano put them off?
Did you zone it and is there demand for the zones?
I did, I've read something on reddit that sometimes a forced build style can stop them from building. I need to change it when I go back onto it and see if it works.
Started Valheim with some friends, seems good so far not really gotten too far however I have built I little village
I'm sorry buddy but we're gonna need some screenshots
It's just a retro fitted abandoned structure really, but I spartan kid a gremlin looking guy down a hill and bated a troll into destroying a lot of things... and then I got squished
at least the troll didn't yeet you into the tall grass
Here is one half, my character like the tout naturel look. I'm between a black forest and lake/ocean? Seems like a good spot.
Wow my mobile data is so bad today ๐
oh you've got quite a nice hive collection going already
love to find some bees
are all of you Valheim rookies?
Ive never played it
Same until now, just about to do my second burial chamber
I'm wondering how similar 38 is going to be after playing this the teasers are giving that kind of vibe
so you've dispatched the first boss already?
decent attempt, you little trickster ๐
Not yet
you should definitely take on the boss of a biome before moving on to the next
if you've got some bows, a bit of honey and meat, the first boss is very doable
Sounds good I have so much cooked boar meat, ๐ getting dear hide is killing me, occasionally I get a luck spear through but you have to aim so high and I can never remember
at least you're using spears. I didn't figure that out until I was in my 2nd run
I like to make everything even if I can skip a lot of it. I keep getting coins, do you meet npcs later or is it just for Co op currency?
you'll need em
there's a trader in the black forest somewhere
but the lil guy might be anywhere, even real far away, so finding him is a crapshoot
but he sells really useful stuff
I won't spoil ๐
Being British I'll just build a fleet and sail the seas
Finally
nice shot! It's easier to creep on them if you hide behind trees and bushes btw ๐
I've gotten a bow which seems easier. I'm currently building a bridge. It's a ton of effort
but well worth it if you can spare yourself being wet!
Or nearly drowning every time
ugh yes haha
I mean after a while you learn to aim for those submerged rocks just to get your stamina back, but it's a gamble every time
It's a struggle to place the supports in the middle sigh
if you have access to bronze (but I'm guessing not yet), you could grab some core wood from the black forest and use it as posts
they're about twice as long
I have copper, I just haven't worked out how to unlock the recipes yet
have you built a furnace?
Yes
forge?
No
that's your next step then haha
I think only copper is necessary for the forge
the other ore you'll need for bronze stuff is tin, which you can find in very specific places in the black forest... I'll let you discover where ๐
I've gotten some tin too
then build your forge because you're all set
Oh it is there in my menu I just must have missed it completely
After a break I have come back and finished my bridge, collected bronze and unlocked the teleporter.
very useful to have a portal between your main base and the boss stones
just a suggestion, of course
Didn't even think of that yet I still need to make on, thanks for the tip. Makes my bridge seem obsolete already ๐ I am currently fearing for my life as a tree did multiple 360ยฐ attacks and took down half a forest with it ๐
where does your bridge lead?
The camp icon on the river is the bridge, house is my current house and top icon is old house
black forest is on the side of the river your current camp is on?
Just a small one yeah
no other black forest in sight?
I think there is one top right, but I would have to make a raft I think
just a heads-up, you can't teleport either raw ore or smelted metal through portals
I did notice the icon, sound an odd idea really
if you could, it would remove a significant amount of the game's difficulty
which is traversal
"yes, you've got all this raw ore, but can you make it back to safety?"
especially since, as you'll discover, crossing bodies of water is... always an adventure ๐
The return of the portal knights!
How soon we need dates ๐
Soon โข๏ธ can mean up to 7 years, according to the Valve Time Index
sooner than that
Upgrades
Wait... have you never played it before?
Why do you think I bought it? Xd
Could have been one of the multiple versions or a different platform
Picked it up at CEX for 6 quid - on the Xbox store itโs 35
Kings of Leon sex on fire was the paying in the shop comically
6 quid damn and you can sell it on for 50p store credit when you're done ๐
Lol
God forbid there be anything other then one small ai on my screen playing valhiem, my frames go... when there is any more or a troll, makes fights so hard
Haha yes ๐คฃ
try reducing the shadows and particles? The game is not super well optimized yet
although they released an optimization for distant mountains with the last patch
I found more black forests by the way, but they were not good. I also came across a mountain but I got too cold
ah well, as long as you can find ore deposits and some more tombs, you'll be fine
Covered myself in some bronze and have me a good pickaxe. I was thinking about finishing exploring the island I am on before heading to the elder ๐ฎ
oh you went with bronze armor? I've always used troll armor for the stealth bonus
sneaky sneaky
I have that too, except the Cape, I haven't come across enough trolls.
they respawn from time to time
I have found a village at the base of the a mountain and between a meadow and black forest . I was fortifying the place and a wolf ate me... ๐บ
it's dangerous to hang out near the mountains if you're just in bronze armor... the wolves do pack a punch!
I was about to take Alfred out and there's a worm on the bottom of my shoe ๐คข
Yeah it hurt
And another one bites the dust
@untold lynx Skyrim stealth archer build here I come. On that note, random, don't touch a bow or no matter how hard you try, you will be a stealth archer. It's a slippery slope
and the finewood bow is such an upgrade!
Wait until I upgrade the 4th upgrade the 4th upgrade that's like 16 upgrades...
Yeah no I just had deadpool in mind the first bow was... well I preferred my spear
the spear is nice, but it breaks down so quickly
I was close to base a lot so it wasn't much of a problem for me. I liked the dual use of it. I might add the copper axe, now that goes down quick and the pickaxes though... need I say more
it is well worth upgrading axe and pickaxe
especially if you use your axe as a weapon (which I do)
Yes I'm working on it and I do, because of the limited inventory. I found a 3rd black forest by the Mountain (too cold for me) and I'm going to get all of the ore once I get back.
what's your map look like now?
So I've decided to place a load of pins, House for structures I've built. Camp fire for abandoned shacks and towers. The orb for biomes (as the black forest doesn't look too different on the map) and the stone thing for troll caves and burial sites. I makes it look like there is something in the world at least I'll send a photo when I'm home.
9 to 5 huh... tencent not got you on the 996 yet? ๐คญ
My mum when teenage me had breakfast at 3pm
Went exploring, got hunted by a goblin party who were specifically hunting for De4d got drained by a deathscito and observed a vox from AFAR
ooh you've encountered some plains. Exciting!
No, no.
Terrifying is more like it.
I died several times Trying to recover my items...
I need to find a swamp apparently
I am thinking of heading to the elder... I assume I will find a swamp. I just want a boat and not some logs tied together with my back hair ๐
It would be fun doing this in 38 too!
Well, I died in a troll cave and everything is gone
Well I think I'm done with the game until it comes out of preview, I lost everything again I tried using one of the restore data but all of the structures I had built were gone after that. I'm pretty annoyed.
when you lose all your stuff, the best way to get it back is go for a corpse run with good food (so you have stamina and hp), and just dodge everything in your path
you have an invulnerability frame in your dodge roll that's honestly pretty generous, so you could have grabbed your stuff from your grave even with the troll there, provided you dodged at the right time! ๐
No, it's gone. I got there but there was no grave. I tried using the restore save feature and all of them say I'm on day one and all the structures I have built are gone. All portals the boss trophies I hung up and all of my chests.
I have one restore where my character has a few items but all of the other saves have nothing on my character and all world saves have reset.
very strange. Even if a container is broken, usually the contents are spilled on the floor. Sucks for you ๐
Apparently it's a common problem on xbox currently
yeesh, that sucks
Very much so, I will probably make a group post and beg for supplies from someone ๐ฎโ๐จ
always nice to have a hand-me-downs chest for this specific case ๐
I kept all my old armour, it was in the chests at my base. Which is gone.
tbh messing with the saves was a bit of sorcery you probably shouldn't have tried
I only tried it because I had lost all of my stuff already. At least I still have half a copper axe...
And some low level troll armour
if you need another basic pickaxe, eykthir shouldn't be that difficult now ๐
Thankfully I have my finewood bow however, I had recently beaten the elder and now I have to go back to him.
he is annoying but not too hard
I did him first try, it was just the getting there being the annoying part
have you found the merchant yet?
Nope I haven't really gotten too far around my map and now I have been set back
met any friend in the ocean?
Thankfully I haven't come across any big oceans yet
@tribal saffron Do you have pokemon home, I'm looking to see if I can move pokemon there
Yeah I got Pokรฉmon home to work
I'd have to pay to transfer from the bank I found out... Sigh. I'm thinking about getting a switch but idk if it would be worth it...
My Garchomp, I just got the mega stone for it too
not even stats? Just "the best" everywhere ๐ฎ
The grind to make it perfect like Cynthia's was unreal. It has the same moves too

I believe you! I enjoyed my time playing Pokemon. I'm sure I would enjoy it nowadays too. It would probably be stuff that you very much expect, but with enough new content and twists to keep it fresh. How many new games can actually scratch that nostalgia itch?
New games? That's a good question.
I guess there's a bunch of 2d farming rpg-lites like Stardew Valley
that hit similar notes
I enjoyed stardew until I hit it's finite limit of things to do, that's why I like building games a lot. Plenty of new things to build, create and improve
I mean, there's a lot of mods and expansions for the game tp keep it going
just gotta hit Nexus Mods and take a look... ๐
unless you're playing on console again ๐
Not on xbox, only PC.
ah yes that's always the issue
Ordered a switch, probably not worth it, I didn't realise the witcher and skyrim were on it though. So that's cool for long journeys.
not sure how well witcher 3 actually runs on Switch
Yeah that's what I'm thinking, but hopefully it's not too bad for ยฃ40. Switch games are expensive it seems compared to other platforms. But if 38 is good, I'll get it on both.
if I can make a recommendation, my favorite game to travel with is 80 Days
there are versions on about every console, and phones, and Steam
here's the Switch one: https://www.nintendo.com/store/products/80-days-switch/
I think Android is a few bucks
oh wait this is the wrong link
It's okay, Google translates it
better link ๐
some youtubers I like had made a video that made me decide to buy it. It's a fun watch:

I'll have a look. I couldn't find game play on the store. I'll watch the video now.
There is kinda multiplayer, you talk to your friends about travelling the world after travelling the world ๐ Not sure if I'd enjoy a travelling game while travelling. Seems an interesting concept but I'm not sure if I would become interested in it enough.
I was just intrigued after the video but I found the possibilities of picking my way around the world, and the discovery of the numerous stories and what happens in the bigger world absolutely fascinating
to this day, it's one of my favorite games. Let me know if you do pick it up!
I need to take pictures of the base I am building underneath this mine in Valheim. It is turning out to be quite cool-looking
The witcher digital edition on the eshop (nintendo) is ยฃ50 I think I got it for ยฃ10 on xbox. I don't even think a small majority of it would go to the developers either.
I have no idea what the dev/publisher/store cut is on eshop
Supposedly 30%
in that case that's the same as Steam, so presumably they'd make pretty good money for any copy, especially considering the going price for the same game on GoG or Steam! ๐
it's important that people can find your game in the stores! big boxes help! ๐
I suppose... but if they made them like the ds ones they would save 50% space on shipping
they were shorter boxes, right?
Yeah, I think they were really thick though
I guess it's a question of perception
small box = cheaper product
premium = BIG BOY BOX
After a really long update, I'm able to play it. Looks good.
that title screen looks like Skyrim's "so you're finally awake" sequence ๐
It's proceeded by a guy always telling you - I see you gathered before me, hungry, terrified... then I skip it's so annoying to listen to.
I mean it does have an impact the first time
but holding the player by the hand and not letting go for several minutes can be a bit boring when you're a repeat customer
and considering that Skyrim is being replayed over and over and over... yeah I guess it does get old fast ๐
Problem with RPGs is you ether have unskippable dialogue or cutscenes or itโs all skippable and people complain about a lack of plot (because they skipped all of it)
that's the problem with interactive media
True yea
Although, I do like when itโs possible to skip stuff, the players choice then - even if they complain about it
just putting on Lord of the Rings and not giving anyone a choice whatsoever!
best is skippable but with a long key press, so you don't accidentally yeet the important cutscene
Yea for sure
listen, it would be great for about 9 hours of meme-filled wonder on the internet
and then New Line Cinema lawyers would dropkick us into the Balrog's pit
I think the total runtime is 12 actually
that was more like, reaction time
12 is I think extended editions, I think I'd go with theatrical releases for brevity
"brevity"
Maybe Iโm thinking about LOTR and the hobbit together
not a big fan of the hobbit movies
they feel a bit like a fever dream compared to LOTR
Shhhhh
I just love how they cut so much out to give it a shorter runtime that they could of made another film with it
and somehow no Tom Bombadil ๐ญ
What about the extended editions...
Oh wait I see coolusernamebro brought it up
one day, I want to do this during a rewatch
In February 2018, my wife & I decided to embark on a gruelling quest: to watch all three Lord of the Rings films (extended editions, of course), while attempting to eat everything that got eaten on screen. We were doing it in memory of my parents, who had both recently died, and who had loved both LOTR and good food. It blew up into a bit of a t...
I dare you to do that with silence of the lambs
I humbly decline
Iโve just read it, that just sounds the the average Christmas for me
Shiny hunting hurts me on a spiritual level ๐ฎโ๐จ
this kind of completionist stuff has never really been my thing
it would drive me nuts
It's not at all necessary to the game, I just want to flex it on a particular group of people. That's where I get a lot of enjoyment. Not necessarily being better but just having cool things to flex. But it does make the game last longer...
oh I mean it rarely is necessary, it's just that I really don't feel attracted by these sorts of tasks
unless there's a cool quest or some story attached to it
Oh, I get you. I usually don't mind doing monotonous tasks in games as long as I feel the reward is worth it. For example building a massive base in portal knights, it took about 3 months to build and got really boring but now, I have a cool base with a ton of storage for all the cool things I collect portaling
last game where I quit when I just had a checklist of stuff to tick left was Cyberpunk
"find this graffiti" like no Sir I will not
Ha, I know what that's like. Try red dead redemption 2, they want you to find dream catchers in trees. Like that's going to be easy without a guide. I think not ๐ฌ
But I suppose, if you're bored enough but still enjoy the game it is still something for people to do
Collecting wisps in Pokรฉmon legends arceus is hell
I mean some people like it
how do I remember this line 10 years after last playing the game
this man loved his trash loot โค๏ธ
His mother told him the same about him
I'm skipping that one, I've got shining pearl, sword and scarlet. If you're still looking for a darkrai I'll try bring one over from platinum when I get a chance
Ok thx
It took me just a couple days to beat sword and I ended with around 20 Pokรฉmon in the dex lmao
Fr you don't have to stop to level up any pokemon along the way ๐คฃ๐คฃ
I was a little disappointed, but it may be a good game to just use it to breed and train pkm
I got all the badges and I just need to do the elite 4/champion whatever they have in that one
You have to beat a few gym leaders again and then fight bede again or whatever his name is
After that you have to go through something annoying and then you can finally fight the champion
Cough spoiler cough
I'm joking I don't mind
Also the annoying part sounds about right
There's also another annoying thing after you beat the champion
Sounds accurate
Still better than what I'm going through in Pokรฉmon violet
Oh no... I was told you can do the campaign coop tho. I have a person who wants to play it with me. You make it sound like I will have to prepare... mentally! ๐
There's so much to do and you have to prepare for it all. I just beat the final titan Pokรฉmon and now I can't progress in that line until I beat more gyms and level the hell out of my Pokรฉmon
Good luck with that
About the third day in soft resetting but I could be wrong, the days blur together... my dilemma, I want a shiny starter - I want to play the game. I also feel I have invested too much time to stop now...
sounds rough
It is
dear diary, today I wrote "sounds rough" twice. The madness has taken me
Sounds rough
I'm just play briefcase simulator over here...
is that an actual game
Nope, just picking my pokemon
so that's what Pulp Fiction was about...
I want briefcase simulator to be an actual game
I mean there's Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes
๐ฆ
๐ค
no no @tribal saffron it's the opposite, you gotta talk buddy
otherwise everyone goes bada bing bada boom
It's actually quite weird if things don't blow up
If explosions are possible it's a goal
I guess we play Winmine differently then
Best Pokรฉmon move is Self Destruct
you can't lose, it just makes sense!
You're winning as long as you're having fun
very wise words
I've decided to give up the hunt. I've had really bad luck. Thus I am going to stop when I find a male modest Piplup
Interestingly back in the nintendo ds days, you could use action replay to make a pokemon shiny after catching it... I wonder if there is a way to do it on with too...
I used to do it on the DS but I was considering doing it on the 3DS now, especially as they have dropped support and closed the eshop for it
Oh yeah and now you don't have to pay to transfer Pokรฉmon from bank to home since they closed the eshop
I paid for it, it was about ยฃ6 for the year, not as bad as the ยฃ12 they want for me to move pokemon from the bank into home
But up to gen 5 I can get any pokemon hopefully once my SD card gets delivered I can make it any pokemon up to gen 7 which is a lot of pokemon
Look at this totally cool game I found on switch, I'm definitely getting it.
Never heard of it
Heheh
Oh wow that does look cool
Wow, it does
Hey guys, while you wait, consider checking out Portal Knights, Keen Games previous title.
Leave the familiar world behind and step into the fantastic unknown with Portal Knights! Play with your friends in this action-packed crafting adventure across dozens of sandbox Islands connected by ancient portals.
No one can remember how long itโs been since the peaceful world was torn apart by The Fracture, plummeting it into darkness. Is there any soul brave enough to reunite the shattered realm?
Portal Knights was a lot of fun
Isn't it still? ๐ฅฒ
My kids still play it (a lot)
I built this on xbox and I'm currently trying to rebuild it on switch
Quite probably, but I haven't played in years so I can only speak in past tense. ๐
here is my favorite PK build from back the days:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2017801457
I will so rebuild it in Enshrouded hrhr
That looks awesome
I remember seeing a video of this, it's good!
That's gorgeous! Top notch work
Wait wait wait, theyre the same creator as portal knight??
They are.
Dang thats awesome, I used to love that game
I haven't tried it, but I just looked it up, and it looks pretty fun
Yes I am bringing it up as much as possible without trying to be spam like. I am hoping with all the new arrivals, Portal Kinghts gets a little revive, in the meantime while 38 is being made.
The game had some really good progression and gameplay, makes me incredibly excited to see if that same care transfers to Enshrouded
I'm playing Valheim currently. Curious what other similar style games you guys are playing? I'm REALLY excited for Enshrouded.
Portal Knights, Keen Games previous game
Valheim, 7days2die, occasionally Conan. Feels more like I'm waiting on something new these days. Valheim having mods does help though.
Conan on an off, 7days, Valheim and a few tryouts of other similar styles
been grinding 7 days darkness fall mod with some friends
its been pretty fun, lowkey really want to get back into valhiem tho
stopped before I got into the mistlands
You reached the Mistlands , havent done naything but kill an hare :X Looking forward to look at it and see what's up with the new things they added since they launched that biome. I love how enshrouded building seems better than Valheim
I done a little in mistlands, but got off before going too crazy. Holding off for ashlands so I have even more to do. Instead of smashing through the content too quickly
yeah same here haha, entered and killed a hare and collected a few items off the ground but that's it
I want to get back in but I had mods and a few messed up, tried fixing it for a while and gave up
I'll try again soon, I'll just delete the mods probably
Im thinking of doing that as well haha
I'm also taking that approach with Valheim. I waited that long for Mistlands, I can wait longer for more content so that it's more substantial and there's more to do when I return.
I went through mistlands with some friends who'd never played Valheim, the really clumsy kind of friend who makes everything more difficult
Feels like Mistland became even harder thanks to them
and then we built an underground base under an infested mine
protected from these pesky Gjalls and their incendiary bombs!!
I strongly recommend using one of these online map tools to know where the infested mines are, otherwise you might struggle quite a bit to find them... and you need them for the mistland crafting stations!
some ss from my most recent Valheim base, here is to hope that Enshrouded will be also fun building experience beacuse there aren't that many good base builders in 3d
havent played through mistlands patch yet, but at this point i'll probably wait for full release (whenever it is) after 200+ hours cant bring myself to start from 0 again
although mistlands looks fun, but small updates recently break mods all the time and cant imagine playing without them anymore
most importantly valheim plus for 4-5x drop rates to materials, playing solo is way too much grind to build bases like this, on the other hand just spawning it with commands breaks immersion too much
so its nice sweet spot to just raise drop rates
Wow those screenshots are awesome!
incredible stuff! Love the road!!
I don't have a lot of shots of my Valheim builds, but I was rather pleased with this storage room slash hangout area
it just looked like a nice place to have a drink at after a long day of looting things and getting chased around by trolls
I'm definitely joking, you guys are making me wanna play again
I just hope they have fixed some of the problems on xbox...
first thing that comes to mind when i see those torches is how much pain was to refuel them on vanilla Valheim, it's fun immersion mechanic until it's not beacuse you have too many and it turns into chore, i wonder how Enshrouded will handle it
you're definitely right about the torches! One of my friends was a torch goblin, he'd put them everywhere!!
and then never refuel them, so the place was plunged in darkness anyway!!
How tedious is building? Just seen itโs on Xbox so Iโm considering getting it
It's fun
Why refuel when you can build a new one
i may be biased but personally it was most fun i had with building base in any survival game
with a controller I cannot say! but I agree with Black Salami, base building is super fun!!
getting materials for big base will be tedious solo, but nothing that cant be fixed with mods (from what i seen from teasers they will also implement changeable drop rates for mats in vanilla Valheim soon tm)
It had good controls for controller
also good time to ask if Enshrouded will have something similar to building integrity (like valheim) or just build wherever (like fallout 4) ๐ค
It would be nice if it does but I can imaging being caught off guard by it all the time and have big blocks of stone and wooden beams falling on me
i think it's great mechanic, makes you approach building in a different way, with building support beams and all
although not that big deal if it's not there
there isn't at the moment. I don't think it's planned either. With voxel building, it would probably be very complex!
sighs with relief
It could be really neat if there werent durability limits BUT the buildings can take damage and break from attacks or raids if there is any
but imagine if your suspended castle that is resting on one tiny pillar of glass gets shattered by an enterprising goblin or something
i would say shame on the player for not having proper defenses. but that would really depend on if the buildable voxels have physics
do they?
Man you guys have somehow mastered building roofs in Valheim lol. That's the part I hate the most honestly. I started being lazy and just use the /\ shape in one straight line just to save on time. Doesn't look too bad but it's far from being good. I keep one spot in the middle more elevated for my fire for the smoke to exit but that's about it. I also use the hoe and elevate rocks around my base as defense instead of putting stone walls , and I build towers on that instead. Saves me a lot of rock and when Trolls attack they can't throw anything at the base or destroy my walls. My farm in the plains definitely has trenches instead of walls ๐
Curious to see how the roofs are gonna be like in Enshrouded
2 tips i could give that will make any build look better is:
- dont do just 1 shape, try to break it a bit, add some tower/another room in opposite direction and so on
- adding some texture to most plain square will make it look decent, like in example of this small hut just adding another layer of beams in the front and back gives it very nice look imo
some sexy thatching there
those double beams is something i used for pretty much any build, love how it looks like
oh and basic doors can do as nice windows
please do not talk about games that leaked online like you are playing them! That would mean that you are doing illegal things and I would have to remove your message because that's not cool!! Don't be that person!!!
that's much better, I'll leave my message as a warning should it be needed for others!!

sugar rush was bound to eventually turn into sugar crush!
this is looking pretty good....my other favorite ultima retrospective vid was spoonys interviews with richard garriot
wow thats cool that key codes and game time cards were started with UO
anyone waiting for Nightingale?
Yes I am
40K Sith Lord.
do you play with DoF on, or is that just for screenshots? I find it really annoying while playing... will often blur out mobs that i'd otherwise have noticed
I can't wait for Blight: Survival. Medieval zombie games are slept on, usually because they're hard to make fun. But the stealth mechanics and animations in Blight look amazing.
Just screenshots, not sure what DoF is
#the-tavern message
Kind of like skyrim, speaking of which, did you end up becoming a stealth archer when you played @merry moat
I may have to play skyrim again
Skyrim stealth archer is god tier, because they use bows, bows are god tier
#Biased
Ha
My very first Skyrim playthrough was mage actually, second was the classic warrior, and uhh there have been a few after that.
My most recent one Iโm attempting a pure archery build though
I play loot goblin every time I play
Everytime I go into Skyrim, I'm always thinking I'll be doing maybe a mage, or a warrior, but then I remember how bad magic is, and how wonky the blocking etc feels for a warrior, so I just end up going archer every time
I actually started one of mine purely on solstiem which was a challenge but fun (all enemies there at level 20+, I eventually had to leave to do some of the main questline just to unlock the solstiem questline though
Creation club backpacks make that worse for me, I was already a loot goblin
Yeah no matter how hard I try, if I so much as touch a bow, I instantly become a stealth archer hehe
To true
Magic is so bad but also there are a few spells which are very OP, especially with the right gear (cough fortify restoration loop)
I know right?! Archer is just too much fun
I liked being a necromancer if I do magic, I finally feel like I'm not alone
AND THEY CAN CARRY MORE LOOT!
Yeah, that's kind of my issue with it, you almost "need" the loop to not just instantly run out of mana and get whacked for a homerun by a giant or something
Necromancy is so unbalanced, one of the stone abilities letโs you resurrect every dead thing around you, combine that with the magic crown thing that lets you hold a second stone ability (cooldowns reset if you unequip and reaquip it) and it gets very wonky
I still canโt believe they kept the fortify restoration in the game, you can do so much gamebreaking stuff with it
Like the time I made a fork so strong it crashed the game if I hit something with it
Fr do a knife and fork playthrough
Haha donโt tempt me
I mean, it's not really a bug that affects "normal" players, like, you have to really go for it with purpose, it's not something you do on accident, so I guess that's why they haven't bothered?
Perhaps yea, and I guess Skyrim is perfectly bugless in general anyways
It's... "working as intended"
โIt just worksโ
I do it to have more carry weight usually, for the LOOT!
or to make the one ring from lord of the rings... it's a lot of fun
I usually do it for stamina regen if Iโm not doing a melee build, just letโs me run everywhere then
I have to ask, is anyone playing Star Wars Jedi Survivor here and is actually able to play more than 1 hour before crashing?
The latest patch did nothing to fix the crashes for me
After playing the last one I was going to wait a year and see if there was a 50% off sale or something. I liked the previous game but not that much, I'm not paying that much for a sequel. That sounds horrible.
The game is great, much better than the first one in pretty much every aspect except the performance issues that sucks *****
Good to know, I mainly was not a fan of the constant parkour between every single enemy ๐
What do you mean?
Swinging from ropes, which my character would never grab, running across walls and using zip lines just wasn't that fun for me. It was rather linear too which I also didn't enjoy massively.
I've been enjoying it a lot actually, no performance issues so far, I've been one of the lucky ones it seems
Oh that type of parkour is still there @full acorn
It's still a core of the gameplay I would say in many locations
So far I've only been to 2 planets, the first one and the second basically
Now, the second planet is much more open than any other planet from previous game I would say but yeah, still a lot of parkour movement
Lucky you
I want to play the game, I basically keep staring at it in my Steam list but I can't play for even an hour or even 15 minutes before it crashes
The only time I exceeded 1 hour of continuous gaming in the game was the first day I played it
Yeah, I saw a lot of people reporting issues with performance before i bought it, so I was skeptical, but my first session was about 4,5hours and i had no issues luckily
According to steam I have 5.7 hours in the game after a week so yeah... Issues this game has, as Yoda would've said
Depth of Field, the blur in the background
Chat GPT wasn't very helpful sooo, which class should I go on skyrim? After which I will chose which race.
Spoon only
Pffff I might as well use the power of my mind ๐
Haha
Sticking with one of the subclasses can be pretty fun, melee for example has different sword types, maces ect
Yeah I did a 2H Nord recently that was fun so I was thinking about going imperials again
Maybe spice it up and only use gear you make
Iโve done that a few times and itโs actually pretty interesting
That's what I did and I didn't even have a house I like loot but man that was a struggle! I didn't even fast travel so it lasted longer, still fun though.
Oh god no fast travel, I can see the appeal but I tried it in fallout 4 and everything took so much longer
It's something to do, I enjoy the random encounters and trying to immerse myself more. It can be a little tedious though.
there is only sneaky archer in skyrim
Legit. That's the only/best class in skyrim. Everything else is suboptimal.
Wish it were otherwise, but that's the truth
I've heard conjurer can be OP, just summon daedra for everything and let them run ruin
Sneaky archer is what i played on Skyrim lol
Sneaky archer is what everyone plays, it's just so much fun
I had maxed sneak, maxed archer with a very high crafting and enchanting skill set. One hitting some dragons was a somewhat common occurrence
Strange idea of fun
Full stealth archer until you get found out then you pull out the the big heavy axe
Go lore accurate bosmer, in accordance to the green pact, you cannot use or eat anything made of plants.
Stealth only is only fun if you are wearing the jester head piece for the slow mo kills.
Only betas play stealth archers. Everyone knows heavy two handed is the real man's class ๐ช๐ช
Testosterone much?...
If he wants to two-hand a big handle then he's allowed to
๐ถ
So silly
yes. crush enemies with hammer, big strong
g rrrr
my favourite activity in my freetime tbh. sometimes ill swap between two
played few hours of octopath traveler II yesterday, game looks stunning
based
Omg that looks so good, Iโll absolutely have to check it out!
not that big jrpg guy (only played Trails series generally) but first 4h were really good, pretty nice dialogues and battle system feels pretty fresh for turn based combat, ost is great so far too
For sure, that are design alone will make me play
If the ost is good as you say Iโll be more then happy
I think there is a demo for the first game that you can try
Play pretty much the same I believe
Not my type of game, I mostly end up getting stuck in jrpgs or turn based rpg:s in general
from what i gathered from friends they are only very loosely connected with some few nods here and there
maybe ill check it out after i finish this one
and apparently first game was basically 8 separate stories, those characters never interacted with each other, which is a bit of turn off
what i loved in Trails series for example is how many characters and npc interactions there was
@ruby walrus how goes your portal-ing?
Went very well and stream seemed to enjoy it also!
Was a bit tricky with some quest and not knowing which crafting tool did what crafting for a bit, but I figured it out and made a bunch of copper stuff while completeing trails
You even did the pillars event, nice
It was an awesome time
guys when is Skyrim 2 coming out
4 days till TotK
โover 350 billion lines of dialogueโ
โyouโll forget that this is even a game and think youโre reading the New York Timesโ
If you want a Skyrim esc game I can recommend Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon
It has a really interesting take on the Arthur legend and a nice lore around it and plays pretty much exactly like Elder Scrolls, so far
It's in early access and was just released almost
Fall of Avalon looked and handled like thin dogshit
Yea Octopath really does look great...it was weird how i sorta lost interest in the first one after i did all the character stories
Unlocked everyone ready to roll then it just sorta fell off for me not much of an explanation
its single player, shame on them, releasing such a game without the possibility of even co-op in 2023
I prefer it that way
Everything doesn't have to be co-op, especially something that is heavy on story and with simple mechanics imo
Also, balancing a co-op game is very hard and then we have the connection issues that are bound to be there
Don't get me wrong
I love co-op but not all games should have it
A strict single player game is fine
One recent single player game I would like to have seen co-op in is Star Wars Jedi Survivor
It's story heavy sure but the gameplay is the biggest focus
Not sure what you mean as I had no issues with anything
Biggest issue I had was dying to enemies because I underestimated them
Some bugs but that was understandable
Fair enough, we each have our own preference.
For me a SinglePlayer game needs to be outstanding to be able to compete with the fun i can have in the most basic co-op scenario.... and sadly that game looks nothing of the sort.
No outstanding gameplay, no outstanding graphics.... they talk about the story... but judging by the rest of the game i highly doubt the story is delivered with voice acting, exceptional sound effects that enhance this story or outstanding in other ways. If all u have is a book and u throw it in a barely functional game, ur better of leaving it as a book.
I understand the desire for indie devs to make games, but in today's day and age you need to produce something exceptional if u want to limit urself to single player games.
Just my 2 cents.
Totally disagree. There is def a market for single player indie games
Not everything has to be groundbreaking and evolutionary. Dredge and Dave the Diver are examples of great indie games that aren't exceptional but the gameplay loop is fun.
Speaking of groundbreaking #other-games message
I knew what this was before clicking
oh!! I have a couple of recommendations for really good single player indie games!
all of them are narrative games, because those are the types of solo games I enjoy the most
Citizen Sleeper is one
Roadwarden another
and most recently I finished Pentiment
I could give descriptions for each but!! It's an hour past my bedtime, so just trust me on this!!!
I'll have a look for sure
Well the portal knights server is incredibly quiet (feel free to join it) send me a dm if you want to play it with me. I have it on xbox and switch and I am happy to help with whatever anyone needs
Meanwhile I must go lose myself in some portals!
Surprisingly enough they do have voice acting, not anything special but basic voice acting like Skyrim
I've mostly been playing Grounded with my kids, when they're not in trouble and had gaming time revoked. Or playing My Time at Sandrock alongside my wife who is playing it too. We were playing 7 Days to Die together, but got too overpowered and it wasn't a challenge anymore, so instead of cranking up difficulty we're taking a break until alpha 21.
try out 7 days to die with the darkness falls mod, https://dev.azure.com/KhaineUK/_git/DarknessFallsA20
it will definitely add a challenge, maybe even to much of a challenge.. haha
I had to tweak the settings a lot from how difficult it was getting!
I've been watching the Neebs guys play it, think I'll wait for alpha 21 instead
for sure, I'm hoping they'll add some good stuff for A21
Looks fun, looks cool too with classes, but I'll wait
And yeah, waiting on that alpha 21 release. They announced a date yet that you know of?
All my looking hasn't found one
not to my knowledge sadly
Damn. Ah well, back to the waiting game instead
Has anyone here tried Smalland?
@trim yoke no but I want to, I liked Grounded enough but think I'd get into Smalland a lil more. Have you tried it?
Has anyone played both enough to be able to say how they differ? I'm really curious
I've played a heap of Grounded, but no Smalland yet
No, but i heard its a good game
It certainly looks fun
Smalland is a very awesome game. It has a lot of freedom in building. You can set building parts upside down rotate then in any way clip them trough other building objects. The world and nature itself is stunning. I never get lost because i recognize al kinds of places. I barely have to use a map. Notting looks the same and there are a lot of points of interests. What makes navigating better. And something that i really love is the gliding wings. ๐ฆ
Been working on a Valheim style game myself. You can check out the free version on itch.io
https://titan-dev507.itch.io/dragonfort
As cool as that looks, you should probably find out the rules on self promotion in another games discord
it's free. not really promoting anything.
I don't know the full rules, just don't want to see you getting in trouble
That game is 2 years of work btw. Crazy huh?
2 years? I can absolutely believe that.
Enshrouded is a game I wish I could make.
When I saw their trailer I wishlisted and was like damn, they do such a good job.
Nobody would pay $$ for my shit lol.
In this specific case, I'll allow the link!! Looks sweet for a solo project!
So thereโs a Skyrim quest that requires you to wear a chefs hat
is that a mod?
Itโs actually not no, I had some creation club stuff active (the special arrows) but the quest is part of the dark brotherhood questline
dark brotherhood is the one where you murder folks, right?
That sums up most of Skyrim but yes
You join them by murdering the women that runs the orphanage because thatโs what nice people do
I've been saying this!!
Given context it makes more sense but Iโd rather confuse people
so do you bake some ""bread""
Even better, you just tell someone else what to do
in that mission you ||kill emperor by poisoning his food||
Beat the Worm boss first try with only taking one half heart of damage on Portal Knights today!
Very nice
Believe it or not it actually used to be slightly harder back in the earlier versions. There's still so much for you to explore!
Dang, that makes me kinda hyped for the next bosses
alright friends, Zelda's finished loading, I'll see you all next week! Be nice!!
(we didn't post that version online because we thought maybe some people could misunderstand our love for Zelda)
(but you guys are cool so you can see it)
(consider it a Discord special)
(bye again!!!)
๐
I just watched the gameplay reveal for gollem... not sure how to feel about it. Has anyone else seen it?
I've seen bits and pieces of it and im not fully impressed but im still gonna keep an eye on it
Have not seen it
any new builder-survival games you guys would recommend to tide me over to this title? already played like 200 hrs of valheim
It's not new but it's good. Portal knights!
Portal knights is indeed very fun
I don't know, don't have a lot of faith in the developers of Portal Knights...
๐
Core Keeper looks like a interesting game
It's very different from Valheim as I t has a locked top down perspective and somewhat pixilated graphics
It has crafting, mining, combat and co-op
I have only tried a demo a while back, haven't bought it yet
Yeah I had some fun with core keeper
Almost beat the whole game on my first run with a hardcore character, but died to one of my mob farms haha
Almost done with the game on my second run with a friend
dont get me started on hardcore characters bro I've died on like 20 WoW classic HC characters
hundreds of hours pi*sed away
Haha for sure, sure does give it that extra charm though
One i highly HIGHLY recommend is "The Rift Breaker" on steam. I think you can still DL a free demo. Its kinda like dyson sphere, mixed with sim city, mixed with mech warriors, mixed with they are billions and a techno rpg.... Its a 3rd person shooter/builder but you are in a mech suit and you get to teleport around to different biomes and build bases and defend them. Dev team is AMAZING. Stream the game 2-4 times a week. Take feedback and actually ROLL IT INTO THE GAME.
i cant believe theres people still just experiencing skyrim, that makes my heart warm
^ thats no friggin joke. Ive considered geting back into it for all the insane mods that are out for it now. theres a VR one that allows you to actually manipulate all objects and people. id assume alot use it for dirty purposes. but id like to try it for fighting in my living room and punching my fish tank on accident!
I can tell you that Skyrim in VR is very different if they have done a good mod
I have Skyrim VR on PSVR and everything, I mean everything, was so much bigger, from the people to the doors and ofc the sabertooth tiger that attack me from behind
Zelda ppl! Let me see your weird machines!!!
unrelated but combat in Skyrim VR is probably heavily modified? if it was the same speed as the game, considering how slow it was for my warrior (2 handed sword babayyyy!!), it would be Puke Central
Hard to tell really
It's not too fast imo but that me
You can also swing your weapon basically as fast as you can swing your arm irl, as for the damage, I think it's constant
Same with the bow, you can become like a automatic arrow rifle or something when you get the hang of knocking an arrow and firing it
ok so they've definitely modified the animations to fit arm movement
I mean, I play the official Skyrim VR game so is probably very different from a moded version
for the best I think!
Though the official Bethesda developed Skyrim VR game is probably just moded as nothing else but the controls have changed really
It's still a pretty cool and different experience from the flat screen version
I recently downloaded a mod for Star Wars Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast that turns the game into a VR game
All I needed was my Quest 2 headset and the game on Steam which I already had, then I just downloaded the mod and transfered some things here and there, done
Cool experience, controls aren't perfect but work very well for a free mod
"I should bust out my Quest more often", he thinks, for the 4327th time this year
aka "the beat saber machine"
Ah yes, beat saber
Got that one for both PS4 and Quest 2
Though it's easier on Quest 2 as PSVR tracking isn't as good but I still suck at the game on both platforms ๐
you gotta work your way up the seasons to limber up
I can play expert easily in the first few seasons, but some of the latter, and some of the modded content is way out of my reach
some people just move too fast!!
is this the movie Avatar??
I honestly don't know how to respond to this. Just sharing something I built today.
I'm just making a joke because some of your lil guys are blue!!
your char creation looks really good!
Thank you
Maybe I'll do the female tomorrow. Got to sleep now.
bye!!
DOS2 spotted! That's a good one!
whaddyamean
they're all good ones!!
"what type of games do you play, CoolUsernameBro?"
"yes"
I always have to explain myself when showing my valheim time played or people think I have no life... I mean, not that I do, but I count it as proof of testing mods I make ๐
holy
Mobile so hours aren't showing buuuut
Also GW2 isn't through Steam for me but it'd def be on the list
solid selection!!
Endless legend is lower than i expected and humankind was played ona different platform
What's not pictured: My console game playtime.
My Archeage playtime (which I had installed through the Glyph launcher)
My ArcheRage playtime (private server for the game).
My Archeage Unchained playtime (glyph launcher).
Double all of my dark souls playtimes, and multiply all of my Runescape playtime by like... 30, to include other versions of the game.
I dread to think what my console playtime is
how much of that TF2 playtime is "chasing the good hats to sell them on?"
interesting selection! the modern total wars are rarely people's most played. Couple of names I don't know on there!
I only played the game for fun. The main thing is that when I was young and growing up, I didn't have internet. When I had a chance to play Tf2 on Wifi, I abused it for every scrap of gameplay I could.
I love the TW games.. the recent ones have been quite weak, IMO.. Except the Warhammer selection.
Well, I "had" internet... it was Hughesnet. Satellite internet.
And I had a 500mb daily download allowance each day, with 1,000+ ping.
Ouch.
And 100kb download speeds.
Double-Ouch!
All for the low, low price of $110 a month.
If you added my WoW playtime though (which can be played off of phone wifi, surprisingly), I'd have... like... 6k hours in that alone, minimum.
I thought you said "TF2 on Wii" and I had a little breakdown for a moment!!
xD No no, on wifi. I used to grab my terrible laptop, and drive to a mexican restaurant out in the boonies with free wifi. I would spend the entire lunch and dinner service there, until they limited me to 2 hours of time, then I moved on to another restaurant an equal distance away.
Erk, I tried hard to like ESO, but the combat is so clunky.
That's a major selling point for me; combat. Has to be good, or the exploration has to be better.
Yeah.. Fine examples;
STO = Ship battles, amazing. Ground missions, total ass.
SWTOR = Can't say for ship battles, but the ground combat is excellent.
If I could completely avoid ground in STO, I would.
Oof
I thought they were a bit underwhelming!
That already falls into "Do not want" category.
very much enjoyed Huttball pvp arenas though!
I'm not a fan of Sci-Fi at all. Getting me to play Sci-Fi is hard, but I managed to cram some hours into Desinty 2 and the Halo Franchise, even if I'm not a fan of the FPS genre in general (excluding Tf2, which was just fun).
TF2 is a third person shooter!!
you can see your little guy!
he goes "boink!" and speaks in a Boston accent!!
very agitated type of customer
walked right into that one
Sprinted* lol
I have a cat in my lap, nobody's touching this zipper!
I actually get sad that my bunnies don't like to sit with me. ๐ฆ
Anti-social bugs! ๐
still angry at mine for gnawing on my SNES' power cable over 2 decades ago
it's shooting electric sparks! What kind of behavior is this!!
Yikes.
anyway I regret there's no way of knowing how many hours I sunk into Minecraft
probably not thousands thousands
but maybe just a couple thousand
then I'm safe!
For now
Minecraft feels big and scary now. I played it mostly back during beta days, I think starting on beta 1.3
Honestly I played less and less since netherite came out
Diamond is flashier and strong whereas netherite is ugly and too much of a grind for something slightly stronger
... I don't know what netherite is
It was added a few updates ago and it's just an upgrade to diamond gear. You need to find a bunch of super rare ore and some gold ingots to make a single netherite ingot and then you have to make a piece of diamond gear and put the diamond gear in a special bench with the ingot to upgrade it to netherite
The rare ore is way rarer than emeralds
that sounds like a loooot of work!
Newer players keep saying they need netherite to beat the ender dragon now but I do just fine on mobile with enchanted iron
Netherite is basically no better than Diamond anyway, all it gives you is more durability and some knockback resistance on the armor
And the sword just has 1 more damage than diamond which it insignificant
Btw fishing is one of the best things to do in minecraft because you can pull enchanted books while getting food
And since you get xp from fishing you don't have to worry about not having enough levels to enchant gear
Sorry, on my phone so your getting my top 12. ๐
I'm friends with a couple of the developers of Undead Labs (State of Decay) so that one is probably my go to. I have 2 Easter Eggs in the game. One of my favorite games is the Indie Game "Impact Winter", a single player survival game. If I had the Assassin Creed games on here, I think those would actually be in 2nd place.
Jedi fallen order was super fun
I really enjoyed the story for that one. The only thing that irked me about the game was the back and forth between planets.
I beat the story with only 1 more heal than the default because I was too lazy to get any more heals by hopping through every planet
๐ now that is funny but I totally agree. I haven't played the new one but I heard it's a lot better than the 1st one.
Actually I didn't either. Learn something new.
Some non steam stuff (e.g. Eve Online though I "won" several years ago, Star Citizen, Division 2, BF2142, Asherons Call back in the day) in there as well from an hours played perspective.
I've been tempted to try out Eve Online, but.....
Save yourself and delete that thought from the memory banks
You have a true gift for.... understatement
Stellaris is bad for that too.
I hold a Masters in sarcasm and irony.. with a Doctorate in pendantistry.
I played pretty hard for 8 or so years.
Told myself I was having fun.
The things I missed while 'hunting' players in wormhole space is a list I can't begin to write
Ah, a Renaissance Man
Save yourself the time and get a job as a data analyst
Or, if you want a good old space game, play Freelancer
No, just English. ๐คช
Hehe
I'd really rather get back to Linux SysAdmin... But, where's the money? Lol
Data Analysts at big companies get paid the big bucks
Yeah, but it's actually more tedious than my current role.
At least webhosting was dynamic.
Always something new going on.
More to learn. ๐
Fair
EvE is an interesting beast. When you're playing it at a low level it's not really 'spreadsheet simulator' but as your ships and goals get more advanced it drifts closer and closer to it.
Then you die to a gate camp and lose all your shit and quit playing.
I love eve. I just hate the devs.
I still have a dreadnought sitting in a keepstar somewhere or wherever it got spit out into low sec space.
Moved all my shit (3 accounts 'mains' worth) from C5 to LS when I 'won' back in 2017 or early 2018.
Multiple carriers and dreads and wspace pvp blingy T3s.
Nice. Mine was in deep nullsec and unless things have changed in the last few years if reddit got overrun by goon I'm probably somewhere low sec near minmatar/amarr space.
But I have no clue cause I haven't logged in. I used to live in paragon soul lmao. Like. The real boonies.
But I stopped playing around the same time as you most likely. 2018-2019ish
I used to have such high hopes back before they killed Wis and dust514
Devs blow money on dumb shit and over monetize.
And have no idea what they're doing anymore
Top 10...kind of surpised Subnautica didn't make the list, i spent way too much time building random bases all over the ocean...i didnt even really want to escape!
also won Eve a couple of years back! Congrats on making it out!!
devs themselves usually have to compose with a host of constraints that they can do nothing about it, and they do the best they can under the circumstances! Please let's not hate on devs for things outside of their control... actually let's not hate on devs here at all! Plenty of internet space elsewhere for that, including r/EVE!
Well its not outside their control. They self published their own game after they bought their rights back. They could do whatever they wanted. And for years they made bad choices. It's simple as that. I'm not hating on anyone. It's valid criticism.
They tried to make a second mmo world of darkness. Sunk millions into it. Canceled the project after years without ever launching it.
They made ccp Shanghai, sunk millions into opening a new studio in China with new devs who being from China had no experience with foreign consoles cause consoles were outlawed in China, not to mention it was late into ps3 life cycle. Promised it would tie in with eve online plantary production, never linked it outside of molden heath. Never ported it to PS4, or PC where it arguably should have been from the start with most of eves player base. The community was so vocally outraged by lack of progress they put it on life support with a skeleton crew run by ccp rattati and after a few qol changes closed the game.
Tried to revamp the game from scratch on PC instead of building on the good ideas they had with dust that the community actually liked and the reveal for the revamp was universally panned (Project nova at this point) and was shelved again to be revamped in the future as project legion but never heard from again and canceled.
Launched a VR fighter game called eve Valkyrie which went no where and died.
Canceled walking in station amid lack of progress in eve itself and over monetization of clothing items (monoclegate) and blamed the community over backlash for overpriced items and said this is what the community asked for with WIS.
Project gunjack for VR.
Eve mobile.
Made an eve trading card game
Closed ccp Atlanta which was the world of darkness studio. Etc. Etc.
Ccp has a track record over the last ten years or so. And it's worth noting eve online is still my favorite online game next to RuneScape and dust514 was my favorite fps.
It seems like the whole Valheim community is gathering under this game right now
Probably because of the trailer showing off parts of the base building
That's what got my attention and keeps people in valheim building castles and such
Any OSRS PVMers in this channel? Would like to do some raids together ๐ Feel free to contact me in privadt ๐
this will be my final word on this: none of the stuff you said is on the devs themselves! They hold none of the decisionary power there! It's like thinking me, three raccoons in a trench coat and with access to our social media back end, will decide to spin up a new studio, snatch up a new IP, or decide who works on what.
I know CCP has a player base with a long list of grievances, real and imagined. I mean I created my first EVE toon back in 2009, I've been following the drama for a while. Poor business insight, short-sighted decision-making, etc, they've had it all in spades. But conflating devs and the people in charge at the studio is doing the devs a grave disservice, and trust me, they've already suffered way more than enough for it.
Now let's please move on.
if 10 million people suddenly land here I hope they'll bring snacks, because none of us will be able to type "have you checked the #game-faq?" fast enough
๐
As valhiem is a great game, and I'm doing another play through now, I think the reason so many are looking at this game is cause it looks to be starting something new, and exciting, not the same old building survival....I've been looking at new games over the last few years, and this one has my interest along with a couple other, Nightingale, Derelicts, Rooted.... all look very exciting and really can't wait for testing, and EA....
I mostly just like messing in unity, so valheim is a playground for modding with me, but I'm pretty excited about this game over others. I mean knowing that it's built on a custom engine I probably wont be modding it, but it also makes it exciting to see how it turns out.
No doubt
should try "Satisfactory" in Unreal 5.2 ๐
heh you see this gameplay being done on UE5?

Unrecord is a single-player FPS that tells the story of a tactical police officer from the perspective of his body camera. As you work to solve a complex case, you'll need to use your tactical and detective skills to succeed.

yes....like this one better, also in UE5 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bF5RJcqujz0

yeah waiting on that one also, looks sick
you think thats a time sink bro, I've played like 20k hours of WoW
I think there's a South Park episode about that.... ๐
Wild, blowing the dust off this game
Hey guys, has anyone had this happen in Elden Ring? We both got a critical on this guy ๐ฎ
Haven't had it happen but I'm guessing you guys killed his horse and then just went up and stabbed him while he was lying down which results in a critical strike
Yeah, I was just surprised we both got it, I've never see it before looks awesome
That's true but I think that was due to you hitting slightly before your friend
Or it can be due to the enemies size
As it's quite hard to get a boss into those kinds of positions I haven't had it happen to me

OOOF.
Big chonky
Sooo, I am going to be doing a new run on elden, as a wretch. If anyone would like to play, I'll be on xbox starting in approx an hour.
waiting for dlc to play er again
and ill still gonna end up doing greatsword str build for 1000th time
I did a runthrough with the randomizer + seamless co-op mod. It was super fun with a couple friends
I bet, the worst part is being called in constantly ๐
I usually end up as a warrior of light
Ouch๐
Got Valhiem today, the graphics on the Xbox version definitely donโt match Pc
Does have a bit of a charm to it though
And yes my first screenshot was me doing mass deforestation
How many trees have killed you?
1โฆ it was my first death
It settled down then randomly jumped around, reminded me of the cars in fallout 4
Always a good feeling when you drop one and it starts a domino effect
nothing wrong with taking down a few trees
