Well, once creative mode exists, it will probably be MUCH easier

In some ways the building is even better in enshrouded than minecraft because you can place objects/props which don't look pixelated and you can also rotate this props 360 degrees in all 3 dimensions meaning that creativity is basically infinite. Also the water and the trees/plants look better and can also be placed at various angles and even upside down. The two things that minecraft has are a much larger block selection and also nonfinite building space. You can go as up and wide as you want really

My favorite "upgrade" compared to Minecraft is the 'voxel blending' that they do, so the edges of different types of blocks create a visual barrier that looks nice instead of just letting them be adjacent, uninteracting textures.

It's exhausting yet it's still somehow very useful lol. The main thing is just how bad people are at following the rules. For every suggestion we approve, there's soo many we have to merge or remove because they just don't follow the rules. And in my (biased) opinion the rules are quite easy to follow if people just... read them, lol

The main thing is that in order for the tickets to be useful they need to be specific and focus on a single feature. And a lot of people go to that website just... wanting to rant. They make posts that are a laundry list of all the things they want, or not even requesting anything specific, just vague "make this better" requests that aren't really actionable.

Not posting duplicates of already existing suggestions, and making sure that the ticket is a single actionable idea. I.E, people will write something like "here's my game design pitch on how I want to see the mage class reworked" rather than focusing on a single actionable feature that can be changed/added.

And the reason we have that rule is because if there's like, 15 ideas in a single ticket, it makes it difficult for users to upvote the parts they actually care about, and it also makes it difficult for us to ever mark the ticket as complete. Like lets say we add 3 of the 15 ideas, should we mark it as complete? It creates a huge headache and kinda makes the website stop working.

But honestly those kind of tickets just... aren't that useful for the dev team, so we try to push them in a different direction. We don't need players to tell us how to design the game, that's what we have game designers for, it's much better to know what outcome they want.

For example "This skill feels underwhelming and should get a buff" is honestly more useful to us than "this skill should deal 15 more damage." That's a very simple example, but for devs, understanding the way players feel us much more useful than having them tell us exactly what to do.

I mean I can't speak on behalf of management, but Keen is extremely cautious and conservative in their hiring practice compared to a lot of the industry, we've historically been very layoff adverse. We've had to do layoffs in the past, but they were out of necessity after failed projects, not the kind of "efficiency" layoffs you often see in the industry. Since then, though, the studio has been quite cautious and focused on stability. Enshrouded has been a massive success for us, but rather than rapidly overhire like a lot of studios do, we've just been steadily hiring a few employees at a time as they're needed, not rushing to expand as fast as possible.

Personally I feel quite stable here... at least as far as the games industry is concerned. Layoffs are always in the back of your mind in this industry no matter where you're work, just because it's so... unstable. It's extremely difficult to predict the future, and projects bombing unexpectedly is so common that it's... not that unexpected, lol.

I love it so much, I've never had a game that simultaniously frustrated me and blew my mind so much. I absolutely hated it for the first few hours, but reaching the later parts of the game as the story revealed itself it was one of the most awe inspiring experiences I've had in a game.

Those devs have never even heard of the concept of "first time user experience." Even all their trailers don't show off the most interesting parts of the game. I respect their commitment, but it makes it very difficult to convince people to give it a shot haha

Kind of its own thing, it's a survival platformer. It's a survival game in one of the truest senses of the word, though. You're a small little slugcat, in a big and dangerous world where everything sees you as a delicious little snack. Rather than being the main character, you're just kinda... part of the world. All the enemy AI is some of the most sophisticated enemy AI I've seen in a game, they all have their own personalities and traits. You'll see enemies fight/hunt each other, get distracted, respond to stimuli, etc. It makes you feel like part of the world more than any other game I've played, in a lot of ways it's kind of an ecosystem simulator.

There's a lot of lore and story to be discovered but you literally have to discover it, other than a few hints the game won't really tell you what you're supposed to do (other than survive), you just have to explore and experiment.

Precise in a different way. The angle you hold the sticks matters a lot, and I often found myself accidentally holding down when I should have been holding right, and stuff like that, and it would get me killed

because they got tired of people not doing the story properly and unlocking grappling hook so they ruined jump mining with a pickaxe and now we slide like 5x more than before ontop of not being able to jump

there's underwater plants you can use

Basically if you want to make a more realistic pond, stream, etc, you would want to:

1. dig out the area (bigger than you want the end result)
2. line it completely with a stone-type material
   -this doesn't need to be building blocks, it can be terrain
   -you can click on terrain types in your inventory and the description will show you if it drains water or not
3. once the lining is done, you can place any other terrain on top of that to "decorate" your pond or whatever
   That's it! 🙂

Since the Left Trigger (controller, not sure what the keyboard equivalent is) isn't being used in item placement, I'm proposing to use it as a more precision based mechanic.

Holding LT + R Stick (up or down)
Holding LT + R Stick (left or right)
Holding LT + R Stick press (flush to surface) be it wall, floor, shelf or tabletop.
R Stick - forward or backward (already a mechanic)

This would provide a more fluid movement rather than incremental movement for placement. Sort of a guided free positioning of items.

yes, shrines are just a shrine, sanctums have a small building around them. but the important part is that you can get a spark from them, which you do not get in night sanctums

Not sure if creative mode is on their roadmap because once altars are placed to claim your land nothing can attack within its boundaries meaning you can build uninterrupted.

It’s basically already creative as long as you have altars set up.

Actually, no. not really. because of their load size up, sometimes up to 6 trailers being towed, they need the FULL road, and when traviling at the speeds they do there aint no way they are moving for some tourest driving an suv or sedan. the wind they create will actually blow you off the road if youre not careful... best to just pull over and give them right of way.

Can I ask a possibly dumb question? I’ve been seeing the updates to the game, which are lovely, but when playing Enshrouded there doesn’t seem to be any direction or progression to the world. Everything just comes back, and I sort of don’t understand why we are there or what the point is?

Our goal is cleanse the shroud from the world, the quests in your journal slowly help you get better at beating the creatures that act as champions for the shroud and eventually I believe we'll be able to actually cleanse it entirely (after 1.0 release I hope)

The last update addressed this directly. Quests are now divided into main quests and side quests, and progression-critical quests are highlighted in the journal - so it's much clearer what you're supposed to be doing and where you're supposed to go next.

The structure follows the biomes - each one is a tier of progression, with its own gear, enemies, resources, and story beats. You move from Springlands through to areas like Revelwood, The Kindlewastes, the Albaneve Summits etc. Each biome gates progression naturally - you'll hit walls if you try to rush ahead under-geared.

The broader goal is pushing back the Shroud and rebuilding civilisation in Embervale, which comes through in the lore and the survivor quests as you unlock more NPCs. It's still early access, so the narrative is thinner than a finished game, but it's getting more structured with every update.

i was happy with 2h prior. Now it feels worse because things are taking too long to kill or they are up high and cant be killed effectively. Even with grapple. The only thing that was making 2H worth it, was the healing per hit. Now I feel that is gone and I have to run away a lot, instead of being in the thick of it

I noticed something odd about this game. If I turn on VSync, it holds 60 FPS and is smooth as butter. If I turn off VSync, it jumps to about 72 FPS, but is choppy and has lots of tearing. That's weird to me.

you can upgrade rings at the NPCs, but some are specific to certain NPCs... so if it is mage stuff, it's the alchemist, health = blacksmith, stamina = ranger... some can be upgraded at all 3 NPCs

Why is Arrow damage so garbage?? I am lvl 35, I have all bow related/dex damage nodes on skill tree I have a decent lvl 25/25 legendary bow and Iron Arrows, I have all dam food buffs amd it still take like heaps of arrows to kill one lvl 25 mob with effective hits etc (and yes I go for head shots as much as possible). I can barely sustain Iron arrows. I use Explosive arrow with all chaining etc nodes as well on big mobs but burn through these as well. Am I missing something here or a mobs just way tankie after patch?
