there's no real easy way to do it

some people suggest using multiple base altars to line up and get an idea, but personally just go to one of the resource servers and grab a stack of the shroud cores/nexuses and max out the altar to see, if its not in the right place i can remove and replace without worry about the materials

once i got it where i want it i delete the extra upgrade mats and start building lol

Managing Saves

Transferring Saves:

• This must be done whilst the game is closed.
• To share a save, copy the latest world save I.E (3ad85aea-7).
• Dedicated servers only use Slot 1. Rename a save file to match Slot 1 if needed.
• Files can be renamed to move them between slots.

Rolling Back to an Older Save:

• Open the -index file in a text editor.
• Find the line "latest": X (where X is a number from 0-9).
• Change it to the desired backup index and save the file.

Additional Notes

• The -info file contains metadata (like world name) but is not needed for servers.
• Each player generates their own -info files when creating a world.
• The latest world save files are what should be transferred.
  Ensure you copy all required files when sharing a save. For servers, only Slot 1 is used.

Nah, i only do it once i already have enough materials for the max altar upgrade, but because deleting the altar doesn't return the materials it's too stressful to pick a spot.

this way you can replace the altar as much as you need, once its settled you delete the materials so in the end you still only have the single upgraded altar

the starting area of a flame alter is 40 meters in total. so 20 meters from the center of the alter in all directions. The max level is 4 which will give you a total of 160 meters, 80 meters in all directions from the center. You can place an altar in the guessed middle of your building zone and place two alters in one direction. The first one has to overlap with your middle alter so that the building area borders touch the alters (center to center). The second one has to be placed so that the boarders touch each other. By doing so you get the exact 80 meters in one direction. Now you have to repeat it for the other directions as well and you're done. 😛 And you probably need more than one fully maxed alter if you want to cover a big area for building, so have this in mind while planning. Happy measuring and building.

The concept of gems not being upgradeable up to level 50 in the first biome should be something one can grasp.
Thus why we have a essentia for every biome and gem forges going from levels 1-10, 10-15, 15-25 etc. yadda yadda.

yeah, those "unique" craftable weapons are the way to go if you wan't to keep the looks of your gear or like certain effect, but those only go up to 3 upgrades instead of 5.

We haven't updated the requirements to 8gb of vram because the game doesn't require 8gb of vram to play. Some people even play it on 4gb of vram (even though that's below our minimum requirements)

I mean, you just don't, so they're wrong. Maybe in their personal opinion they don't think you get high enough framerates or something on cards below that (though, vram isn't nearly as important as the card itself when it comes to fps), but the game will run on 6gb cards. Having less than 8gb won't prevent the game from booting.

Skill points are from levelling, shroud roots and elixir wells, so yes, you don't all have to be there at the same time to get them. (But you will have to give the roots/wells time to respawn for them to be completed again by others.)

you can unlock it individually for the different weapon types (like dagger in the assassin tree) and only while you have that kind of weapon active it charges. but if you change the weapon the bar progress stays. so you basically have a global focus bar, but to actually use it with a weapon you have to unlock the special skill for that weapon type

Also being that so much is changing, there is always a chance that an update may break old saves, so we recommend backing up saves regularly that you care about. As this would be something that could be the end of the world for players.

We will do our best to avoid this, and it's not something we're planning intentionally we cannot guarantee this will "never happen" either since there are a lot of unknown variables in the future.

Yeah still accurate, at this point probably more accurate than it was back then. We have a lot of builders that have sunk hundreds or even thousands of hours into their saves, forcing a wipe would be an utter nightmare for the community. If for whatever reason we really feel like progress needs to be reset at some point, we will still likely find a way to allow you to access the old saves with like a legacy system or something. But currently, we have no plans to do anything like that for 1.0, it should be backwards compatible with existing saves.

the reason the "fences" changed is cause the old ones don't work well with grid, but worked great for the Developer's to work with, so the old ones are still used in the world. they didn't remove the old prop... they just changed the one we could craft, to a thicker, larger, grid friendly version

This games early access launched around palworld and while it was successful it still took a lot out of it and now the 1.0 release would be around autumn where there could be palworld 1.0/valhiem 1.0 as told if worse comes this game might be going around gta 6 which would overshadow everything
