Hey @barren cave - Welcome to the server.

If you're looking to decide whether running a dedicated server is worth your time or not when you have 2-3 friends interested in playing, you can host a game server directly from your game client as a private game, and setup whatever settings you need, then they can join on your hosted game. It runs just like the dedicated version with the only difference being you're the server. If you end up liking it, you can move your world save file to the dedicated server fairly easily once you decide to go that direction if you want, or start from scratch as well.

Managing Saves

Transferring Saves:

• This must be done whilst the game is closed.

• Dedicated servers only use Slot 1. Rename a save file to match Slot 1 if needed.
• Files can be renamed to move them between slots.

Rolling Back to an Older Save:

• Open the -index file in a text editor.
• Find the line "latest": X (where X is a number from 0-9).
• Change it to the desired backup index and save the file.

Additional Notes

• The -info file contains metadata (like world name) but is not needed for servers.
• Each player generates their own -info files when creating a world.
• The latest world save files are what should be transferred.
  Ensure you copy all required files when sharing a save. For servers, only Slot 1 is used.

If their save file/quests are broken in some way, I don't know if I can say an easy fix for it, but they can send us their save files and I can have the team take a look. I know the team is sometimes able to repair broken saves when they check them out, depending on what's broken.

I didn't understand the question overall, not sure what you mean by linking to a game session hosted on steam, but if you're talking about data between say, the user and the server, the data being transferred between the two is very minimal as no assets need to be exchanged.
If you're talking about streaming it, that all depends on your quality settings.

We're on Linux, which further narrows (and enhances) our odds. I have discovered vnStat.

It will measure everything instead of just the game, but it'll give an idea of total usage. So, yeah.

I would personally be pretty nervous about relying on 1 GB/month for a networked video game... but that's just my gut feeling; I don't have real data to back that feeling up.

I'm a little late to this party, but there is currently no official moding tools available. There is a community effort building to create a mod library for Enshrouded, but it's still in it's infancy. Most of the "mods" that you're going to find are things that directly affect the KFC file which can change functionality before the game loads, but there are currently no runtime mods. Any mods on NexusMods for enshrouded are either texture changes or KCF Lua changes.

I promise I'm trying not to be mean with this, but an unfortunate reality of life is that different people have different energy levels and different tolerances for higher energy levels. You do chat a lot, with high frequency and energy. You're not the only one in this server who does so. Some people find it suffocating to be in a room with very very chatty people; they just don't have the energy to keep up, and the conversation moves fast enough that they don't feel like they can participate. That's not an indictment of people like you or of people like them; it's just a social incompatibility.

There's no real way to be certain whether anyone has stopped participating specifically because of your energy unless someone specifically says something. If you're concerned, you can try to lower your energy levels (not by being sad or neutral, just by lowering the intensity), or redirect them to be more spread out. I also recommend finding a private group of similar energy-level friends. That can be a great outlet for energy without overwhelming others in more public spaces.

Again, not trying to make you feel bad, just talking about social realities. I've definitely been the more high energy person before.

Hmmm. That appears to my wife to be the only difference between where they will and won't grow. Weird.

I don't believe so. If you're having trouble, try equipping a watering can and walking up to the troublesome plant. It will tell you more information about the soil it's in, growth stages, etc.

It's very possible that the soil type is just not good for the plant you're growing. The wiki can tell you more about growth times for each sapling in each kind of soil. Sometimes the difference can be staggering.

From what i seen in the videos the devs have posted, they have quite a bit of changes that will feel quite jarring to newcomers right out the gate getting used to the game as it is right now.

A major note to keep in mind I suppose is that weapon and gear upgrading will be changed to require upgrading at the proper specialist of said armor type.

That will likely be the biggest trip up for veteran players as well honestly.
