Unfortunately I am having a problem, unsure if I am being dumb or not.

In 'Missed Embervale Quests' I have 'Continue your Journey', where you have to 'Talk to Cade Hawthorn' as an objective. When I activate the quest to go do it and go talk to Cade Hawthorn in our base, it just takes me directly to the crafting menu and I can't actually have dialogue with him.

I'm the host, I'm assuming my friend talked to him when we were playing so I didn't get this quest. Now I can't talk to him.

The floating islands is one of the landmarks that caught my attention immediately when I first started the game, and has intrigued me since. I assume it'll be a final boss/late end-game area.

the compatibilities of save files is basically:
Beta -x> EA first release -> hollow halls -> every update blah blah -> Veilwater 1 <-> veilwater 2 <-> Veilwater 3 -> Update with that rose armor was added so now you can't go backwards

in general you can go back and forth until a major update
major updates change the information within a character's save file and lore notes, so older updates now read them as corrupted

I realise... as probably the only one with backups of the older versions of the game, I am probably the only person who has ever tested this

Honestly discord is probably the simplest platform to moderate on, their UI is fairly basic and intuitive (often too basic, which is why admins like me need to use bots to add features that discord is missing).

Back in the day, moderating on forums and stuff had a fairly big learning curve lol, a lot of it was done with backend tools that were built with function over form.

required: an area to put workstations, a roofed area to house about 30 beds, an area for yourself, for your own bed and decorations (they give a buff to stamina and stamina regen), an area to garden, and depending on what food you need, a roofed area for animal beds and food throughs

Once u reach endgame the building/crafting becomes one of the few things of value to do, so until then u don't need to do much of it, u can even put an apter in one of the pre-built houses and call it good

You can get all the benefits of building just by making a shoebox and stuffing it full of props. If you're not interested in building, you can make it a very small part of your playthrough. If anything, we get criticisms that it's not important enough, some people want there to be more reason to make big, extravagant builds.

@echo crag there's also the option to just mod resources, it's designed for singleplayer so no anticheat. i know / use a software called "wand" (that also works for other games), and i'm sure there's more software out there

oh and there's a server with materials that refreshes every hour

I played a game called Core Keeper, which really leans into crafting tbh
You're forced to farm in order to make workbenches, meant to upgrade your armor & weapons, but its not a big deal
And of course, cook food for buffs, and create setups to auto-farm (like factorio)

I was playing with a friend who focused more on making our base or hub look nice, but also optimal
While I kinda I enjoy that aspect too, its not what hook me into a game...
For core keeper, I felt done with the game once we had explored all the biomes and defeated all the bosses

Ah, I see, so you do like combat and exploration? Most of the core gameplay loop involves exploring the world and fighting stuff/solving puzzles while you explore. Gathering resources is also a fairly big part of the progression, and having your own base is part of that as well, but like I said you can make the base very basic if you don't care about decorating/building.

you can only use one at a time, but you could:
ride a horse, jump off a cliff, jump off the horse, open glider, drop glider and then activate the horse button (but you are subject to fall damage if it's too far of a drop)

But also... That map is way bigger than the one we have in Enshrouded. Already more than 30-40% is dystopian mushroom land

horses in botw actually function really well, and can help you travel faster, they path-find and avoid obstacles, they work good in combat too, Botw horses are great... the problem is you never have one near you cause they don't warp

so the solution is, let them warp
