The Berkeley Pit in Butte, Montana is a prime example and not propagandistic BS. They closed the mine and as groundwater filled in the pit it turned into a highly acidic reservoir. Its so caustic now that they have employed a active sound system to keep wildlife away from it due to the harm it causes the local ecosystem.
I genuinely wish we used more nuclear to offset the insane amount of power these data centers and AI centers are consuming. They are actually recommissioning a plant near where I live in order to solely power one of the data farms. I'd rather pay for nuclear than wind or solar in the long run due to the long term benefits and minimal waste in comparison

It took me 15 years to pay off my college debt for a private seminary. My family and church told me that God wouldn't have allowed the bank to give me loans unless he was going to help me pay them off. In the end I paid about 330% of the original value of the loans but had no degree and lost my faith. If I had been instead taught basic financial literacy I would have probably had an entirely different life, and a better one.

Point is don't abuse faith or youthful inexperience to enrich yourselves. But ladder pulling seems to be a specialty among certain circles of people.

Yeah I'm gonna be moving in with my friend soon to share a new house, and they still have college debt despite being almost 30. I lived on the streets four times in my life, lost my teeth and had vast mental health issues. I always wonder if my elders hadn't treated me like a piggy bank if my life could have been less painful.

I should say I am happy and housed and married and lucky to have made it through, but I also don't have contact with any of the people who set me up like that. I am glad for income-based therapy and charity housing programs and the awesome friends I've made in life, so I hope I don't come across as bitter, but I learned some tough lessons the hard way and now also have very strong opinions on the importance of teaching financial literacy as well as not mixing faith with finance. this is do-able without an updraft-skill
but it requires either aiming direct center of the updraft, not really veering from one side to the other
OR
canceling glide and going back and forth
OR... maybe using a weaker glider that isn't as fast, not sure on this one though
