also you dont loose anything on an altar that is removed right away (only if you log out immidiately or crash or smthing game ending)
but other than that you have some time to replace it.

The alter level doesn't stay. The flame level does.

If you're moving locations or just repositioning the flame alter. Build the new one first. And upgrade it. This way you can see if you have all of your stuff protected. Because once the old one is destroyed, anything that is not protected will despawn eventually

I had 5 characters that, until veilwater, were 100% done... all lore notes, special markers labeling the corners and edges of the maps, maps fully filled out to those corners. Special markers on all the checkpoints within hollow halls.
I want the wiki to update so badly so I can find all the lore notes again. then I will get them all to 100% again.

the goal was to keep making a new 100% character until eventually I could make "preset" builds on each character, one as my main, one as a mage, one as a healer, one could play like link, ect.
then I could join people like a Adventurer Guild Recruit kinda thing

I do wonder if its possible to make a world, that would make leveling up and 100%ing characters easier.. but mostly I found it easiest to just do the lore-note hunt and do whatever was nearby

I just pushed XP gains to max and got the skill points because I need em anyway. With level 20 and the max gear at the time my toons could clean entire max-density elixir wells and well... pushing through that much enemies with lower level nets 1k xp/enemy sometimes... which makes leveling pretty fast.

I think it depends on what you consider to be benefits. Better gear, for sure, at higher level. But if you are a builder, you also get access to more biomes (different types of places to build) as well as things to make. Plus, lots more story, lore, and beautiful things to look at and adventures to be had.

I have a building dilemma and I'm having trouble sorting it out so I'd like advice if anyone is up for it. I want to build a base inside a cliff. I'd like for the flame altar to be dead center of the maximum size you can get (160x160x160) on the horizontal plane, so that the very edge of that is the cliff face I'm digging into. How do I measure the distance so that I can place a level 1 altar in the right spot?

put a foundation then an altar hanging half off and half in the cliff. Raise it to max size. Then put the next altar half in the footprint of the first, raise it to max, remove first altar.

I think that honestly depends on what your standards are, some players on very low specs have a great time and other players who expect the game to run at 240fps on their 4k monitor say it's unplayable lol.

The main thing is that the game should be running on an SSD, performance is usually really bad on HDD harddrives.

And yeah, like Mystfit said, Steam has a very generous refund policy as long as you play a game for under 2 hours. If you launch it, turn the settings to low, and it doesn't feel acceptable to you, you can always refund it. Make sure you make use of the DLSS/FSR setting (for nvidia and AMD cards respectively), as that gives a huge boost to fps.

Mount and pet slots, I'd love to have a hophare follow me around, or ride a fae deer thing. I don't need the fae deer to be super in depth and have special moves, I know glidings faster, i don't care, I think horses are pretty and want to place one in my base, and also be able to equip one to ride outside/inside my base
Dye stuff... we need to be able to dye more things, hopefully including metal someday... but at LEAST the tricorn hat.

I have always wanted one of the scavenger wolves as a pet. especially if I can make it hunt for me Botw Wolf Link style. and if it dies then give it like a 1 min cool down before I can re-summon it or something, or maybe I need to obtain a pet revive item, or give us a crafting table we need to go to that "revives pets" instead or something. theres gotta be a way to make it so we get ONE pet and can summon it, it can die, but we can revive it too somehow/eventually

I do say ONE pet cause... I have seen people with 30 wolves in valheim...

I think with enough 2 star wolves in valheim you can kill Odin himself.

yes, it (difficulty) definitely does curve up more. For me, it started to get harder once I got into the kindlewastes at 25-30 for sure. Most say that apexes with the dragon fight atop hollowed mountain in albaneve summits.

Several reasons: 1 the nephews always ask for board games for christmas and the nieces (who are a few years older) ask for books
2 the boys have many long road trips with my sister both trying to keep everyone alive and the peace inside the vehicle
3 the older boy is verrrrrry competitive (inherited from his dad, alas), and a truly cooperative storytelling game might break him out of his rut
4 planting his nose into a book and giving him things to think about might actually take him away from the screens he is desperately glued to
