Yeaaah... I used to work in veterinary medicine and I distinctly remember a moment that made me feel sick because it was so cruel. My coworker was having a custody battle over her kid, and I guess for legal reasons she abruptly got the call that she needed to show up to court somewhere. When I think of american work culture, I always think of that moment. I haven't experienced anything like that working for EU companies

I think the thing that frustrates me the most (especially now that I have experience with work culture in the rest of the world) is how oblivious a lot of Americans are to it. Everyone just kinda treats it as the way the world works, and I've seen so many people getting heavily abused by their employers who just kinda sit back and let it happen because they assume that things can't be any better.

Consequence of how big the country is I guess, most people have never even met someone who lives in somewhere like Europe so they have no frame of reference.

Yeah, american employment is built on the concept of "at will" employment. It's a very backwards philosophy of letting the market decide. The logic is that "If employers were treating people bad, they'd simply quit and go somewhere else!"

It's a system that just like, obviously doesn't work. Having no regulation and allowing employers to fire people for literally any reason allows them to just take advantage of people who are desperate for a job, because everyone needs to pay the bills

I had a german company that wanted to hire and relocate me a while back, and they were actively planning on bringing me over, but they ended up giving up when they found out I didn't have a complete college degree. They told me that it would have been too difficult to try to convince the government that I was worth bringing over, even though they wanted me.

its essentialy a small pillow filled with cherrystones. put it into a microwave for a minute and then you place it ont certain muscleregions which then transports the warmth into your muscle tissue better than for example waterfilled heatcussions because it adjusts much better to your bodyshape

One thing I do wish, iron and other mine ables need to be more "granular", dirt/stone too if need be. Bump all the numbers by 8 or 10 or whatever and make it so that we get less of the "you mined 0.8 chunks of silver, no silver!" over and over and over and over and over when digging in an area

bump the stack sizes for them, the recipe amounts etc so the balance is the same
