Is the farming in this game excellent, and can you assign a farmer to it? Can you raise animals?

The NPCs are shallow atm. They just recently made them and also made it to where they walk around. Maybe in the future? The farming isn’t bad. I enjoy it. The building is the focal point

there's a herding/taming animal system (haven't used it much yet), but sadly the farming has to be done yourself, NPCs don't do a whole lot outside of the 'crafting' NPCs that just function as additional crafting stations

And as far as animals go, there’s a plethora of different animals you can find and tame. However they are a little rambunctious and tend to escape your pens that you make for them. Most provide a resource. And they are cute to have. Right now both the animals and npcs provide life to the villages.

Tbh I found the gathering, mining, harvesting to be rewarding in this game. You discover something new with literally everything you collect.

You unlock so many recipes for building, crafting and cooking with literally EVERYTHING

Until we get creative mode, we have those. And once you’re done playing through enough of the game and you just wanted to focus on building something crazy… you can use one of those resource worlds (like the shroud depot) and get what you need without farming and you’re all set

early on, you'll want wood logs and stone for simple base building, animal furs, flint and metal scraps get used in weapons and armor, plant fibers are used to make string and some other stuff. . .

game actually does a decent enough job telling you what you'll need, though it can sometimes be a little tough trying to find specific items

Also, you can adjust things in your settings to make farming items less of a pain. You can increase the yield of wood from chopping down trees, harvesting plants, and mining ores. You can shorten the time of growing things. You can turn off durability. There’s a lot of leniency in the game to fit play styles

one thing to keep in mind, when it comes to weapons. . .past the first early levels, you will be relying on finding better ones rather than making them. the main thing you'll be 'making' weapon-wise after a certain point are things like arrows and spell charges

yeah, each area you wander into will increase enemy level by 2, I believe. it goes 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, etc.

Also you don’t need to build from scratch. Best way to start, imo, is with an existing Point of Interest. I normally run the game on super sad graphics because I do not have an amazing PC and I prefer not to stutter etc; but today I bumped graphics up to middling and then 3 things happened:

• I realized my builds look stupid to my friends who play on better graphics, because things just don't render the same (ie on basic graphics my chests appear to be protruding from the wall; on middling graphics the wall is irregular and hides my chest faces)
• I wandered around staring at fake foliage and carpentry details saying "what!" and "omg that's so beautiful?!?" like an NPC with repeating lines
• I started shopping for a better graphics card so I can have this experience all the time

I too am waiting on delivery of newer gpu.
I started playing in April on a gtx1650, on 'balanced'. About half way thru 1st time, I got frustrated with lag and used Nvidia Game Ready app to auto optimize graphics. It slammed it down to zero extras, just bare bones performance, nothing extra. Springlands/Nomad biomes are just astroturf, no foliage.
Evidently, my toon over heard the npc's talking about 'the good times' when the world had 3d textures and grass. So now he's on strike and refuses to quest until I fix graphics 😫

The world system is voxel based and tied to a square grid. To allow for rotations less than 90° would require adjusting the grid which is complicated (adds a lot more information to track) and might also break other things in the process. It would be a complete retrofit to every single voxel object in the world, which is always dicey.

it would also, since you would have to put another grid ontop of the existing one, be MASSIVLY more taxing on any machines tryin to run the game. you could literaly wave goodbye to any kind of optimization for the game because it would simply slow anything down to less than snails speed

While I'm not a game dev, per say, I am a coder to some degree. As such, while I didn't particularly know the specifics of Keen's engine I can guess at some of the data structures they would end up using for a grid like this and have a basic understanding of how badly it could break the system and strain hardware adding that kind of extra layer of complexity.

That being said, it could be done. It's just a question of what the tradeoffs would be, because there would be tradeoffs.

and i know that to be as beautiul as enshrouded looks, it comes at a cost

Well, think of it in simple terms: Every voxel is basically an object. That object has properties for it like its location in the grid (X,Y,Z), the type of block it is, the texture of the block, etc. In addition you have things you can do with the block: place it, remove it, change its type. When you add rotation in then you need every single voxel to now have the property of its rotation in the mix then you have to add the process to turn it by however many degrees, and then (because of how the engine blends blocks) how those voxels interact with all the other voxels around them.

It gets very complicated very fast.

And one bug can then cascade through the whole grid and suddenly your world is melting... Or exploding... Or turning into dancing kittens. Who knows?

It's the prop called Simple coffin. For each arch it takes 18 coffins for each side. So i guess the total amount of coffins used here is OVER 9000!!

I went ahead and counted them.. it's ONLY 17 for each side of each arch. 8 to the left and right, plus the center. There's 21 arches in total (the backwall arches only has 1 side.. 7 backwalls in total). But I've also extended 1 backwall into a fridge with even more arches. It's a little difficult to say for sure, but there are about 350 coffins. Yea, it took a couple of days 😫

Center coffin first, then 4 on each side to give the outline. Then fill in the rest. Buldingue (the youtuber I linked) describes the approach expertly.

I outlined everything first, then began filling them in. The room was already built (however, very different from the end result).

Half dome made with the wooden window inlay pieces. one angle and then went round the entire thing before doin the next angle and so on

aye makes sense. that way you dont have to refiddle for every arch again 😅

It's not unusual to run propane thru copper pipes, at least not in USA. My house had propane heat furnace, line from 500 gal tank to furnace was copper 🙂

What is unusual is to have electric wires running near the pipe 🙁

Honestly, just because a rock is older/was at a certain place in time doesn't really make it special.
It's more about what the rock was about back then and the memory that shouldn't get lost, in the end - the rock is still a rock and measured by that, you can take any other you like.
But that might just be my mindset, I'm no archaeologist.
