Also, revealing what their working on has multiple issues: 1) People will complain they're not working on what they want, which will start other people arguing that they're working on what they should and then I have to ban many people. 2) It ruins the fun of having things you don't expect being released happening in the game. 3) Some things they might be working on aren't in a great place, and releasing details on an early-development system when it's not in a great place can ruin any excitement for that system.

most of the stuff on the public roadmap are things we pulled from our "tentative 2024 roadmap" which we pieced together some 12 months ago from our "tentative Enshrouded EA features and content" plan. Internally, we tried as much as possible to stick to a cohesive plan, one with themes where the features and the content and the quest and so on actually match one another, eg: the Hollow Hall NPC actually is delivered along with the Hollow Hall locations and the Hollow Hall quests, the musical instruments come with the musical instrument NPC and the area where they can be found, etc.
You'd think this is par for the course, and I would agree that this is generally what everyone in game dev tries to do, but it's not ever a given. Features turn out to take a lot more time to build than anticipated, or stuff doesn't work, or simply put, we look at the result and we're like "the players deserve better" and we delay the thing to work on it some more. So from this we pulled a list of features, content, QOL improvements, etc. that we were "pretty sure" ™️ we could fit in thematic updates for our first year of Early Access. Then we added some of the higher-profile changes we were really keen on adding much later down the line but who might prove too complex to build, such as water. One of the biggest risk factors with Enshrouded is that we've built the engine from the ground up so it does what we want it to do, but since it's never been done before, we don't know how well it will actually be able to handle the features we build, etc. Any feature has to play nice in a deformable terrain that has some permanence to it, in real time, for up to 16 players, on a range of hardware. This would be a tall order on the most common game dev engines, but a lot of this here is purely and simply terra incognita and we're here with good intentions and a machete.

So where does that leave us? With a big bucket of features that we think we can sort of commit to, on a timeline that we ourselves will not even know until we're pretty much done with said features. So the idea of releasing a roadmap with defined dates for specific updates containing specific features would be extremely unwise, knowing that we're likely to throw most of it out the window the moment work starts on any one of them.

As a result, what we decided to publish was the bucket itself, because we'd rather underpromise than underdeliver. We know players trust us with their money and faith, and it's a lot nicer to pleasantly surprise someone, than to disappoint them.

the "tax money" stuff is absolutely hilarious and I really hope you try that line on a local city worker, a police officer or a teacher next time. They are, after all, also paid by your taxes, in a much more direct manner than a government grant or subsidy

i find if you don't read the quests which sometimes tell you where things are specifically, then you need to be good at exploring even moreso lol, as someone who did a whole playthrough not reading vs. then doing one reading every quest.

I got to say that I have never been this invest in a game, with a community, at an early access stage, talking with CM's etc... And you are really doing great for now.

I remember once moving my flame altar still early game but my crafting table and temporary storage chests were on the edge of the boundary so moving the altar took them outside the boundary so the chest with all my stuff disappeared into the Shadow Realm

well its hard to explain but i made an underground hobbit hole

but i accidently dug out a section that hit sky

so to reset the land i moved the altar

and i moved the altar so the border didnt cover the entrance, but somehow the entrance remained intact, and the land that i wanted to regenerate regenerated.

so i guess maybe if the border is still touching tiles they wont despawn even if they are mostly outside it? or something weird, maybe there is some range away from the border.

Doing Kindle Wastes HH on relaxed mode, still gives some anxiety spikes, but it's doable. I'm still surprised that I managed the last glider part without deaths, a few crashing (because I forgot to change glider) on to walls but not dying. I'm kinda sad that it's made easier to glide now.

I... Honestly don't know. I know you need to link your Steam and Twitch accounts but I don't know if it will give you drops for a game you don't own. It'd be easy to check, though. Link the accounts, watch an Enshrouded stream with drops on and see if you make progress on the inventory page.
