I bought it on a whim after reddit kept tossing posts into my feed. After a few days of seeing the name, I checked the Steam page. Definitely worth the money. I thought I had sworn off EA titles. I only have like 15 hours so far, but I honestly feel like it's worth it. Love exploring and getting my ass kicked when I wander into an area I'm not ready for.

Map feels so large to me right now, but with the way altars work and how I can easily zip back to my base, it doesn't feel like a grind like how most open world survival/crafting games like this feel like a grind.

I keep getting sidetracked trying to do quests because I'll see some random building I didn't expect to be there, and I can't stop myself from exploring everything.

Hell, found a sword in a shallow grave after reading a lore tidbit while trying to do a quest that was nearby. Ended up with the quest and a shiny new sword with a blue glow.

Then found a shield that already had lower stats than the shield I had but looked way cooler.

We really need shield transmog like how we have for armor. But I bet that suggestion already exists. 🙂

I disagree, and I even checked after the mage changes. A lvl 30 matron special move will still light you up and do over a 1k dmg, even post nerf, it just doesnt one shot you anymore, AND if persists after you release

Well, using Framegen software isn't exactly improving game performance. It's using AI /predictive algorhythms to generate frames between what your GPU is capable of doing. It's improving your GPU performance.

for those who were ''fighting'' for the FPS. We must not confuse the PERCEPTION of smoothness of motion with whether your eyes/optic nerve/visual cortex are actually processing more than 60 frames per second. The two are not the same even tho they are very related.

Your eyes gives an interpretation to your brain of what you see.
The monitor gives you another interpretation that you process with your eyes and then read the previous sentence again.*

I would change that power setting anyway, but it might just be one of those things where you have to decide on resolution or frame rates. The game is always being optimized, but even then, games like these are notorious for being resource hogs, even with non-custom engines.

For Flame Shrines there isn't anything you can "check". You could go with where the fog of war is the strongest or if you can remember the vault. If you cannot remember, you'll need to revisit all of them one by one.

i'm struggling to see what is interesting about this game. you build homes which is great. is there any threat to your home? no, so you can simply build for the sake of building which reduces the demographic to those that really enjoy building.
you wander into enemy camps and attack them which is great but is there any follow up retaliation? no. this makes retaining resources infinite as there are no raids to keep the player fortifying and maintaining the localized threat level to keep the player engaged.
random occurrences? not really, even during the night time the corrupted linger to their spawn points which means that there isn't much opportunity for impromptu conflict.
how this game would benefit is a similar model to "state of decay"
if the large red tentacle spores are left along maybe they should reach a more progressed stage that poses wandering groups of enemies and the longer they are left to progress their stages the larger the groups of enemies or more dangerous enemies they can produce.

While I can agree it is boring, one feature on the roadmap is "enemy patrols". Let's see what it gives.
That they don't roam and randomly attack buildings or places may make sense. More so in your absence.
I mean... Some people are only engaged by building their spots and places. The middle ground would be to make it optional.

In my world? Make the world hostile. Let them come to attack and even destroy your base if you don't care/keep an eye on it while near it.
Would encourage to have cellars for your ressources and maybe even to build a fortified castle into a mountain.
But I'm in the minority.

I have enjoyed conan exiles for being able to build structures and place enemy characters inside while imprisoning friendly npc's in cages to be saved, there is also mods that you can group enemy npc's to follow a leader and have that leader roam around a long elaborate path.
such features in enshrouded would build on private servers and certain global servers if someone were to step up and produce such content for other players.

While I fully understand that permanent bothering by enemies can be nerve wrecking, that's somehow a little bit what makes it interesting to be honest or more like a "survival" game. Shouldn't be balanced about you going into enemy camps, should be balanced about enemies wanting to have a word with u.
Also, yet, I really feel the builders get a lot more XP with mining and such as the fighters and questers.
I needed to build a ceiling for my houses. I got 4 Levels just by mining clay.

I'm just genuinely annoyed with all of the crashing issues. I've never had a game crash so much and then be told well go through a third party app to hopefully figure out what the issue is... Idk if it's mainly a co-op situation. I haven't had a crash personally but when we run the game on co-op and play together my partner crashes in specific zones. Never have we had this issue with other games. Seems specific to this game alone. It makes it to where it's just frustrating to even try to play together because every time he crashes not only does it respawn him back at home base and he has to rerun all the way back over but it rolls back the progress he has made as well losing items and quest items essentially treating him as if he died. So then he loses the items he keeps working for just to crash and lose them all. If you're going to release a game with a co-op mode then have it to where this doesn't happen. The amount of work we've been put through to try to get his game to not crash is insane. And we both have insane computer builds. We've already completed all of the steps sent to us in a DM for him and still have the same continuous issue. It's becoming where it wasn't worth the money paid to play this game when you can't even play it the way it is intended to be played without jumping through hoops to get the game to NOT crash. We're both beyond frustrated because the game seems like it has so much potential and the content we have played and can complete within it has been fun. But when it crashes repeatedly in a certain spot it discourages you from wanting to continue playing because it turns into a ragefest... I'm honestly disappointed.

if we are comparing this game to BotW then lets look at the level of establishment in how to make a good enemy. the kind of enemy that enshrouded is lacking. Legend of zelda has been existing for a long long time. over 30 years. a reoccuring enemy that comes back again and again in different forms is nothing new if we want to get biblical but enshrouded is fighting a force of nature essentially. it lacks character, motive and most importanly the lack of publics ability to empathize or understand. this is a struggle that enshrouded is going to either have to shoe horn in to keep the players interest or probably watch the game fizzle out of public favor. which is something I hope doesn't but I watch and listen and speak up when I feel someone should talk about such concerns. enshrouded has no gannondorf, no emporer palpatine and it lacks the established threat of loss like fighting a fungus in a story narrative like the last of us where losing a key or widget that is the secret to saving hope for the future is easy as failing to protect something so vulnerable and bring it to a difficult to reach destination. enshrouded lacks intensity in its story essentially.

Yes, the game isn't done yet - but it lacks something. Naming it, it lacks an actual threat now. Advertised in one of the very first videos was it that the first night without a home can be brutal - showing a Flameborn sitting on a campfire.
I don't see fully the "Go Breath of the Wild experience" working here, if the lore wants to tell us that the Shroud is creeping and wanting to snuff out our light.
For me it's almost boring that we need to get out and visit the enemys camps to have an adventure - when the world itself should be the adventure and place that does not want us to be there.
And again... I don't want to force anything upon players they don't want - it also can just become being a world setting later on.
And it doesn't need to change into a base raid defense style (even though that would be appreciated and shake up the gameflow at least sometimes) - it would just be enough to have the nearby Shroud puddles have enemies spawning and roaming around / getting drawn to the altar you set up.
Or that the altar does not prevent enemy spawn at all. That's what makes it most boring by now If you fully upgrade.
Kindlewastes may be the exception, but even there a draconic vulture rarely finds u after it flew a certain distance into the wrong direction.

But EA is just for giving feedback and so do we.

Or maybe - get this.... MAYBE some people actually like the game as it's been written and designed, and have faith that the studio that has yet to let us down, is going to continue on in that tradition.

... I know - totally crazy.

It's hard these days to find a completely original style game, the art, or playstyle or quests or something else is always going to remind people of some other game they liked - and without fail they will b***h and moan when the game they are playing isn't "more like" Zelda, or Dark Souls or whatever... And I have seen developers cave into those specific demands and completely ruin everything that made that game special to begin with.

There are always going to be people who think the game is too hard while others are complaining that it's too easy at the same time. That it's too much like this game, or not enough like another game.

This game has solid bones, and is already head and shoulders above many AAA full releases that have come out - and it's not even half done.

It has a great development team who knows how to communicate with their players, but also knows what kind of game they want this to be when it is done.

And I spend a great deal of time helping people with their technical issues with the game, So I can say, without a shadow of a doubt - that this is the least buggy game I have ever seen... and it's still in EA.

to address the lack of reoccuring conflict in the game to the player, I might go as far to compare the game's conflict similar to the story in Idiocracy
enshrouded: the humans are gifted the magical essence and they rapidly grow a dependence and this divulges into desperation of power to control it which eventually topples an empire. upon that desperation people mined the earth out and released the spores that we now know as the shroud. the shroud spreads the earth and a clever alchemist invents a way to sustain a person for hundreds of years which is where you wake up in one of his jars and left to pick up the pieces.
in idiocracy, "Not Sure" is frozen in cryo stasis meanwhile business and capitalism ravages the world and turns it into a dystopia the people that lived on had a degenerating level of intellect which has rendered them barbaric by comparison to individuals from the past whom the natives are hostile towards. through a series of trials and tribulations "Not Sure" rises in the ranks and becomes a leader of the new world.
so is the dust storms not imagery of the shroud? how about the general public that simply wants to put "Not Sure's" head on a pike or simply act violent and ignorant towards him not unlike enshrouded's timely present residents of the lands.
and you might be wondering why I'm comparing Ideocracy to enshrouded?
the answer is, despite the stupid nature of the movie, they had successfully established the growing concern and a compelling conflict only 12 minutes in to a 1 hour and 20 minute movie.

I'm still wondering what the real conflict is because the shroud isn't expanding. it just stays there. the residents only attack you if you approach them. and no one is forcing you to take the elixir and there is no growing dependency on it.

inhancing the games engine? much of what it does it does great. whats there to enhance? the enemies dodge, block, and attack in large groups. they call and rally allies together to attack the player when confronted. mobility works well and combat is responsive. building is the games strongest feature and digging through the terrain is a great feature that I have yet to see a complaint on. graphics and sound for the game are great so I have to wonder what about the engine requires attention?

At least in the case of Keen - they do communicate with us, and more importantly they actively listen

It doesn't use the phone's hardware though. It streams it. I do use an S21 Ultra. I can connect it up to a monitor and then I don't have to stare at a tiny screen when playing. I can even connect a keyboard and mouse but I prefer controller so I used that mainly.
