Morning. Shroud patches doesn't bother me as I don't build big bases. 🍵 Also I would say get those patches are part of game. (get used to it. hides)

Part of having the shroud next to you is to push you to learn to deal with enemies occasionally getting into your house area. Also it's the starting area, it has enough room to expand out a fair amount, it just isn't suited for a huge 160x160x160 building area unless you build up in the sky. Staying in the starting area isn't really worth it because since you're limited to 8 alters that makes each very important where you choose to put them. So ideally they should be placed somewhere that's close to farming resources that you can't get to from the ancient spires. Having 1 as a home base that you choose for aesthetic beauty is cool.

i dont remember the message specifically atm. the cloud icon was showing in the steam library next to Enshrouded and it wouldn't go away as it wasn't saving.

I'll re-download the game and turn off cloud saves and then try playing again. Maybe that will help

Anyone else unable to finish the Hollowed Hall Quests?
I ran all 4 of them with a group for the first time then did them in my world and they are all stuck at 'enter the hollowed halls in [Region]' except for the first one which finished correctly.

There is currently a bug in the game that is preventing people from progressing through certain quests in a world once that character has already done the quest on another world.

At this time the only fix for the issue is to create a new character and force-progress that step in the quest. Once this is done, the main character should be able to complete the quest.

Well then I'll just wait for a fix. Additional quests dont hurt me too much and since I got the last survivor and all recipes still unlock as they should it's not too bad

Its not often I suspect the windows build, but I had this problem while in the insider and each update had the same problem, so i reported these and rolled back, but it seems microsoft never managed to fix these problems. They just rolled out a piece of garbage. Microsoft are getting extremely sloppy and careless.

There should be a clear way to differentiate between regular and magic chests. Since magic chests can be nearly anywhere in the alter range, I heard 120 was the limit, then you have the option to simply hide them.

I'm sure there's a limit on what they're willing to spend time on for total development. Can always make suggestions/requests once that's opened back up. Personally I like to see more biomes and content than aesthetic stuff.

I am looking for a recommendation for a dedicated server that doesn't lag constantly. We are currently renting a server through Apex Hosting and while they've been great to work with, they cannot support the server we need. Every time more than one person is online it gives a server overloaded message and the lag is absolutely terrible. Does anyone know of a company that isn't having issues with a dedicated server. I have seen tons of complaints about the exact issue we are having from people using all sorts of different hosts. We need a server to support about 8 people and run smoothly.

At the moment I have 32 huge storage, 2 small, 8 tiny chests. None are magic chests at the moment as I've been a nearly pure solo player, magic chests aren't as important when playing solo.
I have been planning on inviting some friends after the Administrator privileges for storages and other things gets added. By then I'll have added some magic chests in a basement room out of sight.

Some friends of mine have a Nitrado server that they haven't had any problems with that I know of when it comes to lag issues. A few of us have a problem searching for the server sometimes, me being 1 of them so I haven't played much on the server.

Personally I'd say overlap by 1 block. If there's no overlap and they're just butted together then there's a good chance for a sliver of a gap of light shining through that will likely drive someone insane until they set it to overlap by 1 block. Will take a little calculation to make sure it's going to be correctly spaced once they both hit 160x160x160

That's actually relatively easy to do since blocks that you place down will stay there for at least a short amount of time after you delete the alter. So build a giant platform with each level 1 alter, then delete it and build another that butts up to edge of the maximum build range of previous. Take into account the 1 single block column down the middle between them for the overlap needs so there's zero gap.

Once you have the two 160x160x160 together and the 1 block overlap you're good to go.

If you built an alter then built up into the sky a bit you can place dirt or rock by terrain if you wanted to, then place a new alter on top of that area.

Like with a lvl 3 altar, you could make it lvl 2 range whenever you want if lvl 3 was too large

Just temporarily delete a teleport alter. It's really a good idea to have the 8th alter as a spare just in case you need to throw down an alter and teleport back home, unload loot, repair weapons, tools, get more potions and bandages.

If it really is true that they are planning on 20 alters then 12 more would be added, there's only about 30-35% of the map open at the moment. So going up 1 alter at a time as we get the strength upgraded and the deadly shroud gets pushed back that leaves plenty of room.

Keen took the time and effort to make their own engine, and have my greatest respect for that and I am an advocate for building your engine to fit your own need. What I have learned is that Unity or UE doesn't produce good games. The good games made in 3rd party engines is often games perfectly suited for this.

the game i creating for was using Unity2019 and there only Using SingleCore for AnimationLayer.... that was sucking performance like hell for Years...
if in an World are 80 Avatar's with crap buildet Animation layer, and to much meshes with to mush Materials with more Textures and all unpacked in the VRAM the Grafficcards are burning like hell.... and thats in VR where the Graphiccards have to perform Well to get constand Framerate so you dont get Motionsick (Framtime big problems....)
they fixed it last year and switched to Unity2022... its not even better because the other content creators are anyways building crappy Worlds and Avatars with way to much materials and textures but the Animation Layers are way lesser affecting the CPU Usage, ad the Rendering is less used because they limited some things

Yeah, this kind of demonstrate why this is so bad. The studio must upgrade to gain access to versions that have stuff like FRS/DLSS and things that technically is not spesific to the engine.

There is the option to just have the maximum number, just have you logged in at DIFFERENT times, not all at the same time

Maximum is 16

Another option is simply have more than 1 server and split your community into those different servers. Just remember the closer you are to 16 people the more lag and overload problems you'll have.

1 other thing that you also might want to think of is loot and how it gets distributed in a large group. You're likely going to have some people that are going to fight for the best weapons and armor drops.

Yes but it's not going to all be gold legendary and also probably not going to fit the classes for drops. Say the number in a party is 1 melee, 3 mages and 2 archers, but the drops end up being 3 melee weapons, 2 magic and 1 bow. Of course there's going to be tension on deciding who gets what.
