Btw, have you tried to use FSR2 in enshrouded? It is not very pretty but can help boost your performance. In the game go to the graphic settings, then to Antialisin, and choose FSR2. Just a tip, if you haven't tried yet.

These days a GTX 1060 is not a very competent card for most games coming out, and that's fine. But if that's what you have, you're pretty much stuck at 1080p maximum, and probably the lowest possible graphics settings to get any kind of 30+ frame rates.

It's not only your graphics card. Your CPU harmonises (in the best case) with your GPU and work in synergy. If you have a potato CPU and a baller 4090 GPU it won't make any difference, and the same the other way around. If you have an Intel i9-14900KS and a GTX 1060, it will be the same very dissapointing result.

Your motherboard and cpu is still very competent. What's bringing you down is that very outdated GTX 1060. Save up for a 4060 Ti, or if you can find a used RTX 3060 12 GB as @queen rapids said, then go for that, and you'd get atleast double the performance.

Just today upgraded my oldest son's computer to an AMD Ryzen 7 5800X cpu (that I found on a sale with a mobo for 300 bucks apx) and a 4060 Ti, and it runs like butter for him. Very happy with that upgrade. He plays Enshrouded and all the LEGO games you can ever imagine. Solid system.

My younger one still has to make due with a GTX 1080 Ti, and it's miserable, but I'll get to that when I can afford it.

Enable the FPS overlay in Steam, and see for yourself. In game you might have whatever fps, and when you open the map, zoom it out fully and scroll around, that fps will drop by atleast 50%.

I think that'd end up really bad.

Picture this, the possibilities how that would end up:
They'd adapt the regular behaviour of other "Unfriendly" NPCs running against walls.
They'd start mining where they shouldn't and you'd wake up to a 50ft deep hole next to your bed.
They'd break doors because they cannot use them properly
And so on.
Other solution would be to summon them with the staff where u want them. Which would require an altar.

Well my suggestion is: Remove the shroud patched from the starting are (the first quest and location you place a flame alter). This is where most people are going to build and remain and those shroud patches become a real problem as your camp grows.

Keep the shroud in the cave to Long Keep is fine but there's plenty of shroud in the game and the first area at brealyn Bridge no need to clutter up the one nice area for starting out.
