many of the combos are like sekiro to parry and there is little way to know when you are safe to attack without knowing the patterns on a first attempt, you do get better at noticing the timing and i would say i am pretty good when it comes to it (people said there was a difficulty spike when you get unbound but i beat the furry halberd guy on my 3rd try) but i was still unable to react to enemies and bosses combo variations without knowing them first

what i mean is they are like dial up parry windows where you hit it like a rythm game

no way to know the rythm before you see it

the damage is ramped up solely because dark souls is popular

and i can't disagree i like it too but i dont know if dark souls damage helps nine sols

dark souls damage worked so well because its slow and you have time to see exactly whats coming and only need to dodge it once

well its a game about parrying and yi wears nothing but a light cloak and skinsuit as armor. plus there are plenty of jades to help you. I like the game's combat because it actually feels achievable to learn the patterns adaptively once you start to get the hang of it. you will die a lot but i think it does a very good job of showing you why you died

sekiro saw that the high damage was bad for learning parry timing without just throwing yourself at the problem

thats why you have 2 - 3 healthbars

the combat is very satisfying once you got the timings down

but getting there is a worse expereince than it could be

and it feels like its doing that simply because it wants to be another "2d soulslike"

yeah that is absolutely fair, but it really depends on your stats, jades and the enemy you are fighting. and also your rhythmic skill. some bosses will punish you with a combo but you can punish them even harder by repeadetly parrying them

if you want a tip against faster bosses, I suggest developing a strategy of not even attacking until you have found a good pattern. remember, parrying is one of your attacks.

I love how cheap vintage story servers are dude

11.75 for a month of a 24/7 multiplayer server YOU OWN AND CAN CUSTOMIZE (such as making it private, modding it, etc)

that means 141 bucks for an entire year of a multiplayer server for you and your friends
that's 2 minimum wage work shifts at about 13 bucks an hour for 2 days

2 days for an entire server staying open for a year?
