A 3d mesh will never split in two pieces unless someone has coded it to happen.

There is code allowing the game to split the helmet along it's vertex, which is why the splits are zigzags. There has to be code which essentially turns the helmet model into two different models and only keeping one side of the split on each model.

Iirc there’s actually an armorer who lives down in Southeast Asia, but I can’t remember exactly who. Pretty sure shipping costs would be prohibitively expensive for ordering, and learning smithing would genuinely change the trajectory of your life cuz it’d be learning a whole ass trade… I’d say go for it

from all ive seen making 14th century armor is just hitting a heated metal plate with a hammer until it contorts into the shape that you want but im sure its more complicated than that

Not even, if you're starting out making armour you'll more than likely be doing mild steel, which doesn't even need heat.

You also need to make sure the carbon content and such is good and the thickness has to be good.
