You can tell him that it's possible to back his saves up incase he's worried about dying like that. Then if he dies, just restore the backup. I back up my characters every so often for that reason, incase I die to some bullshit. The stuff he's bitching about is genuinely skill issue lol. And it sounds like he has no idea what "early access" means. Of course the demo is going to be more polished than EA, it's had the luxury of being polished as is over the course of a year and 7 months between 15 patches. EA has barely been out a month.

That's just enabling cheats in a game. Sandbox is a gamemode that allows you to choose whatever you want and play with whatever you want with everything the game has to offer, without needing to unlock it or anything. Sv_cheats is Valve's version of enabling cheats so you can do more console stuff.

For example, if we take a look at Blade & Sorcery's Steam page, there's a good description of what sandbox is -

"Play in unrestricted sandbox mode to access all 76 weapons, 90 armour pieces, and enable any skill you desire."

Free mode can be similar to sandbox, just depends I guess. But you typically always have to unlock stuff for free mode by playing through the main game. Even the demo's free mode didn't give access to everything, you had to unlock the baron by beating the gauntlet and you could only play in the yard map.

The closest there is to a sandbox mode for Half Sword atm is the itch.io version I believe

To reduce settings further in an attempt to conserve more resources:

1. Exit Half Sword then download the attached engine.ini.txt file and rename it to engine.ini
2. Press Windows key + R to bring up a Run box, in the Run box put %LOCALAPPDATA%/HalfSwordUE5/Saved/Config/Windows/ and click OK or press enter.
3. Once you're in that directory place the engine.ini file there. Right click>Properties on the engine.ini file and check the Read-Only box, or it will get deleted upon starting the game.

As for the baron - his real name is "Frank"(internal data) or "Francis"(concept art), full name of Francis von Frankenburg. The name Francis originates from the Latin "Franciscus" which means "free man" or "Frenchman", referencing the Frankish people -

It gained prominence through Saint Francis of Assisi in the 13th century, evolving into various forms like Francesco, Francisco, and François. The name signifies both a geographical origin from France and the concept of freedom.

As for the name Frank -
The name Frank originates from the Germanic tribe known as the Franks, with roots in Old High German (Franko) and Old English (franca), meaning "free" or "freeman". It originally referred to a member of this group who conquered Gaul, but evolved to denote someone who was free, rather than a Roman subject, and later became a common given name.

In the demo, the baron was heavily French-coded. His plume of yellow and blue feathers signifies France, as well as his targe bearing France's coat of arms. His covered plate in EA seems to have been used quite a lot in France, particularly Burgundy it seems, which is possibly where the jester(and possibly the baron as well) is from, who is someone he is apparently quite close with -
The Jester brought the idea from Burgundy, or so the talk goes. Said he’d once seen such a thing at a duke’s tourney, a marvel of iron and noise that scattered knights like dice from a cup. The Baron liked the sound of that. He told his fool to build one, and soon enough the smiths were melting scrap for the barrels.

The jester's real name is apparently Pierre Le Fou, confirmed by an Instagram post from Half Sword Games (pic attached) - Burgundy is about 715km from Frankenberg, Hesse in Germany, which seems to be where the in-game city of Frankenburg is based since the Landgraviate of Hesse is seen in-game.

There may be some other stuff I'm forgetting, but it's all quite interesting. Also the baron only recently took over after the old lord of Frankenburg died, and according to the narrator the baron is a man who "sleeps on stone and dreams of crowns" so I don't doubt he schemed his way into his current position as lord.

yes, I believe in terms of meta the baron is a reference to Frank. It's not uncommon for devs to do this, John Romero did a similar thing with Doom.

I'm speaking in-game lore wise though, there's enough information that distinguishes the baron as his own person and not just a Frank self insert. The baron's full name is Francis, Frank's full name is Franchesko.
