first exit the game, right click Half Sword>Properties>General and turn Steam Cloud off.

Goto %localappdata%\HalfSwordUE5\Saved\SaveGames and if your GameProgress.sav file says 0kb, delete it. Delete other files that say 0kb as well. If not, just move the GameProgress.sav file somewhere else for safe keeping. Then start the game up again and see if the character you create saves.

If it doesn't, go to %localappdata%\HalfSwordUE5\ and delete or move the entire Saved folder somewhere else so the HalfSwordUE5 folder should be empty. Then start the game up and try again.

In the future, make manual backups of your save file

That's unfortunate but 4 times, at least by now you should have been making manual back ups. It happens though, I've been through it with many things.

Follow the steps laid out in my message here - #halfsword-chat-⚔ message

It should fix it so you can create a new character that won't reset. Then in the future, every so often go into %localappdata%\HalfSwordUE5\Saved\SaveGames and make backups of the GameProgress.sav file.

Steam Cloud is unreliable, just leave it off. Especially since saves apparently can randomly become corrupted. It's unclear what causes this since I've never personally had it happen but I've helped a lot of people who have.
