call me crazy, but i think this game will be amazing just as a Sandbox, duel game with a sense of customization and weapon customization so we can test and mess with weapons and types so no duel can feel the same.

messing with armor, weapons and loadouts to experiment will be what i think Half Sword is going to excel at. Especially when they add mod support we can really experiment with this game, and if the devs add even more freedom like a map creator that i think this game has a chance of maintaining a fan base for likely years and years

I think it could be a very simple 'eating' menu and hunger bar - for me I see adding an interesting element to the game economy, where maybe you have to budget for the nice shiny longsword by sticking to basic oats for a while - of course at a cost of potentially losing muscle mass. Shame - I hope there are other economic systems to play around with and/or other ways to progress!

Also keep in mind that EA will not be the final product of the game. EA stands for Early access. It’s said to only be 50% of the final game. So we will be getting a whole lot more content on top of what we are getting by the end of the year.

Well, we know for certain that there will be multiple game modes, at a minum. I'm sure there will be a freeplay arena battling mode for folks who want that, and probably a more progression-based career mode for folks like me who want that experience. Probably some kind of Abyss mode much different than the one we have now

To be real: the EA combat-- based on today's GIF, Gamescom footage, and a thing that McWonderBeast said-- doesn't seem that improved at all, and still super unstable like the current Demo. I don't mean they haven't changed anything, but it looks like more of the same rather than entirely different. I already know that the stances remain the way the are, or similar anyways, but what else is the same? I like the new modes and new features, but the combat seems like it will be the nothing new; same strikes, same disengaging (not bind-based) combat, same things that can all be done right now. We haven't yet seen a swing or much game play at all, so we're obviously unaware if the rigidity and floppiness of swings has possibly been changed, but from the currently accessible and viewable media it looks not so promising. I hope it gets updated early on if it's not going to be in the first release, because the Demo combat is only really good in expectation that it will improve in further releases.

As for the evidences: Firstly, we can see in today's GIF that when the sword is brought into stance, it wiggles a bit when doing so--just like it does now-- implying no change to stance structure. Secondly, we see the same walking and surrendering animations we're familiar with, implying no change to movement structure. Now look at the Gamescom footage; we don't get much of it, but from what we can see, the movement is still shaky. Gamescom of course had a different build, but it was still meant to show overall progress. Then three days ago we had a question, "clue how long do you think it'll take you to get used to the new EA physics just like how you have it now" which was answered by McWonderBeast, replying, "Not long at all, they are not that different." This again implies very little difference between now and then. So unless further showcases prove otherwise, I'm not set on getting my hopes up for much better combat in EA, outside of the maps, modes, and environment.

It's really hard to judge on appearance. The combat rigidity and fluidity has changed 3 times this week in the test build. Being physics based an adjustment to one joint influences the others.

I can confirm additional stances have not been made.

Level design and the addition of trap mechanics are priority leading to EA, otherwise it will be 100% more of the same.

Hardware Acceleration crashed Half Sword for me at one time. I turned that off and it stopped.

so I want to ask, does anyone know how the scoring/loot spawning work for Abyss mode? becuase it often feels like once you get to commoner you get like 6 enemies thrown at you and maybe 2 loot spawns before the boss and it ramps up with minimal chance to get armor
