@deep brook I saw your video. Well first of all, hold Shift for better stance, secondly side-swiping with low force barely harms fully armored knights. You would also want to expand your motion to more than just horizontal slashes - try vertical and diagonal slashes. Vertical is good if you want to either stun the opponent or if you're lucky, hit the blade in between the armor and into the shoulder. Diagonal is much better than horizontal swings since you are more likely to hit the enemy, if they wore less armor then it would mean a higher chance of success, horizontal is good for hitting them in the neck and that is if they don't wear full armor.
By double-clicking or holding Alt you can switch to a thrust, which can help you pierce armor with a suitable weapon, but you can also click or hold right mouse button to switch to a half sword grip which is good for blocking certain attacks and getting precise stabs towards the neck area.
I would also like to let you know that swords are difficult against fully armored knights and your best bet is to stun them by aiming for the head with full power. It's better if you used blunt weapons against those knights.
As for fighting style, don't just try one swing and wait, try to make a little combo with a controlled motion - you can combine those diagonal, vertical and horizontal swings together and increase your efficiency, but since you are a fully armored knight don't swing erratically or you will tire out fast.

I mainly try and play through the main like ladder, you rank up as you defeat each champion. I can never make it past commoner

the best way to improve is to play freemode honestly

play with a variety of weapons without being overly careful like you typically have to be in the ladder

it lets you play around with techniques to see what works and what doesnt

lets you play around with swing speeds, types of swings without the penalty of being annihilated and sent to abyss

the only safe spot is at the final challenge

so you have to get through the entire ladder before you can die without penalty
