I got a lot better by turning down my damage taken/done and toying with the AI. Most importantly though was learning spacing and understanding (idk if there's just one word for it) but the implication of what swing you're going to see in the next second or two because of the position of the sword.

And as a whole, I did this too in my first hundred hours or so. I played with reduced damage to both me and Willie to allow the fights to be longer. I wanted more time to play around and learn the movements.

Another thing about this game - especially if you're using "Lock On" mode, is that if you hold M1 too long - the game's system for swing transformation will get locked on some of the axis - it's important to not hold M1 "too long" after performing combo swings. Always reset/let go of m1 and then rehold it after performing maneuvers.

I think i see what you mean, and why i'm not affected by it.
The camera moves on its own to settle back to looking at the middle of the opponent when you have the sword in a downward, or upward position.
I don't notice this because I am always changing sword position, so it doesn't have time to try to settle in and move on its own.
